Best Apartments in Potsdam

Beth's Place II is a new, beautifully furnished apartment that was built in March 2020. It is located above our garage and offers complete privacy. The apartment has one bedroom with a comfortable queen-size bed, a living room with a twin-size sleeper sofa, and a full-size Murphy bed that can be pulled down as needed. The well-equipped kitchen features a full-size stove, a dining area, and everything you need to prepare a meal. There is also a lovely full bathroom with a washer and dryer, towels, washcloths, and basic toiletries.

The apartment has a private entrance with 14 steps leading up to the front door and has ample parking spaces.

Guests can relax and unwind in their private outdoor space, complete with a hot tub and stunning river views. The outdoor area also features chairs, a fire pit, a grill, and beautiful lights at night.

Our property itself is also quite lovely, and guests are welcome to use our brand-new pickleball court installed in September 2023, and the putting green in the front yard. The Raquette River, which flows right behind our house, is also available for our guests. The trail leading down to the river has handrails to make it easier to navigate, and we also provide kayaks and a fire pit down by the river for our guests.

Our stretch of the Raquette River flows all the way to downtown Potsdam, making it an excellent opportunity to kayak there and explore the town. Please note that kayaking is only available from May to November. We cover the putting green once it starts to snow.

Beth's Place - celebrating 10 years in business in 2024 - offers complete privacy on the ground floor of our home. It includes a cozy bedroom with a queen-size bed, a spacious living room with a queen-size sleeper sofa, a well-equipped kitchen with all the essentials for meal preparation, a dining area, and even a gas grill for outdoor cooking. The space also features a nice full bathroom with a tub/shower, towels, basic toiletries, a private entrance, and ample parking. Additionally, we can arrange two twin beds in the living room, accommodating up to 6 guests comfortably. There is a washer and dryer in the unit for convenience.

Guests will enjoy two private outdoor areas – one facing the putting green and pickleball court (installed 9/2023) in the front and another at the back with a grill, hot tub, and a river view. The hot tub is open year-round and is exclusively for the current guests of the unit. Our other unit, Beth's Place II, also has its own private hot tub. The igloo in the backyard is open year-round and shared with guests of the other unit, featuring string lights, seating, and a heater for colder months.

Beth's Place II is situated on the same property as Beth's Place, offering an alternative for different dates or to accommodate more guests.

Please note, we have a small dog on the upper floors of the house who is usually quiet but may bark briefly to announce arrivals.

Our property boasts a putting green and pickleball court in the front yard and access to the Raquette River at the back. The trail to the river has handrails on steep sections. Guests can enjoy kayaks, a fire pit, and a private beach by the river, with a swimmable stretch of the Raquette River (water shoes recommended) leading to downtown Potsdam. Kayaking is available from May to November, and we convert the putting green during snowy months.

This cozy downstairs apartment located on a quiet side street, will have you feeling at home upon entrance. The entire home has been recently remodeled and updated with new appliances and top of the line furniture. Located on the other end of Bay Street is Ives Park; Potsdam’s beautiful village park, that sits on the bank of the Raquette River. This home is just two houses down from the back entrance of SUNY Potsdam and only a few blocks away from downtown Potsdam. There you will find several dine in/dine out options, ice cream shops, movie theatre, local bars, cafes, boutiques and much more!

- "Getting in was not an issue. It appears there may have been a power outage, as the tv was in demo mode, and needed to be set up. The wifi was not working initially. And there were no trash bags in any of the trash cans. It was all easily resolved with texts and calls to owner. My brother finally got the tv set up. Only thing I would have liked to see was a full size coffee pot option, and more outlets. I am not a fan of keuregs, and bring my own coffee & filters with me. We had to set the toaster on the top of the trash can to access an outlet, as the others were in use by keureg & my mini blender I travel with. Thank you."

Forget your worries in this specious and serene space. You can make a great vacation or short stay in walking distance to Potsdam hospital and Clarkson university. While having access to downtown grocery stores and restaurants etc. The place is cozy and clean and of course a typical village standard and more look like a home than a hotel. If you aren’t used to village houses then you should look for the hotels of the area while this is perfect for someone who is more looking for authentic experiences from the area.

