- "The flat is in a great location in the centre of Olhão. Although the front door is on Avenida da República, the flat is in the rear block, so very quite. Also it's lovely to see the sunset as the living room faces west. The beds were very comfortable, though my sister had problems with the sheet rucking up as it was too small for her bed. It would also be really useful to provide dishwasher tablets, and some clothes washing detergent, as neither of these machines are useful without them. Other than that, the flat is lovely - very spacious, nicely furnished and comfortable. You can park outside free from 7pm to 9am, (pay at meter/on app other hours), or for free anytime in the car park next to the fishing harbour, Av.16 de Junho. We had a great time in Olhão and would recommend taking a tour on a traditional boat to see the barrier islands of the Ria Formosa and find out more about the fishing/sea farming /life. Our guide/captain Flávio was great! Also recommend Salinas do Grelha nr Olhão, the Algarve Costume Museum in São Brás (so much more than costume - cork production, great view etc), the ICNF (Ria Formosa nature reserve with Tidemill), the markets, and artist ZEA's gallery - beautiful! Travel: Faro Airport is 15 min by road. Olhao rail station an easy 15 min walk, with services to Faro, Fuzeta, Lisbon, Spanish border, etc. As all amenities are within walking distance a car is not necessary, unless you want to visit interesting places on the Algarve or go golfing.

Distances: Central Faro 10km - historic old town and great modern shopping centre. 12km to Faro beaches. Loule 25 min drive - pretty inland town. Almancil 25 min drive. 18 km to Tavira. 30 km from Vilamoura. 40 km from Albufeira and 60km from Spanish border. The N125 is the old coast road and passes through several coastal towns, including Olhao. The A22 is the newer road a few miles North - quicker for longer east-west journeys.

The islands of the Ria Formosa Park are well worth a visit - frequent ferries and water taxis from Olhao jetty (a 10 min walk from the apartment) give you access to miles of golden beaches - there are also small shops and eateries on most of the islands.

Additional information: The apartment is managed and serviced by a friendly British husband and wife team, who can be contacted should any problems arise with the rental. They can also provide babysitting services and airport transfers, by prior arrangement.
Within the Village Marina development lies the 5 star Real Marina Hotel and Spa. The apartment is located in a new condominium where there are restaurants and bars. Its location is excellent, since in front of the condominium, it is possible to take the boat to the Deserta Island as well as to hire boat trips by Ria Formosa. A seven minute walk you can take the boat to the islands of Armona, Culatra and Lighthouse. Faro Airport is just a 10-minute drive away. The center of this fishing town is just a five-minute walk away, as is the traditional market (vegetables / fruit and fish).

Both terraces are furnished and offer an open view of the beautiful grounds and the countryside. This is to have a place to let your souls dangle. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms one en-suite, a comfortable kitchen and a spacious living and dining area on about 80 m2. The terraces are accessible via large floor-standing patio doors and create a spacious living area together with the interior space. Fly screens, even in front of the large patio doors, make sure that the little pests stay outside and not spoil the holiday fun. The traditional lime and trowel plaster is painted with an organic clay colour. St. Catarina terracotta tiles of different formats make the flooring. The tiles are manufactured nearby (about 20 km away) in a traditional way. The floor is sealed with organic oil.
Outdoor life - on the spacious terraces

Many lamps and bulbs with almost as many switches make it inside and outside possible to produce many different lighting options.
On the other hand nobody has to think about exterior lighting for the entrance, courtyard and the Eira. These areas are connected by means of timers, so there is always sufficient outdoor lighting for early risers or also for those who come back home late.

The French bed 160 * 200 cm with a slatted frame is adjustable in hardness and comfort mattress supports a relaxing, peaceful sleep. Wake up refreshed and rested.

