Description:

Mi Casita Soñada is ideal for the solo or budget traveling pair. It is a charming, detached quarters located behind the property`s beachfront house. It contains its own separate entry and is located just steps from Nicaragua`s most beautiful stretch of sand and is conveniently located at the Panga Drops surf break. It is also located a short walk to the Playa Colorado and Los Perros breaks. The studio contains a modest living/dining area, efficiency kitchen, bathroom, a queen bed and futon sleeper. The studio is also equipped with a safe for your valuables, AC, Wi-Fi and cleaning service. An added bonus to this property is the access to the home`s swimming pool if there are no renters in this property`s main house (access to the swimming pool is not available to casita guests when the main house is rented).

Casita guests have access to the beach through one of the sides of the main house. The studio is equipped with AC, Wi-Fi and cleaning service three days per week. Please note that the pool is only for guests staying in the main house. If there are no guests in the main house, casita guests will be permitted to use the pool.

Please note that the housekeeping staff will do any laundry you may have as they are the only ones with access to the washer and dryer in the house. This service is included with your stay.

This home is located within the Hacienda Iguana development, which is known for its world-class surf breaks. There are 4 surf breaks within walking distance- Playa Colorado, Panga Drops and Los Perros are in the neighborhood and Playa Amarillo is to the south of Playa Colorado (walkable at low tide). We also have a beautiful 9-hole golf course. The course is well designed, beautifully maintained and very affordable to guests.

The best place to get groceries is La Colonia in Rivas, 100m south of the turn off for Tola on the right (west) side of the street. (While in Rivas, you should also top off your fuel because these are the closest gas stations to where you are staying). We HIGHLY recommend stocking up on all or as many of the groceries you will need for your entire stay OR if you don’t want to deal with planning, shopping, and preparing meals ask us about booking the meal plan, our full service catering option.

Eating out:

There are several great food options within the Hacienda Iguana development. The most visited and only beachfront option is Pili`s Kitchen, located at the Beach Club in front of the Colorado Break. It offers a variety of fresh foods, juices, smoothies and full bar. In La Joya next to the Eco Casitas is The Salty Koala, serving up amazing Asian cuisine and craft cocktails. In the commercial zone of the development (where NSR is located) you will find the rest of the culinary options. Above our office is the legendary Casa Ananas, which offers authentic Italian cuisine, pizza and daily international special nights. Next to our office/surf shop you`ll find Downtown Iguana, which offers seafood and authentic Nicaraguan cuisine at a fair price. Across the street you`ll find Scoops and Spokes, which serves up some amazing homemade ice cream, good coffee, baked goods, paninis and fresh juices. A few doors down is the Iguana Brewery, offering sports bar fare and local craft beer.

We have a well merchandised store (NSR Surf Shop) located inside the Hacienda Iguana development, which offers souvenirs, surf accessories, clothing, beach towels, flip flops, sunscreen, sunglasses, swimsuits, wet suit vests and tops, rash guards and more! We also rent scooters, dirt bikes, surfboards, boogie boards and SUPs out of this location as well.

Other businesses in the Hacienda Iguana community include Pure Spa, 2 small convenience stores with a variety of grocery items, and an ATM is located on the property. Other activities in the development include yoga, horseback riding and in-home massage.

The Riviera commercial plaza is located within a half mile of the Hacienda Iguana entrance. Businesses in this shopping center include BAC bank with ATM machine, a small grocery store (with the basics) and Bagels and Bakes, a cafe with daily home-baked goods and coffee.

Getting Around:

This property is located a 2-2.5 hours drive from the Augusto C. Sandino International Airport in Managua, and approximately 4 hours from the Liberia airport in Costa Rica. Most of the major vehicle rental agencies have locations at the Managua airport (we recommend you make a reservation in advance).
If renting a vehicle, we feel its only necessary to have a 4wd if planning to travel to some of the beaches further south (in the San Juan del Sur area). If one prefers not to rent a vehicle, we can arrange airport transportation and daily sightseeing/surf trips. We have motorcycle and scooter rentals available and we can also arrange vehicle and boat transport to other surf breaks in the area. There is also the option of renting a vehicle from Alamo and National, which has an office next to Hacienda Iguana.

You are surrounded by fruittrees and tropical plants, but only 350 m from the restaurants, bars and downtown area. In between of the trees you see glimpses of the Bay and from the 2 communal terraces with BBQ area you have a broad view of the San Juan Bay, beaches and the Pacific. Small shops are nearby in the street: the small hill is part of the fishermen neighborhood called Camilo Ortega. Expect to be part of the Nicaraguan street life.

