Our rental is conveniently situated in the heart of Potsdam, offering easy access to the town`s vibrant culture, educational institutions, and recreational activities. A prime location for the Canton-Potsdam Hospital medical facilities, Clarkson University, and SUNY Potsdam.
Guests are provided a `Guest Guide` which outlines our rules and expectations for things such as where to put the trash, cleaning, Wi-Fi access, etc.

Check-in is 4pm and check-out is 11am. Should you desire an earlier check-in or later check-out time, please inquire to owner for availability and if there is a fee.

Housekeeping may arrive promptly at 11am on check-out day. We understand check-out morning can be challenging for guests, however, we have a very small window of time to properly prepare the residence for the next guest arrival. Late departures cause us to incur added expenses and last minute staff adjustments. Unfortunately, because of this, we will charge a `late departure` fee of $50 after 15 minutes and every 30 minutes thereafter if the property has not been vacated.

House Care & Cleaning Expectations:
Our cleaning fee covers a standard turnover cleaning — sanitizing bathrooms and kitchens, laundering linens & re-making beds, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and general tidying. It does not include maid service during your stay, deep cleaning, or cleaning up excessive messes. It is expected that our home, it’s contents, and the property be treated respectfully and in a prudent manner.
Please help us keep our home comfortable and welcoming for every guest by following these guidelines:
• Food debris — clean up food messes to avoid attracting critters.
• Dishes — should be washed and can be left clean in the dish rack or in the dishwasher to dry.
• Respect our cleaners — do not leave any “bodily eruption messes” (vomit, blood, urine, feces, etc.)
• ALL Furniture, Equipment, Housewares — return items back to their original places.
• Bath Linens — place all used bath linens in the laundry baskets provided.
• Bed Linens — our team will take care of stripping beds and wash the laundry.
• Trash —all garbage should be placed in the service bin at the road; do not any leave personal trash inside or outside the home.
• Toys & Games — make sure all toys and game pieces are put away neatly where they belong.

Extra time for things like trash clean up, spills, food on walls, moving furniture, sorting toys, or excessive mess may result in additional charges.

Beth's Place II is a new, beautifully furnished apartment that was built in March 2020. It is located above our garage and offers complete privacy. The apartment has one bedroom with a comfortable queen-size bed, a living room with a twin-size sleeper sofa, and a full-size Murphy bed that can be pulled down as needed. The well-equipped kitchen features a full-size stove, a dining area, and everything you need to prepare a meal. There is also a lovely full bathroom with a washer and dryer, towels, washcloths, and basic toiletries.

The apartment has a private entrance with 14 steps leading up to the front door and has ample parking spaces.

Guests can relax and unwind in their private outdoor space, complete with a hot tub and stunning river views. The outdoor area also features chairs, a fire pit, a grill, and beautiful lights at night.

Our property itself is also quite lovely, and guests are welcome to use our brand-new pickleball court installed in September 2023, and the putting green in the front yard. The Raquette River, which flows right behind our house, is also available for our guests. The trail leading down to the river has handrails to make it easier to navigate, and we also provide kayaks and a fire pit down by the river for our guests.

Our stretch of the Raquette River flows all the way to downtown Potsdam, making it an excellent opportunity to kayak there and explore the town. Please note that kayaking is only available from May to November. We cover the putting green once it starts to snow.

Beth's Place - celebrating 10 years in business in 2024 - offers complete privacy on the ground floor of our home. It includes a cozy bedroom with a queen-size bed, a spacious living room with a queen-size sleeper sofa, a well-equipped kitchen with all the essentials for meal preparation, a dining area, and even a gas grill for outdoor cooking. The space also features a nice full bathroom with a tub/shower, towels, basic toiletries, a private entrance, and ample parking. Additionally, we can arrange two twin beds in the living room, accommodating up to 6 guests comfortably. There is a washer and dryer in the unit for convenience.

Guests will enjoy two private outdoor areas – one facing the putting green and pickleball court (installed 9/2023) in the front and another at the back with a grill, hot tub, and a river view. The hot tub is open year-round and is exclusively for the current guests of the unit. Our other unit, Beth's Place II, also has its own private hot tub. The igloo in the backyard is open year-round and shared with guests of the other unit, featuring string lights, seating, and a heater for colder months.

Beth's Place II is situated on the same property as Beth's Place, offering an alternative for different dates or to accommodate more guests.

