There is parking for one or two thoughtfully parked cars in the driveway but only one way access. 4WD or AWD capability is required in winter to access the Ski Valley and this cabin.
The house is situated just off Twining Rd in the base area village which means it's an easy walk/ski or short drive to the ski lifts (through a neighborhood and over a bridge to Pioneer Lift) depending on the skills of the guest. Getting back to the house from the lifts requires a walk. It's a comfortable walk for those who don't mind the hike, but families with less physical fitness will prefer driving 2 minute to base area free parking and taking the shuttle to the lift drop off.

The Michael Martin Murphey (MMM) Cabin is located 3.5 miles from Red River on Bobcat’s Peak. We purchased the home from Mr. Murphey in 2004 and have tried as much as possible to keep the cabin as it was when he spent time in it writing songs, perfecting his music and enjoying its solitude. A number of memorabilia signed by Murph adorns the house. On occasion he and his family rent the cabin back from us to enjoy the seclusion of a quiet get-away in the mountains. Murph says he feels at home at the cabin because we haven't changed it very much. The cabin sits on six acres at an elevation of 10,200 feet and borders the Carson National Forest. The views to the West are of meadows where elk and deer come out of the forest in the summer, sometimes in the winter for a late evening and early morning snack. Summer brings the hummingbirds, chipmunks, ground squirrels, Stellar jays and grey jays (camp robbers) and chickadees, occasionally a wild turkey or a bear. We do have neighbors but most have jobs and are only able to get away a few days now and then, two of our neighbors are full-timers but work commitments seem to keep them away from home quite a bit. We are close by down at the Bobcat Mountain Lodge, if you need something.
The MMM cabin is an authentic log cabin, logs 12-16 inches, two porches, one on either side of the house and a back deck with a small grill and a train grill/smoker made especially for Mr. Murphey. The porches have chairs for relaxing and the deck has chairs and a table for outdoor eating. Mr. Murphey ordered the logs from Tennessee and had the cabin built in 1993. The kitchen counter tops are of galvanized steel, per Mr. Murphey, made to stand fish cleaning, or anything else that needed doing when preparing food! The cabin dining area has deer antler chandelier and a dining table, with what we call twig furniture. Each chair has a sheep skin to ease the derriere a bit when sitting on the twig. The cabin has several twig rockers with sheepskins so that you can sit by the real wood-burning rock fireplace in the living area. We furnish firewood free for your use as extra heat in the winter and in the summer to just knock a bit of the chill off. Summer nights can easily get down into the 40s and 50s! Nothing feels as good as a warm fire, in a log cabin high in the mountains! Please clean the ashes from the fireplace before your departure and put them in the trash can at the back steps. This helps prevent forest fires. Please NO SMOKING in the cabin. If you are a smoker, please smoke outside and carefully dispose of all butts. New Mexico has been a drought for more than three years. A careless butt could burn our beautiful forests and our forests would not recover in our lifetimes. The living area has a flat screen TV. We have a number of paperbacks on our book shelves, games, and a couple of decks of cards for quiet times when you are not out and about. We do not have a phone. We are in process of getting Wi-Fi in the cabin. Wi-Fi is available at the library in Red River usually 3G or better.
The cabin has a washer and dryer for your convenience. The cabin does not have a dishwasher so don’t forget paper plates. We provide towels, linens, supplies, such as, toilet paper, dishwashing liquid, and laundry detergent and trash bags. The cabin has a coffee pot, toaster, crock pot, hand mixer, full set of dishes and silverware for six people, pots and pans, microwave. A half bath down stairs, with a sink and commode, the upstairs bathroom has a sink, a door closes to the commode and claw foot tub for bathing and has a shower curtain surround on the claw foot tub when showers are your thing. The two bedrooms are upstairs. One bedroom has a queen-size bed; the second bedroom has a queen size bed, and two twin beds. The cabin will sleep six people comfortably.
Parking is available for your four wheeler and snowmobile trailers with easy turn-around. The cabin property connects to the Carson National Forest. There are a few short logging roads that you can ride/walk on, but careful not to ride/walk on private property. Check with the Forest Service near Questa for required ATV permits. You can also walk into the Carson from the cabin to hunt. Northern New Mexico has a large population of elk. The area around the MMM cabin is Area 53. Trout fishing on the Red River, Fawn Lakes and at the town ponds is great fun and usually successful as the Red River is the most stocked river in the state of New Mexico. Eagle Nest Lake is 12 miles away and stocked with rainbows, perch and salmon. Northern Pike are also being caught in Eagle Nest Lake. The MMM Cabin is across Highway 38 from the Enchanted Cross Country Ski area and 3.5 miles from the Red River downhill ski area, approximately 25 miles from Angel Fire Ski area, 35 miles from Taos Ski area. Our neighbors at Bobcat Wilderness Adventures has snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, and horseback riding and Cowboy Evening, an evening of great food and entertainment just across Highway 38. Michael Martin Murphey provides an evening of entertainment as his venue on Bitter Creek (check his website for dates and details). Oh, and don’t forget River Rafting on the Rio Grande in the summer, hook up with a Rafting company in Taos, if you have a need to gamble there is the Taos Pueblo Casino.
Red River has a small grocery store and a number of restaurants. Some of the more popular restaurants require reservations. Red River has a celebration for every holiday and seems to make some holidays up! It is a fun town. At the MMM cabin, you will be close enough to town to get into town for all the “doings” yet far enough away to enjoy some quiet relaxing time too.
Four-wheel drive is an absolute necessity in the winter from mid-October to mid-April. We plow the road and the MMM cabin driveway as needed. We have a 'Boss' snow plow and chains on our truck to clear the road down to the highway. You will still need a 4-wheel vehicle in the winter.

