We enjoyed town visits with our dog (dog parks and dog friendly eateries in both places) but just hanging out at the cabin, on the porch or by the creek, was also wonderful. This beautiful, authentic log cabin is on a working Angus cattle ranch. Immerse yourself in a rustic world of horses, cattle, and real cowboys on this authentic slice of Colorado agriculture. With over 300 acres, seclusion is not a problem, making for great wildlife viewing. The cabin is adjacent to the South Arkansas River, and features a mile of river frontage; fishing is an angler's dream. We also have a nice pond with a cozy swing on the shore.

The property borders BLM land and lends itself to great hiking. Monarch Ski Resort is a mere 20 minutes away. Six miles to the east is the town of Salida, Colorado, where you will find many nice restaurants, shops, galleries, museums, and more. Recently, it was used for a location in a feature film.

Amenities include a washer/dryer, electric range, microwave oven, dishwasher, refrigerator (with ice maker), pellet stove and in-floor radiant heat. WiFi has recently been added.

The interior is decorated in a charming western theme, featuring log furniture, wildlife light-switch covers, and artistic hand-finished wood highlights on the cabinets and furniture. The spacious floor plan includes 2 bedrooms with loft, 1 1/2 bathrooms, and living area with 32" HD TV with DVD player and satellite TV. The cabin sleeps up to 9 comfortably.

Mountain views can be found in all directions. The wrap-around deck is a great way to relax and drink in the scenery. We also offer an outside BBQ grill and an authentic outdoor fire pit. This beautiful, spacious log cabin (lovingly called Grizzly Adams) was the second cabin to be built on our 300-acre working cattle ranch for you and your family's enjoyment. The cabin was completed in June of 2012 and has 1500 sq. ft. of usable floor area. Thanks to its size and charm, it was recently used as a location for a major motion picture.

It is equipped with a fully furnished kitchen (large electric range, dishwasher, and refrigerator with an ice maker), three doored bedrooms with Queen beds, a sleeping loft with a full bed (and a couch that makes into a full), two bathrooms (one upstairs and one down), a living room, and two flat screen TVs. The bedrooms offer comfy beds and large walk-in closets.

Outside, there's a large warp-around deck boasting cozy rocking chairs (perfect for drinking in the beautiful, panoramic mountain views). - "Quiet, peaceful solitude surrounded by the majestic mountains" - "The best thing is the all pine log interior. Amazing architecture and so Colorado! We were impressed by the spaciousness of the property and the home that has room for 12 in 5 bedrooms. The furnishings are older but very comfortable with plenty of seating. I especially liked that there was only one t.v. in a t.v. room so peple interacted more instead of watching t.v.. The 3 beds we used were very comfortable. The 3 bathrooms were serviceable though not updated. Masterbath was very spacious. It's a perfect family reunion gathering place! It also accomodated our dogs well with a large fenced in area in the yard. The large patio with comfortable furniture and a large table were great and a place to hang out and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The kitchen was nice and well equiped. We appreciated the guidebook provided but did not see the welcome package as noted on the backdoor. There are several notes taped up as reminders of house rules which is always appreciated! There are a few upkeep items like a back door that we could not lock and the large trash barrel outside that is not bear proof. But it was a really nice place to spend a few days."

This one-of-a-kind container home features two private bedrooms with comfortable beds dressed in high-quality linens and pillows to ensure you get a great night’s sleep during your stay.

The primary suite boasts a luxe California King bed, a flat-screen Smart TV, and direct access to the outdoor living area. There’s also an ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower.

The second bedroom features a comfy queen-sized bed with overhead storage for any luggage or other bulky belongings. Though this is a bunk bed, please note that the top bunk does not have a mattress due to local regulations and is instead a storage space.

There is a second full bathroom located off the main living space with a walk-in shower. Both bathrooms are stocked with plush towels and complimentary toiletries, including shampoo and body wash.

This full kitchen has everything you’ll need to whip up tasty home-cooked meals, including modern appliances (our favorite is the retro fridge!), plenty of cookware, and high-quality knives and utensils. Wake up and smell the fresh coffee! We provide a fully-stocked Keurig coffee bar. Enjoy your morning coffee in the fresh air on the large deck as you admire the breathtaking views.

The quaint living room area is located just across the way from the kitchen. When the weather is too cold to enjoy the outdoor living area, you can cozy up in the indoor living room by the gas fire. There’s plenty of seating for the whole group with a sofa and two chairs as well as a flat-screen Smart TV equipped for streaming your favorite movies and shows.

