Take extra caution when walking from the driveway to the front door in the winter as the walkway can be slippery, especially in ski boots. Should you need them, shovels and ice melt are provided.

We provide one bath towel per person and two hand towels per bathroom. Washcloths are not provided.

Welcome to the UpCountry Guest House. This beautiful center hall colonial home and guest house was built at the turn of the century. Our Austrian grandfather bought it in 1950 for our family to gather and to ski at Cranmore Mountain using the Alberg technique brought from Austria by Hannes Schneider in the late 1930's. Our grandparents and parents had been skiing in the area as far back as the mid 1930's at a ski tow in Jackson at the Spruce Mountain Lodge. We would like to welcome you to share in the memories of this beautiful area and the comfort of our home.

The guest house has an open concept first floor that includes an updated kitchen, a cozy entertaining area centered around the fireplace and a dining area with beautiful views of the of the property and the Moat Mts. It has a large picture window at the sink that looks onto the fieldstone patio in the back of the property. It is tastefully decorated with antiques and a bit of memorabilia from the area. The upstairs has two bedrooms, a King size bed in one and a Queen in another. The bathroom has a traditional tub/shower combo.

The guest house is on the left side of the main house attached by a breezeway. A family member will always be at the property to welcome you and to answer any questions regarding the area and the many amenities.

It is a quick few minutes walk to the charming village that has fabulous restaurants and boutique shops. The famous outlets are a few minutes drive south down Route 16. Cranmore is 1/2 a mile away, a great family mountain that provides many types of outdoor activity and entertainment. Wildcat, Attitash and Bretton Woods ski areas are 15-30 minutes north.

There are many cross country trails throughout the area, rock and ice climbing, ice skating, snow shoeing, snowmobiling and just about any other outdoor activity you can imagine. The area is a winter wonderland!

In the summer, there are several golf courses, lakes and rivers to swim, kayak or canoe. White Mountain National Forest has a large network of hiking trails and huts. There is Storyland for families and many other attractions. We call it La La Land!

- "My boyfriend and I thought the house was perfect. Very clean with everything provided (except food of course) that you would have at your own house. The location was perfect. Close to downtown and the trails were only yards away. Great walking trails out to Echo Lake or a tougher climb to the ledge. We didn't attempt that one. Dianas bath was close by also. We did have an up close and personal meeting with a bear who tried relocating the bear proof trash barrel by the door. Don't know who was more scared us or him. All in all it was an amazing week and I hope we can stay there next year."

The cabin has all new appliances and a new ductless mini split system (heat and AC) for your comfort during all 4 seasons. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the gas fireplace in the living area. There is patio furniture on the screened in farmers porch to enjoy 3 seasons. The courtyard has a hot tub, grill and fire pit!

30$ per night for 1 dog. Must clean up all pet waste and keep off all furniture or bring your own covers for beds & couch. If there’s dog waste left behind anywhere or excess dog fur or other signs of the dog on furniture the extra cleaning fee that our cleaner charges us will be charged to you.

Please be advised-- the bedrooms are connected which is better suited for families and close friends. (To get to the queen bedroom you must walk through the bunk bedroom.) We have installed a curtain divider for better privacy!

Our cabin is serviced by a private well with a water treatment system, ensuring water is safe for showering and cooking. For drinking, we recommend using bottled water, as the well water may occasionally have an unpleasant odor or taste (though we drink it without issue). The hot tub, filled with treated well water, is thoroughly cleaned and balanced between each guest to ensure a refreshing experience, though minor staining or scale may occur due to the natural mineral content.

This is a Cabin in the woods of New Hampshire. There may be bugs and other wild life outside of the cabin depending on the season. Bugs & other wild life may end up in the house if the doors are kept open too long. We do have a monthly subscription to keep the pests at a minimum.

There are security cameras on property. Disabling and/or tampering with them is a violation of the rules and subject to cancellation with no refund.

Camera 1 is a spotlight facing outward, toward the porch.
Camera 2 is a spotlight located on the side, facing outward toward the driveway.
Camera 3 is a spot light located on the home facing the yard and swing.
Camera 4 is a spot light located on the garage facing the driveway.
The cameras do not look into any interior spaces or the private courtyard. The cameras actively record video when motion is detected by the device. The cameras are used for security of our property including; confirm the cleaners have arrived, necessary maintenance has been performed, guests have checked in / out at the correct time, there aren't any unauthorized guests or pets and all rules have been followed.

