Guest Reviews:

- "We loved staying here. Our dog came with us and he is neurotic about hard wood floors. With a couple of rugs that we brought he was right at home. We enjoyed the quiet neighborhood as well as how close the town and trails were. Marcia had a binder full of things to do nearby as well as a notebook containing information from previous tenants. This really helped us plan our days and learn the area. We felt right at home and have even considered making Maine our yearly destination if not our residence in the future."

- "Beau Sejour exceeded all of our expectations! The online pictures are beautiful, but simply don't do the property justice. The views from the home and the home itself are truly amazing. We especially enjoyed coffee and reading on the back porch, breakfast in the screened in porch, lobsters on the picnic table and the outdoor showers after kayaking. You can tell Fran and Olivia put an exceptional amount of time and thought into making your stay memorable and comfortable. The personal touches of fresh flowers along with notes and welcome gifts made the house feel like a home away from home. The home was exceptionally clean and was very accessible to many local activities. Olivia was an outstanding host and communicated very timely. The A/C worked fine, and the host put together a basket of beach towels and other items ready to take to the beach. The shower was a little small, but it all worked out well. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK THIS LISTING if you are afraid of nature or its creatures. Understand you are surrounded by thousands of completely untouched nature. You are very likely to hear (or see) coyotes, owls, and bunnies.

The space
I do just want to mention that our house is in rural Maine, and hosts all the wilds have to offer. You may have glimpses of moose and mouse, frogs and flies; by the nature of living here, we play host to them all. In the interest of full disclosure, I want you to know so that you are aware that critters are here in our area and sometimes in our living spaces. Just about everyone has embraced them so far but, some who have not ventured in the woods before have become surprised to see a mouse that made them uncomfortable to be around. Please be the judge on this for your own creature's comfort!

The space
I do just want to mention that our house is in Maine, and hosts all the wilds have to offer. You may have glimpses of moose and mouse, ants, frogs and flies; by the nature of living here we play host to them all. In the interest of full disclosure, I want you to know so that you are aware that critters are here in our area and sometimes in our living spaces. Just about everyone has embraced them so far but some who have not ventured in the woods before have become surprised to see a mouse which made them uncomfortable to be around. Please be the judge on this for your own creature comfort!

Please be aware: We strongly believe honesty is the main key in this business. Our listing is not a 5 starts Four Seasons Hotel, we offer an affordable unit in rural Maine, if you are not able to understand this we encourage you to not book this listing.

What we have in the listing is what we can offer, any item not in the unit we do not offer and therefor needs to be outsourced by the guest.

Chase Reserve (0.4 miles)

Chase Reserve is a 194-acre easement property on Bunganuc Road in Brunswick. Protected in 2011, the property has extensive shore frontage on ecologically significant Maquoit Bay, including valuable intertidal land. Part of the largest unfragmented forest block along the coast in Cumberland County, Chase Reserve’s diverse mix of managed forest, late successional white pine and hemlock stands, and vernal pools make it a great place to see wildlife. A mile-long trail provides access to upland portions of the property. A small parking area is located west of the road adjacent to the Brunswick/Freeport town boundary. The trail leads to the rear of the property and can be used to access trails on adjacent conserved land in Freeport.

Wolf’s Neck State Park (6 miles)

The park contains varied ecosystems, including climax white pine and hemlock forests, a salt marsh estuary, and the rocky shorelines on Casco Bays and the Harraseeket River. The park's signature residents are the ospreys who nest on nearby Googins Island.
The popular Casco Bay Trail carries visitors along Maine's legendary coast to a point where the surrounding islands of Eagle, Cousins and others are described on an interpretive panel.

Bradbury Mountain State Park (11.5 miles)

Bradbury Mountain is proudly open all-year, from 9am till sunset (unless otherwise posted).
It’s wonderful place to spend a day or afternoon exploring trails, taking in the magnificent view from the summit, or enjoying a picnic under a canopy of trees. One of the original five state parks, Bradbury Mountain was acquired by the Federal government in 1939.

Camden Hill State Park (61 miles)

Camden Hills State Park signature location is the scenic vista high atop Mt. Battie where sweeping views of Camden, Penobscot Bay, and surrounding islands await. On a clear day, visitors can see Cadillac Mountain at Acadia National Park. Renowned for the panoramic view of Camden Harbor and Penobscot Bay from the top of Mt. Battie, which inspired Edna St. Vincent Millay's poem "Renascence," the park still inspires wonder in visitors today. Mt. Megunticook, the highest of the Camden Hills - and highest peak on the mainland - is a moderate climb by foot trail. Other hiking opportunities abound and are well-mapped. One of the advantages of residing in the mid-coast region of Maine is the easy accessibility to the coastline. For a respite from the urban environment, a day trip to Brunswick, Maine, offers numerous benefits.

