- "Rented Riverwatch for an end of summer getaway for our family of 4. Was the perfect size for our family. The bedrooms were beautiful and cozy, the entire houses decor was perfect. We loved walking down to the dock to watch the sunset. It is a bit away from the center of things, but it was only about a 10 minute drive into town. The other thing was that I assumed Being on the water there would be a small beach nearby but there is no entry point to the water on that street. Had a bit of an issue getting into the property which was quickly addressed but would be helpful to add the lock instructions to the welcome email. We had a wonderful time exploring the area and can’t wait to return!!"

- "It had a very homey feel, was nice to stay at for the night and wasn’t far from town." - "Clean, quiet very nice " - "The room was too tiny for two people. It was nicely refurbished, but there was room for only one suitcase and we had to put it on the tiny table to open it. The ventilation was poor even with the AC unit—which had no instructions—so I had to get up and down 3 times during the night to turn it off and on. There were no cups (paperer otherwise) to use to get water or make tea in the microwave. "

Come away from it all....catch your breath.
Six miles from the bustle of Boothbay Harbor is a peaceful waterfront retreat, called Bold Colorful Life, set among rolling fields, meandering stone walls and richly colored perennial gardens........imagine a place that evokes your fondest memories....and brings your vacation dreams to bold colorful life....
The Bold Colorful Life estate consists of four New England-style buildings: Farmhouse and historic, 200 year-old Homer Jones barn; a centrally-located garden shed; a charming, renovated 1800s Cape and the Gallery Barn.
The Farmhouse combines new convenience with historical flavor, with exterior porches and dormers, and a new deck with fabulous river views, all surrounded by gardens.
Inside, the first floor holds a large, fully-equipped kitchen, dining area and Great Room, built and furnished with 200 year-old barn-boards and timbers. These rooms face the river, the sunsets and the pond. A cozy media room with current technology and a handicap-accessible King bedroom and bath face the courtyard. On the second floor are four additional bedrooms with private baths; two facing the courtyard, two facing the river, and a Gathering Room above the Great Room.
Wake to birdsong in the apple trees and early morning fog on the Back River....then make yourself delicious coffee and a hearty, healthy breakfast in the fully-equipped kitchen in the elegant Farmhouse.
Wander 15 acres of gardens and woodland trails....borrow a sit-on-top kayak to paddle with local seals....enjoy games, meet our friendly bald eagles and other critters.....watch the Maine painted turtles or listen to frogs on the freshwater pond......wander the park-like grounds.....enjoy our 'forest bathing' invitations on site...wander our Enchanted Trail and our Fairy Walk...take a cool dip or a sail on the river....
Refreshed, venture out into the Boothbay region to join a tour boat to see whales or puffins, or to go lobstering, shop, view our many art galleries, try some local restaurants and generally have a memorable visit. The Coastal Maine Botanical Garden is only 4 miles away! So is the world-class Boothbay Harbor Country Club golf course! Or try hiking at any of the 13 preserves within 10 miles of this home.
At the end of the day, imagine coming ‘home’ to a snack and drink on the front or new back deck....a good book in the hammock.....a sunset through the windows....and a long, delicious sleep in one of your five lovely bedrooms with four private baths, colorful bedding, paddle fans, cable TV, WiFli.
Or come home to a peaceful evening in one of your five charming bedrooms with four private baths, colorful bedding, paddle fans, cable TV, WiFli....in the Cape house across the courtyard. Listing# 325241.
Renewed again, live your bold and colorful life! Both buildings (the charming historic Cape #325241and the elegant Farmhouse #229721) are available year-round.
It's the perfect destination for a personal retreat, family or school reunion, wedding or other gathering event.
- "Melissa is a superb host and took the time to walk us through everything about the house and the area. Great spot with beautiful views and the great room is truly a great place for everyone to gather. It also helped that the weather cooperated for almost the entire week. Highly recommend." - "My father , who will be 90 soon, grew up visiting his cousins in Maine. He wanted the whole family to go again and stay in one big house! There were 12 of us and one, my mother, is physically disabled and can’t do stairs. This house worked perfectly for us! There was a handicapped accessible bedroom and bathroom on the first floor and lots of space to gather in. We were able to have all 12 people eat meals together at the huge dining table. The grounds are beautiful and there are several kayaks you can borrow. There is a view of the river from the back deck and we saw deer and a groundhog out back! It is very peaceful and secluded, but still not far from town. Melissa was great to work with and very communicative! We would definitely stay there again!"