So you want to stay at the MMM cabin……

February 2016 Homeaway/VRBO has started charging the traveler a fee of 4-10% on a sliding scale. This fee does not come to the owners but goes directly to Homeaway for "improvements to" and advertising of Homeaway. I hate this for our guests, but can't do anything about it. My apologies for this additional fee.
You will be charged the nightly rate, plus 8.4375 tax, and $100 cleaning/supplies fee per stay. Most times we have a three (3) night minimum. A Refundable Damage Deposit of $200 will be charged initially and refunded to your credit card if no damage is found when cleaning the cabin. Bag and dispose of your trash at the dumpsters in Red River or Eagle Nest. Also, wash your dishes and put them away. Trash or dirty dishes will result in an a $25 charge to your damage deposit. Occasionally, due to commitments, we have to hire cleaning folks to clean the cabin and they don’t like to wash dishes or take out trash, thus the $25 charge to your damage deposit for either one. We clean the MMM cabin most of the time ourselves and we don’t like to wash dishes or take out trash either! Any damages will also be charged against your $200 damage deposit. It is not our desire to keep any portion of your damage deposit so do your dishes, take your trash and respect the MMM Cabin like you would your own home and you will see your damage deposit refunded to your credit card in 5-7 days after departure. If something doesn’t work properly, tell us and we will take care of it. We love the MMM cabin and believe you will too. Thanks in advance for treating the MMM cabin with the respect you would like for your own home.

Our little oak boxcar was built in 1898, and it rode the narrow gauge rails from southern New Mexico trying to reach Denver. Purchased from the Alamosa yard and moved to Pilar, NM, near Taos, Stephen used it to design passive solar systems when not building homes in Santa Fe. It became our place for romantic rendezvous before we built our family home.

Today it is our guesthouse. During several stages of remodeling we have tried to keep an authentic narrow-gauge boxcar feel to the space. We have added a Yodel gas stove, a Pullman kitchen with dining nook and closet, and most recently a bathroom with a very boxcar-esque sliding door. Our family members vie for the space when they are in town, and you can see why. It is so welcoming, and unique even for unique Taos. It isn't hard to imagine you are traveling the world on the historic Chili Line, even though there is wifi, a flat-screen TV, state-of-the-art lounging chairs for reading or TV viewing. The boxcar is powered by solar electric.

For the weary traveler the queen bed is firm and comfortable. Bamboo rayon sheets add a touch of elegance to the boxcar charm. We use only nontoxic, 'green' household products throughout. The 40' flat screen TV can be viewed from the bed or the lounges. The couch is a 'Taos Bed', easily made up to sleep a third guest. The Pullman kitchen includes china and wine glasses, a two-burner electric stove, a small fridge, a sink and a toaster oven. Perhaps best of all, the 'slipper' tub invites leisurely baths or hand-held showers while viewing hundreds of acres of agricultural land, seasonally resplendent with coyotes, rabbits, soaring hawks, nesting magpies, and cows grazing and sometimes calving.

Our property has a hot tub shared with the owner's, adjacent to the owner's home, which sits in a secluded, outdoor space, allowing the contemplation of sunrise, bird flight, cloud shift, stars and moon. Don one of the boxcar bathrobes and your flip flops and take a dip.

Quiet, private and on a dead-end road, some call the boxcar a sanctuary. We are located in Ranchos de Taos, 3.5 miles from the Taos Plaza, and just 40 minutes from the Taos Ski Valley. Come experience a bit of old railroad lore while visiting our beloved Taos, New Mexico.