Guest Access:
As guests, you can look forward to enjoying full access to the entire house, including the outdoor area. This is sure to be an unforgettable stay that will be the highlight of your travels in Colorado! Our TV has a Roku so you can access your own streaming accounts, and it also comes with YouTube TV, which gives you access to over 70 live channels. Free parking is available, two cars can fit in the heated two-car garage, and we have an EV charger available for those who need it.

Shipping Container homes are efficient and as such, we can only host 4 guests. Per state restrictions, the top bunk mattress has been removed from the guest bedroom. If you have a fourth person, they are welcome to stay on the couch in the living room.

Please note that we must approve any additional guests over the (4) guests that we can accommodate due to the uniqueness of the property we don't want to overload our septic and well systems.

Please note that during the winter months, you'll hear our generator fire up and run for 15 minutes every Wednesday at 1:15. Just a heads up, in case you're there on a Wednesday, but it's minimal noise.

Welcome to Cognito Ranch! This gorgeously renovated, spacious cabin offers a modern mountain retreat like no other. Perched on 40 acres with private access to the National Forest, enjoy endless views, untouched nature & miles of hiking just outside the door.

About 10minutes from Poncha Springs & 15 from Salida, both with grocery stores, restaurants, bars, & shopping. Easy access to world-class biking, rafting, ATV trails + Princeton Hot Springs, Monarch Ski Resort, & Sand Dunes National Park.
The space
Cognito Ranch is great for couples, solo adventurers, and families looking to disconnect and soak up all the Colorado mountains have to offer.

The cabin boasts 3 sleeping areas - a primary bedroom downstairs with a king bed and mountain views, an airy loft with a king bed and private bathroom, and a flex space with queen-sized pullout couch and private balcony. There's one full bathroom downstairs and a half bath upstairs.

Make yourself at home in the well-appointed kitchen, featuring modern appliances, cooking basics, coffee maker, and breakfast bar with seating, or cook among the pines at the outdoor grill.

The spacious living room is perfect for hanging by the fire, playing board games, or enjoying Cognito's vinyl collection. Take in the surrounding nature on the wraparound deck with nonstop views of the aspens, hummingbirds & wildflowers.

Wifi throughout the cabin allows for guests to easily email, work and make calls. There's a dedicated work desk in the loft area + ability to find privacy in the flex space while gazing out at the mountains. Verizon customers get limited cell service, but wifi calling is most reliable.

Enjoy exploring the cabin's 40 acres and miles of National Forest trails, which can only be accessed from Cognito's private path. You'll also have easy access to all of the area outdoor attractions - hiking Rainbow Trail, taking a dip at O'Haver Lake, mountain biking Monarch Crest Trail, skiing Monarch resort, sandboarding at Great Sand Dunes National Park, as well as several hot springs, tons of 14ers, rafting, mountain biking, fishing, ATVing, horseback riding, climbing and more. Guest access
Cognito Ranch is tucked about a mile down a dirt road, just off of 285. Four wheel drive is recommended for easiest access.

There is ample parking in front of the cabin for easy load-in.

From downtown Denver it is approximately 2.5 hours, and almost a straight shot along 285 so you avoid the I-70 traffic!
Other things to note
While the cabin offers all the modern amenities you need, it is still set deep in nature. There are wild animals to be aware and respectful of. Guests must also respect all fire bans, as wildfires of great concern.

Pets are allowed on the property with host permission only. Non-refundable pet fee of $200/pet.

The space
We live on 25 acres with a cattle dog, eight head of cattle and wildlife (wild turkeys, hawks, crows, deer, elk, rabbits and coyotes) living just outside our door. Our house is 15 minutes to Mt. Princeton Hot Springs, downtown Salida or Buena Vista.

Hike through public BLM land to Arkansas River and Browns Canyon National Monument.

Gorgeous night sky! Our place is amazingly located between the Colorado Trail and Browns Canyon National Monument.

Easy parking/turnaround for large vehicles or trailer.

Guest access
Deck overlooks Mt. Antero, Tabeguache Peak and Mt. Shavano. There's a small guest fridge in your room. Fridge in kitchen is for hosts. Microwave, hotpot and grill (if fire danger is low) are available to guests. Because the kitchen is shared space, we ask guests to keep meal prep quick and simple. I.e, a protein on the grill, bag of salad and something from a local bakery. Tea is in far left cupboard, hot pot on counter. Let us know if you need condiments or spices. We leave dishes and silverware out for guests on the counter.
Front covered porch usually has a breeze and the deck can be a good place to eat or watch stars come out. Please crank patio umbrella down when you’re done using it.