Please note, we have a small dog on the upper floors of the house who is usually quiet but may bark briefly to announce arrivals.

Our property boasts a putting green and pickleball court in the front yard and access to the Raquette River at the back. The trail to the river has handrails on steep sections. Guests can enjoy kayaks, a fire pit, and a private beach by the river, with a swimmable stretch of the Raquette River (water shoes recommended) leading to downtown Potsdam. Kayaking is available from May to November, and we convert the putting green during snowy months.

Welcome to our fully remodeled four-bedroom 2600 square-foot historic Scheller House. We have completely remolded (August 2022) this property in a mid-century modern theme. The Scheller House is full of its original 100 year old charm along with all the new furnishings and updates. Its extremely well constructed with roughly two foot thick hand cut Asher style sandstone walls, high ceilings and large rooms! We are located just 2 blocks from SUNY Postdam and the downtown restaurants and shops, Potsdam Hospital is just over a half mile and roughly 1 mile from Clarkson University and a block from old Snell.

The Scheller House is located on a 1.1 acre, double lot in downtown Potsdam. The house sits off the road with a beautiful front yard featuring the original century old front path and manicured lawn. Behind the house you will find an oversized backyard with a new large patio. The patio features a large outdoor dining table and lounge chairs. A new large fire pit/sitting area with ample room around for 10 to 12 people easily is connected short walk away. There is also a swing set located just off of the patio. This outdoor area had to be completely remodeled. We tried to save the original back patio, but it was in too much disrepair to be saved.

As with the outside of the house the inside has been fully renovated and restored to the houses’ original beauty and stature. We decorated with all new furnishings including new beds, mattresses and appliances. On the first floor you will find a fully renovated kitchen, half bathroom with a hand painted ceiling, formal dining room, beautiful living room with fireplace and a bright four-season sunroom. There are four sets of French doors located on this level that allow privacy in whatever room you choose. The new kitchen has updated walls, cabinets, lighting, flooring and high-end appliances. We have repaired and repainted every wall in the house and restored the elegant original one inch hardwood floors.

On the second floor you will find four bright and spacious bedrooms and a full bathroom. Three of the rooms each have one queen bed and the fourth bedroom has a bunkbed with a trundle. The upstairs is mostly new carpet with one original hardwood bedroom floor. All of the bedrooms have multiple windows which allows for ample natural light.

Our vision with the Sheller House was to restore it to its original beauty and splendor and now maintain it this way. The house had suffered decades of neglect and we felt our mission was to bring it back to the elegant home it once was. We feel that we have completed our mission and now we will continue to keep it that way.

Here is the historical write up located on the Potsdam museum website. The Scheller House is one of only a few sandstone houses left standing in Potsdam.

The house at 73 Elm Street is also known as the Carl P. Scheller Home. Carl P. Scheller drew up his own blue prints for his home and then hired Frank Ditano to be the stone mason. Frank Ditano was well known as a stone mason in both this country and abroad. He and some of his sons, especially Angelo, did a lot of masonry work in Potsdam and the local area.

The sandstone was chosen by Frank Ditano; the stone apparently came from a demolished home in Hannawa Falls. Ditano selected the stone and then re-cut by hand and shaped it. The home was the only residential building built of Potsdam Sandstone during the Industrial-Era of usage of the stone (1868-1934). The house is in the Dutch Colonial Revival style and the masonry stone work is rusticated ashlar. Dutch Colonial Revival features include the gambrel roofs with curved or flared eaves along the entire length of the home, which can be seen on the Scheller home.

The entire home has been recently remodeled and updated with new appliances and top of the line furniture. And there were no trash bags in any of the trash cans. It was all easily resolved with texts and calls to owner. My brother finally got the tv set up. Only thing I would have liked to see was a full size coffee pot option, and more outlets. I am not a fan of keuregs, and bring my own coffee & filters with me. We had to set the toaster on the top of the trash can to access an outlet, as the others were in use by keureg & my mini blender I travel with. Thank you."

If you aren’t used to village houses then you should look for the hotels of the area while this is perfect for someone who is more looking for authentic experiences from the area.

