Beautiful Maine Views! Comfort of home! Exciting Adventures!
House
West Bath, Maine, USA

Perched high above the New Meadows salt water river, Juniper Ledge House provides the ideal place to get away! You can choose to watch the water, osprey, seagulls and sunsets from from the large deck, use the house for a quiet escape - or as a home base for outings and exploring nearby attractions. All are just minutes away! There is a 1.5 mile hiking trail on the Juniper Woods property and access to parking, stairs down to a common dock, and waterfront (subject to tides) if you just want to stay right at home.

The Juniper Ledge House is ideal for one or two couples, or a couple with older children. Because there is a steep "cliff" in front of the house, we do not recommend this property for very little ones. Sorry, but pets are not allowed on this property and it is also a non-smoking property.

You certainly will not be roughing it if you choose this property, but if you think you need a really nice, comfortable and MAINE place to stay and a great chance to do lots of different and exciting things from there (or just to hunker down!) Juniper Ledge House is a great choice!
The house is cooled and completely furnished with everything you will need for a wonderful week's stay!
The Bathroom has a tub/shower, hair dryer, curling Iron
The master bedroom has beautiful, high views, a comfortable queen bed and pocket french doors open through to a small sitting room. (The couch in this room can be converted as an additional sleeping space and when sliding doors are closed, there are full pull-drapes to provide privacy between these 2 rooms).
The second master has a comfortable Sleep Number king bed. All bedroom windows have blackout curtains if you are a late sleeper.
The full kitchen features a double oven, gas stove, microwave, dishwasher, trash compactor and refrigerator with door ice and water. We provide dishes, silverware and all the cooking utensils you will need. There is a choice of Drip Style and Keurig Style Coffee Maker and a coffee grinder for your use.
Other amenities include Internet access with printer, Three tvs, Gas Fireplace (for rainy days!), Ironing Board and Iron.
Outdoors there is a Covered Front Porch with chairs and a convenient recycling area. Overlooking the water is a huge deck with 2 umbrellas, a large outdoor dining table with cushioned seating and pub table. There are 6 comfortable wicker chairs for relaxing. You have a Gas Grill, Beach cooler, chairs, towels and beach umbrella for your use.

The owners will greet you upon arrival, give you a short orientation to the house and answer any questions you may have about the area. You will find a notebook filled with information and "things to do", notes from them and from other renters.
We live on site in an apartment and walk out basement on the opposite side of the house during the summer.. The units are separated by an enclosed stairway and living spaces are on the opposite end of the house. Each of us have our own parking, living decks and separate entry areas. We honor your privacy completely! Although we're friendly, we never intrude but you can contact us if you need anything during the week.

To see "summer pictures" of the property, just paste this address in your search window...There are more pictures in a slide show on this site.

Guest Reviews:

- "We stayed here for a week with another couple as a central spot with relatively easy access to the coast (for great fresh lobster) and various lakes (for boating, etc.) as well as other site seeing opportunities. Pros: great location, very clean and comfortable. Excellent deck for relaxation during the day with practically zero noise from traffic or neighbors. The views of the lake is great! There are also Comfortable living spaces and bedrooms and a full kitchen. Besides the clean comfortable spaces, this place has a lot of amenities! Too many to list, lol. Cons: there is only one bathroom so if you have more than 4 people…this could be an issue. Also, if you have more than 4 people, there won’t be enough towels for the week. There is no laundry facilities available so no washing your towels half way through the week. This being the case, you’ll have a slight Oder to the towels half way through a weeks stay since there is no good place to allow the towels to dry properly. Something else to consider: the parking for this location is across the lawn and down a little bit of a grade with a stepping stone path. Your average person will be fine with this but if any guests have difficulty walking, this could be another point to consider as there is no guest parking allowed at the same level as the entry to the home"

- "The efficiency apartment was well located with access to the water on three points and filtered views of the water. While the bathroom is small, the space allows for complete privacy. Pat, the owner is most gracious and accommodating but respectful of your privacy. Great location with easy access to Bath, Brunswick, Popham Beach, and the Botanical Gardens. We also enjoyed just relaxing at the property." - "The apartment was spacious and light-filled yet with a cozy feel, very comfortable bed and chairs, and all the implements we needed. Sitting on the porch in the morning was delightful as was waking up to the sun through the large windows in the bedroom. The property is very spacious with many comfortable places to sit and amazing views out over the bay. It was tempting to just sit in the hammock and read while occasionally looking up to take in the beauty of it all. Pat was a wonderful host and gave us recommendations that turned out really well. We enjoyed everything about our trip--the planned and unplanned parts--and choosing this location with Pat as the host made that possible."

