RUEDI CREEK GEM! (Ruedi Reservoir BASALT)
Bed & Breakfast
Fryingpan River

CHARMING, ARTSY treehouse-like private studio guesthouse (sleeps 4: 1 king bed, 1 queen futon); 1 bathroom & full kitchen. Private entrance & private deck. 1 mile to Ruedi Reservoir, 2 miles to Gold Medal fishing on the Frying Pan; ski, bike, & hike!

The space
Maybe you are an outdoor enthusiast; FISHERMAN, HIKER, BOATER, BACK COUNTRY SKIER, or ROAD BIKER. Maybe you are an ARTIST or WRITER looking for a place to create and for inspiration. Perhaps you are a SEEKER of magic, peace, or MEDITATION. If you've said "yes" to any of these, then the Ruedi Creek/Ruedi Reservoir area is the place to be. It is a mecca for breathtaking mountain wilderness beauty, wildlife, outdoor activities, as well as peace and quiet.

The Gem Guesthouse is a spacious, but cozy studio apartment with beautiful views and a treehouse-like feel. It's nestled on 6.5 acres of aspen, fir, and spruce trees, with a small stream trickling nearby, as well as a creek running through the lower part of the property, near the road. The Gem Guesthouse does share the same property with the Treasure main house, which is just across the driveway. Each has a separate outdoor space oriented away from the other, which offers privacy for each.

Other amenities include: a well-stocked, full-sized kitchen with a vintage professional gas range; a bathroom and shower with artful mosaic tile work; a plush king-sized bed, and a cozy queen-sized futon; a wardrobe for clothes hanging as well as drawer space is available, so you can make yourself at home during your stay; and there’s a spacious deck with lounge chairs for relaxing and taking in the beauty of the forest, as well as a table for al fresco dining.

NOTE: This is a NON-SMOKING PROPERTY! Please respect this rule. Fire danger in our forested area is very real!

ALL individuals who are respectful and responsible and at least 21 years old, are welcome!

About the neighborhood:

We are located in a REMOTE neighborhood that borders the White River National Forest area, and are approximately a 30 minute drive from the town of Basalt (the closest major town), and approximately a one hour drive from the town of Aspen, the Aspen airport, as well as the Aspen ski resorts. Though we are remote, our neighborhood consists of approximately 12 homes, so we do have neighbors, and must be respectful of property boundaries; including our road, which goes through various neighbors’ properties. That said, we have a list of many hikes that we recommend outside of our neighborhood.

**NOTE: If you are traveling here in the winter months, (generally Oct. - May) please make sure you are well prepared (and a well experienced mountain driver) with a 4WD/AWD vehicle!

Guest access
**A NOTE ABOUT WINTER ACCESS: a solid ALL WHEEL/4 WHEEL DRIVE vehicle with good clearance is a MUST for access October - May (these tend to be the snowy months). SNOW TIRES or CHAINS, as well as EXPERIENCE driving on wintry mountain roads are also a MUST! We are in a REMOTE, MOUNTAINOUS AREA! Our road is maintained, but there are steep grades, curves, & snow packed, icy conditions during these months--traction can be very difficult! PLEASE ASK ME FOR A RECOMMENDATION, if you plan to rent a vehicle. I know of someone who is honest & offers snow tires on his cars. Sadly, most rental car agencies actually LIE about putting snow tires on their cars. In my experience thus far, the WORST are FOX & SIX-T. Nevertheless, BE SURE TO REQUEST A 4WD/AWD WITH GOOD CLEARANCE WHEN YOU MAKE YOUR CAR RESERVATION. Also, BEFORE you drive off of the rental car lot, MAKE SURE THAT YOU SEE FOR YOURSELF that you are: A) getting a REAL 4WD/AWD, & B) SNOW TIRES WITH A GOOD TREAD on the car you are renting. (I cannot emphasize this enough!!!) Guests at my other listing have been duped by their rental car company, on more than one occasion. In one case, the guests got saddled with a car that could not handle the conditions, & had bald tires, to boot; ZERO tread! As a result, they slid off the road & got stuck in a ditch twice. It was a situation that was dangerous for, & hard on my poor guests, as well as the whole neighborhood.**

As for the space, guests have access to the 2nd floor guesthouse apartment with its own private deck, which is located above the 3 car garage on the left side of the driveway. Entrance to the guesthouse is located up the stone steps on the right side of the garage, & up the stairs to the deck. Guest parking is available straight ahead at the end of the driveway, & next to the garage. At this time, there is no access to, or parking in the garage.

While you are a guest here, you are welcome to walk around & enjoy the 6.5 acre property. Though, please be mindful of the other guest(s) & their privacy, if someone is staying in the nearby main house (RUEDI CREEK TREASURE), across the driveway.

*CELL SERVICE & WIFI: there is no cell service up here, & though there is WiFi internet, it's not very good bandwidth. Unfortunately, satellite internet is the only option in this area at this time (the downside of living in paradise). However, you should be able to send & receive emails, & browse the internet. Streaming, using Facetime/Skype/Zoom, as well as logging on to a VPN tunnel do not work well, & are not allowed due to data usage.

Beautiful one bedroom apartment with full kitchen
Bed & Breakfast
Fryingpan River

Located 5 miles from Basalt nestled in the stunning red rock towers known as the 7 Castles, with hiking, biking and fishing out your doorstep. It is across the road from gold medal waters of the famous Frying Pan River and restaurants and shops are just 10 minutes away in the the quaint town of Basalt. Driving up the Frying Pan valley along the river is THE best part of my day!

The space
The apartment is on the ground level with a separate entrance and is in a small subdivision with two acre lots. It is a dirt road into the subdivision and the last part of our road is somewhat steep so I would not recommend arriving by motorcycle. The apartment is beautifully decorated with a Zen/asian style feeing and we also have a professional massage chair for your use.

Guest access
we have a full one bedroom apartment with kitchen on the ground level of our home with a private entrance. We live upstairs, but you may not even notice we are there, except for our Golden retrievers may greet you with kisses. There is also your own sitting area outside in the yard with a cafe table to enjoy coffee or a meal outdoors.

Other things to note
The apartment is best suited for a couple since it has a queen bed. We would prefer just a maximum of two people.