Next to the bed there are two bedside tables made of granite surface for small utensils and one bedside lamp on each. A spacious corner wardrobe offers plenty of wardrobe space. A floor-standing window completes the furnishing.
Bedroom II
Sleep separately in two single beds. Each bed is 100 * 200 cm large, so you can turn around at times without the risk of falling down. Holiday with friends? Then the beds can be pushed together in no time. Two bedside tables with small drawers. A built-in wardrobe 200 * 230 cm completes the features. Orientation: Northwest.
Bathrooms
Traditional plaster style impregnated with organic oil gives the walls an antique look. The wash basins are made of very special sandstone. The washbasins are made of very special sandstone. Here many fossil inclusions can be found. Who will find more comfort? Wheelchair accessible showers. Oh by the way, Casa Ria has a town water supply and thus a tested water quality and almost lime-free water.
Dining,
Eat or play together. The dining table measures 150 * 90 cm. For 4 persons and also for more table set-up there is no demand for space. If it is still not sufficient, the table can be pulled out in no time. Now the table can be covered up to the brim or it can accommodate up to 6 persons comfortably. Ample crockery is available. Comfortable and stable chairs with cushions for cosy get-togethers.
When the weather is once again too nice to sit inside, then jump out onto the terrace. The patio doors allow plenty of light into the apartment. A pergola protects against too much sun with awning. Nothing is far away and one always has an eye on everything. Again, there is a nice table with plenty of space. Comfortable, adjustable chairs. Now admire the view across the large plot and in to the nature.
For all sophisticated meal times, everything should be available. Candle holders, table runners, decanters, red and white wine glasses. Beer and water glasses and something for the traditional brandy.
Kitchen
Cooking together. It becomes very easy here. Sufficient space to conjure up your own favourite dishes or treats. Around the apartment you will find significant herbs for Mediterranean cuisine. Rosemary, chilli, spicy wild thyme, oregano, lemon balm, peppermint and lemongrass for a delicious tea or a refreshing cold drink.
The granite countertop is durable and resilient and offers plenty of space so that the preparation becomes easier. Don’t want to cook? Then quick little things can be made in the oven or microwave. The restaurants in the area are happy to present you their culinary specialties of Algarve.
To make cooking even more fun-filled we have the kitchen equipped with an induction hob. Oven, dishwasher, extractor hood, microwave, + + +, simply everything that comes with a household.
Comfort can begin with packing the suitcase. The apartments are furnished large and comfortable, so that your suitcases can stay lighter. Hair dryer, travel iron box, bath towels, beach mats which can safely stay at home. Some German and English books are on the shelf and should satisfy one or the other passionate readers.
All facilities have been caringly selected with the intention of creating a warm, homely atmosphere.
Activities around: Casa Ria
The choice of holiday activities is always a personal decision. Casual barefoot stroll on a deserted beach, indulging in historical European or Moorish culture. Sporty.
Experiencing one of the many festivals and free music events. Horse markets with thoroughbred horses and beautiful carriages and trailer combinations. Fairs, markets and more celebrations and processions. Plunging in to the carnival. And the friendliness and serenity of Algarvians everywhere. Time for a wine, fado, snacks simply dozing a little bit in the shade of the midday sun.
In the Ria Formosa park there is plenty of information about this unique piece of nature. The rare Portuguese water dogs show at special trials what they are capable of. By the way, we are with our Chily Portuguese champion in this discipline.

- "My wife and I have just returned from a wonderful week's stay in the west apartment at Casa Ria and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to those looking for a restful holiday in wonderful surroundings. The apartment is of the highest quality and has all the equipment one would need. My wife is disabled and this was a major factor in us choosing Casa Ria. Of particular importance was the absence of steps (except for the roof terrace) and the apartment having a walk-in shower (two in fact). The double bed in the main bedroom was extremely comfortable - something one cannot always say from previous holidays in Europe. The apartment is beautifully furnished throughout and has the benefit of electronically controlled shutters for added security. Whilst located in a rural area Casa Ria is not difficult to find and the access roads are generally very good. The Rio Formosa (East) nature reserve is only a short drive from Casa Ria and is signposted from the main N125 Road; highly recommended and well worth the small entry fee."

Casa Formosa is located less than 10 minutes’ drive from the vivid fishermen town of “Olhão”, on a contemplative hillside, in a calm valley. We designated it so, because from the major spots of our landed property, you got an amazing view to the Ria Formosa. Evergreen hills are flanking the dale, here it is perfect to keep an eye on the turning of the tide. Ferries oscillates between mainland and up streamed Isles of “Armona” and “Culatra”. Countless sailing boats anchors during summertime, by day they twinkle snow-white and by night they glitter as stars, which felt into the ocean…
Casa Formosa is right in the middle of the 7000 square meter plot and its old tree population. Out of 3 cardinal points the land declines to the valley, that is why the apartment has its own private garden of 1500 square meters dimension were also a boules court of 14x4 meters founds place. In the old residential area of the elongate estate there are the very busy owners living. They help with words and deeds, will be a good neighbour to you, and at the same time they will absolutely respect your privacy. They realized plenty of their ideas at Casa Formosa and took their fist-hand professional experience in mediating holiday accommodations since years, in advantage for this project. Since age of times the conception has been planned and in 2013 finalized. The result became a very comfortable holiday house with very well considered details and snugly atmosphere….
Entering through the big glass door, the cosy materials of tiles, doors and furniture offer a nice and warm welcome. Passing the round arch, you come to the spacious living room, which is divided into kitchen and sitting room. In between there is a bar, where you can have a relaxed chat. All three windows from the lounge are going to South-west and offer you a beautifully view into the garden to the ocean. Folding shutters and an excellent isolation, will spend lovely coolness during summertime, and during the rest of the year, the room can be flooded with sun and bright light, similarly. Fly screens keep away undesirable visitors. Wood burner in cast iron, is the heart of the living room, it is fixed on a semi-circle brick layer platform. A dining area with dining table, sofa suite and little corner with TV completes the sitting room. The “blue kitchen” is adjoining, best equipped, nothing to miss, while a look out of the window over the Ria Formosa will sweeten your holiday.
2 bedrooms going towards North, according to requirements, you can put the beds as a double or single one . Each bedroom has a wardrobe, a ceiling fan and air condition (the consumption will be charged extra). In between the bedrooms is the bathroom located, very tastefully with Portuguese tiles and a bathtub and bidet. In case you are more than 4 people, the studio next to, can also be rented in addition (see Studio Casa Formosa). The studio is through 2 doors cutting acoustic.
Open access to the guest garden is exclusive for apartment visitors. Common use is just the parking area and the utility room with washing machine. Worth mentioning, that both units are also wonderful during cooler season, because all rooms got their very economically wall heating working with infra-red, which is very healthy and spends cushy warmness. The apartment got in addition to them also a wood burner.

