There are two bedrooms with superior pillow top mattresses and plenty of space in each bedroom. There is a fully equipped kitchen with a full refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, gas stove & oven. Also, the private patio has a 5 burner grill with a table that seats 6 with all utensils supplied. Propane supplied.
There is Cable TV, with a flat screen TV. A DVD Blu Ray player and WIFI is available. Electric Fireplace in the TV Stand. Coin operated laundry on premises. Plenty of parking. All roads to access the SUITE are paved.

Overall, the place was a solid stay for the one night we needed it. "

- "The property was as advertised and Nadine was great for communication. We booked for 5 weeks and my husband (who was alone the last 3 weeks) got lonesome and decided to leave a week early. Unfortunately, we could not receive any kind of refund because we had signed a contract. Close to downtown Joshua tree and only about ten minutes away from the National Park entrance. Nadine is extremely responsive and she is a very gracious host. (She left us two bottles of wine! Stays begin after 4 pm and depart by 11 am. Easy place for people who are allergic as we do not allow animals, dander or any allergens if at all possible. Beautiful bathroom with shower, spacious. Full kitchen with full electric stove and four burners, small undercounter frig, new queen bed, leather couch, 40 inch TV screen for Netflix and similar; Pandora for music; Wi-Fi, etc; outside tables and chairs to eat or relax; can walk to Village in 10-15 minutes, one mile, lots to do and see; again only 5 miles from entrance to the famous Joshua Tree National Park!

- "Great experience. We used it mainly for sleeping, breakfast and returned at dinner after a day in the park but was great for our purposes. It is one side of a duplex. Beds were comfortable. Heating worked. WiFI worked well. Streaming TV. Kitchen had everything we needed to make our meals. Garage to park in. Was clean and less than 10 minutes to the entrance of the park and walk to things in town. Host was very responsive. Would definitely stay there again."

- "This house was very nice and the view was gorgeous! I went back and forth at first about booking because of the detached bedroom, but it really wasn’t a big deal at all. It’s right outside the kitchen door, both doors lock, and it has a/c. The only reason I gave four stars for accuracy is because there was no “cowboy pool” on the property. Not a huge deal though. We had a good laugh when we realized there was no tv, but to be fair, it’s not listed on the amenities. We didn’t need one either as we were all so tired from hiking each day at Joshua Tree. Speaking of Joshua Tree, the entrance (one of them) is very close to the house. We went twice on Saturday and twice on Sunday, taking breaks between trails. Don’t miss out on going there after dark to stargaze (they never close!). We captured a beautiful photo of the Big Dipper! There are so many trails to choose from with several levels of intensity. We had the windows open the whole weekend and the cross breeze was so nice. They had every basic necessity (note: there is no washer/dryer or dishwasher if that matters to you). The beds were comfortable. There are grocery stores and restaurants nearby. We went to the Bar and Saloon and a Mexican restaurant. Both were good. All in all it was a great stay at a great house. The hosts were quick to respond. We would book again for sure. "

Beautiful, comfortable, generous, self-contained studio adjacent to my mid-century home, Casa ShangriLa. Experience unbelievable infinity views of the desert and mountains, perfect for stargazing and relaxing from your patio or outdoor grill and lounge area. Experience peace, comfort, wildlife, silence, space and unforgettable starlight. The property offers the perfect scenic desert getaway only 10-11 minutes from the amenities of Joshua Tree village and 15 minute from park entrance.

The space
The property sits on 5 acres of land where you can experience infinity views of the desert and the mountains. At night you can gaze up at a million twinkling stars that feel about an arms-length away from your own outdoor relaxation space. Stargaze from lounge area, and enjoy the gas grill. This is a magical property. It offers the perfect escape from the big city and the kind of serenity that can only be found in the desert. There is no light pollution, so this is the perfect place to watch Meteor Showers or any celestial event! Experience peace, quiet, wildlife and endless star-scape in comfort and style. Casa Shangri La's studio has its own private entrance, patio and altogether 3 separate outdoor spaces for your use only on the secure, fenced property. It’s thoughtfully decorated in keeping with the Mid-Century architecture. There is original art on every wall, and the Studio features an extremely comfortable California king-size bed (an extra bed can easily be added, if required). Expect high quality mattress with pillow top, air dried sheets, blankets and towels. You’ll find a laptop friendly writing desk, sofa, dining table as well as refrigerator, hotplate, toaster oven, coffee-maker, cooking utensils, tableware, pots, pans and everything you'll need to make tasty meals. There’s also a fiendishly cool bathroom with bath, shower and generous amenities. The studio has air-conditioning plus a heater for those chillier desert nights, and a 2 burner Grill with side burner (I provide gas). You will witness wild animals in their native habitat. The cottontail rabbits, cactus wrens, lizards, desert tortoises, jackrabbits, coyotes, owls and roadrunners that make the desert their home are here, making a visit to Casa ShangriLa all the more special. Please note there are 2 units on the property with their own private entrances and no access between them. Nothing is shared

Guest access
You have access to the studio with all it's amenities (read the listing) , and all of of the 3 outdoor spaces for guests only including a grill and a chill out area with infinity desert views and a 2 burner Gas BBQ with 1 side burner is for your use. I provide gas. There is a main house on the other side of the property adjacent to the studio with its own outdoor spaces, grill and amenities. This is rented separately. The layout of the property allows the studio full privacy

