Stay in one of the original dwellings built in the late 1800s in the gorgeous Animas Valley while enjoying all the conveniences of modern living. This quaint cabin is surround by mature trees, a year round babbling brook (including stairs to the small waterfall if you want to recharge with a cold plung ), has views of the Hermosa red cliffs, and borders the James Ranch Tree Farm.

The location is perfect: centrally located between the incredibly fun town of Durango (20 min drive) and the insanely beautiful San Juan mountains to the north - which includes everything Purgatory Resort offers both in winter and summer).

You will experience the perfect vacation day soaking up the morning sun while sipping your tea or coffee on the porch, reading your book by the stream in the shade of an old apricot tree, or playing cards while enjoying the outdoor patio in the warm afternoon sun ~ all the while listening to the diverse varieties of birds that live in the surrounding trees.

Inside the cabin, you will sleep in one of the most comfortable beds you have ever experienced while traveling, look out the windows at the iconic Hermosa red cliffs, all the while listening to the calming sounds of the nearby stream. When standing at the kitchen sink, you will experience views of the Animas Valley.

We are very purposeful about providing organic fibers for all our linens and towels. You will feel extremely pampered with the luxurious organic cotton sheets and a feather comforter. We only use non-toxic cleaning agents/detergents/dishwashing soaps.

- "Peaceful and just what we needed. Wish we could of stayed longer. The bed was a little hard for our tastes but we have no complaints other than that. We loved to come back again." - "At first we were concerned about how cold it would be inside. Yup, we even brought extra blankets. The provided space heaters helped a lot until we got the wood stove burning. Then, it is as nice and toasty. We didn't need those blankets for our entire stay. That stove kicks out tons of heat! Upon first sight the cabin looked very clean but it could use a good dusting. There were cobwebs on the light fixtures, loft railing, etc. The dishes were lacking too. And replace the pots and pans. They're not usable. Glad we brought our own. Hand soap in the kitchen would have been nice. Please provide a dining table and chairs for conversing, games, puzzles, etc. Sitting at a counter is not condusive for any of these and you only have 3 stools anyway for a cabin that sleeps 4. We found this to be shortsighted. When the listing mentions the steep, potentially difficult drive up, believe it! We arrived after dusk, and even with a 4 wheel drive, not being able to see well, it was iffy in spots. The drive when we left, in full light, revealed what we encountered. Whoa! Let's just say it was revealing. The bed was very comfy. We slept well. It is super peaceful and quiet here. Your cares dissolve away. Be sure to enjoy the outstanding views from the deck. You'll want to stay much longer. If it had not been winter we would have venture further outside to enjoy more of this little slice of heaven. Overall a wonderful and fantastic stay! Staying a week it would’ve been nice to have access to those things. Other than that this place was perfect for our vacation!"

NOTES: This is a mountain home on a well. Most guests prefer to bring bottled water for drinking due to the high mineral content. There is no cell service located at this property, but WiFi calling works. There is not a grill at this property as it tends to attract bears. Please note that there are two outdoor security cameras at the home - one at front door, one on back patio.

AREA: This home is appx 30 minutes to downtown Durango, 30 minutes to Vallecito Marina, and 55 minutes to Purgatory ski resort.
In winter (November through April), 4WD is required. It is NECESSARY that you have a four-wheel-drive vehicle, vehicles with medium to high clearance and winter/snow tires. Although the roads and driveway are well-maintained, they are very steep and curvy, and will be snow packed and slick.

PETS: This home is pet friendly! We allow a maximum of 2 dogs max and the pet fee is $40/day (for a max $250 per stay). Pets must be crated if they are left home alone.

COOLING: Please note that, like most properties in the area, this home does not have AC, as it is uncommon for homes at this elevation. Temperatures inside the property are easily managed by using fans and opening the windows at night when temperatures drop into the 40s.

Road & Parking:
• April–October: The unpaved road is easily passable in a standard vehicle.

• The driveway is private, so the only traffic you’ll see is your own or possibly our tractor.

Laundry Access:

The guesthouse is located above our secondary garage and requires climbing a flight of stairs. Please consider this when booking, as we are unable to accommodate guests with mobility challenges. The garage is rarely used (primarily for storage), and the guesthouse has a completely separate, private entrance.

• Pets & Service Animals: Due to allergies and local wildlife, we are unable to host animals of any kind, including service animals.
• Smoking & Open Flames: Smoking/drugs, vaping, candles, or outdoor fires are strictly prohibited—indoors and outdoors. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy to ensure guest safety and property care.

Hassle-Free Stay:
• We don’t charge a cleaning fee and there’s no checkout task list for guests.
• Professional cleaning is provided after each stay for your convenience.

