Latakia Tay Basin Waterfront Maisonette is located in the heart of Perth!
This is a very special European style “maisonette” apartment, built in an 1864 historic property in Downtown Heritage Perth. There is a private entryway and one flight of stairs leading to this beautiful Parisian style unit featuring a comfortable king size bed.
The kitchen and a sitting nook are on the lower level and the upper level is the entire third floor of the building, including the living / dining room, bedroom & bathroom, with a sweeping view of the beautiful Tay Basin. There is a 170-year-old exposed stone wall in the living room!
We provide all of the necessities including linens, etc. The kitchen is fully equipped with fridge, stove, microwave, dishwasher and coffee machine. All utensils, cookware etc are provided. Internet is free along with an HD Smart TV .
Blackout curtains in all rooms so our guests can have a good night sleep
Outdoor balcony with outdoor furniture in the summer to enjoy a cup of coffee or a glass of wine…

The neighbourhood: our Latakia unit is located diagonally across the street from the Town Hall in central heritage Perth. The building backs onto the Tay River Basin so you can bring your ‘water toys’. We are just steps away from the Crystal Palace reception hall for special events and weddings.

- "Unit had several dead (and a few alive) bugs on the floors when we checked in. Spent a great deal of time on the phone working on relocating to another unit in the building. Phone support insisted that I send photos of the bugs before they would relocate us. I complied. After a few hours wait - we were provided check-in instructions to another unit with fewer amenities. Phone support would not reduce our rate for the lesser apartment which was disappointing. When I asked that the manager call me - I was repeatedly told "the manager only communicates on email". The second unit was fine from a cleanliness (no bugs) standpoint - but no refund or discount was ever provided."

Welcome to Perth’s unique and beautiful Historic Music Hall.

About this space:

Step into Perth’s history from the first privately used telephone, to the 1850 Music Hall. Posters of actual performers at the Music Hall grace the entryway, from violinist Camille Urso to opera singer Anna Bishop and General Tom Thumb, entertainer made famous by P.T. Barnum. Once inside, you'll be surrounded by the intriguing and delightful details connected to the building's unique musical history, such as an actual section of the original ornate coved plaster ceiling in the kitchen. The building was also home to the first privately owned telephone in Canada.

The space:

You'll have the entire apartment as your own private space. In the main area, enjoy abundant natural light from large multi-paned windows. Of the two beautifully appointed bedrooms, The Music Room (note the trumpet on the dresser) was the original "green room" where performers waited prior to heading on stage. Across the way is the Bell Room, which contains an antique telephone representing Perth's first privately used telephone, originally located in that room.

The entire apartment features high ceilings and original pine floors for a spacious yet cozy environment. We strive to keep our decor local with furnishings and accessories from regional artists, chosen from the many boutiques in the area.

Kitchen:

Our newly designed retro kitchen has everything you need, from full-sized stove and fridge to an old-fashioned styled blender. French press coffee maker, full set of dishes and silverware and a dishwasher. And, as our gift to you, you'll receive your own bag of Perth's locally roasted coffee.

These rooms were the original entrance to the Music Hall and are imbued with the building's history. In the Music Room, for instance, current walls are covered in protective wallpaper and paint to preserve signatures of many performers from the 1850s underneath. Also preserved is the original Music Hall ceiling, still intact and soaring overhead behind the false ceiling (installed in 1890). Amazingly, the current apartment ceilings still remain 10 feet high.

Bedrooms:

Your stay in The Music Room features loads of natural light, two high windows overlooking mature maple trees, and original wood floors. A large closet and antique chest of drawers provide ample storage. At bedtime, sink into the new queen-sized Casper mattress with organic cotton sheets and soft quilt. Two side tables with touch-sensitive usb lamps invite you to enjoy a good book in bed.

If you opt for the Alexander Bell bedroom, your surroundings will include an antique phone and a dresser, plus a new queen-sized Casper mattress with organic sheets and soft quilt.
There is also a dedicated desk and chair for your workspace. A generous closet and high window overlooking the back garden complete this space.

Bathroom:


Bright and roomy, the antique bathroom with clawfoot tub is a relaxation oasis to soak at the end of the day. Cotton towels and organic 3-in-1 are also provided.

If you're sensitive to scents, note that all sheets and towels are washed with unscented laundry detergent.

Budapest, the Tayside Pier Apartment is located in an 1864 historic property in Downtown Heritage Perth. There is a private entryway and one flight of stairs to the suite. We offer free on-site parking.

The high baseboards, thick trim, vintage doors and crown molding are thoughtful architectural features that complement the new bathroom and stylish kitchen.