During your stay
Tara or Greg will be around much of the time. Most times we are either upstairs or out messing with the ag ditch.

Other things to note
When you turn into our shared drive, go past the mailboxes and turn onto the second driveway from the LEFT. You will see our house number on the post to the left of our driveway. Follow the road up along the hay meadows.

Important: Our Australian Cattle Dog, Hildegard of Centerville, lives in the house and is a work in progress. Friendly, sweet and very energetic. We are working with her every day but she still gets vocal at times. It's important to us that you are okay with her liveliness. She usually doesn't have run of the house, but in the event that is the case, pleeeeeeze do not let her outside.

Our barn kitties, if you are privileged enough to see them, are Danny and Seldom Seen. Right now we don’t have horses on our land, although the neighbor cows graze here.

We do not have AC; most properties in the area do not. Summer nighttime temps are usually good for open-window sleep. Temps warm up in summer in late afternoon but are usually quite nice by 7:30. Our covered front porch is a nice place to cool off and enjoy the late afternoon breeze. You’ll want to lower the shades in your room to keep it cool during the day.

You may occasionally hear people practicing at the target range down the road, and due to our elevation above the road you will hear traffic. You will probably hear coyotes at night, and in the fall you may be lucky to see/hear turkeys and hear elk bugling!

We thank our guests for being conscious water consumers. Please use only as many towels and blankets as you need.

Take a break and unwind at this peaceful cabin nestled on the bank of the South Arkansas River. The cabin sleeps two and is perfect for a couples or individual retreat with all the comforts of home and a wood-burning stove. My place is about 15 to 20 minutes to restaurants and family-friendly activities in Salida. We are about 30 minutes to Mount Princeton Hot Springs and 30 minutes to Monarch Ski Resort. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and families (with kids). We also have a propane grill for you to use.

The space
Our property backs up to National Forest with miles and miles of trails. We have one bedroom that is private with a queen bed and the loft is about 5 feet high with two twin beds. The loft overlooks the living room downstairs.

Guest access
You will have access to a fire pit and many trails for hiking.

Other things to note
We have a fully stocked kitchen and a propane grill outside. I do allow up to two dogs only (I’m allergic to cats!). I charge $25 per pet per stay upon approval. Please keep your dogs on a leash and do not leave them unattended in the house. Thank you!

We designed the Glass Greenhouse with massive windows, a private wraparound deck with a hanging bed, and views of the national forest at the back of the property. Our goal was to bring the outside in while you enjoy the comforts of a modern cabin.

The space
Location:
The Glass Greenhouse is about 50 yards from national forest boundary in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. It is centrally located about 2.5 hours from downtown Denver, <30 minutes to Monarch Mountain, 1.5 hours to Breckenridge, and about an hour from Great Sand Dunes National Park. To get here, just take 285 almost the entire way from Denver. It's a beautiful drive over high passes and low valleys. You might even see moose at the lake around Kenosha Pass. Traffic is almost always non-existent except for peak times -- thankfully it's not like I-70!

What to do (the short version):
There is a ton to do nearby outdoors--from day national parks to rafting hiking and skiing--that make perfect day trips all year. The Glass Greenhouse is newly renovated inspired by Swedish design with an exposed wood exoskeleton. There is a private trail on the property itself which circles around the aspen, ponderosa pine, rock outcroppings, and what we call sunset boulevard view. We also have a guidebook for everything from short hikes to restaurants, coffee shops, and breweries! We're tucked behind a mountain that blocks the road but right off a well-paved and plowed road.

The Basics:
There are some limited kitchen amenities with new mini fridges, a coffee maker (of course free coffee), etc. Quality towels and linens are freshly-washed right before your stay and will be waiting inside. The bed is a memory foam queen bed. The outdoor space includes a private deck space with a hanging bed. We also allow pets but please be sure to add a pet to your stay when you book it. We keep our pet fees far lower than most as we know people love bringing them but they can be a lot of work to clean.

The Bath House:
Down the path from the glass greenhouse is a large, heated bath house. We have recently done extensive renovations so most amenities are new. It's stocked with shampoo, conditioner, and had wash. We have more than one bathroom for each unit on-site so you should expect to have plenty of space. It's not like a public restroom. We also have a seasonal toilet and sink area which is right next to the greenhouse

Getting Here and Parking:
At almost all times, all cars can easily drive up to the glass greenhouse without issue. We also have it plowed after every snow as well. Please park right next to your unit.

When you enter the gate, drive up and proceed past the Tipi. Then, the glass greenhouse will be the second major building on the left.

Other things to note
Bath House:
We have bathrooms scattered across the property and not in the cabins themselves.