Please note there is no TV.
For photo shoots / movies and anything else similar contact me first for rate card and permission, or you will be turned away. No exceptions. NOTE: IMPORTANT! There is no kitchen sink in kitchenette, but there is hot and cold water in the studio, and tubs to wash up in, in addition to sponges, drying mat, dish soap etc. The studio has air conditioning. The property is fenced for security. Parking on the property. Washing machine is for people who stay 4 nights or more. Check in is at 3 or by appointment only. I recommend arriving before sunset. An extra queen size comfortable blow up bed can be added to accommodate an additional person. We care about the environment. There is a triple osmosis filter, so you can safely drink the tap water, and the property is solar powered. I provide multi use water bottles and glass bottles with fresh water in the fridge to minimise single use plastic waste. I provide high quality amenities like natural shampoo and conditioner in refill bottles for the same reason. Please recycle! The main house next door is rented separately, yet You have complete privacy and do not share amenities or outdoor space with anyone else

A cozy, private furnished studio apt. with full kitchen, large bath, very large fenced private back yard. The property is on 2&1/2 acres, with no one behind you, in your view and the whole backyard is all privately yours. A secluded area set up with firepit (wood provided ) A great place to sit under the stars. The last mile and 1/2 before apt. is a well traveled dirt road, very hard so any car will be able to drive on it. Dogs are also welcomed.

The space
Very open area, with panoramic views. The quiet and peace of the desert can totally be felt here , views in all directions, free to take walks, as land is very open. There are storage trailers on the south side of the property, but are only storage, you have complete privacy. Can watch sunrise, sunset, desert birds, etc. Nice spot, with no city lights, to view all the night stars, and sit by the firepit, roast marsh mellows and enjoy yourselves. Also there is a full kitchen with all cooking utensils, dishes, kettles etc. furnished for you. A large bath with a dressing area.

Guest access
You must enter the front, unlocked gate, with entrance signs, ( stuff by the gate and on the gate, including a big hanging star, and than drive past the side of the house and than make a right to be behind the house. Your door, (with the key in it) is just to the right of the propane tank, just go in and make yourselves at home. The backyard is all yours privately. After I give you a bit of time to settle in ,I will come out to greet you and show you around.

Other things to note
The desert's peace, sunrises & sunsets, very unique plant life, night skies full of stars, are an experience hard to find anywhere else. There is a firepit, (wood supplied) for your use also. Dog's allowed and children most welcome. It is about 7 miles to the village- main street-; which is also where the road is that leads to the Joshua Tree National Park, It is a great place for star viewing , it is a very quiet, peaceful place.

OUTDOORS

You simply won’t believe the outdoor space. Gorgeously landscaped with plenty of private corners for alone time during the day and an outdoor dining table big enough for 4 guests to come together at night. Where will you spend your day? Lounging around with a good book on the rooftop deck, catching some desert rays in the pool, or sitting by the outdoor fire-pit roasting some s'mores. A fire-pit, outdoor sink and 4 outdoor showers mean you’ll almost never have to go inside! Solar lights keep the fun outside even after the sunsets so you can cozy up on the rooftop loungers and stargazing all night.

FAMILY & PETS

We are family and dog friendly! Children 2 years old and above must be included as part of the total guest count. Dogs are accepted on a case by case basis and must be under 25 lbs. Please send us the breed and age for consideration. We will request a $75 cleaning & companion fee per pet. Please see our House Rules for more information.

EXTRA GUESTS

Any day guests must be approved prior to arrival. Day guests must leave by 10pm. Children are considered as part of the total guest count.

PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL OF OUR NEIGHBORS! Follow our Good Neighbor Policy of no outside noise after 10pm and before 8am. Guests must refrain from any outdoor music, noise or other disruptions that may cause a disturbance to the community during quiet hours. Failure to respect quiet hours after an initial warning may result in cancellation of your reservation without refund.

PROTECTION

Our bookings are protected by SUPERHOG, our trust and safety partner, so we don't need to charge our guests a security deposit. Because of this we need our guests to verify themselves after the booking is confirmed, which only takes less than a minute and is required prior to arrival. You will be contacted directly by SUPERHOG via text with a url link to start your verification.

RESPECT

There are strict county ordinances regarding excessive noise and light pollution after 10pm. Please respect our neighbors, and refrain from loud noises and outdoor music by 10pm. Home is equipped with a decibel monitoring sensor located inside and outside of the home to ensure that neighborhood noise levels are respected. Sink into the sounds of desert solitude, quiet nights and quiet stars...

CHERISH

Some of the things visitors to the high desert cherish the most are clean air, mesmerizing night skies and the abundance of wildlife and fauna. Cigarette butts, trash and food left on the ground can hurt our precious ecosystem. 150 acres burned down the road because of one cigarette.

CLEANING

Health & safety is our number one priority. Our in-house cleaning team is trained on CDC and WHO protocols. We take extra measures to ensure the home is sanitized and safe before every arrival. For this reason we aren’t able to offer early check-ins or late check-outs. Thank you for understanding!

If you’re interested in doing a photoshoot or shooting a video, please let us know what it is for. If approved, we have an additional fee for licensing and usage.

WILDLIFE

You surely could encounter wildlife on your stay including families of Quail, rare Albino lizards, insects, snakes, squirrels and the endangered kangaroo mice.

NO SMOKING

No smoking or burning candles indoors on the rooftop deck. This is a non-smoking home. Any and all smoking should be kept outdoors at least 15 feet away from any exterior doors. There will be a $250 charge for anyone not honoring this guideline.

This property consists of 4 unique stays and a total of 12 units across 12 acres. The grounds have been meticulously manicured and the property has a resort vibe. The Castle House Estate is available for full property buyouts and has a 3500 square foot meeting space that can be used as a dining hall, nightclub and a roller rink. There is an additional 2000 square feet of white cantilevered concrete patio on all four sides of the structure. The sunset patio has a 250 person capacity for private dinners with views of the National Park. For inquires please give us a shout!