- "The house is beautiful, clean and comfortable. And I have never been in a more organized home. The location is close to coffee, restaurants, library, shopping and museums. My 80/90 year old parents were not able to use the 2nd floor as the stairs are pretty steep but no worries they stayed in the beautiful bedroom and used the washroom on the first floor." - "Can’t say enough about this place! Awesome communication from owners/manager before and during our stay. Great house, has everything you could possible think of or need in any way. Stocked with amenities. Charts and manuals telling you where everything is and labels in everything. Really, really great. We had 9 people and 3 dogs. Right in town and you can walk to everything. Guest Reviews:

- "The Kitchen great/room was a good size. And the bathroom was big too. Washer/dryer was a nice amenity. The bed was too soft for our taste and the dormers made getting in and out bed a little acrobatic. The property was very pretty." - "We had a wonderful stay! The property was beautiful and very well cared for. It was the perfect peaceful retreat after a long day of moving our daughter and her family into their new Bath home. A glass of wine sitting on the dock on Winnegance Lake was the best."

Arrowsic, Maine, USA

Overlooking a dynamic tidal marsh on the rocky Maine coast, this beautiful two-bedroom guest house is the perfect place to stay and unwind. Tucked away in the woods and surrounded by nature, you get the tranquil island getaway vibe yet you are still close to ocean beaches, a lovely pond with rope swing, excellent fresh seafood, downtown Bath, and only 40 minutes to Portland. This really is an ideal location for exploring midcoast Maine and surrounding areas.

Stay includes a pass to all the state parks which includes the local beaches. We have beach chairs, beach towels, an umbrella, sand toys, and boogie boards available for you to use as well.

The Space:
This craftsman-style home built in 2002 boasts soft pine floors throughout with lots of natural light. It has an open concept living space and kitchen. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the basics you’ll need including a full-size fridge, stove and oven, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, coffee grinder, blender, dishes, cooking utensils, etc.

The screened-in back porch is perfect for dining outside, sipping your morning coffee or tea, and soaking up the sounds of the birds and nature, including bald eagles, ospreys, blue herons, ducks, deer, and more.

There is a full bathroom with a stand-up shower, washer, and dryer on the first floor. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, both with a water view, as well as a half bathroom. Both bedrooms have a closet and dresser. Beds have brand new sheets, pillows, and down comforters. We also have comforters without down filling, if you prefer.

Guest access:
You will have the guest house and screened-in back porch all to yourself. There are walking trails close by.

Close By:
There is a nature preserve with trails just a few minutes walk up the road as well as a fresh water swimming spot (with rope swing!) also just a few minutes drive or 15 minute walk up the road. We are located 20 minutes from Reid State Park, 15 minutes to Five Islands Lobster Company, 30 minutes to Popham Beach, 40 minutes from Portland, and just 7 minutes to downtown Bath. There are many excellent seafood and non seafood restaurants close by.

Other things to note

We have satellite internet which generally works just fine. However, it can on occasion, run slower, especially when trying to use a video chat. Streaming videos and movies usually work well. The only time it has not worked is during severe weather. Broadband service is coming to the island in the very near future!

The parking is about 40 feet down from the house on so you must be comfortable walking on uneven ground; there is not a paved walkway to the guest house. We have never had a problem with this but appreciate that this may be problematic for older people or those with disabilities.

We do not have cable service, but we have internet TV to stream Netflix, Prime, and other services.

Cell phone service can be spotty depending on the service provider. There is a landline in case of emergency.

The owners live in the main house next door which is about 40 feet from the guest house. The house and neighborhood are usually very quiet. Our 12-year-old son who visits every other week sometimes plays in the yard with friends. We also have a small cat who loves frolicking in the yard. She is very friendly and loves attention. However, please do not let her in the guest house, as we keep the guest house pet free.

Guest Reviews:

- "Our family of 4 thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this guest house! The location is so peaceful and serene, and the house is clean, comfortable and had everything we needed (with a couple additional baby items supplied after chatting with Jill.) We were centrally located to some of our favorite spots in Maine, so this was a perfect home base for us. The internet was quite spotty while we were there, but it was not unexpected based on the listing, so no issue for us. We would love to come back (and our kids would too)!"