Our beautiful log buildings and cabins provide comfortable lodging for up to 70 people in both private bedrooms and group quarters. Our facility consists of bunk beds, single private rooms with queen beds and shared baths, and small family rooms with queen beds and a few sets of bunk beds. There are a total of 2 queen bed private rooms, 2 large family suites (2 queens with bunk beds and private bathrooms) and 6 additional private rooms with queens, single beds and lofts. we also have a large bunk room that can sleep up to 16.

When you rent Cross Bar X for your group, you reserve the entire facility. Other than our on-site caretakers, you are the only guests here.

As we are a large highly customizable facility, we have a sliding fee scale based on your group size. This allows a smaller group to rent just one of the buildings, but also for a large group to rent more spaces. Our base rate includes up to 20 guests and one lodge. Each additional guest over 20 is $20 per person, per night. Once your group exceeds 20, you will have access to other on-site lodges and our large commercial dining space and kitchen. If you are curious about what your total cost will be, VRBO calculates the total cost if you put in the total number of attendees.

Conveniently located 45 minutes from skiing and snowboarding at Durango Mountain Resort and 20 minutes southeast of Historic Downtown Durango, the whole of the Four Corners is at your fingertips to guarantee your group has a wonderful time in beautiful Southwestern Colorado!

Your group will have access to 130 scenic acres, hiking trails, our private lake, and more to escape from the noise, hustle, and bustle of everyday life.

For groups that exceed 20, you can also utilize our fully furnished commercial kitchen and dining facilities to prepare meals as affordably or extravagantly as you choose. This allows your group to operate on your own schedule in a relaxed atmosphere.

There is a TV and wifi available in our two main lodges and around various parts of the property. Linens and bedding are not provided for the single bunk beds. We do provide linens and pillows for the queen beds. You will need to provide your own bath towels.

Please note, our facility is a drug, smoking, and marijuana-free facility. There are also no pets allowed (service animals are allowed).

Here is a breakdown of each of our lodges:

ALPINE LODGE (we have a video tour of this lodge in our photos)
Alpine Lodge is a cozy log building that sleeps up to 20 guests. Built with the same hand-peeled log construction as Eagle, Alpine Lodge offers comfortable, ranch-style accommodations with a homey, relaxed atmosphere.

The first floor contains a fully supplied kitchen, 2 private bedrooms with queen beds, a full bath, and a large living area/meeting room. The top floor of Alpine contains 6 bunk bedrooms (2 with queens) with 18 beds and 2 commercial bathrooms equipped with 2 showers, 2 sinks, and 2 toilets each. There is wifi and a TV in the common area. The basement contains a game room and includes ping-pong, pool, carpet ball, foosball, and air hockey, and more. There is also a large attached covered porch that is great for group grilling and the lawn has a horseshoe pit for the perfect warm evening outside. The lodge is equipped with central heating and a wood-burning stove for additional warmth in the winter. This building also contains our laundry room.

EAGLE LODGE

Eagle Lodge is a log building that provides a large commercial kitchen and indoor/outdoor dining and meeting area for up to 100 people. Built with logs from the scenic San Juan Mountains, Eagle Lodge offers a rustic dining experience with modern amenities.

The commercial kitchen is fully furnished with a six-burner gas range, large griddle, and 2 convection ovens. There are also commercial refrigerators, a freezer, commercial sink, microwave, coffee makers, ice machine, toasters, stand mixer, and all the food preparation items you should need. The kitchen is supplied with enough place settings for 100 people. It is also stocked with dish soap, dishwashing supplies, trash bags, other cleaning supplies, and aprons.

10 round tables indoors seat up to 8 each. A covered and enclosable outdoor patio provides additional seating for up to 100 total. The indoor dining space can be easily cleared and set up for large meetings and is equipped with a projector, screen, and sound system that can be utilized for an additional fee. There are also two restrooms located inside Eagle Lodge.

THE BUNKHOUSE
The Bunkhouse is a large, dorm-style building that sleeps up to 30 with an incredible view of the Florida River valley. This building offers three separate sleeping areas and two large bathrooms complete with showers.

This building has two cabin spaces on the main floor independent of each other. Each side is equipped with a queen bed, couch, and 2, two-person bunks. Each of the main floor rooms is connected to its own bathroom with 3 sinks, 3 toilets, and 2 shower stalls. The upper floor has 10, two-person bunks and share the downstairs bathrooms. This building is equipped with in-floor heating for the winter.

PLEASE NOTE

- As we rent our entire facility to one large group at a time, we do not offer any refunds once the facility is booked. We do recommend a third party insurance policy like AAA, Allianz Global, etc... We find these are affordable and will cover your expenses in the event of unforeseen cancelation.

- We do not allow weddings hosted at the ranch and we also do not rent the facility from mid-May to Mid July.

- We do not allow group gatherings that are open to non-overnight guests.

