Perfect for cozy stays away from it all, our comfortable cabin has its own private entrance, skylight, wood-burning fireplace stove, pure well water, and a private bathroom with shower room (which is also a stream room) all just a short walk from the Sudbury river, conversation land with nature trails, history, and outdoor sports. No contact with the host is necessary. This is a fully self-contained separate space attached to one end of the house.
The space
A few minutes walk from the Sudbury River and just a 30-minute drive from Boston and Cambridge, we have a 2-room private cabin with its own entrance, private bathroom, and enclosed breezeway veranda attached to one end of our house.
Paneled in solid pine, it is rustic in look but newly constructed with up-to-date facilities including central heating, a new wood-burning stove, a shower and stream room in the private bath, a skylight, and a "breeze-way" veranda. The standard-size double bed sleeps two comfortably and there is an empty closet in the entry hall for your things. There is also a twin bed in the breezeway, which can either be used as a day-bed or as a separate space for an additional guest in your group to spend the night. (There is a door between the bedroom and breezeway.)
Guest access
Guests have their own entrance leading to two rooms and a bathroom all to themselves. If you're looking for privacy, a break, or a retreat of any kind, this is the spot. If you want to be able to cook big meals, then it's not. Though there is a kitchenette with a half size fridge (6 cubic ft), a microwave, authentic drip coffee maker, and a toaster oven in the space, there is no full kitchen.
During your stay
Sometimes I am around and available in person, sometimes not.
It all depends on when you stay and for how long because my schedule is ever-changing. Happy to interact (or not) if I am around.
Other things to note
WiFi, towels, linens, blankets are all provided as well as a half size fridge with small freezer compartment, an electric kettle, a microwave oven, a toaster oven, and a small selection of teas, coffee, cocoa, and hot and cold cereal for breakfast in the breezeway room off the bedroom.
BEDS.
If you have a child or a third guest, the trundle-bed sofa in the room easily works as a bed for small adults and any child who's 4 or older. There is also a separate twin bed in the breezeway if guests prefer separate beds or you're coming as a group of 3 or 4. Of course, either the trundle bed or the twin can be used as a day bed for afternoon naps or place to read a book.
it turns out that there is no automatic way on Airbnb to add an extra charge if two guests use more than one bed and our cleaners charge more when they have to change extra beds, launder more sheets, etc. (With more than 2 guests, there is an auto charge per guest per night and that easily takes care of it. It's only when 2 guests use 2 beds that this comes up )
It's just an added $25 one time cleaning charge when two total guests use two beds instead of one bed.
For those with experience paddling canoes, we have a canoe, paddles, and life jackets that can be borrowed for local paddles on the Sudbury River. (In the amenities list, "canoe" is not one of the choices so I ticked "kayak". There is no kayak here.)