- "The pictures in the posting were misleading. The entry was rotten wood so had to step over to enter the house. Too much air freshener seemed to want to cover up a smell. The place was clean but many broken cabinets and dents in the walls. Not all the lights worked. Oh and right next to the working train tracks. Loud!!" - "This property is exactly as in the photos- furniture is old, apartment is sparse. It looks like it was maybe abused by some college kids in the past and not repaired. Mattresses are mediocre- not high quality. Not enough towels for the number of people (I believe there were four for the five of us staying there). Not enough dishes to be functional for meals (3 full sized plates and one small). Zero extra blankets. Without the cleanliness issue it would have been fine for the price. Problem is that it was dirty. Counters weren’t wiped down, stovetop not cleaned since prior use, one light switch was sticky and bathroom was kind of gross. The host was responsive and apologetic- said she would address it with the cleaner. The entryway was poorly lit at night and the steps to enter the home had a rotten piece of plywood that would definitely have caved in if we had put weight on it. We had to hop over this piece to enter the home. This was mentioned in previous reviews but was not yet fixed. It was definitely unsafe. The host said she had to have the property manager address it and I hope they do before someone gets hurt. Overall it gave us shelter for the few days we were in town for our sons graduation but not very enjoyable to stay in a dirty apartment. I gave the overall three stars because the host was responsive and apologetic. But that doesn’t really change the fact that it was dirty."

The place kitchen and bathroom will be shared with another female tenant. Potsdam is a cold town in winters and this is a warm cozy apt is what you need when entering from outside.

However, I feel that the space just didn’t feel cozy nor to the level of cleanliness or safety I feel a rented space should be. I was appreciative that there were item easily accessible to clean the space, so I just helped myself to the cleaning products and re-cleaned the spaces I felt needed cleaning. Also, there were some spiders in the home and for me, it was “okay”, but for others, they may be deathly terrified. There is a space/apartment attached where there’s a sign not to enter. It’s a door with a lock similar to what you would see as if you’re in a hotel with adjoining rooms. But they should really change the door and lock as I feel it wasn’t very safe/secure lock. Anyone could easily enter/exit. I feel if the space was made to be more cozy, and safer, I’d visit again in the future."

The Farm1 has 1 king bed in its own bedroom, 1 queen bed in a second bedroom, a futon in the living room that can sleep one or two people.

The Farm1 and the Farm2 share an entrance at the front of the house. The Farm1 is on the 1st floor, and the Farm2 is on the 2nd floor. The only shared space is the foyer. Each unit is completely private and well soundproofed in the latest renovation.

The kitchenette has an electric cooktop, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, and refrigerator.

There is one 65" TV in the king bedroom, one 65" TV in the living room, and one 50" TV in the queen bedroom.

There is one full bathroom in the unit.

The Raquette room is located in our 1880 restored home. This downstairs room has a beautiful antique double bed. A shared half-bath is located very near this room, and the shared full-bath is upstairs. This room is designed for one to two guests and is a great space to relax, work, or just drop your stuff while you explore the area.

The Raquette Room is one of four rooms open to book in our home. We also have the 1880 Room, St Regis Room, and St Lawrence Room.

We individually book rooms in our house, so you may be staying here with other guests. Our daughter, Jessy, lives here full-time, whereas Dean and I are in residence sometimes. At times, it may just be you at the house... It just depends on the day.

The house is old, which adds some fantastic charm but it also means the floors creak! In old Japan, Samurai residences’ had Nightingale floors - floors that chirp like a bird when walked on. These singing floors helped to warn Samurai of movement inside their homes. The 1880 House has similar floors - they creak and chirp with every step, so you always know when someone is moving about.

Our stairs are steep! We’re not sure if people were shorter in 1880 or if they had longer arms… but traversing our stairs can feel awkward at first. I have a bad back and a bad knee, but I manage them fine; it just takes a bit of getting used to.

We provide off street parking - one space per room you book. Please DO NOT park on the street between 2:00 AM and 6:00 AM as the city will ticket you.

Outside the village, and yet just minutes from Clarkson University and SUNY Potsdam. Located 30 minutes from the Canadian Border and 1 hour from the Adirondack Mountains. Plenty of hiking in the area, on both mountains and trails. I do have 2 lovable and attention seeking cats. That we try not to let in the air bnb rooms.