Guest Reviews:

- "10" - "We had a family wedding in Bath and needed a house that would be big enough for 3 families. This house was perfect and had plenty of bedrooms for everyone, lots of space and the two living rooms were nice also so people could spread out a bit. The kitchen is well stocked and we made use of the fire pit one night which the kids loved. Their are 3 full baths - one in a bedroom on the 2nd floor and the other 2 are accessible to everyone. It was a bit tricky figuering out showers with everyone but we made it work. Otherwise it was a perfect location and everyone enjoyed it."

- "Sorry it was great, I in error hit one star. Everything was just as he states." - "Nice, clean, cosy, conveniently located and easy enough to find. Great communication with host, comfortable beds and plenty of hot water. very responsive and would definitely consider using again. " - "Great location and interesting layout in this historic house. It was the perfect respite for our stay before our puffin tour the next day and close to town for a concert on the common and restaurants. Note : to access one of the bedrooms you need to go through the bathroom, but it worked out fine. Dmitri was super communicative and was kind enough to let us know we left a pair of shoes there after we departed. Since we were still in the area, he left them on the porch for us to retrieve, which we appreciated. "

- "Cute neighborhood. Very quiet. I do have a couple things that wasn’t very pleasant…there was a loofa with hair left in the shower. Nothing felt clean. The rug was dirty in the back sitting room. It was very very hot . There was nowhere to put the trash because the trash was full outside. A lock should be on cellar door. Owner was very easy yo deal with. "

Guest Reviews:

- "This is a cute little apartment in a charming location. Brianne was friendly and responded quickly to questions and issues with WiFi. I do think the listing should be adjusted to be clearer about the following: 1) The bedroom, while large, is on the floor above the rest of the apartment, with a long and steep flight of stairs down to the bathroom; 2) The only window in the bedroom opens onto a fire escape that reaches to the ground, so we did not feel comfortable leaving it open and found the bedroom stuffy in a warm week in June despite the two fans provided. Kitchen and living room are nice, location is delightful for walking around Bath, and we enjoyed our stay!"

MIDCOAST, HISTORIC, FRESH. DOWNTOWN BEAUTIFUL BATH with Laundry
House
Bath, Maine, USA

A cool, mid-sized apartment in Maine’s “City of Ships”. Recent remodel in the 1849 Elijah and Mary Upton House with everything you will need for your stay. Bath is a delightful river town with restaurants, shops, river cruises, walking tours, trolley rides all orientated around it’s proximity to the river. Reid and Popham beach - gorgeous state parks are located just down river. Mountain biking, hiking, historic neighborhoods begin at your doorstep.

The space
This apartment is located on the second floor, with a first floor private entry hall. At the top of the stairs is a full bath with shower and a separate laundry. The stair opens into the kitchen/living area and includes an out-of-the-way desk and office chair. A separate bedroom with walk-in dressing room finishes out the space and allows a space for yoga or tai chi practice. Located in a building constructed in 1849 as a private residence and once converted into four apartments, it now houses two VRBO spaces and a craftsman’s workshop. Although it has been recently remodeled it still retains some of the feel of the old place with large, divided-lite windows, 9’ high ceilings, period moldings and a neighborhood of similarly aged homes. The south wall has 3 classic double hung windows which let in wonderful light throughout the whole of the space. The patio has table and chairs and is a nice spot to catch up on social media or enjoy a glass of wine.

WiFi is available throughout the apartment as well the outside areas.

Some interaction with me, other guests and my family may occur but in general it is pretty chill.

We provide a vehicle pass for State Parks which may be used for day use everywhere in the state.

Guest access
The entire apartment as well as outside garden and red brick patio area.

Other things to note
We are located in what is known as Midcoast Maine which generally starts in Brunswick (12 minutes south) and runs up to the Belfast area (1.75 hours northeast). About half way is Camden and a little closer than that is Boothbay Harbor. Bar Harbor is about 2.75 hours northeast of here. Portland is 40 minutes.

There are a couple of bicycles to use (byo helmet), cooler, beach chairs, towels and other supplies for outdoor fun.

As a working artisan, there are some pieces around the space that are examples of my work. I would be delighted to speak with you about purchasing similar items.

Guest Reviews:

Room in cozy home walking distance to town
House

Wonderful room in a family neighborhood. I am renting one bedroom of my 2-bedroom house. The room has a large bunk bed that has a king size mattress on the bottom and twin on top (as well as a trundle bed). Walk to the YMCA and basketball courts, whiskeag train in 5 minutes, and downtown in 10 minutes. Nice outdoor space with BBQ.

You will have the house to yourself as I am gone for the moment. On Halloween night my dad will be there to hand out candy as it is important to the neighborhood!