You will see the main bath house as you drive in and there are signs. We have invested a lot of time into renovating the bath house and are continuing to do more. There is also a seasonal restroom closer to the greenhouse.

WIFI:
We have added strong WiFi to the Greenhouse.

Cell Service:
Cell service with Verizon is actually quite strong as there is a tower on a mountain right next to us! AT&T and T-Mobile are strong a few miles from the property down the pass but are generally spotty at best on-site.

Fires:
Due to the dry climate, fires are off-limits all year round and open fires of any kind are prohibited at all times.

We are located at the Four Seasons RV Park. Guest will have access to the park amenities. This includes the Gold Medal waters of the Arkansas river for fishing, rafting, and relaxing! There is a coin-operated laundry room on-site available for guest to use during their stay. Near the laundry area we have a bath/shower house available to all guest as well as a grilling/patio area for any barbecue nights! We also have a trading post where you can purchase all your vacation needs and souvenirs to remember wonderful memories made while you stay with us.

Getting Here and Parking:
The Rock Room is at the very back of our property. You will come in the main gate and drive through the entrance arch. Then, it's fairly straight until you reach it.

There is fairly minimal incline to the Rock Room so 2-wheel drive cars can usually drive up to the cabin without issue.

We also plow our driveway after every snow. Please park right next to your unit at the sign "park here".

Other things to note
Bath House:
The bathrooms for this unit are in the nearby bath buildings. One is about a 1-2 minute walk away which includes sinks and toilets but is closed December to April due to seasonal piping. The other is a 2-3 minute walk or a 1 minute drive down the road.

WIFI:
We have added brand new Wi-Fi for the back of the property it’s generally fast.

Cell Service:
Cell service with Verizon is fairly strong as there is a tower on a mountain right next to us! AT&T and T-Mobile are strong a few miles from the property down the pass but are generally spotty at best on-site.

We do our best to remain pet friendly and keep the cost reasonable (why charge $100 pet fees?!). If you plan to bring a pet please add it to your reservation - the small fee just goes to whoever cleans for the extra time.

This mountain cabin has views of the Collegiate peaks and Sangre de Cristo Mountain ranges from the lower and upper decks of the home. Outdoor Grill and fire pit make this home perfect for families! Skiing, Arkansas river water sports, hiking, snowboarding, sledding, fishing and other outdoor activities are close by. Salida, CO is 7 miles and Buena Vista CO is 12 miles both offering a wide array of dining, shopping and local events to give you as much or as little activity as you'd like!

The space
This cabin sits uniquely between two of Colorado's quaintest "small" towns, Buena Vista & Salida. The cabin sits with breathtaking views so whether you want people and activities, or the solitude of feeling like you are lost in the mountains, you can get it here. Situated on 9 acres, you don't see a neighbor but are minutes from town. If privacy is high on your list...this cabin delivers. With three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a large living room and kitchen downstairs and a large loft upstairs, there is plenty of room for everyone to enjoy meals and family time or curl up in a quiet spot to read or enjoy the view of the mountains.

Colorado nights can be cool (low 50s in the heat of summer). So be prepared if you go out after the sun goes down. Also, there is NO AIR CONDITIONING at the home. Fans are available if you need them.

In season, the garden and greenhouse provide fresh herbs and vegetables for you to enjoy as part of your experience!

Park in the large parking lot below the Mountain Manor. You won't miss it. Additional detail in welcome message, but parking is very easy. We're tucked behind a mountain but right off a well-paved and plowed road. The Mountain Manor is not up steep terrain, so guests have been fine to reach it without 4 wheel drive.

Other things to note
Bath House:
There is a half bath (sink and shower) in the unit and a heated bath house open all the time just about 50 feet away with 5 full bathrooms.

If you are not comfortable walking to the bathroom, the other cabins on-site are even simpler! You will see the bath house as you drive in and there are signs. We have invested a lot of time into renovating the bath house and are continuing to do more.

Of course, there's plenty of original art from all around the region for you to enjoy. The bedroom also has an egress door for emergency and back yard access.

Each home we’re involved with is thoroughly cleaned and aired to support your comfort, safety and health. Linens and towels go through the sanitizer laundry cycle prior to your arrival; we do our best to provide you with a real "home" experience. We follow the current cleaning guidelines laid out by the CDC for Covid-19 and SafeStay (AHLA-USA).

All of our laundry detergents and cleaning products are unscented and from name brand manufacturers. As much as possible, we want to provide you with an allergy free experience in your home for your holiday.

