The Roxburgh Street apartment is a recently refurbished spacious second floor apartment in the heart of the historic market town of Kelso in the Scottish Borders. It is just a few steps off the cobbled market square, offering comfortable spacious (88 sq meters) 2 bedroom accommodation for up to 4 guests, with your own private entrance and staircase and equipped with all you need for a comfortable stay, including a wood burning stove for cosy winter evenings.
The apartment has retained many of its original 1870 period features, including sash windows and shutters. It benefits from two bedrooms, one with a King sizes bed and the other 2 single beds, with luxury Egyptian cotton bedding. There are USB and Micro charging points in both rooms. The living room has two sofas and a Smart TV, with streaming apps and screen sharing. The bathroom has a separate shower and bath. Handwash, body wash, shampoo and conditioner is provided along with towels. The kitchen / diner has a dining table for 4 and is fully equipped with all cutlery, pans, crockery and glasses as well as an electric hob and oven, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment, dual washer/tumble dryer. The apartment has full gas central heating and instant hot water. There is free Fibre Broadband Wi-Fi for streaming. The apartment has its own private entrance and stairs. Set on a deep meander of the River Tweed, where it collides with the River Teviot, the bustling market town of Kelso is an architectural delight. Guest access
There is a security code to open the electric gates at street level. Proceed to the front door and up to the 2nd floor for Flat 4. There is a door key for flat 4 in a secure lock box on the door. Both of these codes will be available upon confirmation of booking.
Other things to note
Free on-street parking is available directly outside the apartment, however no spot is reserved. Alternatively you can take your car to The Knowes car park or The Square car park, both of which are a 2 minute walk to the apartment.

Kelso is an ideal central location for exploring both the countryside of the Scottish Borders and the Northumberland National Park and coast.

The space
The apartment is in the heart of the historic market town of Kelso and spacious for 4 guests. It has its own secure entrance and staircase from a path off Roxburgh Street. There is a good sized living room, with comfortable seating and a wood burning stove. There is a fully equipped kitchen with dining area. There is a bathroom with bath and separate shower. Toiletries and towels are provided. There are two bedrooms, one with a king sized bed and the other with two singles and a small desk / dressing table. The apartment is fully centrally heated and has fibre Wifi. The property has retained many period features including wooden shutters.
There is plenty of free parking close to the apartment.

Please note the apartment is on the second floor accessible by stairs. Unfortunately it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

The property is up two flight of stairs so it may not be suitable for people with mobility difficulties. If your not sure do get in touch for advice.
The apartment is in the town center so there might be some nightlife noise as might be expected in any small community. Roxburgh Street is cobbled so this can be a bit noisier than a tarmac surface. However, we have not had any feedback from guests to indicate this is a problem.

Apothecary House is a spacious, historic second-story apartment overlooking The Square in the charming Scottish Borders town of Kelso. Built in 1795, the flat features old world charm and modern amenities: two comfortable bedrooms, a well-equipped kitchen and dining room, modern shower room, and massive lounge with luxe leather sofas and an incredible view of the town square and clocktower. Perfect for a family or couples, the beauty of the Borders is at the doorstep of Apothecary House.
The space
The door to access the apartment door 19/4 Square' is between the Boots pharmacy and a lovely wee bookshop, 20 Storey. Apothecary House is located up two flights of stairs, on the second floor, with a green door and brass nameplate. Our apartment was built in 1795, and several locals report that number 19 was indeed the home of the town’s Apothecary. We like to look at the large silver pestle & mortar attached to the front of the building and dream about days of old here. You’ll find some of the Apothecary’s tools of the trade around the place too. We’ve maintained as many original features as possible as we love the old doors and original wooden window shutters.
The apartment has a spacious hall leading to all accommodations, which includes a massive lounge with high ceilings and two large bay windows with original working wooden shutters, looking straight on to the Square. There are two bedrooms - one is a double, the other can be configured as either a twin singles or a double, both with storage for clothes (a large wardrobe and dresser respectively), each very quiet at night, especially if you close and lock the wooden shutters, as we always do.
There is a large and well-appointed dining room that easily seats six next to the fully-equipped kitchen with chef's knives and a rack of stainless steel pots and pans. The basics are also provided, including spices and seasonings and coffee with a cafetière. At the end of the hallways is a brand new, large, bright shower room with walk-in rainfall shower, with linens, a heated towel rack, and high-quality basic amenities stocked. The apartment is light-filled throughout, with a brilliant view.
We offer guides and literature in the flat on the hikes, distilleries, castles, and other adventures available nearby. There are plenty of modern conveniences, including wireless Internet but the accommodation also offers the opportunity to travel back in time. Relax on the leather sofa under a tartan blanket, dust off a book of Sir Walter Scott's, sip a dram of whisky, and make Apothecary House your home for the holiday. Slainté!
