- "I never got any instructions from the host about checking in or the lockbox code, or how to find the place--we arrived in the dark and the winding gravel road leading up the rental was pitch black and the black numbers on the mailbox weren't visible from the street. We called the host to get the lockbox code; it took 12 attempts to get it open. On first glance the place was cute, but there were no luggage racks, no storage--no cabinets or drawers for us to unpack our belongings. The "bathroom" was tiny, with a little slot for the toilet and a cramped shower stall next to it. One towel rack, no hooks to hang our robes on or another towel. The in-ceiling heater didn't heat. There was no vent to eliminate steam or other unpleasant bathroom odors, which was a huge problem because there was no door--just an open-slatted louvered door that was too big for the door frame, wouldn't close, and offered no privacy. The bathroom sink was in the kitchen and the hot water faucet didn't work. We had to use the kitchen sink instead and it was really disgusting, as was using the toilet which was 18 inches away from the food prep area. It was gross. Our rental was separated from the adjacent one by a door--no sound-proofing at all so we could hear every word the occupants spoke, not to mention their music. I complained to the host and he responded 12 hours later. The entire experience was completely unacceptable."

We have collected artwork for the loft from renown artists from Eastern Europe, Barcelona, New York and Tibet among others. The style is clean and modern with Ligne Roset furniture from Paris in the living room. The master bed was hand forged and all mattresses in the loft were selected for ultimate comfort. Down comforters, linen, fine cotton duvets and super down pillows are provided to settle in at night. Top of the line large screen TVs are in both the living room and master bedroom. Twelve-foot ceilings and banks of windows add to the modern vibe of the space. The second bedroom is an intimate space that can sleep 4 in two full-over-full beds. There is also an additional single bed pallet that can be used in this room. The rug was handmade in Buenos Aires and is of soft chevron cowhide. Everything is pristine as it was recently acquired!

The spring, summer and fall activities seem to center more down-valley in terms of horseback riding, golf, fishing, hiking and yoga, and you are right in the center of it all! The main bus station is 2 blocks from our unit that you can take anywhere with buses leaving every 15 minutes. If you rent a car you do not have to worry about snow as you have a designated underground parking spot. On days we ski Aspen mountain, we typically valet at The Little Nell, and have a Apres ski cocktail and have our ticket validated, which makes it quite reasonable to park at the very base of the mountain. It is a terrific place to people watch and relax before heading back to our little sanctuary.
You are steps from the best wine store in the valley, as well top-rated restaurants and great boutiques! Jump on the bikes and head to the river or stroll to the 8 screen movie theater. We have done what we feel makes a space both exciting and comfortable to enjoy the best of the best in Colorado. You will be thrilled with the money you will save having the anchors such as Whole Foods so close as opposed to the heart of the tourist areas. As foodies, we love to try every new restaurant and found the choices much more interesting in the Basalt area at basically half the price and it is incredible to have the option of either! Skiing could not be easier - hop on the bus on the corner of our block and be driven or park your car in the garage and head up the mountain. I have been renting exclusively thru another site until April 2016 and can say that the loft has been given nothing but 5 star reviews.

Other things to note
You are where the locals live who call Aspen, Colorado home. A short drive thru the beautiful mountains brings you to the international playground that is so neat to experience first hand. We love all the mountains, Snowmass is 10 miles up the road, Highlands, Buttermilk and sometimes we go the opposite direction and ski Vail.
We have discovered amazing small towns as well such as Redstone and Marble as well as Carbondale and Glenwood Springs. We bought this property because you really are at the most convenient access point to do the most things in The Aspen Valley.