Brunswick, a college town home to Bowdoin College, one of Maine’s prestigious “Ivies,” retains its charming small-town atmosphere despite its growing population. The historic campus features notable homes and intriguing museums. Once a hub for affluent shipbuilders, Brunswick has preserved its New England ambiance. The vibrant downtown district boasts a diverse array of lively cafes and unique shops, while the arts and entertainment offerings are impressive for a community of its size.

Regardless of the route you choose to reach Brunswick, you will likely encounter the bustling Route 1. While the commercial atmosphere may initially deter you, we recommend venturing off into the side streets.

To commence your day, we suggest strolling the campus of Bowdoin College and exploring some of its notable museums and historic homes.

After immersing yourself in art and history, meander downtown to Maine Street, where window shopping is a cherished pastime. Perhaps you are inclined to indulge in a scoop of gelato at Gelato Fiasco or a frosty craft beer at Moderation Brewing Company. For those seeking antiques, Cabot Mills Antiques presents an extensive collection of period pieces and vintage finds.

Brunswick extends beyond its association with Bowdoin College. For those seeking an outdoor adventure, Master Maine Guide, Alice Bean Andrenyak, offers guided canoe or kayak trips, bird and wildlife watching, and mindful forest bathing experiences. Anglers can also join the Maine Bass Fishing Guide Service for the opportunity to catch smallmouth bass in one of Maine’s picturesque lakes or rivers. This excursion caters to anglers of all skill levels and abilities.

For a more relaxed adventure, consider visiting the Hamilton Audubon Sanctuary in the nearby town of West Bath. Stroll along the 2.5-mile trail network, immersing yourself in the natural environment of ospreys and shorebirds. This tranquil sanctuary offers an ideal setting for several hours of peaceful exploration on foot. During the colder months, cross-country skiing or snowshoeing are available on the premises.

Alternatively, the Androscoggin Bicycle and Pedestrian Path presents a viable option for both foot and bicycle enthusiasts. This paved 2.5-mile path traverses the Androscoggin River, featuring two lanes: one designated for pedestrians and the other for cyclists. Several stone benches strategically placed along the path encourage respite and provide panoramic views.

For golf enthusiasts, the Brunswick Golf Club presents an exceptional experience. Renowned for its rich golfing history and its status as the “hub of golf in Maine,” this hometown course boasts challenging holes and immaculate greens. With 18 championship holes and tree-lined fairways, a day spent on the links in Brunswick promises to be a rejuvenating and memorable experience.

For seafood aficionados, a detour to Route 123 leads to the charming town of Harpswell. Here, the Dolphin Marina and Restaurant offers a delectable dining experience, perched at the peninsula’s tip, overlooking Pott’s Harbor and Casco Bay. The chowdah is renowned for its exceptional quality, as is the blackened haddock sandwich. While our recommendations are valuable, we encourage you to savor these culinary delights firsthand. The breathtaking views and the well-worthwhile drive make this destination an unforgettable experience.

Glorious Converted 1865 Brunswick Barn in Town!
House
Brunswick

Welcome back to our return guests and to new guests: prepare to be delighted!

"Brunswick Beata" is located steps from Bowdoin, restaurants, movies, public transportation & the town green. This colorful, unique and spotless gem is an extraordinarily comfortable and inspired place to stay while in Brunswick & surrounding area! Welcome!

The space
Our space is unique because of its prime location in town, yet quiet and private, and the brand new & renovated barn, originally designed & decorated in exquisite taste, make this an experience to remember.

Guest access
The whole barn apartment, (1000 sq. ft. divided on two levels with "open" floor plan solution. Lots of light and air) and its private entrance, is for you only, and our lovely garden and patio with many places to lounge is for your enjoyment too!

Other things to note
You will access the barn apartment and your private entrance by walking through our yard past the main house. The garden and patio are shared spaces for guests and hosts. You are free to enjoy the grounds but we ask that you respect the calm and serene surroundings we strive to create here. Pick yummy cherry tomatoes off the vine, find a strawberry to enjoy or lounge in the chaise long. It's all there for your pleasure. If you visit in cooler seasons, we have generous sheepskins, blankets and candle lanterns to put out on the chairs to keep you warm and cozy.

We also provide a wireless printer in our work space area and excellent wifi speed.

Are you more than 2 people? Please note that the space can accommodate 1 extra person—adult or child—with a comfy twin floor mattress and half bath on the first floor, but that this living area is not separated from the upstairs bedroom area with a door, just stairs. This may make it work for some (like a family with a child) but not for 3 adults who prefer privacy. There is a $30 per night extra fee for the third person.

We provide coffee, tea and some breakfast items and snacks to welcome you, and you will find everything (and more!) of what you'll need of cooking essentials.

Please also note that there is a TV with a wifi TV box so you can access Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, HBO, etc., but no regular cable TV.

There is ample space for your things, with both hanging, shelf and drawer space, as well as luggage racks and storage closets. We are neat and organized and the space is not cluttered. We want our guests to feel at home and comfortable, with plenty of room to spread out.