- The ropes course and zip line are an additional cost of $15 per person, per hour and must be reserved two weeks in advance of your stay. The Giant Swing requires a group of at least 15 healthy participants to be a pull team. We will be unable to facilitate the Giant Swing with a group smaller than this. The ropes course and Giant Swing are only available from April 1st to Oct 1st.

- The property does not allow outdoor fires. This is an insurance requirement and is not negotiable. It's out of our hands!

This well appointed, low key cabin is the storybook mountain cabin. Nestled in an aspen grove and sitting slightly above Lake Purgatory it boasts a short walk to the private lake making it easy to go canoeing or paddle boarding. At the end of a short dirt road with one other cabin on the road, this home feels like a secluded paradise!

Winter months provide a backcountry sort of experience without having to go deep into the woods. While the cabin is just over a mile from HWY 550, during a snow storm guests will likely have to park approximately 50 yards from the cabin and walk, ski, or snowshoe in. Even though the road is maintained, the hill at the top of the driveway becomes unsurpassable in big snowstorms. This is exciting for the adventurers at heart! If this is for you, make sure you grab a bundle of wood on your way in and warm up next to the fire!

During summer months the driveway greets you with wild chamomile and mint, the lake sparkles beyond the aspen's leaves and the Needles Cliffs hang proudly around the backdrop. Find quiet solitude, and gather with your closest friends and family here.

Surrounded by aspens, this is a gorgeous resting spot for leaf peeping adventures. Soak in the view from the picture windows, bird watch from bed, and gaze at the incredible night sky.

Offering two cozy rooms with baseboard heat, picture windows, and comfortable beds, plus a sleeping loft/media room with futon sofas, this cabin is the perfect setting for an intimate group to call home base while they explore Durango's big back yard!

No matter what the season is, our guests find good friends and family around the fire pit on the patio, and enjoy gourmet meals in the fully stocked and updated kitchen.

We are approx 12 minutes from downtown Durango and 15 minutes to Purgatory ski resort. There is plenty of great hiking trails within minutes of our home. PJ's grocery store is 5 miles down the road as is the newly remodeled Durango Hot Spring.

Staying in this home ensures a parking space for one passenger vehicle. If you need space for a 2nd vehicle, you just need to contact me in advance and I will make arrangements for you to be able to park that 2nd vehicle.

Anything other than a passenger vehicle (ie - trailer, camper, etc) must also be advised in advance. It can most likely be accommodated but in order to ensure a space, you must let me know in advance.

***Please contact me in advance of booking with pets. There will be an additional $25 pet fee required per dog. I'm sorry but there are no cats allowed. Dogs must be kenneled if kept inside the home alone.

***DO NOT FLUSH ANYTHING OTHER THAN TOILET PAPER IN OUR TOILETS. We have a sensitive septic system. Do not flush any wipes (baby wipes, flushable wipes etc) nor any feminine products in our toilets. Doing so will wreak havoc on our septic system and cause you to incur a $500 fine.

***All towles are to remain on site. They are not to be brought to the hot springs or on a hike or used to clean with. If the towels are stained, there will be an additional $25 charge for bath towels, $10 for hand towels, $5 for wash cloths.

***ABSOLUTELY NO PARTIES ALLOWED. Your reservation will be cancelled and you will be forced to leave immediately if this rule is not abided by.

Knotty and Nice Log Cabin is a 2100 sq ft, 3 bedroom 2 bath property. It is set in a peaceful neighborhood on a 3.5 acre lot nestled among the towering Ponderosas of the San Juans. This ideal mountain vacation cabin is 10 minutes from downtown Durango, 12 minutes from Lake Nighthorse, 16 minutes to Hesperus Ski Area and 40 minutes to Purgatory Ski Resort. The woods are your backyard where wildlife abounds. Lake Nighthorse is open to swimming, fishing, boating and more, spanning more than 1,500 acres. Between (29) days and fifteen (15) days before arrival, guest will be refunded 50% of the reservation amount. (14) days or less to arrival, no refunds given.
For reservations that are at least thirty (30) nights, the cancellation policy increases to sixty (60) days prior to the arrival date to receive a 100% refund minus a $250 cancellation fee Cancellations made between thirty-one (31) days in advance of your arrival and (59) days will receive a 50% refund.

The property is named for the woman who lived here for 75 years & who was an important figure in the Durango community. The Roberta Barr has been renown throughout the Animas River Valley for many years.

The Roberta Barr includes a beautifully restored historic 1930s log cabin with king bed, glamping Honey House barn with hanging king bed & two twin loft beds & comfy Sioux tepee with queen bed. The cabin is furnished with the utmost regard to quality, taste & detail.

The 8 acre park like setting includes beautiful manicured & natural areas. The property is bordered by 1/3 mile of the Hermosa Creek & boasts a good sized trout pond. The property also has a large clear water natural swimming hole. There are over 120 fruit trees throughout the property including cherry, apple, pear, peach, plum, apricot & a large raspberry patch.