You will park in the large parking area between the house and the barn. You can pull up near the house to unload, but please do not leave your car on the sidewalk as it will be by others. There is 5 acres of land that is kept mowed and can be used for recreation or walking. Also, the Bagdad Road is very quiet and safe and many residents walk their dogs or jog on it all day long. At the end of the Bagdad Rd. is Clarkson University's soccer fields and the Clarkson hill campus, which is only a 1.5 mile walk.

Other things to note
Please do not go into the barn. This space is for the owner's storage. Also, the neighbors have put up posted signs in the woods which they want us to honor. You may walk around on the 5 acres that comes with this property. The posted signs are fairly close together and easy to see.

There is also a closet for hanging clothes and storing suitcases. The St Regis Room shares a full bath with two other rooms in our home; as well as a half-bath down stairs.

Guest access
You will park in the large parking area between the house and the barn. You can pull up near the house to unload, but please do not leave your car on the sidewalk as it will be by others. There is 5 acres of land that is kept mowed and can be used for recreation or walking. Also, the Bagdad Road is very quiet and safe and many residents walk their dogs or jog on it all day long. At the end of the Bagdad Rd. is Clarkson University's soccer fields and the Clarkson hill campus, which is only a 1.5 mile walk.

Other things to note
Please do not go into the barn. This space is for the owner's storage. Also, the neighbors have put up posted signs in the woods which they want us to honor. You may walk around on the 5 acres that comes with this property. The posted signs are fairly close together and easy to see.

The 1880 Room is located in our rustically restored 1880 home. This room boasts a queen bed, comfy chair with ottoman, dresser, and small desk. This room shares a full bath with two other rooms. The 1880 Room easily hosts two guests and is a great space to relax, work, or just drop your stuff while you explore the area.

The 1880 Room is one of four rooms open to book in our home. We also have the Raquette Room, St Regis Room, and St Lawrence Room.

The house is old, which adds some fantastic charm but it also means the floors creak! In old Japan, Samurai residences’ had Nightingale floors - floors that chirp like a bird when walked on. These singing floors helped to warn Samurai of movement inside their homes. The 1880 House has similar floors - they creak and chirp with every step, so you always know when someone is moving about.

Our stairs are steep! We’re not sure if people were shorter in 1880 or if they had longer arms… but traversing our stairs can feel awkward at first. I have a bad back and a bad knee, but I manage them fine; it just takes a bit of getting used to.

We provide off street parking - one space per room you book. Please DO NOT park on the street between 2:00 AM and 6:00 AM as the city will ticket you.

The Barn is an upstairs apartment in a converted 1840's post and beam horse barn. This private apartment is nestled in a wooded location adjacent to miles of hiking and skiing, and Mtn biking trails in the Stone Valley Recreation area along the Raquette River. The Barn is on a 5.5 acres, my home is about 100 feet from the barn. Pets are negotiable.

The Cabin at LFF is a small and cozy spot halfway between Canton and Potsdam. It sits on the edge of our small orchard on our 220 acre certified organic farm. From the front porch and kitchen window you can view our horses and/or cows grazing in their pasture. It has a kitchen, living area, loft bedroom and full bath. There is a Roku TV and Free wifi.

Guest access
Our guests have access to the area around The Cabin and to our hiking trails. The Cabin has it's own driveway with enough parking for two cars. We do ask that you make sure to park in the driveway and not the farm road as the tractors need to get by. If you'd like a tour of the farm and gardens to meet all the animals here, we would be happy to show you around.

We live at the main house on the farm so are available to help with whatever you need.

Laing Family Farm is a working beef farm so we ask guests to stay away from all barns and machinery unless accompanied by Scott or Traci. Although most of our animals are friendly, their behavior can be unpredictable so having us introduce you to the animals on a farm tour is the best way to meet them.

We enjoy sharing our hiking trails with our guests but please stay on our trails to avoid trespassing on our neighbors' property and to avoid damaging the vegetation and woods along the paths.

Welcome to Apt #2! A block away from the Pine Street Arena, and Sandstoner Park (which has a playground and a nice beach in the summer). Walking distance to downtown Potsdam, Clarkson, and Suny Potsdam.

It has a double bed and a twin-sized bunk bed (sturdy enough for adults/attached to studs). The living room has a couch and a twin-sized air mattress in the chest.

Weather permitting, access to the yard, fire pit, picnic table, hammock, and grill. Private entrance.

Pet and 420 friendly.

My partner, Jordan (she/her), and I live in the cottage out back. My dad and older brother live upstairs.