The Cabin is located on a 5mph private dirt road. 4X4 / AWD may be necessary in winter / spring. Please be advised it can get dusty when it’s dry and muddy when it is wet!

There is a beach on the Saco that is a 15 minute walk. There is no parking down at the beach as it is private to the neighborhood. If you’re interested in walking to the beach let me know and i can explain how to get there!

The two full beds are on the landing above the living space and are not completely private.

Winter amenities include an outdoor skating rink and snowshoe sign-out.

Enjoy two bedrooms, one w/queen, one w/twin bunk beds. 23x18 living room w/TV, 2 futons, two cot size beds, air conditioner, ceiling fan. New wood stove, (bring wood) a new walk-in bath. Full kitchen, dining room, outdoor picnic table. Lots of room in this refurbished mobile home with large addition. Screened in porch w/swing. Grill or cook on the outside fire pit, w/ fire permit. We have exciting news; a new water system has been added and a new filtration system. Hopefully, no more mice!

The space
Location, Location, Location. That's what is unique about the Cabin Rest. It's a short drive to the Albany Covered Bridge and the Kancamagus Highway, which brings you to the other side of the Forest, Franconia, Whales Tale, Woodstock and Historic Lincoln, NH. and only 40 minutes to Storyland. Huge country yard, for kids to play, gentle hill in back for sledding, white National Forest all around, only one neighbor can be seen. Lots of parking space, Red Eagle Pond is a quick nearby walk for nature lovers, and fishing folks. Lots of trails and easy 10-minute walk on forest trails to the Swift River. Camp fire with permit, and a place for a tent or two, extra charge for tents.
The house is simple and clean, and a single dwelling place so no sharing anything. Our cabin is not new, it is a family camp. Many people have enjoyed our place for 20 years. Our kids are grown, and we only use it occasionally, now we get to share the White Mountain experience with others at a fair and economical price.
Canoeing, hiking, but most of all Resting is available in our quiet setting.

Guest access
We share the forest with animals, an occasional bear, or moose, (keep porch door closed and trash covers on please), a mouse or squirrel once and a while, definitely some mosquitoes in the spring, (nice screened in porch for protection), and whatever else loves forest life.
Most of our place is available for your use, our stuff is there but you can use it. Please keep the cellar trap door closed, and do not open the sheds up, they are private, thanks. Games, puzzles, books, magazines, movies, game console, no cable, but we do have Wi-Fi so enjoy.
Toys and dolls, trucks and diving stuff, thank you for using with respect.

Other things to note
The property owner behind us occasionally use our driveway to access their back pasture, but always with a good notice. Sweet people and though you can't see them they are great neighbors as are the property owners to the left of our Cabin Rest. Neighbor to the left is a wonderful young man, quiet with a bunch of boys. They keep a watch on our place when we are away. They know we are having guests a lot and do not mind. You can't hear them ever. Traffic slows down in the winter when the road is closed about 4 miles in.

Recently refreshed, 2 bedroom home centrally located to all the best activities the area has to offer including Storyland, Diana's Bath, Skiing, Saco River & Marshall’s Conservation Land ( hiking, mountain biking, snowmobiling etc.). This getaway is for 4 people looking for a comfortable/private cabin with standard facilities/amenities, far enough away from crowds/traffic but close to everything! House recently updated including floors, cabinets, counters and main bed mattress.

Guest access
Access to entire house; however, back bonus room is difficult to heat so recommend not using in the winter and keeping the sliding barn door closed. The small game room in stable is NOT available for guests between December to April

Other things to note
First and foremost, this is a cabin-like house near the woods. It is comfortable with standard amenities; however, this is not hotel quality. It was recently updated including floors, cabinets, counters etc..

We are pet friendly (1 pet only) but contact host for fees for an additional pet. The expectation is that the guest picks up after their pet, do not leave alone and keeps pets off the furniture especially the beds since the comforters are difficult and expensive to clean. Please be courteous so others can enjoy the retreat also.

The house/landscape is maintained regularly by a local person but keep in mind that we are situated close to nature (e.g., woods, brush, uneven landscape, critters) so if you are uncomfortable with nature-like conditions then this is NOT the house for you.

We only have shower capability, no bath option.

For TV, you can stream or connect to the VSH/DVD player. Live YouTube and Prime streaming are available for guests. There is a small DVD only TV in the bedroom with the twin beds. We have an assortment of older VHS and DVD available in the blue cabinet near the entry way.