Casa Formosa´s surrounding is quite nice to stroll up and discover the nature, there is a plenty to observe. Up from the hill on the back side of the casa, you got a fantastic view over the Ria Formosa, the Atlantic and the fishermen town of “Olhão”. Especially by night it is amazing, when the city lights, the illumination of the island villages, the lighthouse and the stars are shining. Crossing narrow sandy path along very ancient stone walls, almond trees, figs and carobs you should continue your walk. With a little knowledge of a place, you can reach the small lagoon beach of "Cavacos", not longer than half hour by feet. We do recommend a car, going to the beach, shopping or sightseeing. Holiday guests who like to spend a more active leisure time, could do all this also by bicycle.

If it is still not sufficient, the table can be pulled out in no time. Now the table can be covered up to the brim or it can accommodate up to 6 persons comfortably. Ample crockery is available. Comfortable and stable chairs with cushions for cosy get-togethers.
When the weather is once again too nice to sit inside, then jump out onto the terrace. The patio doors allow plenty of light into the apartment. A pergola protects against too much sun with awning. Nothing is far away and one always has an eye on everything. Again, there is a nice table with plenty of space. Comfortable, adjustable chairs. Now admire the view across the large plot and in to the nature.
For all sophisticated meal times, everything should be available. Candle holders, table runners, decanters, red and white wine glasses. Beer and water glasses and something for the traditional brandy.
Kitchen
Cooking together. It becomes very easy here. Sufficient space to conjure up your own favourite dishes or treats. Around the apartment you will find significant herbs for Mediterranean cuisine. Rosemary, chilli, spicy wild thyme, oregano, lemon balm, peppermint and lemongrass for a delicious tea or a refreshing cold drink.
The granite countertop is durable and resilient and offers plenty of space so that the preparation becomes easier. Don’t want to cook? Then quick little things can be made in the oven or microwave. The restaurants in the area are happy to present you their culinary specialties of Algarve.

Fuseta train station is just 100 meters from the apartment. By train you can also explore the attractive city of Faro, the winding Moorish Olhão or the Roman city of Tavira.

Sports activities such as windsurfing and kitesurfing are also possible in Fuseta. Those who like to play golf will find the nearest golf course a few minutes' drive from Fuseta.

The apartment layout is outstanding with a very large living area space, leading you to the beautiful terrace overlooking the pool and gardens, and of course the Rio Formosa. There is also a complete entertainment centre. The kitchen is generous and very well equipped for a holiday home, entry hall, bedroom and bathroom are also a good size . Large windows compliment the feeling of light, nature and spaciousness. The interior design also has significant storage areas in the entry hall and the bedroom to keep yourself organized. The terrace provides sun and sea views all day long, from sunset to sundown. In the evening, it becomes an astronomical delight with the moon and the stars giving a stunning show. ## Neighborhood

Olhão is located next to Faro. It has a lovely and lively old centre with a rich history of traditional Portuguese culture. From here, you can easily explore both the east, west and inland Algarve. Olhão is perhaps most famous as the access point to the beautiful and peaceful islands of Armona and Culatra by ferry. There are public and private ferry options are available, and they are located just a few minutes' walk from the apartment.

Due to the central location, you will have lots of shops, restaurants and bars to choose from in the close vicinity of the apartment. In addition, a supermarket is located at less than 5 minutes walk.

## Transit

You can easily get around on foot or use public transport or a taxi/uber to travel around. If you wish to explore the larger Algarve area, a hire car is recommended. Parking in old town Olhão is for free in most places, except along the waterfront. It can be challenging to find it but usually there will be a spot available close to the apartment. A large paid parking area at a nearby hotel is a good alternative for those who don't feel comfortable navigating the old town streets.

Kevin sent us the information we needed, responded quickly to my emails and answering my questions. The check in is well organized. As soon as we got there Sonia the concierge showed us everything we needed to see, to know and was always available. Kevin and Sonia are nice, friendly and professional. We found a very warm welcome with fruits, red wine and cookies in the kitchen. You can do a lot of activities in and around Fuseta. You can walk to the beach or take a bike. The bikes are available in the garage. We also rented a City Bike with Baby seat in Tavira. They even delivered the bike to apartement. We took a water taxi to see other beaches and the Atlantic. It takes about 10 minutes. Fuseta Tours was our choise. We also did the dolphin watching with then. We liked the small groups and there flexibility. We took the train to Tavira or Olhao. The train station is close to the apartement complex. Boarda de aqua offers good coffee there. For lunch you get the freshest grilled fish in Casa Corvo or Cafe dos Mestres. There is a bakary, a butcher, a market hall and several supermarkets in the village. You get everthing you need in walking distance. Fuseta is a nice and quiet fishing village. A lovely location for relaxed family vacation. Everthing was perfect right from the start. Thanks to Kevin and Sonia."
