In addition, the winter months invite world class snowmobiling, cross country skiing and any outdoor winter activity that you can imagine, including ice fishing on Ruedi for that dedicated angler. All of this is conveniently nestled in the tranquil and majestic White River National Forest. 'The Cabin' is an exceptionally scenic 25 minute drive from the town of Basalt. Bald eagles, Big Horn sheep, Elk, deer and wild turkeys are a common site.

The town of Basalt offers excellent dining options, several boutique's for the casual shopper and a choice fly fishing outfitters. There is also a General Store in town to pick up your basic essentials. An additional 5 minute drive further down valley is the Willet's Town Center. This popular retail location offers additional shopping, multiple dining options and a list of retailers including Whole Foods market and City Market for stocking up on your complete grocery list. Aspen/Snowmass and the Pitkin county Airport are located, "up valley", approximately 45-50 minute drive away from the cabin.

The roads are maintained during the winter months. However, 4 x 4 vehicles are highly recommend in the Rocky Mountain region.

- "Second time staying here and it won’t be our last. First, and most important, Dan is the consummate wonderful host. Incredibly quick to respond, took time to check in to make sure everything was perfect, and just wonderful as a host. Cannot recommend him highly enough. Love the location of the property above Ruedi Reservoir. There are neighbors but the property is very secluded and quiet. We loved the daily visits by a doe and her three fawns and had a separate visit by two bucks. If you want peace and quiet, this is the perfect place. The addition of Starlink internet from our previous stay was a nice surprise because it meant not being without phone service since cellular coverage stops just outside of Basalt. And last, but certainly not least, the drive along the Frying Pan River never gets old. If anything, it’s difficult to pay attention to the road. Luxurious Riverfront Log Cabin located directly on the banks of the Frying Pan River. The Guest Cabin is located on the same property as Lodge at River's Edge and consists of a fully equipped kitchen, living room with cable TV and wireless internet, a bedroom with a queen bed and an open air loft with two twin beds. There is also a pull out sofa in the Living Room.

The cabin was originally built by Colorado Midland Railroad workers in 1896, it was restored a century later in 1996. The cabin was renovated again in 2005 and 2015 . The cabin is decorated in an elegant mountain style and includes luxurious linens, comfy robes, down pillows, radiant in-floor heating, fireplace and all the amenities you would expect at a nice hotel. The sliding glass door opens up to the views and sounds of the Frying Pan River rushing by. The cabin guests' are welcome to fish on the Frying Pan River in front of the cabin and also upriver towards the main lodge.

The cabin interior was recently with a gorgeous custom staircase to the loft. Additionally, the kitchen has been remodeled with granite counter tops, stainless appliances, and wood flooring throughout. Other additions include A/C, washer/dryer, dishwasher and an upgraded bathroom with walk in shower and double vanities. No details has been overlooked.

The cabin is located only one block to the charming town of Basalt. It is a beautiful, quick 1 minute stroll to all the restaurants and shops located in town. Skiing
There are 4 ski mountains towards Aspen.
Ajax (Aspen Mtn), Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk, and Snowmass.
Sunlight mountain skiing is located in Glenwood Springs (a 40-minute drive).

Biking
There are numerous road and mountain biking trails nearby. The semi-flat Rio Grand Trail connects Aspen to Glenwood.

Glassier Trail is an intermediate/moderate trail you can hike, run, and mountain bike. ... This is a 1.6-mile dirt trail on the Glassier Open Space that links with The Crown in Basalt, CO. Prince Creek, also called the Prince Creek Trails, is a network of trails you can hike, run, and mountain bike that is dog friendly.

Welcome to our Basalt Estate. We live on a secluded road in the seven castles community and you will be in complete Colorado wilderness and privacy. Please have 4 wheel drive. One of our favorite amenities about our property is that we have a private hiking trail right in our backyard that is a 4 mile round trip hike to waterfalls. Aspen and Snowmass skiing is about 30-45 minutes away. Downtown Basalt where you can find restaurants, gas and coffee shops is a 12 minute drive down the frying pan.

The beds included bunk beds, a full size and a king which were ALL extremely comfortable. The house came stocked with a variety of tv options available along with games and a jacuzzi. We absolutely loved how clean the house was and enjoyed breakfast and dinner as a family at the spacious dining table every night we were there. We will definitely be booking again! THE SPACE
This cozy condo features new flooring, contemporary furnishings and decor, a fully equipped kitchen, and spacious dining for 6. The inviting, open living area is the perfect place to unwind with family or friends after an adventurous day exploring the valley. The comfortable sofa converts into a queen bed for additional sleeping arrangements. In warmer months, enjoy a morning cup of coffee or an evening glass of wine on the balcony overlooking the lake and mountains.

Two nicely appointed bedrooms, both with comfortable king beds are located on the upper level. Both the master en suite bathroom and the guest bathroom have been recently remodeled with elegant marble tile and new vanities.

- "Stayed here with a couple of friends during a ski trip. Kitchen is well stocked, beds are comfortable, and it has really nice bathrooms. Snowmass is a quick 20 drive and there's a bus you can hop within easy walking distance of the unit. The temperature difference between upstairs and down is noticeable, so be aware and drop the temp a couple hours before turning in for the night during winter." - "Place was perfect for 2 days in Basalt for 4 people. There are lots of stairs so if stairs are not your thing I suggest finding a different place. The downstairs stayed chilly while upstairs was hot at night with thermostat set at 65. Didn’t bother us but might if someone is sleeping downstairs they will be cold while upstairs is hot. 4 of us all agreed we would stay again."