The space
The room has a bureau and closet space. Perfect for long term guests or friends traveling. There are two living rooms, the front with a TV and the back with an electric wood stove. There's quite a bit of reading material, lots of games and puzzles. Fulll kitchen and dining room. There is also a washing machine and dryer you are welcome to use.

Sunny room in an artist's house
House

Light, south-facing ground floor bedroom adjoins a bathroom with shower (the bathroom is just outside the room).

The room is a ground-floor bedroom, but there are steps up into the house. You enter through the kitchen, and it's fairly separate from the rest of the house. I can't provide breakfast, but you can use the kitchen.

I have a friendly, sociable medium- sized dog, who you'll no doubt meet.

The space
This is the ground floor bedroom in an artist's house/studio. There is one queen-sized bed. I can't do breakfast per se, but I do make coffee, and tea is available. You're also welcome to use the kitchen if you like.

Several guests have commented (with a smile) that I have "an old-time Airbnb", which is a shared room in my house instead of a commercial hotel. I enjoy meeting you all, who come to visit, and do my very best to provide a warm welcome and a comfortable room. However, as many Airbnbs come to seem more and more like hotels, I sometimes get the impression that that's what guests are expecting, and it's not exactly what I offer. My house is over 125 years old, it's lived-in, it's clean and comfortable, and I'm happy to share that with guests, some of whom have become friends - but there's more history than gleaming chrome.

Guest access
The bedroom and bathroom are all yours, and you're welcome to use the kitchen, too (sharing it with us). We live in the rest of the house. There is a door directly out to the big back yard, if you like. The bedroom and bath are on the ground floor, but there are steps up into the house and two steps down into the room from the kitchen.

During your stay
I'm usually around, but often busy. I work in my studio at the house, as well as normally being there in the evenings. However, your part of the house is pretty separate from all the rest of it so you can be quite private if you like.

Other things to note
Check-in time is normally 5 to 9 pm, but other times are possible if you let me know. It's always helpful to know more or less when you're coming, so I can be sure to be here and have the room ready. I can't promise to have everything ready before 5 pm unless you let me know in advance.

I offer a discount for non-refundable reservations, because it helps with my planning too. PLEASE NOTE THAT NON-REFUNDABLE MEANS NON-REFUNDABLE! Per Airbnb policy and mine, I cannot offer refunds for unfortunate personal circumstances (illness, changed plans, whatever). Please don't ask.

Don't book a non-refundable reservation if you aren't willing to lose the entire fee if something unforeseen happens.

IMPORTANT NOTE: GUESTS ARE RESPONSIBLE for the legal consequences of internet copyright infringement! If you download something or watch a movie without appropriate access, I get in trouble with my internet provider. They have exact dates and times, so I (and they) know who was here when it happened.

If you use my internet connection, you agree to indemnify me and reimburse me for any expenses related to unauthorized internet access!

Wabi Sabi
Apartment

Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. This building, built in 1832, was the sole building to survive the devastating fire of 1837. I wonder about those who have inhabited these walls over the past 190 years! Because the building is old it has a few quirks! The walls aren’t quite straight, the wood floors show where walls once stood or have moved. That’s why I call it Wabi Sabi…. The imperfections add to it’s beauty!

The space
This studio space is on the second floor of a historic brick building in the center of beautiful downtown Bath. It is a perfect base for exploring the beaches and quaint towns of Midcoast Maine. One block away is Waterfront Park where you can enjoy summer concerts, picnic or shop the farmer’s market.

We love our town with its historic Main St. perched on the shore of the Kennebec River. It is a 5 minute walk to restaurants, shopping, and our little market. Within 20 minutes of the house there is hiking, swimming, canoeing and exploring. If you would like tips on restaurants, museums, outings, great hiking and locations for photographing we always welcome a conversation. Maine is magic and we want to make sure your stay is wonderful.

Other things to note
We also ask that guests text or email with their expected arrival time in advance (a one/two-hour range is fine), and then let us know when they leave (or an expected departure time).

Please let us know if anything is broken, missing, or not working. Thanks!

William Larrabee House
Apartment

Stylish, spacious 1 bedroom apartment with separate entrance. On 2nd floor, 1 flight up. Air conditioning in the bedroom only.
1.5 blocks from the Kennebec River, a short walk to downtown Bath, Saturday farmers' market and restaurants... a 20 minute drive to some of Maine's most stunning beaches. Just 15 minutes to Brunswick, 20 minutes to Freeport and 45 minutes to downtown Portland.
A perfect base for college visits (Bates and Bowdoin), overnight travel breaks, or exploring the midcoast!