We do not supply fire wood for the wood stove or fire pit or lighters for liability purposes but they are available for responsible guest use. I would recommend bringing "fire starters" also to make it easier to start a fire especially if you are not familiar with wood stove usage. There are multiple places along RT 16 and within town to purchase wood (e.g., street stands, Lowes/home Depot etc..).

Winters (November thru April) in the white mountains can be unpredictable. It is common to have brief electrical outages and snow squalls resulting in snow drifts and fast accumulations. The driveway and pathway to house is plowed regularly but is on a schedule so may not be fully plowed/shoveled depending on snow conditions and guest arrival time. Therefore, there may be times a guest may encounter snow/ice on the driveway or pathway to the house prior to the plowing/shoveling. If you are unable or unwilling to adjust to these unpredictable winter conditions and activities then this is NOT the winter cabin for you.

Caution: The driveway and deck can become very icy in winter. It is recommended to to wear boots with good traction when coming and going from the house and walking around the driveway/property.

Accessibility to the front and back yard in winter is severely restricted due to snow accumulations. It can often be several feet deep. We will try to maintain a small space for pets to use but depending on the conditions cannot be guaranteed. Please plan on walking your pet and be careful as it is always slippery.

If the power goes out; it is usually for only a short time. The propane heater will not operate without electricity. Plan on using the wood stove. There will be some battery operated lanterns that are accessible. Please do not use candles if at all possible as they can be dangerous (especially if left unattended). The host has no control over the power outages so plan accordingly.

The property has an out building which contains the small game room but this is not available between December thru April as it is not heated and stores the snow blower.

This over-garage studio has a private entrance, a queen-sized bed, a futon, gas fireplace, kitchenette & bathroom. There is a refrigerator/freezer, microwave, coffeemaker & toaster but no oven/stovetop. There is a small gas grill available May-Oct. We have beautiful mountain views & are located 10 minutes from downtown. NOTE: Our driveway is long and steep. 4WD/AWD vehicles are often needed to safely get up our driveway in the winter. Also, you will hear the garage door when it opens & closes.

The space
We are dog friendly to friendly dogs! If you want to bring your furry friend please let us know. There will be an additional charge of $25 that you can pay when you are here. We have two dogs of our own. They are both Bernese Mountain dogs named Rocky and Chloe. Both are friendly!

Please note that our driveway is about 0.2 mile long with a steep grade. While we keep it as clear as we can, in the winter four wheel drive or all wheel drive is often needed to safely get to the house. If you visit in the winter please be sure to come in a vehicle that will allow you to make it up the driveway. Also, because the space is above our garage you will hear the garage door open when we come and go.

Guest access
You will have access to the full unit above the garage, the small deck on the back, and the Adirondack chairs near the path that leads to the entrance.

Other things to note
We don’t have cable but provide access to Fubo TV, through which you can watch all the major channels and many others you would typically find on cable. (Honestly, we don’t even notice that we don’t have traditional cable anymore!) You can also sign into any streaming services to which you belong through the television.

We retired several years ago and moved to N. Conway Village. This house was hand built by Otto Scholl who was a ski instructor at Cranmore Mt. back in the 50s. He worked with Hannes Schneider who is famous in N. Conway. Otto built the house with three units which he used for friends and family when they visited from Austria. In this unit we cannot accommodate pets.
This unit has been renovated and was updated last year. It's very comfortable and when family is not up, we rent it.

The space
The Studio is next to a two bedroom one bath unit which is usually rented out, but can be added to this unit to make a 3 Bedroom 2 bath 2 kitchen and a 2 living room unit. Sorry, no pets in this unit as we also share this with friends and family who have pet allergies. Plenty of parking!. Walk to North Conway Village where there are numerous restaurants, bars, coffee shops, Conway Scenic Railroad, North Conway Country Club Golf Course, a children's playground and community center and many specialty shops.
This unit has a high end queen bed which is fairly new and super comfortable.
A complete kitchen and shower bath.

Guest access
You will have the whole unit which also has a small patio with chairs and a table. There is a combination lock on the door for easy access. The unit also has a back entrance which leads through the garage where you will have access to trash barrels. There is also supply cabinets where there are additional kitchen items such as deep fryers, Insta Pots, etc. We have everything you could need. "If you can't find it, ask and I will get for you."
Again as a reminder, there are no pets allowed in this unit.

Also, during holidays we require a 3 night minimum, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day.