Owners Alice & Eric Foultz are long-time 2nd homeowners in Durango. During bicycle rides they would visit with Roberta, who in her late 90's would sit on her front porch & say hello to those walking or biking past her amazing historic rose & perennial flower gardens. This A-frame cabin/tiny home is a one bedroom and one bath. Its perfect for 1 or 2 people. It has a walk-in shower, king bed, 42' inch smart TV, wireless internet access, AC/Heat, two burner electric cook top, a medium size under the counter fridge with small freezer, electric tea pot, single serve drip coffee maker, a small insta-pot, and all the kitchen wear you need to prepare small meals. A stay here, is an experience. You are surrounded by cliffs, valleys and mountains. Its a "small space" at 400 sq/ft, but filled with character, beauty and all the comforts of home. This is a unique “tiny home”. Nestled on a serene 2-acre parcel, our cozy cabin offers breathtaking views, vibrant sunsets, and a canopy of brilliant stars. While the cabin provides a peaceful retreat, please note that it is situated with other homes nearby. An owner-occupied house is also located on the property, approximately 40 yards away. This means you won't be in complete isolation or a backcountry wilderness setting. However, you'll enjoy a comfortable and private stay with the added assurance of nearby assistance if needed. We offer plenty of privacy and easy access to everything Durango has to offer. Work from home or get out and enjoy the area.

Parking for 1 vehicle. AWD or 4WD recommended in winter months, FWD is questionable and RWD is not sufficient.

People come here to take adventures and explore the amazing area! But if you do want to relax, the open living room has a 42 smart TV, sofa, lounge chair, ottoman and side table. The private bedroom offers a king size Zinus green tea mattress (made of premium high density memory foam layers), AC, small closet and a 50" inch smart tv. The bathroom has a sparkling clean modern look and walk-in shower. Soft towels and bathroom essentials are provided.

For 28+ day stays please inquire about security deposit, laundry, housecleaning, trash removal. Lease is required.

The cabin has it's own designated parking space and outside area with 5 outdoor chairs, and a clothes drying line. In spring, summer and fall, sip morning coffee or eat al fresco enjoying fresh mountain air, you will likely see deer.

No pets, please do not ask. 2 guest maximum, please do not ask for more. The sofa is not a pull out or for sleeping.

Wifi is available and a SmartTV with access to many apps. You can sign in under your subscription to Netflix, Hulu, and more.

A starter set of supplies like toilet paper, paper towels, etc. is provided. For longer stays, guests should provide their own.

This cabin is a “tiny” home! It’s 400 sq ft. With that, there is limited space. There is not a “large closet”, there is a small storage closet in the bedroom with space for hanging and standard clothing items etc. The hot water heater is not designed for back to back long hot showers. It’s small and highly capable, but will drain quickly. Be patient, more hot water will be available once the system re-charges. The water supply comes from a well and is safe to drink (there’s also a filter in the fridge). Please don’t be alarmed by the white residue that sometimes appears on the faucets, or utencils—it’s just natural mineral deposits from the hard water. This can make it difficult to achieve crystal-clear drinking glasses, and spotless silver wear as it tends to leave water spots. We thoroughly clean all kitchenware after each guest and do our best to ensure everything is spotless. There is a small storage shed near the cabin, you can store bike/skis/equipment there if necessary.

-As mentioned, the water heater tank is small, taking consecutive hot showers is not recommended. You will likely run out of hot water. Please allow time for the system to recharge. We don't want this to cause you problems during your stay.

This upstairs 1/1 overlooks Lemon Lake surrounded by the San Juan mountains. We have 46 acres on property with miles of hiking trails, horse trails, and plenty of exploring for the whole family.

We are at 8300 ft so expect snow during the winter.

Downtown Historic Durango is 25 min and Purgatory is 1 hour.

We have a bon fire pit further up the mountain just behind your stay so bring the kiddos and have a great family time together.

Escape to a cozy and peaceful cabin in Hesperus for a cozy retreat. Our cabin sits on 35 acres in a beautiful valley in Southwestern Colorado. Rustic and cozy, this 742 sf cabin has a bedroom with a full bed and a loft with 4 twin beds. Get away from it all and relax in a quiet atmosphere. Kickback, relax, and enjoy everything our little slice of heaven has to offer. Pets are allowed. The cabin is supplied by well water + is 9 miles down a graded road so expect a 4wd vehicle in the winter and quite a bit of dust on the car in the summer. The water is well water so note that it can leave skin feeling dry (which we supply lots of lotion) and can feel mineral like. Please note we received a negative review from a woman named Deborah that you shall see below. Hosts Story: We look forward to your stay and wish to share a sneak-peek into how our dream cabin became a reality.