This spectacular cabin is gorgeous inside and out. The front porch has sweeping views of the valley and mountains surrounding. Sit on the porch swing or the Adirondacks and take in the sounds of the Aspen leaves rustling and the river down below.

The Charlie Cabin is outfitted in pine and creates the dreamiest backdrop for your mountain stay. The beautiful sunlight in the mornings beams on either side of the majestic fireplace. Firewood is stocked for your stay to be sure you have a fire going as much as you'd like! Be sure and walk down to the river and enjoy the access to the riverfront.

Make yourself at home in our fully stocked kitchen with everything you'd need to cook your favorite meals. Plenty of counter space and basic kitchen supplies are also supplied: spices, cooking oil, foil, and ziplocks. It is a charming kitchen with beautiful views towards The National Forest! Claim Jumper A-Frame #3 is one of our newest vacation rentals and quickly becoming a favorite spot! This home has so much going for it! Not only is it in the perfect location of town to shops, restaurants, and the Red River Ski & Summer Area, it sits on the river and is around the corner from the Zipline and fishing ponds! Not to mention the hot tub for all of its guests to use! This home is a two-story property with a couple steps up onto the deck to enter. When you first come into A-Frame 3 you will find the living room accented with a soft sofa that folds down into a bed perfectly aligned with the wood-burning fireplace which captivates you as you watch the untamed flames dance amongst the wood. The large flat-screen TV allows you to comfortably sit and watch cable and a DVD player. Next to the living room, you will find a half bath and the dining area with a wood table with enough seating for 6 persons. The kitchen is fully equipped with all basic essentials for cooking, baking, and food preparations and does include a Keurig K-Cup coffee maker. Up the stairs, to the second level, you will find the master bedroom on the right furnished with a king bed, private balcony and TV, DVD, and VHS Player for added relaxation. The doorway between the two bedrooms leads to the newly updated full bathroom with lots of counters and cubby space. The guest bedroom includes a queen bed and one set of twin/full bunk beds. It is located directly across the street from the Platinum chair lift and about 1.5 blocks from the bunny slope. There is a great simple green trail that connects the two areas so coming home was a breeze for when we were with our little skiers! Sledding and tubing happen at the base of the bunny slope. The property was exactly as promised! Large TVs in the bedrooms and in the living room space. Nice fireplace. Nice hot tub just outside. The smores available at the Cave were a big hit with my kids, as were the large selection of games. The locks, the cleaners and our maintenance personnel all work on an automated schedules based on our published check-in time and check out times. In addition, we only have a narrow 5 hour window to prepare the property between the posted checkout time and the posted check-in time. For these reasons early check in or late checkout is no longer free and "may" be able to be purchased at a rate of $20/hour prior to check-in time, or $20/hour after listed checkout time.
The grill is available from mid-April to mid-October.

- "This house is amazing! It’s about 5 minutes from town. But it feels so secluded and quiet. 15 minutes from eagles nest lake. 1 hr from Taos and 2 hours from Santa Fe. We stayed here with our 2 teenage boys. They loved the deer in the backyard and the pool table. The Mountain View’s are breathtaking! In fact our 1st morning here we watched the sunrise from bed. The house was so clean and everything in the kitchen was so nice! The coffee bar had everything you could think of!!! The beds were comfy and the decks were an added bonus! Off Highway 434, these Guadalupita, New Mexico cottages offer full kitchens or kitchenettes, private entrances and patios with forest views. Cabin 14 is the first cabin in the row of cabins facing the river and has a semi-covered porch with a great view of the mountains. The river sounds are easily allowed inside by opening a window or door. This cabin is also just steps from the fishing pond! Cabin 14 is a 1 bedroom loft cabin. There is 1 king bed in the upstairs loft that is accessible by a wooden staircase. On the main floor is the living room with queen sofa bed, gas fireplace, full kitchen and bathroom with shower. This cabin will accommodate a maximum of 4 people including children. Cabin 14 is non-smoking and cannot accommodate pets.

- "It was larger than we had originally expected. The hot water gets very hot and stayed hot whenever we needed it. The king size bed is quite firm. The pans are not nonstick, so they’re less easy to clean. All the appliances worked as they should. Kitchenware is all there available. It was a nice stay. Aldous Huxley, the renown writer and frequent visitor to the trading post, actually wrote his book wrote Ends and Means here. He also built our outhouse sometime around 1937. Since there was no plumbing, Aldous took it upon himself to address that issue just to the cabin's south. The summer gardens are here for the watering and the picking. No meal is complete without lettuce, seasonal tomatoes, a few goji berries thrown into a meat or fish dish. The historic residence features a turnbuckle stretched across the ceiling with quiet window views in the creative space. Yet the opportunity beckons to herd the goats and sheep or to pull a few more weeds from the carrot patch.