- "Really comfy little dome house with wonderful acoustics for guitar playing!" - "The house was so charming, clean, and comfortable. We couldn’t have found a better place to stay during our visit to the Boothbay area. The Dome House is off the beaten track, right on a tidal river, which made every day and every hour a new private view. Be sure to schedule time to simply be. This is the perfect house for it!" - "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this unique home. Nestled at the end of a dirt road, it was a perfect setting to relax and unwind. The house was quite comfortable and charming filled with the owner’s beautiful artwork. We had dinner at Water Street Kitchen and Bar in Wiscasset (known as the prettiest village in Maine) and highly recommend it. The food was excellent with atmosphere to match. Boothbay Harbor is a fun walkable town with something for everyone. We took a drive to Ocean Point and on our way back grabbed a couple lobster rolls at Ocean Point Marina, then headed back to the Dome home to enjoy on the deck overlooking the water. We were lucky to have perfect weather for it. Breakfast the next morning at East Boothbay General Store was delicious…egg sandwiches, homemade donuts, muffins and breads. Just a short walk away is Kerr + Jones Fine Art & Craft. I wanted everything in there! And don’t miss Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens where you can see giant trolls by artist Thomas Dambo. Thanks for sharing your little piece of paradise 😊"

- "My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this house for its ocean coves throughout, many porches and areas to relax and comfortable beds. Use of the provided kayaks enabled us to explore the bay, and being so close to all the area has to offer was wonderful; we appreciated the quiet neighborhood- the only sounds were birds, morning lobster boats and buoy bells, each of which added to the quaint, sea ambiance." - "Perfect place to wind down after a challenging year! Needed to get visiting family out of central Maine and show them the beautiful Midcoast. We chose this area for the many activities (aquarium, gardens, trails, etc.) but the house and its location were so beautiful we settled for hanging out on the porch and kayaking with the harbor seals. - "We just need a place to stay for a quick visit to Boothbay and this little cabin was absolutely lovely. We were quite comfortable and very close to Boothbay Harbor as well as the Botanical Gardens. We were quite charmed and would certainly recommend and stay again." - "Clean, well-appointed property close to Boothbay Harbor and botanical gardens. Beds were extremely comfortable!" - "This was the perfect property for our family to stay while in Boothbay! The house was very clean, new, and the owners have thought of many details to make their guests' trip wonderful. It was stocked with many things that homeowners of rentals might not think of, such as extra paper towels, spices, condiments, a hamper, plenty of towels (so guests don't need to do laundry daily), nightlights (which my kids appreciated), sandwich bags (helpful for a picnic), and more! They also had extra eggs from chickens at their own home and left us a dozen, which we used to make egg salad sandwiches for the road. There were a few games and corn hole, which we enjoyed as well. The property is close to everything but located in a private, quiet area, which we always look for to have some quiet down time. Weston's communication was excellent and he also responded right away when I had a question. Also, the owners have made thoughtful decisions that maximize the usage of the space. For instance, the coffee table converts into an elevated table for dining. The mirror in the bathroom is also a cabinet, providing storage space. We highly recommend this property and will likely be back ourselves!"

In the evening, grab one of the movie-theater-style reclining seats, get the floor-to-ceiling gas fireplace going, and host a family movie night in the living room. More entertainment options include a wet bar complete with a retro mini-fridge and popcorn machine, free high-speed WiFi, cable, five streaming-capable TVs, board games, a pool table, and an air hockey table. At the end of the night, tuck the kids into one of the fun bunk rooms and have one last soak in the hot tub - another perfect vacation day awaits tomorrow.

- "For a week in July 2023, we enjoyed a family reunion at this beautiful coastal home in a private, wooded setting. Our family consists of five different family units, including two older adults, our four grown children and their spouses, and three grandchildren, including an 8-year-old, 2-year-old, and a 9-month old baby. There was plenty of room to spend time together as well as ample private space for each family. The water view is lovely, and the house itself is not only roomy but also includes numerous amenities and recreational opportunities that the owners generously share with guests. These include a fully equipped and spacious kitchen, an amazing master suite, three full bathrooms, a large TV with theater seats, and a fireplace. The bedrooms are spacious, with large and comfortable beds and two built-in bunk areas for the kids. Outside, there is a large deck with an extendible awning, seating, and big family table, plus a propane pizza oven and grill. In the basement is a rec room with a bar and stools, a classic popcorn machine (supplied with popcorn kits), a sauna, pool table, and air hockey. Outside are a fire pit with plenty of chairs, a hot tub, plus multiple kayaks and a paddle board with life jackets. Just a one- or two-minute stroll away is a small beach that offers a swimming dock, a place to launch kayaks, a wading area, and rocks to climb on. We were all quite blown away by this spacious and welcoming home."

- "I already submitted that the location needs to be clearly specified as in Boothbay, not Boothbay Harbor, as there are two streets with the same name, and this one did not appear on Google maps." - "Nice quiet week in small simple cabin with access to the lake and short drive to restaurants and activities." - "This cabin is a good place if you are looking for a simple place to stay. It is very small. Had just the essentials. There is a community place for kayak and canoe's. I thought from the ad it was just for this cabin. I did call Vacsa and they explained to share with community. It needs better couch, recliner. It could be so cute with lakeside cabin decor. canoes, loons, wall signs. instead of cows, chickens. Again neighbors kept to them selves. I was suprised that there was main road behind the cabin looks like it's in the woods. so you could hear traffic if you are a light sleeper."