Greg & Beth grew up in small mid-western towns, relocating to Durango, CO in 2004. After years of working in parks & recreation and the brewery & liquor industries, Greg decided to truly apply the knowledge and skills of his 1998 forestry bachelor degree from The Ohio State University.

In 2021, we purchased a sawmill and started harvesting & milling pines from the cabin site & local forests. Countless tedious hours over many months were spent creating the timber structure made of dowel joinery. By spring of 2023, we were 'raising the roof', with cabin completion in August 2024.

Whether watching the sun sink in the western sky, viewing the monsoon rain clouds roll through in the late summer months or gazing out at the snowcapped peaks of Kenebec Pass above La Plata Canyon in the San Juan Mountains, our views are breathtaking! May you enjoy a Peek at the Peaks from the porch of our private cabin!

Marked trails weave around the property for early morning coffee walk or a moonlit snowshoe - courtesy snowshoes are available for guests. Deer frequent the property as well.

The space
The original structure was a Log Cabin, lived in full time by the original family while they built the main house in the mid 1970's. The Cabin now serves as a detached garage, with the back of the structure and the entire upstairs fully renovated into a tasteful Cabin Studio Loft.

Updated with sustainability in mind, beetle kill pine lines the ceiling and floor, reclaimed lumber accents pair with new concrete counter tops to add a modern rustic touch to the original Log Cabin.

The loft upstairs includes a Queen bed and Queen pull-out sofa and optional Twin pull out sofa downstairs. Ideal for couples, it can accommodate small families with young kids. With an upstairs work space, in unit washer/dryer, and well-stocked kitchenette, it is the perfect Basecamp for a couple, small family, or friends getaway!

A large private deck out back provides back door access via a lighted walk way to the private entrance. With views of the pines and mountain ridge lines provides a relaxing outdoor space to our guests, while only minutes from the amenities of town.

Guests have coded access to the apartment. There is ample parking in the circle driveway as well.

We welcome well behaved dogs to our property, but out of respect for our home and other guests, we ask that they remain off the furniture and adequately supervised at all times to avoid additional cleaning or pet damage fees.

The property has 2 trails that combine for approximately 0.5mi and a large backyard fire pit area (having fires in the fire pit are dependent on local forest fire risk at the time of visit).

Our family resides in the main house, also listed as Basecamp Durango, which is open to guests when we are out adventuring.

The outdoor areas (except the Cabin’s private deck) are shared with family, friends, and other guests.

Other things to note
Bedroom studio and primary living area are located upstairs, while kitchen area, bathroom, and small living area are downstairs on the entry level.

Please keep this in mind when booking if anyone in your group has mobility difficulties, as it is not easily accessible for older dogs, toddlers, or adults with mobility concerns due to the stairs.

Guests will enjoy approx. 1800 sq. ft. of the upper level log home. Centrally located to downtown, airport, casino and popular tourists attractions. We live on the property, but separate from the log home and are here to help our guests as we can. The cabin sits at 8000 feet on a hillside approximately 20 minutes east of downtown Durango. It is newly renovated and will comfortably sleep 2-4 guests.

The cabin is a great base camp for your adventures. Hiking, biking or swimming are 15 minutes away. Purgatory Resort and Wolf Creek are respectively 50 and 90 minutes away.

AWD or 4x4 is required in winter to drive up the .33 mile access road to the cabin. While plowed, the road is steep and can be covered in snow and ice during winter.

The space
The cabin is 500 square feet downstairs and the upstairs is 400 square feet.

There is no television.

Starlink Wi-Fi is available and works great for streaming/casual use. Internet connection may be interrupted so those intending to Zoom and work may have to go into town to a co-working space.

Cell phone coverage is unavailable due to the surrounding mountains. Please turn on wi-fi calling while you have service to make calls or text via wi-fi at the cabin.

The space
The Whimsy A-frame sits on 3 beautiful wooded acres located in Southern Colorado just 10 min from downtown Durango, 40 min to Purgatory Ski Resort, 40 min to Mesa Verde National Park, and 1 hr to Pagosa Springs. Our newly built home was thoughtfully designed to create a cozy basecamp for all of your adventures

Winter:
4WD is required during winter months (Nov - Feb). The road will be plowed after 5” of snow but it is always best to make sure you have chains or 4WD just in case.

Access: as a heads up, like many homes in Colorado, our home is .7 miles up a dirt road!!

Living Space:
The Whimsy A-Frame is 800 Square feet with an open and airy floor plan! Our full size kitchen has a compact yet spacious retro fridge and freezer, pots & pans, electric stove, microwave, toaster, Keurig and pods, and other cooking essentials (olive oil, salt, pepper, spoons, cups, silverware, etc.). The living and dining area are large enough to fit all 6 guests with plenty of extra space. There is a TV above the fireplace that doubles as a picture when not in use!