Aldous Huxley’s Cabin is 500 sq ft It sleeps four people in a queen size bed and a fold out queen sofa bed. Fully equipped kitchen with a fridge, gas stove, pots and pans. The table seats four, there is a small enclosed garden area in the back.

I would definitely come back. Some advice, our cabin had limited counter space so we brought a 4 ft table to help with that. We did bring an extra cooler aswell because the fridge is a small collage dorm mini fridge. Little space to store meal items. I misunderstood about the jacuzzi, unfortunately, its community not private. So we didnt use it. But the experience here was amazing and i recommend staying here for a more serene and calm stay. A quick 25 min drive to everything you need and want. "

Cozy rustic cabin facing Eagle Nest Lake with spectacular views including Wheeler Peak, tallest in New Mexico. Fishing is just a few minutes away, and depending on the season, golf and skiing are nearby too.

Located in beautiful El Salto at the base of the Sango De Cristo mountains. Enjoy local hiking, biking, and a short walk to our lovely village of Arroyo Seco. There are delicious restaurants, bars, and amazing boutiques offering a wide range to suit your needs. Need some recommendations? We’ve got em’ ! The casita offers many comfortable accommodations. The main upstairs loft has a queen bed with a beautiful view which you can watch the sunsets from if you're not enjoying them from the outdoor patio. Downstairs there is a pull-out couch bed (single sleeper). The lovely private bathroom has a unique tiled shower with shampoo, conditioner & body wash along with nice bath towels and beauty/hair essentials. Each bed mattress is comfortable and we provide bedding, extra pillows and blankets.

Even though the adobe keeps the casita cool during the warmer weather season & keeps the heat in during the cooler winter weather, there is a ceiling fan and standing fan, space heater and a cozy wood burning stove.
Take time to relax and enjoy a meal or book in the private back yard area with an outdoor sitting patio enjoying the sounds of birds and view of the trees and amazing sunsets.

Enjoy reading material or games during your stay and if you enjoy TV, we offer streaming services such as Netflix, amazon prime, Hulu, Apple TV, Heart radio and more- which will require you to sign into your personal account to access these channels or enjoy the non sign-in free channels available. Bluetooth speaker is available for music listening or your favorite podcasts you like to listen to.

There is a designated gravel parking space for your vehicle right next to the casita. If you need to charge your vehicle, we have a Solar Edge EV charger which may fit most car plug ins- let me know when you need a charge.

Our casita has areas which require using steps outside and stairs inside to the upstairs loft- which may not be ideal for anyone with mobility issues.

Our neighborhood is quiet and peaceful- perfect if you want to enjoy the sound of nature while watching the sunsets/sunrise, reading, writing or simply wanting to relax from the day to day busyness of life while sipping a cup of local coffee or delicious tea provided for your stay.

During your stay, there is NO smoking allowed inside or outside of the property and NO vaping allowed inside the property. NO tobacco products including tobacco chew is allowed inside the casita.

Please NO candles, incense or other fragrant items may be burned for safety reasons. NO Pets allowed due to live stock. Please do NOT go into the livestock barn. Guests can walk up to the barn to say hello to the steer “Moocow” and the yak “yakyak”. Please do NOT feed any of the animals.

Guests will have use of the entire casita. The main floor has a pull-out single sleeper couch and dinning table which can also be used as a work space if needed.
The kitchenette which has a portable 2 burner induction stove with griddle, and dinning table for two.

There is a coffee and tea bar from local shops and a Keurig with coffee pods. There is also a microwave, toaster and mini fridge.
A fresh container of alkaline water is on the center island, and sparkling water in the refrigerator.

Enjoy local hiking or a short walk into our local village for breakfast, lunch or dinner and local shopping.

We do not allow outside fires on the property during Spring, Summer and early Fall as we can have high winds- during certain Winter months we allow outdoor fires in the fire pit

Other things to note
We the hosts, live on the property located in the main house which is approximately 100 feet from the casita. We share the main gravel entry driveway and you have a designated gravel driveway space in front of the Casita.

If you have more people than your original reservation is booked for, please notify host prior or upon check-in.

We have a NO pet policy. There are livestock in our barn area and sometimes we get visits from our local outdoor pets.

Please be mindful of our neighbors, and drive slow down our main road as we have live stock roaming, kids and pets throughout the neighborhood.
Speed limit is 10 MILES PER HOUR.

