The natural materials have been carefully selected with great attention to detail. Among other things you will find marble, travertine, granite, slate, natural stone, recycled wood, old bricks. The result is a mixture of contemporary glamor, anchored in elements of fascinating tradition. The large windows give you the opportunity to have a wonderful view over the lake and to be embraced by the sun's rays. You have sun from early to late.
The room is equipped with a wardrobe, a kitchen, a bathroom with a stone shower, a living and dining area with a double bed and a wooden table with chairs that invites you to read or enjoy the view. They have a roof terrace with a marble table and chairs with cushions. Cascina Borchina has a lawned garden and a park. For this you have two deckchairs with cushions. Although we are in the middle of a forest, Cascina Borchina is surrounded by ancient rocks and stone walls, which has been used in history to grow fruit plants and wine. Today we have lemon trees, rosemary, sage, lavender, thyme, mint, cactus, wild cherry, chestnut, oak and hazelnut.

The apartment is in a quiet part of Cadrezzate on the shores of Lake di Monate, which has some lovely beaches and great swimming. There are plenty of opportunities for kayaking, horse riding and hiking.

The town of Ispra, on the eastern shores of Lake Maggiore, is just 5 minutes drive. Here too visitors will find many water sports, plus the famous lakeside promenade the Passeggiata dell’Amore and restaurants and bars to suit all budgets. There is also a ferry port with many boat services to explore Lake Maggiore.

Ispra’s weekly market (Saturday morning) in Piazza Firenze is a treasure trove of local produce from vegetables and fruit to regional cheeses and salami. There is also a supermarket in the town for daily supplies.

Milan’s international Malpensa Airport is a 35-minute drive.

The village of Viconago is very quiet, ideal for those who want to relax and enjoy the view of the lake and mountains. The summer evenings are animated by children playing in the pedestrian streets and the bar that is located in the main square. Often there is live music and the inhabitants organize feasts and concerts

Getting around
The village of Viconago is only a short drive from Lake Lugano, and from the town of Ponte Tresa, where tourists can find shops and restaurants. Every saturday in Ponte Tresa there is a street market.
The loft's strategic position allows guests to reach the center of Viconago in a few minutes, where they will find a small grocery shop and a Pizzeria. The town of Luino and Lake Maggiore are just 20 minutes away. The city of Varese, that offers a wide choice of shops and entertainment such as cinemas, theaters, shows and concerts, is reachable in only 25 minutes drive. Milan is 1 hour away. Moreover the village of Viconago is located very close to the border, and allows guests to reach Switzerland in a few minutes drive. The closest city is Lugano.
Even Lake Como is only 50 minutes away, a perfect destination for a day trip in Bellagio.

- "Simply put, this place certainly has the wow factor. On arrival through the small village perched on the hills overlooking Ponte Tresa, the apartment is rather unassuming despite the fact one enters through impressive wrought iron gates and it is the ground floor part of a magnificent larger property. On entering the apartment, there is a well appointed kitchen with breakfast bar as well as spare room with elevated double bed (and its own bathroom), which the children loved as it was accessed via a small staircase. Then comes the highlight of this place - the combined living room/master bedroom with full glass surround to the most stunning view of the town, lake, surrounding hills and mountains. It is a view that we could never tire of as we ate breakfast every morning on the terrace. We almost didn't want to leave most days as we could have just sat there soaking in the panorama. The master bathroom is capacious with a shower that has more jets than you could possibly want! If you really wanted to luxuriate, then the hot tub was perfectly placed to enjoy the views some more. I did mean to use the fitness room during the week, but failed miserably as we were out every day enjoying the area of Lugano, Lago Maggiore, Varese and Monte Tamaro. Lakeside locations don't get much more convenient than this, nor more family friendly! This Lake Maggiore apartment with pool is a short walk from a supermarket, cafes, bars and restaurants. You can even walk along the lakeside to the boat stop where you can catch a boat to all the other towns and villages on the lake.

For the sporty amongst you, there are tennis courts just a few minutes walk away as well as a water sports centre where you can hire canoes, pedaloes and boats. You can also hire bikes on site. Both e-bikes and traditional bicycles are available.

Since this Lake Maggiore apartment with pool is within walking distance of the boat stop, a car is not essential although having one will potentially allow you to explore more of the area. For those that do hire a car, the property has allocated parking in an underground car park.

We used a local restaurant, sorry can't remember the name, on the right hand side of the road heading towards Luino, great food and full of local Italians. Always a good sign I think! We hired a car and found the roads to be good and the traffic fairly light. Beware the motorbikes though. The drivers appears to have a death wish! All in all we had a great time and I would recommend this owner and her apartment."

It's not surprising that we have guests that come back here year after year!

Guest access
There is a closed parking space 3/4 minutes by feet from the entrance of the house, and you will be able to see your car from the terrace.
The parking is not directly connected to the house: you will have to walk a little to get to the house.

To enter the private parking there is a narrow street and a portion of it is unpaved, as it is the parking area (dirt/gravel/grass).
The parking is not equipped with lights at the moment, so during the night you need to use your phone's torch to see better and reach the main street.
Even though the street to the parking seems very narrow, a van or suv can pass without problems (there are usually tractors and pickup trucks driving on that road, and I had guests with a van transporting 2 motorbikes using the parking without problems), but it's understandable that some people might find it hard to pass through.
Keep in mind that the streets here are almost all quite narrow: it's an old hamlet 😉
If you have 1 or 2 bikes/motorbikes you can park them inside the private courtyard at the entrance (with a closed gate).

If you prefer not to use the closed parking, you can use the parking spaces on the street, those with white lines (those with yellow lines are only for residents): there is one in the street few meters from the apartment (after the church in via Pasubio) and plenty in piazza Municipio (230m from the house, 1 min by car and 3 on foot).
If all these parkings are full, there are some more spots on the side of the road a little further down after piazza Municipio, in via Alla Maltra (500m from the house, 2 mins by car and 5 mins on foot).

The summer months (especially july and august) are high season here, so it's more difficult to find parking.

Other things to note
On the same floor of Casa Luna there is another apartment with a neighbour: the two apartments share the terrace which is divided by a partition (you can't see each other).
The neighbour is friendly and kind, but please always refer to me of you need any help (reach me via airbnb or mobile as I live downstairs) and respect her privacy.

The bus stop is located in Piazza Municipio (3 mins walk from the house. The nearest supermarket (a small Carrefour Market) is 1 km away from the house (2 minutes by car/15 minutes on foot), as is the pharmacy, a pizzeria and a bar with a newspapers and cigarettes shop. The closest hospital is located in Cittiglio, approximately 6 km away.