Beds:
On the lower level there is one bedroom with a queen size bed and a stackable washer/dryer in the closet. The living room sofa pulls out to make a comfy queen size bed. Linen for the pull out bed can be found in the “hidden storage” next to the couch. The loft bedroom has a king size bed and a working desk in case you need to work remote! Both bedrooms have their own mini split system so you can control the temperatures in your room independently! All beds have memory foam mattresses and high-quality linens to ensure a great nights sleep!


Bath:
There is one full size bath on the lower level that is stocked with hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. All towels are freshly-washed right before your stay. There is a tub and shower combo that has a foldable door to make bath time a breeze for kiddos!


Internet:

We have a designated workspace in the loft and high speed internet to the house. Network and Password will be shared after booking!


Outdoor Living:
Our outdoor spaces offer two great experiences for your stay! Enjoy coffee on the front porch with a mountain view or relax and unwind by the fire-pit on the large outdoor deck overlooking the trees!


Parking/Neighborhood Info:
There is ample free parking on the site! The home is located on a private easement shared with one other neighbor. Because of this, there is almost no traffic on that road! We do ask that you be courteous of our neighbors and stick to the posted speed limit while driving to our home!

Welcome to our charming A-frame cabin/tiny home in Durango, Colorado; just 5 miles outside of town. This picturesque cabin is located in a stunning area, surrounded by towering cliffs, offering an idyllic retreat for nature lovers and adventurers alike. As you arrive you'll be immediately captivated by its modern charm and the tranquility of its surroundings. This cabin is in a neighborhood on a 2 acre parcel. There are other structures visible. The space
This A-frame cabin/tiny home is a one bedroom and one bath. Its perfect for 1 or 2 people. It has a walk-in shower, king bed, 42' inch smart TV, wireless internet access, AC/Heat, two burner electric cook top, a medium size under the counter fridge with small freezer, electric tea pot, single serve drip coffee maker, a small insta-pot, and all the kitchen wear you need to prepare small meals. A stay here, is an experience. You are surrounded by cliffs, valleys and mountains. Its a "small space" at 400 sq/ft, but filled with character, beauty and all the comforts of home. This is a unique “tiny home”. Nestled on a serene 2-acre parcel, our cozy cabin offers breathtaking views, vibrant sunsets, and a canopy of brilliant stars. While the cabin provides a peaceful retreat, please note that it is situated with other homes nearby. An owner-occupied house is also located on the property, approximately 40 yards away. This means you won't be in complete isolation or a backcountry wilderness setting. However, you'll enjoy a comfortable and private stay with the added assurance of nearby assistance if needed. We offer plenty of privacy and easy access to everything Durango has to offer. Work from home or get out and enjoy the area.

Parking for 1 vehicle. AWD or 4WD recommended in winter months, FWD is questionable and RWD is not sufficient.

People come here to take adventures and explore the amazing area! But if you do want to relax, the open living room has a 42 smart TV, sofa, lounge chair, ottoman and side table. The private bedroom offers a king size Zinus green tea mattress (made of premium high density memory foam layers), AC, small closet and a 50" inch smart tv. The bathroom has a sparkling clean modern look and walk-in shower. Soft towels and bathroom essentials are provided.

For 28+ day stays please inquire about security deposit, laundry, housecleaning, trash removal. Lease is required.

The cabin has it's own designated parking space and outside area with 5 outdoor chairs, and a clothes drying line. In spring, summer and fall, sip morning coffee or eat al fresco enjoying fresh mountain air, you will likely see deer.

No pets, please do not ask. 2 guest maximum, please do not ask for more. The sofa is not a pull out or for sleeping.

Wifi is available and a SmartTV with access to many apps. You can sign in under your subscription to Netflix, Hulu, and more.

A starter set of supplies like toilet paper, paper towels, etc. is provided. For longer stays, guests should provide their own.

This cabin is a “tiny” home! It’s 400 sq ft. With that, there is limited space. There is not a “large closet”, there is a small storage closet in the bedroom with space for hanging and standard clothing items etc. The hot water heater is not designed for back to back long hot showers. It’s small and highly capable, but will drain quickly. Be patient, more hot water will be available once the system re-charges. The water supply comes from a well and is safe to drink (there’s also a filter in the fridge). Please don’t be alarmed by the white residue that sometimes appears on the faucets, or utencils—it’s just natural mineral deposits from the hard water. This can make it difficult to achieve crystal-clear drinking glasses, and spotless silver wear as it tends to leave water spots. We thoroughly clean all kitchenware after each guest and do our best to ensure everything is spotless. There is a small storage shed near the cabin, you can store bike/skis/equipment there if necessary.