Nicaragua doesn’t have a mail or email system so we aren’t given any notice when this happens, (we find out when you do). In the off chance that this happens during your stay, we apologize in advance as these outages are out of our control. That being said, we do what we can to make things more comfortable for you. The Stone Elephant has 3 water reserve tanks (about 3500L of water), so we tend to have water available when a lot of San Juan does not ❤️🐘😊.

There are 4 surf breaks within walking distance- Playa Colorado, Panga Drops and Los Perros are in the neighborhood and Playa Amarillo is to the south of Playa Colorado (walkable at low tide). We also have a beautiful 9-hole golf course. The course is well designed, beautifully maintained and very affordable to guests.

The best place to get groceries is La Colonia in Rivas, 100m south of the turn off for Tola on the right (west) side of the street. (While in Rivas, you should also top off your fuel because these are the closest gas stations to where you are staying). We HIGHLY recommend stocking up on all or as many of the groceries you will need for your entire stay OR if you don’t want to deal with planning, shopping, and preparing meals ask us about booking the meal plan, our full service catering option.

Eating out:

There are several great food options within the Hacienda Iguana development. The most visited and only beachfront option is Pili's Kitchen, located at the Beach Club in front of the Colorado Break. It offers a variety of fresh foods, juices, smoothies and full bar. In La Joya next to the Eco Casitas is The Salty Koala, serving up amazing Asian cuisine and craft cocktails. In the commercial zone of the development (where NSR is located) you will find the rest of the culinary options. Above our office is the legendary Casa Ananas, which offers authentic Italian cuisine, pizza and daily international special nights. Next to our office/surf shop you'll find Downtown Iguana, which offers seafood and authentic Nicaraguan cuisine at a fair price. Across the street you'll find Scoops and Spokes, which serves up some amazing homemade ice cream, good coffee, baked goods, paninis and fresh juices. A few doors down is the Iguana Brewery, offering sports bar fare and local craft beer.

We have a well merchandised store (NSR Surf Shop) located inside the Hacienda Iguana development, which offers souvenirs, surf accessories, clothing, beach towels, flip flops, sunscreen, sunglasses, swimsuits, wet suit vests and tops, rash guards and more! We also rent scooters, dirt bikes, surfboards, boogie boards and SUPs out of this location as well.

Other businesses in the Hacienda Iguana community include Pure Spa, 2 small convenience stores with a variety of grocery items, and an ATM is located on the property. Other activities in the development include yoga, horseback riding and in-home massage.

The Riviera commercial plaza is located within a half mile of the Hacienda Iguana entrance. Businesses in this shopping center include BAC bank with ATM machine, a small grocery store (with the basics) and Bagels and Bakes, a cafe with daily home-baked goods and coffee.

Getting Around:

This property is located a 2-2.5 hours drive from the Augusto C. Sandino International Airport in Managua, and approximately 4 hours from the Liberia airport in Costa Rica. Most of the major vehicle rental agencies have locations at the Managua airport (we recommend you make a reservation in advance).
If renting a vehicle, we feel its only necessary to have a 4wd if planning to travel to some of the beaches further south (in the San Juan del Sur area). If one prefers not to rent a vehicle, we can arrange airport transportation and daily sightseeing/surf trips. We have motorcycle and scooter rentals available and we can also arrange vehicle and boat transport to other surf breaks in the area. There is also the option of renting a vehicle from Alamo and National, which has an office next to Hacienda Iguana.

The space
Situated on the second floor with a balcony, this apartment comfortably accommodates up to 4 guests with its queen bunk bed. The kitchen is equipped with a full oven, spacious refrigerator, and plenty of storage. Guests also have access to a swimming pool within the complex, though availability depends on whether the adjoining house is rented out. It's advisable to inquire beforehand for access.

If this happens during your stay: As hosts we CAN’T control this inconveniences. We’ll ask and update you of the problem and when it would be reinstalled 🙏🏻

2️⃣ Insects or bugs may enter the property if you LEAVE THE DOORS or WINDOWS OPEN. Please keep an eye on this and avoid bugs inside the apartment. We won’t be responsible for inconveniences due to not following recommendations.

3️⃣ During rainy season water leaks and humidity could occur spontaneously in the walls or ceiling of the apartment. If heavy rain creates leaks or humidity please notify us to know about this and try to fix the problem when there’s no rain. This WILL NOT BE A VALID REASON to ask for reimbursement, because the property will be handed to you in good condition.

You will be asked to sign a form that will be handed to you by one of our crew members when you check in—-in order to agree that the property is given to you free of bugs, water running, light working, appliances working properly, amenities complete and everything working correctly.
Also to verify number of guests coming in, and that you understand our rules . This agreement will avoid inconveniences to us and allow you to enjoy your stay having the required information.