Please drink plenty of water prior to your arrival and during your stay if you are not used to being in high altitude.

Lastly, if you are staying with us for a week or more, we will need to come to clean the property every 5 days or sooner upon request and there is an additional cleaning charge for each additional cleaning. This will be worked out with the host at the time of stay.

Cabin 6 is our most popular unit. With wood log walls inside it's about 900 sq. ft and sleeps up to 5 people. It's got a full size fridge, gas stove, microwave and a full set of dishes, pots and pans, utensils, etc. There's a wood burning stove plus gas and electric heaters. It has a large foyer/entryway for all your outdoor gear. The patio out back offers unobstructed views to the lake, while the log bench out front is a perfect spot to sit and watch the sunset over Wheeler Peak, NM's tallest.

Grill dinner out on one of our conveniently located propane grills (propane provided). Warm up by our signature outdoor fire-pit.

Aspen Springs has direct access to Carson National Forest at the back of our property for hiking and biking without having to even get in the car. Located just 4 miles from the Village center, we are just minutes away from hiking, biking, fishing, golfing, skiing and so much more. Your on-site host is available to assist you whenever you need.

Most of our cabins have approximately 4-6 steps for entry. However, we do have 2 cabins that do not have stairs for entry. If you have mobility issues and prefer a cabin without stairs, please contact us directly to make appropriate arrangements.

Please be aware this is a NO SMOKING property. Smoking of any kind including e-cigarettes, tobacco, vaping, marijuana, cigars, etc is strictly prohibited. Any evidence of smoking on the premises will result in an additional cleaning fee.

Please also be aware we are a no pet facility. We do not allow pets of any kind on the property, including emotional support animals. Anyone with a pet will be asked to leave immediately and will NOT receive a refund. Any evidence of pets after departure will result in an additional cleaning fee. Anyone having a service animal should contact our property directly and disclose your service animal prior to making a reservation.

Medallion Cabin! Nestled in the pines and centrally located between two amazing ski resorts, this lovely, rustic cabin is a perfect get-a-away for the family and with friends. If a beautiful, cozy, rustic cabin with all the amenities of home, and close to all the attractions around New Mexico’s Enchanted Circle is what you have in mind, you will be amazed by “Medallion Cabin.”

Accommodating up to 6 guests with 2 bedrooms, 2 living areas, and 2 full baths, the cabin’s beautiful design, mountain views, and proximity to popular attractions provide the perfect backdrop for creating special mountain-style vacation memories. Sit on the porch and enjoy the visit of wild turkeys and deer as well as the relaxation and the sound of nature.

Cozy, warm and inviting, this cabin is ideal for a honeymoon, romantic getaway, or small family vacation. Guests will enjoy the open layout with room to gather for family fun and meals. The eat-in kitchen is nicely equipped with all the prep ware needed for delicious home cooking. It also features a gorgeous wood table that seats six people comfortably.

With two living areas, both with high-definition smart TVs, you'll have plenty of space to spread out comfortably. One of these areas can be converted to either a bedroom with a sleeper sofa for additional guests or a separate family room for relaxation. Both bathrooms are modern yet styled with rustic finishes providing guests with an authentic mountain aesthetic. You will also have access to complementary high-speed WiFi; free streaming channels; a laundry area with a washer/dryer; and a large front yard to relax and BBQ.

Other things to note
Our software automatically discounts 10% for weekly stays and 20% for monthly stays and our posted prices is our best price, so please do not message us asking for a "special discounted rate."
The locks, the cleaners and our maintenance personnel all work on an automated schedules based on our published check-in time and check out times. In addition, we only have a narrow 5 hour window to prepare the property between the posted checkout time and the posted check-in time. For these reasons early check in or late checkout is no longer free and "may" be able to be purchased at a rate of $20/hour prior to check-in time, or $20/hour after listed checkout time.
The grill is available from mid-April to mid-October.

Welcome to our cozy home! With three bedrooms, including a kids' room featuring a bunk bed and trundle, a comfy queen bedroom, and a spacious king bedroom, we can easily accommodate up to 8 guests plus a baby (we’ve got a pack & play, high chair, and toys ready for your little ones!).

Our goal is to make your stay enjoyable for the whole family. You’ll find two decks perfect for hanging out and soaking up the sun. The garage is packed with games like ping pong, Connect 4, corn hole, and tennis/pickleball gear to keep everyone entertained.

The kitchen is fully stocked for all your cooking needs, and the master bedroom has a workspace with dual monitors, so you can tackle any work tasks when you’re not out exploring or relaxing.

Set on over an acre of land, our place offers a large driveway and plenty of space for privacy and peace. Come make some great family memories with us!