Enjoy beautiful Salida in the last remaining cabin from historic Kimberlin’s Log Cabin Court. This motor court, which was built in 1936 on the edge of the historic district, is a short walk to downtown via First Street or you can follow the delightful river walk that takes you along the banks of the Arkansas River and past several of the rapids braved by kayakers, rafters, anglers and swimmers alike.

"BubbiBel's Cabin" has been completely remodeled. No longer is there a lean-to attached for a mechanic shop and dairy. Instead, she has been transformed to provide comfort and accessibility after a long day of adventures in town, on the water, or out on the trails.

Bubbibel's Cabin has a full kitchen, a large table easily seating six for dining with friends and family, a living room for relaxing, and a spacious master bedroom with a king-size bed that will have you sawing enough logs every night to make another cabin.

After a restful night’s sleep, you can freshen up in the generous, walk-in/roll-in shower. The cabin is ADA-compliant with extra-wide, 36” doors and zero thresholds. This helps even when you're bringing in lots of luggage or after a busy day of shopping the farmer's market downtown!

Additionally, your private outdoor garden is filled with flowers and a shaded patio with mature fruit trees. You enjoy fantastic views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and Tenderfoot Hill (aka “S” Mountain) while you grill or enjoy your favorite beverage. This is living!

This spacious log home has got views of two of Colorado‘s best mountain ranges, the Collegiate Peaks in the Sangre De Cristo mountain range. You’ll wake up in the morning, look out your window, and be able to see the mountains and wildlife.

Skiing, hiking, biking, great sunsets, and many other outdoor activities await!

The space
The Reveille House offers space for family and friends as well as quiet areas to read, sit, and enjoy the views. Whether you’re on the deck with a great cup of coffee or inside one of two living areas, you can count on over 270 days of sunshine every year. Sun pours in the windows during the winter months when the sun is lower in the sky, making the home warm in the winter and cool in the summer! It’s lovely to enjoy sitting in the sun inside when it’s cold outside!
There are two fire pits, one on the deck to enjoy while grilling out, and one in the back yard. Both have views of the mountains and the sunset will be a cozy spot to gather.

The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes for 12, an espresso coffee machine, regular coffee maker, Nespresso frothed cream, and an instant boiling water pitcher for hot tea. A full set of quality cookware and utensils means you’ll have everything you need for a 5 star meal at home! A propane grill is available as well out on the deck on the main level living and kitchen.

Upstairs living area loft has its own coffee bar perfect for early risers looking for a quiet place to start the day.

The accommodation consists of two rooms with queen-sized beds and adjoining bathrooms, as well as an open loft with a full-size bed. The living areas and open kitchen are the gathering places for meals, games, and lots of great conversations! 3 acres for plenty of privacy, large living areas for gathering, quiet space for solitude, mean your vacation will be filled with fond memories of the mountains that last a lifetime!

Many homes in Chaffee County do not have air conditioning, we cool with the Mountain air. The guide book in the home gives direction on cooling. Our days are typically cool at 7500 feet above sea level but on hot days you’ll want to follow directions in the book!

Guest access
This 2500 square-foot home with three levels is accessible to those who cannot do stairs. A driveway up the back leads to a ramp so you can enter the main floor without steps. Loading and unloading are easy! If you decide to unload your things from the garage, you’ll be able to avoid any inclement weather.

There’s also a bedroom and adjoining bathroom on the main floor to accommodate those with mobility challenges.

The deck is east /south facing on the main level and has a propane gas fire pit to keep you warm on those cool nights! The Reveille House comes complete with a full laundry room, mud room for your skis, fully loaded kitchen, plenty of seating for meal time, and a cozy living room all on the main floor. The home is situated on 3 acres, giving you privacy as well.

Other things to note
Check out the guide Book for all kinds of things to do in Salida and Buena Vista! There are great restaurants, outdoor spaces, and activities available in both towns whether you’re interested in shopping, the river, water activities, or just enjoying the scenery.

The Reveille House is also located 2 miles from Stonebridge if fly fishing is on your list. There’s public access there, and you can wade up stream for miles. There are many many other streams to fish all within 10 miles of this home.

The Colorado Trail has many access points in the county. Check www.14ers.com for trails up some of the most spectacular mountains in Colorado!

If you’d rather ride than hike, check out local vendors who supply four-wheel drive jeeps and razors that can handle mountain trials. You can get to high Mountain Lakes like Pomeroy and others on four wheelers! Our idea of a FUN RUN!

Lastly, there are three outdoor cameras and a camera in the garage. The garage at this home is accessible to guess, but we use it for storage, so please no additional items in the garage. Keeping the garage accessible also allows egress in case of emergency.