If your arrival date is within 30 days of booking, payment in full is required at the time of booking. Cancellations or changes that are made more than thirty (30) days in advance of your arrival will receive a 100% refund minus a $250 cancellation fee. Between (29) days and fifteen (15) days before arrival, guest will be refunded 50% of the reservation amount. (14) days or less to arrival, no refunds given.
For reservations that are at least thirty (30) nights, the cancellation policy increases to sixty (60) days prior to the arrival date to receive a 100% refund minus a $250 cancellation fee Cancellations made between thirty-one (31) days in advance of your arrival and (59) days will receive a 50% refund.

Staying in this home ensures a parking space for one passenger vehicle. If you need space for a 2nd vehicle, you just need to contact me in advance and I will make arrangements for you to be able to park that 2nd vehicle.

Anything other than a passenger vehicle (ie - trailer, camper, etc) must also be advised in advance. It can most likely be accommodated but in order to ensure a space, you must let me know in advance.

Located 16 miles from Durango, this scenic cabin allows you to leave your busy life behind for a while and enjoy the privacy of nature. During the winter, we recommend using a 4x4 vehicle to get here safely.

Wood accents and vaulted ceilings create a wide open main living area - the perfect spot to get together. Catch up with your favorite book as the wood stove warms the room, or choose a vinyl from the collection to play on the stereo-style turntable. With no WiFi or TV, you'll be able to connect with your guests and make some alpine memories.

The private washer/dryer will keep the dirty clothes at bay while you take Fido out on the deck to bask in the views. Spend the afternoon sipping a local brew as the sun dips past the trees.

Make dinner in the fully equipped kitchen while your guests kick back at the breakfast bar. Put the stainless steel appliances to work, and then dine on the deck while the dishwasher takes care of the cleanup.

This lakeside cabin is a cozy, well appointed mountain getaway nestled in the aspens . It’s an easy walk to Lake Purgatory, and a short drive to Purgatory Ski Resort. It boasts a secluded feel, gorgeous view, and updated interior. While summer access is easy, winter guests must have a 4wd vehicle with high clearance, tire chains. A willingness to park at the top and hike, sled, ski or snowshoe about 50 yards to the cabin is required! Pets welcomed, but must be pre approved by Host.

Making memories with friends and family is the key to a happy life. Our cabin is cozy, well appointed with an open floor plan that is great for entertaining an intimate group. Gather around the oversized kitchen table for a home cooked gourmet meal, or sit around the patio and take in the mountain air, gorgeous sunsets and countless stars.

The cabin has 2 bedrooms. One bedroom has a queen, one has 2 doubles (trundle).

There is also an open air loft family room that rises above the living room, that features 2 queen size futon couches and a large closet for belongings.

Recently updated, the kitchen and bathroom offer modern amenities while keeping the mountain cabin feel. The kitchen comes fully stocked with all the tools your party will need to cook gourmet meals, or prepare the sides for a BBQ feast. A south facing patio offers a BBQ, fire pit and the perfect setting for relaxing after a day playing in Durango's big back yard.

There is ample parking for 2-3 cars and toys in the driveway, and easy access to the cabin in the summer, spring and fall.

\We want you to be aware that during our snowy months, this driveway can become inaccessible by even the most aggressive 4wd vehicles. Our guests at these times will park at the top of the hill and walk 50-100 yards to the front door. Many guests may use toboggans, sleds, or packs to get their gear to the cabin. Please feel welcome to contact our Property Manager for assistance during check-in and check- out if needed.

Please note cell service is spotty, at best. While WiFi speed is upgraded, the service can also run spotty as demand in the area seems to bog the availability.

ATTENTION! Colorado, like most Western states are experiencing extreme drought. As a result, we ask that you take extra precautions with outdoor flames. We ask that you not have a fire pit at the cabin until conditions improve.

The unique property is one of the last houses before it turns to dirt in La Plata Canyon. You will love to relax and immerse yourself in the aspen forest and take time to disconnect. There are private cross country ski and hiking trails on the property as well as national forest access. The La Plata River is just across the street and accessible.

The custom built play structure is available as a shared space if you wish to play.

A charming guest cabin on a beautiful 8 acre property! The cabin over looks two ponds, and is just a short walk to Coon Creek! Lots of hiking trails near by and only a 12 to 15 minute drive into the town of Durango and 15 minutes north to Purgatory Ski Resort. The cozy cabin is an open concept layout with the bedroom up in the loft! Please note there are steep stairs leading up to the loft which has a low ceiling. There is also a pickleball court on the property!

Cold season : we heat the home with infloor heat which does not heat air, and the woodstove is used to warm the air. Instructions on how to use a woodstove are included in the home info packet on the refrigerator. Wood is stacked outside for woodstove use. A canvas carrier is provided.

Warm season: There is no air conditioning so we keep blinds down during the day and nightly open windows and turn ceiling fans on for cross ventilation. Nights are typically in 50-60 degrees and with windows open the breeze cools it down.

Portable Fans in every room help distribute air.

The hot tub is not fenced , CO law does not allow children 12 and under unattended in hot tub an adult must be supervising.