Everyone is friendly, and we share the yard. You might see us out walking our dogs. Feel free to say hello!

You are of course welcome to all of Apt #2. Feel free to use the yard by the fire pit. There is a small fenced in area behind the cottage out back. We ask that you don't go in the fence, because the gate is weird, and one of our dogs is an escape artist. This Master suite is a couple of minutes from downtown Potsdam, and near Canton-Potsdam Hospital and SUNY Potsdam. Stores and restaurants are within walking distance. The suite features a comfortable California king bed and a private bathroom with large, jetted shower. Located on a dead end street, this space is in a quiet area while still near downtown Potsdam.

This Master Suite is attached to our primary residence. Guests have a private entrance and will have the bedroom and bathroom to themselves. The suite features a large California king bed, and a spacious shower with jets and multiple shower heads. Additionally, there is a huge, built-in closet with ample storage, should guests decide to stay with us for a longer period of time.

There is a mini fridge and drip coffee maker in the room.

There is a 55” Samsung Smart TV with access to some channels. Guests can login to their own streaming services.

We have young children, so expect regular noise of us coming and going throughout the day. However, we do our best to limit noise to ensure you have a peaceful stay, especially in the evenings. You may see us around, but we will respect your privacy/space.

There is no cable subscription. LG Free TV is provided and has most major news sources, sports, and movies. Apple TV and other services are supported from guest's devices. High bandwidth wi-fi is available for streaming.

There is 5 acres of land that is kept mowed and can be used for recreation or walking. Also, the Bagdad Road is very quiet and safe and many residents walk their dogs or jog on it all day long. At the end of the Bagdad Rd. is Clarkson University's soccer fields and the Clarkson hill campus, which is only a 1.5 mile walk.

Other things to note
Please do not go into the barn. This space is for the owner's storage. Also, the neighbors have put up posted signs in the woods which they want us to honor. You may walk around on the 5 acres that comes with this property. The posted signs are fairly close together and easy to see.

Beth's Place- celebrating 10 years in business in 2024 - is a luxurious, self-contained apartment with a separate entrance for maximum privacy. It is spacious, tastefully furnished, and conveniently located within 1 mile of downtown Potsdam. Our guests can also enjoy the scenic Raquette River, with free kayaks available for use. For those seeking extra indulgence, the apartment also features a private hot tub – exclusively for our guests' use!

The space
Welcome to Beth's Place, a private space on the first level of our home. You will find a cozy and comfortable queen-size bed in the bedroom, a spacious living room with a queen-size sleeper sofa, a well-equipped kitchen with a stove, medium-sized refrigerator, dishes, silverware, baking dishes, cookie sheets, dining area, and even a gas grill for outside cooking. Our lovely full bathroom comes with towels, washcloths, and basic toiletries.

The unit has a private entrance and ample parking, and for larger groups, we can accommodate up to six people by setting up two twin-size beds in the back of the living room along with the queen-size sleeper sofa. For your convenience, there is also a washer and dryer in the unit.

Our guests will have access to two private outside spaces, one out front facing the new pickleball court and the putting green, and one private space out back with a grill and a hot tub along with a river view. The hot tub (open year-round) is not shared with anyone else but current guests of the unit, and the igloo, outback, is open year-round for guests to enjoy, with string lights, seating, and a heater for the cold months. Please note that the igloo is shared with our other unit, Beth's Place II, on the same property as Beth's Place. Our property offers an array of amenities, including a new pickleball court (installed 10/2023), a putting green in the front yard, and the Raquette River out back. The trail down to the river has handrails where it can be a bit steep along with some stairs and a bridge. We also have kayaks and a fire pit down by the river for guests to enjoy, along with a private beach. Our stretch of the Raquette River goes all the way to downtown Potsdam, where you can park your kayak and explore the town before kayaking back home. Please note that kayaking is usually available from May through November, and the putting green is covered once it snows. Pickleball is weather permitting.

Please note - have a pickleball court in our front yard, approximately 30 yards from your apartment. During the day, you may hear a slight hitting noise inside your apartment if someone uses the court. However, most guests report that the noise is faint and not bothersome. Some guests have mentioned that they never noticed it at all. Guests are always welcome to join in on the pickleball fun! Be sure to bring your sneakers!

Smoking is permitted outside and away from the entrance only.
