We enjoyed town visits with our dog (dog parks and dog friendly eateries in both places) but just hanging out at the cabin, on the porch or by the creek, was also wonderful. This beautiful, authentic log cabin is on a working Angus cattle ranch. Immerse yourself in a rustic world of horses, cattle, and real cowboys on this authentic slice of Colorado agriculture. With over 300 acres, seclusion is not a problem, making for great wildlife viewing. The cabin is adjacent to the South Arkansas River, and features a mile of river frontage; fishing is an angler's dream. We also have a nice pond with a cozy swing on the shore.

The property borders BLM land and lends itself to great hiking. Monarch Ski Resort is a mere 20 minutes away. Six miles to the east is the town of Salida, Colorado, where you will find many nice restaurants, shops, galleries, museums, and more. Recently, it was used for a location in a feature film.

Amenities include a washer/dryer, electric range, microwave oven, dishwasher, refrigerator (with ice maker), pellet stove and in-floor radiant heat. WiFi has recently been added.

The interior is decorated in a charming western theme, featuring log furniture, wildlife light-switch covers, and artistic hand-finished wood highlights on the cabinets and furniture. The spacious floor plan includes 2 bedrooms with loft, 1 1/2 bathrooms, and living area with 32" HD TV with DVD player and satellite TV. The cabin sleeps up to 9 comfortably.

Mountain views can be found in all directions. The wrap-around deck is a great way to relax and drink in the scenery. We also offer an outside BBQ grill and an authentic outdoor fire pit. This beautiful, spacious log cabin (lovingly called Grizzly Adams) was the second cabin to be built on our 300-acre working cattle ranch for you and your family's enjoyment. The cabin was completed in June of 2012 and has 1500 sq. ft. of usable floor area. Thanks to its size and charm, it was recently used as a location for a major motion picture.

It is equipped with a fully furnished kitchen (large electric range, dishwasher, and refrigerator with an ice maker), three doored bedrooms with Queen beds, a sleeping loft with a full bed (and a couch that makes into a full), two bathrooms (one upstairs and one down), a living room, and two flat screen TVs. The bedrooms offer comfy beds and large walk-in closets.

Outside, there's a large warp-around deck boasting cozy rocking chairs (perfect for drinking in the beautiful, panoramic mountain views). A gas grill, picnic tables, and fire pit are all provided to help make your stay a memorable one. Rates: $225/night for groups of 2, with a $20 extra-guest fee for every guest over 2.

Salida, 10 miles away, boasts the largest downtown historical district and the largest indoor Sulphur-free hot springs pool in Colorado. and other hot springs nearby. Salida is also famous for its diverse arts community, galleries, breweries and bands featuring all genres of music.

Fall provides spectacular colors as the changing aspens contrast with dark green pines. In the winter there’s snowshoeing and cross-country skiing from the cabin, and Monarch Ski and Snowboarding Resort with classic champagne powder is only 20 minutes away. Premier snowmobiling and cross-country ski trails are close by.

We offer a non-smoking environment inside and outside. Because of our llamas and an allergy-free cabin, no pets are allowed. Adults and well-behaved and supervised children are always welcome.