- "The pictures in the posting were misleading. The entry was rotten wood so had to step over to enter the house. Too much air freshener seemed to want to cover up a smell. The place was clean but many broken cabinets and dents in the walls. Not all the lights worked. Oh and right next to the working train tracks. Loud!!" - "This property is exactly as in the photos- furniture is old, apartment is sparse. It looks like it was maybe abused by some college kids in the past and not repaired. Mattresses are mediocre- not high quality. Not enough towels for the number of people (I believe there were four for the five of us staying there). Not enough dishes to be functional for meals (3 full sized plates and one small). Zero extra blankets. Without the cleanliness issue it would have been fine for the price. Problem is that it was dirty. Counters weren’t wiped down, stovetop not cleaned since prior use, one light switch was sticky and bathroom was kind of gross. The host was responsive and apologetic- said she would address it with the cleaner. The entryway was poorly lit at night and the steps to enter the home had a rotten piece of plywood that would definitely have caved in if we had put weight on it. We had to hop over this piece to enter the home. This was mentioned in previous reviews but was not yet fixed. It was definitely unsafe. The host said she had to have the property manager address it and I hope they do before someone gets hurt. Overall it gave us shelter for the few days we were in town for our sons graduation but not very enjoyable to stay in a dirty apartment. I gave the overall three stars because the host was responsive and apologetic. But that doesn’t really change the fact that it was dirty."

A cozy and comfortable place to stay in your trip and feel like home. The place has one flex studio area and one bathroom and kitchen. The place kitchen and bathroom will be shared with another female tenant. Potsdam is a cold town in winters and this is a warm cozy apt is what you need when entering from outside.

- "The host, communication, ease of check-in, and location was fantastic. However, I feel that the space just didn’t feel cozy nor to the level of cleanliness or safety I feel a rented space should be. I was appreciative that there were item easily accessible to clean the space, so I just helped myself to the cleaning products and re-cleaned the spaces I felt needed cleaning. Also, there were some spiders in the home and for me, it was “okay”, but for others, they may be deathly terrified. There is a space/apartment attached where there’s a sign not to enter. It’s a door with a lock similar to what you would see as if you’re in a hotel with adjoining rooms. But they should really change the door and lock as I feel it wasn’t very safe/secure lock. Anyone could easily enter/exit. I feel if the space was made to be more cozy, and safer, I’d visit again in the future."

At the end of the Bagdad Rd. is Clarkson University's soccer fields and the Clarkson hill campus, which is only a 1.5 mile walk.

Other things to note
Please do not go into the barn. This space is for the owner's storage. Also, the neighbors have put up posted signs in the woods which they want us to honor. You may walk around on the 5 acres that comes with this property. The posted signs are fairly close together and easy to see.

This private apartment is nestled in a wooded location adjacent to miles of hiking and skiing, and Mtn biking trails in the Stone Valley Recreation area along the Raquette River. The Barn is on a 5.5 acres, my home is about 100 feet from the barn. Pets are negotiable.

Welcome to Apt #2! A block away from the Pine Street Arena, and Sandstoner Park (which has a playground and a nice beach in the summer). Walking distance to downtown Potsdam, Clarkson, and Suny Potsdam.

It has a double bed and a twin-sized bunk bed (sturdy enough for adults/attached to studs). The living room has a couch and a twin-sized air mattress in the chest.

Weather permitting, access to the yard, fire pit, picnic table, hammock, and grill. Private entrance.

Pet and 420 friendly.

The space
My partner, Jordan (she/her), and I live in the cottage out back. My dad and older brother live upstairs.

Everyone is friendly, and we share the yard. You might see us out walking our dogs. Feel free to say hello!

Guest access
You are of course welcome to all of Apt #2. Feel free to use the yard by the fire pit. There is a small fenced in area behind the cottage out back. We ask that you don't go in the fence, because the gate is weird, and one of our dogs is an escape artist. She wants to live alone in the woods and doesn't understand her favorite dino stuffy won't be out there with her.

Feel free to walk around the yard. In the Summer and Fall, we have sheep in the pasture. You may enter and pet them, or hang out with them. They love company.

The Loft 3 is setup like an apartment efficiency. There are one king bed and one queen bed upstairs with a 65" large screen TV and sound system. The living area, kitchenette, and bathroom are all on the first floor. There is a sofa bed on the 1st floor that can sleep one or two people as well.

The kitchenette has an electric cooktop, coffee maker, microwave, and refrigerator.

There is a sofa bed and a 43" TV on the first floor.

There is no cable subscription. LG Free TV is provided and has most major news sources, sports, and movies. Apple TV and other services are supported from guest's devices. High bandwidth wi-fi is available for streaming.

We have a swing set in the backyard which you invite you to use. (see pictures in Backyard)

Early check in time policy:
1) normal check in time is 3pm
2) early check-in must be approved in a message
3) cannot be determined until after previous guests leave
4) maximum early check in time is 2pm

Late checkout time policy:
1) normal checkout time is 11am
2) late checkout must be approved in a message
3) must be requested at least 1 day prior to checkout
4) same-day late checkout request will not be considered
5) maximum late checkout is 12pm

Guest access
We have self-check-in. There is a parking area sign. Use Door #3 is on the same side of the garage as the parking area.

Other things to note
You will have your own apartment in a stand-alone garage next to our house. We have 6.5 acres of lawn, seasonal sheep, and we are only 5 walking minutes from the access point to Clarkson University's nature trail that has a mile-long path along the Raquette River.