This vintage cabin was built in 1974, and remains in near original condition with beautiful exposed timber. It's an older house with quirks! Decor is minimal southwest art deco/ neuveau forest fusion! Coniferous and bright!

The space
The big open floor plan makes this the perfect space to bring your friends and family to have a great time! Whether you are playing games in the living room or enjoying a quiet cup of coffee on the huge deck, there's space for everyone here. Swim in the residents only pond available across the highway during warmer months. The two car garage will keep your cars warm and dry in the winter and cool in the summer!

The 'Rafter J Hideaway' is a quiet mountain getaway, situated on 4 acres, overlooking the most incredible views of the La Plata mountain range. This rustic A-frame cabin has a newly renovated interior, with upgrades throughout. Just 5 miles to downtown Durango, and a short drive to Lake Nighthorse. Whether you want to escape and relax for a few days or have a beautiful place to explore, this place is for you!

The space
Main level of the home includes the kitchen, dining area, bedroom and full bath. The loft area includes a bedroom, half bath and workspace.

In the summer we have an evaporative cooler on the main level of the home.

For the colder months, we have a propane furnace located on the main level and baseboard heating in the bedroom. We recommend utilizing the wood-burning fireplace for heat throughout the entire home. We provide more than enough firewood for the length of your stay.

Please be prepared for winter driving in the mountains to access the property. AWD or 4WD is MANDATORY from November through April.

To access the loft area you must be able to manage a spiral staircase. If you have children, please be extra careful around the staircase.

Please keep in mind that this is an A-frame style cabin, and some features reflect this, including the structural beams located in the loft area.

Our beautiful mountain home is nestled between Durango and Pagosa Springs Colorado. Whether you are looking for a quite, private and secluded vacation spot or a home between two local ski resorts (Purgatory and Wolf Creek) this home offers the best of both worlds. This is also a great hunting spot, less than a quarter mile walk to public hunting property held by BLM. You can walk right out the door and hike, snow shoe, or sled down the driveway. We are not present when the home is occupied.

The space
This is a full home rental and we are not present when it is rented. We do have grounds keepers that you may see watering, performing lawn care, or snow removal but they do try to do this when the home is not occupied. The home sits on 500 acres of family owned land. The driveway is shared by two other home owners but the home is secluded and private. The internet is great for a mountain home, capable of streaming TV, Zoom meetings, etc. I worked from home before moving. Please message us for questions.

Our cabin boasts rustic furniture that has been hand crafted using the finest wood from the San Juan National Forest. Gorgeous mountain views right from the front porch. Come enjoy your morning coffee or evening glass of wine from our porch swing. Keurig coffee maker with pods upon your arrival. There are books for all ages as well as board games. Smart TV that you can access using your own streaming accounts, high speed internet. The kitchen is fully stocked as well. Outdoor gas grill for all of you grilling lovers. Nestled between downtown Durango and Purgatory Ski Resort. Approximately 10 miles away from both. You'll find all the Southwest Colorado has to offer is conveniently located very close to our location.

Staying in this home ensures a parking space for two passenger vehicles. If you need space for a 3rd vehicle, you just need to contact me in advance and I will make arrangements for you to be able to park that 3rd vehicle.

Anything other than a passenger vehicle (ie - trailer, camper, etc) must also be advised in advance. It can most likely be accommodated but in order to ensure a space, you must let me know in advance.

Gorgeous log cabin living at its finest! A very private estate on 7 acres wildlife is very abundant. Rooms are very spacious two bedrooms with a private bathroom. Laundry facilities available. Gym equipment in garage at your own risk. We continue to upgrade our cabin so we appreciate your feedback! This is a new home for us and love sharing with other nature lovers. ** we have recently built a sauna but it is not hooked up just yet and are installing a new fireplace on the deck but these will not be ready until mid January

You may access all except for one of our garage slots and the work room underneath the house. Almost 3000 ft.² should be plenty of room to enjoy your vacation! There is also a gazebo above the house with a small fire pit. *** Please note we have an antique pinball machine that is not operational yet and also a drum set that is not for the general public. There is a Tipi on the property that is also not open for the public at this time we do not advertise these items in our description Therefore, do not want anybody to be disappointed when they arrive and cannot use them.

Other things to note
This is a brand new home to us so we will be working on adding new amenities and beautiful landscaping… we do not have central AC - however we do have several floor ac units, a swamp cooler, fans and it cools off at nite so generally ac is not needed. But please be aware if you do not use the swamp cooler the cabin can get toasty during the day but does cool off tremendously at night. We also recently had our log cabin sandblasted and re-stained so on windy days sometimes there might be a little sand that comes out of the crevices, although we have done our best every now and againsome of it may fall on the kitchen table or on the inside of the cabin. The cabin is very clean and this is beyond our control at the moment.
