Fredric lived here for 2 years so you can tell it has been tried and tested, not hastily done. He is a perfect host. Called us several times to give us sample itineraries and good restaurants, checked in on our check in, and even gave us some medical supplies and advice to get us through the airport during COVID-19 (he is a doctor). - "Pristine room, get a lot more bang for your buck than surrounding hotels, good location near the water and accessible to nightlife walking, plenty of food close by. " - "We were really impressed with the new hotel. There are only about 16 "rooms" which are all spacious suites with bedroom, bath, living room/full kitchen. Decor is mid-century modern with a grey and white color scheme. There was a turntable and LPs to play in the room. They supplied delicious coffee with the coffee maker. The keyless entry was very easy. Check in is on your phone, which confused us at first, but the manager was there and he was very helpful. Bed was very comfortable. It was an easy walk to the waterfront in one direction and to the Portland Museum of Art in the other. If we had a complaint, it was only that at night we could hear the hum of some HVAC unit, which was probably not even associated with the hotel and not under their control. At first we were bothered but then it became "white noise." It was a pleasure for us to stay at The Weldon Hotel."

The shower was some random assortment of leftover shampoo and conditioner, the toilet in one bathroom was disgusting, the ac had mold on it, the tv remote didn’t work actually all 3 of them. When you walk in the back it is a complete mess with half cut wood and stuff under the porch. The upstairs wasn’t just steep if you’re over 60, forget about it, the place is a fall hazard where a fall will happen at some point. it’s spots like this where an owner puts some crazy price and cleaning fee because he’s got some empty spot to load people in and nothing is what it explains to be other then location. What a joke. "

It's a quick 5-10 minute walk to the beach, pier, restaurants, and arcade (I am now a Skee Ball wizard). The innkeepers are lovely, kind, interested people and I loved the continental breakfast. Those reviewers who don't understand the concept of the advertised "continental breakfast" it means baked goods, cereal, juice, coffee, really basic but about 100x better than a chain version. If you're looking for a gourmet meal every night and a breakfast to match, this is not the place for you. A lovely gesture is putting out pastries (cookies, cream puffs!) and coffee at around tea time for guests to enjoy and have an afternoon break. Our room was on the street and although a bit noisy, it didn't at all deter from our experience. Given that Old Orchard Beach is hopping in July, we weren't disturbed at all. People are civilized and the noise is mostly contained down by the shore and the arcade area."

There is driveway that can accommodate one vehicle, but we set the expectation that our guests check for street parking first. We also have another Airbnb unit on property, so we can’t guarantee the driver will be available at all.

Parking the neighborhood is free parking overnight and typically not an issue finding a spot “during the day,” as the evening hours can take a bit more searching, if arriving late. If you do arrive and park on the street, if you’re going out we suggest you take an Uber/Lyft (as they are cheap), or everything is within a 20/30 minute walk in the city.

The space
This one room cabin is part of a sweet neighborhood but is entirely hidden and private. There is electricity and an electric heater but no running water or WiFi at this time. The space is equipped with a water filtration container that will be full when you arrive. There is a French press, an electric kettle, and a refrigerator. Guests have exclusive access to a clean, well maintained, and easy to access outhouse. There is no shower, sink or modern bathroom.

The location is 25 minutes from a number of beautiful beaches, and 30 minutes from Portland.
There is no public transportation and taxis, Uber, Lyft, etc are scarce. I HIGHLY recommend coming with a vehicle.

You will have access to the cabin and the outhouse, and you are welcome to wander around the woods and neighborhood.

Other things to note
Parking is just off a large dirt, but well maintained, road. Guests will need to walk a 40-50 ft path to get to the cabin. The cabin is modern and very comfortable but also basic. There is no running water, or kitchen equipment. There isn’t a modern bathroom, just an out house.

Surrounded by charming cottages in the idyllic seaside community of Ocean Park, this historic 1880’s guest house sits on the town square, one block from the beach and steps away from the soda fountain, bakery, restaurant, shuffleboard, tennis courts, and library.

Accommodations are clean and comfortable yet modest, and so are the prices. Step back in time in this lovely house that has been offering an ideal location along with a unique communal living experience for generations.

The space
The Curtis is a large guesthouse with 20 bedrooms located on the second and third floors. The bedroom floors each have a sitting room with cable TV in the second floor sitting room. These floors also have shared bathroom facilities with lavatories being gender designated. One the main floor, there is a large country kitchen, two dining rooms, a large parlor and two large wraparound porches with one of them being screened.

This bedroom is on the second floor, has a twin bed, a mirrored bureau, a chair and ceiling fan. It is a corner room on the northeast side of the building, closest to the bathrooms and has one window facing the rear of the building and one facing east.

All common spaces are shared with me and other guests. There is plenty of space for everyone.

All guests have designated space in one of three large refrigerators and access to a microwave oven, toasters, toaster oven and free morning coffee or tea, regardless of how many nights they stay.

Guests who stay 4 nights or longer also have access to the gas cooktop and an outdoor gas grill.

Washer and dryer is for STAFF USE ONLY. Laundry facilities are available 1/2 mile away. There is a Backyard Clothesline for wet towels and bathing suits.

Originally my toddler son's room, but now a calm getaway for one solo adult for short trips OR monthly or weekly stays, such as travelling nurses. This room has plenty of empty shelf, wall and dresser space and I would not mind renting it monthly or even as a winter rental.

The feel of a suburb in the midst of a small city. Being on a hill - Munjoy Hill - you get sunrise down the street and sunsets that usually draw a crowd one block up the street. Mellow historic district area at the water’s and city’s edge.

It’s a cool old Colonial home built by Irish immigrants in the 1880’s, modest and simple but a solid structure - in a super location. These comfy & charming accommodations are within easy walking distance to the Old Port yet offer more quietude than any other central location in the entire city. Under 3 minutes' walk to spectacular views and sunrises over of the ocean & Casco Bay along the Eastern Promenade - in addition to panoramic views and sunsets even closer in the other direction to the west overlooking the entire peninsula and Back Cove - Bayside area from Fort Sumner Park.

The bedroom includes a comfortable, queen-size bed; WiFi; Bluetooth speaker; small laptop table (sometimes found in closet) and an optional larger folding desk available by request; a room-size fridge & Keurig coffee maker, along with a selection of tea.

Munjoy Hill is the most desirable neighborhood in the city offering ample open green space and recreational opportunities (tennis, basketball, baseball fields) & nature areas – all along the ocean – in addition to easy walking access to the heart of the city. For the spectacular views, convenience and the quiet of a residential neighborhood with 1800's character and charm, nothing tops the Hill!