The space
The apartment is accessed through a private entrance on back porch in the back garden. Please see photos. There is an interior staircase to 2nd floor level, leading directly into the apartment.

The bedroom has a queen bed, the living room has a comfortable fold-out TWIN/SINGLE SOFA BED. Air conditioning in the bedroom only. Perfect for parents and son/daughter college visits!
PLEASE NOTE - This apartment is NOT suitable for children under 12!!!

Also, while the apartment is certainly NOT "open plan" (it is a sitting room, bedroom, kitchen and bath), the stairway opens into an area next to the bedroom; this area separates the sitting room from the bedroom. There is no bedroom door. *If you want complete privacy - and you are more than 2 guests - this arrangement is probably not ideal.* However, there is a large wooden shade that obscures the bed from being seen from the stairs or from the sitting room - and these are decidedly separate rooms! Please view photos carefully.
The kitchen offers toaster/coffee maker/microwave/electric kettle. The kitchen does NOT have a stove or oven, but we are fully stocked with serving pieces for breakfast or take-out meals.

Guests are welcome to use the rear garden/patio behind the house.

Guest access
Garden/patio at the very back of the house is available for guests' use. It has a table + 4 chairs. (Front larger garden is for homeowners' use only, please.)
Be aware that our Newfoundland may very occasionally (and only accidentally!) share this space with you - but rest assured that they will be inside the house if you are sitting in the back garden.
Smoking is strictly prohibited on the entire property.

Other things to note
!!! IMPORTANT!!! We have one very large breed dog - Wellie (7 yr old Newfoundland). You WILL hear him bark. **We do make every effort we possibly can to minimize noise/disturbance to our guests - but we cannot guarantee that he is quiet all of the time.** There are also dogs in almost all the surrounding houses in the neighborhood. Please keep this in mind when booking.

Our "NO PETS" policy is in place to ensure a peaceful stay for our guests - and a peaceful coexistence for all!! As there is already 1 large dog on the premises, and since the apartment shares the back porch with our own (main house) back exit/kitchen, we are concerned that another dog/animal will excite our dog and cause him to bark - not only when coming and going, but also just knowing/hearing that another animal is upstairs. This space has always been a "no pets zone" - even our own dogs have never been inside! While dog hair can inevitably be found in our part of the house, we do our best ensure that the Airbnb apartment is free from any evidence of pets whatsoever!

Also, the apartment is located at the back of our home. Occasional conversation, music or radio from our kitchen might be detected, but we do try to be as quiet and courteous as possible.

One last note: Please read the Guest Manual on arrival. It contains information relevant to your stay and important instructions for check out.

Waterfront Sunrise Cove Cottage
Bed & Breakfast

Unwind with spectacular sunrises from this sunny waterfront cottage on a tidal cove in the Kennebec River! 30 minutes to Popham Beach, this is the perfect home base for a midcoast Maine getaway.

The post-and-beam cottage has cozy furnishings and expansive views across a field, pond, and cove. Bald eagles and osprey soar overhead, sturgeon leap in the river & nights are full of stars.

Not recommended for those with mobility issues.

Owners live on property with small dog.

Best for 2 adults.

The space
This gorgeous post-and-beam cottage was renovated by Sarah's dad, who is an artist and woodworker.

It has a vaulted ceiling bedroom on the second floor with a queen-size bed facing large windows that provide expansive views across the property. Catch sunrise right from your bed! The bedroom also has a small desk, shelves full of books, and a cozy gas fireplace to nestle by.

The open-concept first floor is a bright, cheerful space that features a kitchenette (w/ microwave, toaster oven, refrigerator, coffee pot, countertop double-burner, and sink), a living room space with a full-size pull-out couch, and a small bathroom with shower.

There is a small patio outside the sliding glass doors, and guests also have full access to the yard.

Down by the water, there are benches and a fire pit to sit and relax by well into the evening. There is a small staircase down to the water, and guests are welcome to use the provided boogie boards to go swimming in the cove at high tide. Please note that as summer goes on, the marsh grass grows higher in the cove, but it can still be swum through into the river. Guests can also rent kayaks, canoes, or paddleboards from local shops, but we strongly recommend you first familiarize yourself with the pattern of the tides since the cove empties of water and the current in the river can be strong at times.

Other things to note
Our gravel driveway is steep and can be difficult to drive out of in icy/snowy weather without all wheel drive. It’s recommended that you use an all wheel drive vehicle when visiting in the colder months. We will clear the driveway and salt it early in the morning on snowy/icy days, and then again in the early evening, but this is an important thing to be aware of.
