Redwood Cottage is a stunning Grade I listed cottage that has been sensitively and stylishly renovated in a way that preserves its character, yet encapsulates a simple and modern kind of elegance.

The cottage is located on the grounds of a grand, historic hall which is the family home of the owners. With nineteen acres of gorgeous gardens and estate parkland to explore, including walking trails that lead to a 1,000-year-old chestnut tree and a lake, it's an oasis of tranquillity. Meanwhile, the thriving market town of Nantwich is within easy reach; very handy for stocking up on groceries or dining out.The space
Redwood Cottage is reached along a tree-lined drive that also leads to the spectacular, historic hall where the family that owns the estate resides.
Once you enter the cottage through the main door, you will find a cosy lounge with a traditional feel, exposed wooden beams overhead, a sofa, armchairs, a TV and a wood-burning stove to add an extra shot of heat of winter evenings. From the lounge, there are two steps up to the classically styled kitchen and the adjacent dining area.
The cottage sleeps 6 adults in three double bedrooms, each with a king-size bed. One of the bedrooms is on the ground floor and comes with countryside views and a small en-suite shower room.
The other two double bedrooms are upstairs. One of which is the master bedroom and features a decorative fireplace and a lovely side room which is spacious enough to use as a bedroom for one or two children (a cot and/or a child's bed can be provided on request). Also on this floor is the large family bathroom which has a freestanding bath.
Outside there is plenty of green space and woodland where you can enjoy a walk and the fresh air with your family and friends.

About the property

Lakeside Cottage is a charming and traditional character cottage set on the grounds of Grade I listed Jacobean mansion which is the residence of the family that owns it. The cottage exudes period glamour through details including exposed wooden ceiling beams and a 400-year-old sandstone fireplace complete with wood burner, whilst luxuries include a sumptuous slipper bath. As the name suggests, there are views of the lake just outside, whilst the estate grounds offer nineteen acres of gorgeous gardens and parkland to explore, including a walking trail that leads to a 1,000-year-old chestnut tree.

The space
Lakeside Cottage is reached along a tree-lined drive that also leads to the spectacular, historic hall which is lived in by the family that owns it. Open the front door and take two steps down into the lounge and dining area. While the decor is simple and fresh, there is a traditional charm created by the period exposed ceiling beams, the original lead window panes and a beautiful 400-year-old sandstone fireplace where there's a cosy wood-burner installed. For your entertainment needs, there's a 43" HDTV with Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, standard cable/satellite. When it's time to dine, there's a table and chairs set up to seat four.
Meanwhile, the well-appointed kitchen is equipped with everything you will need to self-cater including an oven, microwave and dishwasher while the washing machine and tumble dryer come in handy after muddy walks. The kitchen also boasts lovely views out across the lake.

Climb up the original spiral staircase and you'll notice the exposed frame and a delightful feature window that add to the enchanting character of the cottage, as do the uneven floors of this historic building. The two bedrooms can be found up here and both feature a king-size bed, whilst the stylish, modern bathroom boasts a free-standing slipper bath and a large rainfall shower.

Outside of the cottage, there's a patio area at the foot of the neighbouring clock tower where there's a bistro set up for you to enjoy the sunshine and a bite to eat or relax with a glass of wine on a summer's evening.

There is a lockbox with a key for a self-check-in,There is a member of the estate team on hand who can help during working hours if you have any queries.

Your parking spaces are located behind your cottage. You will be able to explore the grounds freely, however, the South Garden is for private use by the family.

You will also be able to use the tennis court, but the time must be pre-booked with the owners. Please note that there is another holiday cottage within the grounds.

The space
Walnut Cottage is a lovingly converted self contained completely private one bedroom annexe attached to our home (Cherry Tree House)

The cottage is named after the well established huge walnut tree adjacent to it 🌳 😊

Our house is named after the beautiful cherry tree in the front garden which can be seen through the windows of Walnut Cottage

The cherry tree is particularly beautiful during the spring blossom……..and later in the year please help yourself to free 🍏 from the apple tree!

The annexe consists of a secure courtyard private entrance, leading into a fully glazed breakfast room / conservatory with stunning views of the Cheshire hills.
Perfect for enjoying breakfast or simply relaxing in the evening while watching spectacular sunsets.

Double doors from the breakfast room lead into the fitted kitchen and open plan lounge with cosy seating, furniture and TV.

Double bedroom with built in wardrobe and well appointed en suite shower room.

To the rear part of the annexe off from the kitchen is a hallway where guests can store shoes, coats, luggage etc

Guest access
Next to the private courtyard entrance is a gravel garden area containing our famous walnut tree, this area can be used by guests during evening and weekends if desired.

During weekdays between the hours of 8am and 6pm the area is used by our Doggy Daycare business so is unavailable to guests.

Other things to note
An important note for potential guests to be aware of please, is that we operate a Doggy Daycare from our house / garden / external garage.

This business is Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm.

Our wonderful daycare pooches are dropped off by their owners between 7.45am and 9am, then collected between 3.30pm and 6pm.

We have a maximum of 9 dogs at any one time and they are generally well behaved as we aim to keep them occupied throughout the day with walks and enrichment games in the garden.

However they can get a little excited and exuberant during pick up / drop off times and occasionally during their play times in the garden (usually mid morning and mid afternoon)

This also means that during our weekday business hours, the blinds in the conservatory section of Walnut Cottage must remain closed please as the dogs play around the area outside, and also pass by the conservatory windows on their way to and from our garden from their play den (detached garage)


We do occasionally have dogs boarding over the weekend but this is generally only a single dog or a maximum of two, so very little noise during these times.

After initially taking bookings for weekends only, we have decided to open the Airbnb calendar for our Annexe during the week - however we must respectfully insist that weekday bookings can only be accepted on the understanding that this section of our listing details has been read and acknowledged.

The space
The Walled Garden Apartment (sleeps 2), no prizes for guessing why it is named as such. This south facing gem of a spot used to be where vegetables were grown for the large Georgian manor next door, now No. 9 Mill St Bar and Restaurant. It was so beautiful we wanted to keep that botanical, indoor/outdoor vibe so now you can throw open the huge French doors and enjoy that morning coffee in full sun with the waft of scented geraniums while you wait for the copper bath in The Potting shed to fill.

The Walled Garden is a spacious, chic ground floor apartment offering a lovely garden and outside undercover dining area.

Step inside and you will be welcomed by the King size bedroom with White Company bed linen, towels and bathrobes are provided. All the toiletries are provided and we use The Bath House toiletries which are all natural products.
