For those visitors to Portland/Freeport/Old Orchard Beach who don't want to be in the thick of tourists and noise, this is perfect. It's a quick 5-10 minute walk to the beach, pier, restaurants, and arcade (I am now a Skee Ball wizard). The innkeepers are lovely, kind, interested people and I loved the continental breakfast. Those reviewers who don't understand the concept of the advertised "continental breakfast" it means baked goods, cereal, juice, coffee, really basic but about 100x better than a chain version. If you're looking for a gourmet meal every night and a breakfast to match, this is not the place for you. A lovely gesture is putting out pastries (cookies, cream puffs!) and coffee at around tea time for guests to enjoy and have an afternoon break. Our room was on the street and although a bit noisy, it didn't at all deter from our experience. Given that Old Orchard Beach is hopping in July, we weren't disturbed at all. People are civilized and the noise is mostly contained down by the shore and the arcade area."

Cottage is a separate building with it's own outdoor space.

History
This cottage was built in 1948. The main house was built by the owners of the cottage in 1966 with the intention of turning the cottage into a two-car garage. When the house was nearly finished, the owners mother fell ill and they moved her into the cottage so they could take care of her.
The new owners left it as a guest cottage and eventually used it as rental income. In the early 2000’s a developer wanted to build 44 homes on the acreage behind the property but the local community came together to preserve the 105 acres which is now Black Brook Preserve.
We bought the property in 2014 and my 24-year-old daughter moved into the cottage. We ripped up the shag carpet and laid wood floors. We also painted the wood walls white and installed a beautiful gas stove/fireplace for both heat and ambiance. In 2016 my daughter bought her own house just a mile away. That’s when we decided to try hosting on AirBnb. We painted the cottage inside a welcoming light grey with white trim and redecorated it to be a clean, comfortable getaway that would be a place we would want to stay.
We started hosting in March of 2018 and found it to be a wonderful experience.

We have a well equipped 1 bedroom space over our new garage (no garage access, owners present) with a queen bed, huge great room, kitchen with refrigerator, dishwasher, convection microwave and induction cooktop. 1 full Bath with washer/dryer, outdoor shower. 360 degree views of Biddeford Pool and Fortune Rocks Beach. Centrally located to many southern Maine beaches and activities. Walk to Biddeford Pool, Wood Island Lighthouse and use stairs to Beach. Towels, sheets and Beach chairs provided.

The space
We have a guest space above our new garage on Fortune Rocks Beach in Biddeford, Maine. We are situated on a stretch of land between the beach and Biddeford Pool. A short walk to Biddeford Pool with access to the General Store, views of Wood Island Lighthouse, etc.
We have direct beach access via a set of stairs, or a sandy beach is available with public access only a five minute walk away.
The space has all the amenities you would need, with the exception of a traditional oven. We have a tub shower, washer and dryer, refrigerator and freezer, dishwasher, convection microwave, toaster oven, dual convection hot plate, keurig coffee maker, and fully stocked kitchen.
The space has a large great room with a dining table, one bedroom and one full bathroom. The bedroom has a raised queen bed with a new foam mattress. The bed is raised with drawers underneath, and we provide a step platform for easier access to the bed height.
The space does have air conditioning, and the ocean breezes are amazing and the space takes advantage of 360° views of ocean and Biddeford pool. Many guests have opened windows, sat in the comfy chairs and decided to read a book off our bookshelf. We do ask that if you leave, please shut all windows as with the ocean breeze the rain tends to come in sideways.
All linens and towels are provided as well as beach towels and beach chairs. We also have an outdoor shower right next to the entrance to rinse off after the beach. We love our sand, but prefer it stay on the beach :-) .
Because the guest space is on the second floor, there is a set of stairs to access the space. There is also a set of concrete stairs down to the water which is not accessible at high tide. We supply a tide chart and information to some local places of interest.

Please note there is a full set of stairs to reach the guest house, as well as a set of concrete stairs to descend to the Beach.
We do have a pickleball court taped out on the driveway if you would like to play during your stay or would like some lawn/beach games like ladder toss, bocce, cornhole, etc. just let us know !

This newly renovated top floor apartment in a two-unit building is in the heart of Portland’s busy and vibrant Munjoy Hill/East Bayside area, just steps from renowned restaurants, bars, local shops, and the beautiful Eastern Promenade. Two free off-street parking spots are included. Park your car and walk to everything the Portland peninsula has to offer. The Old Port and the working waterfront can be reached on foot in 10 minutes.

The space
Enjoy views of Back Bay and downtown Portland from this tasteful, modern and spacious second story apartment with two bedrooms, a full master bath and a half bath. The master bedroom has an ensuite full bath with a tiled step-in shower. The loft area features a fully enclosed bedroom with a queen bed and adjacent half bath.

The entire apartment is yours. Two tandem parking spots are included.

Other things to note
There is one flight of stairs to access this apartment. The loft area is on the second level (3rd floor) and has an open staircase that is not suitable for small children. The design of the railing prohibits a gate. There are night lights to show the way to the bathroom but the ceiling is slanted and may cause difficulty for making a middle of the night trip. This extra loft space is recommended for guests who don’t mind slanted ceilings and are confident in their mobility.
