So unprofessional and so "Terrible" is the review since we never had the "joy" of a happy birthday celebration. We enjoyed having a comfortable and homey place to come back to after a day of adventures! I would highly recommend everyone to stay here! We love coming back each year!" - "We could tell it was a small space, and my spouse is 6'2". I was a little worried it would feel tight and cramped. Not so! It was truly cozy and comfortable-- perfect for 2 people. And it is decorated with care and an eye to detail. The lovely quilts were mDe by the owner. It was a great spot for roaming and such a short drive to town without needing to be in the noise and confusion of a tourist town when we were trying to escape that by going on vacation. We highly recommend this location. I baked a coffee cake in the toaster oven and was amazed at how well stocked the kitchen is. I had brought a number of items with me an didn’t need anything! Situated just a few blocks from the best Belfast had to offer, Heron House is an eclectic mid-1800s home with plenty of charm and character. Walk to summer concerts, the farmers market, and quaint shops and restaurants.
- "This was a great spot – right in downtown Belfast as advertised. I walked around town most every day. Very conventient. The house had everything I needed – cookware, towels, fans to keep cool, decent wifi, etc. This is an old house with a funky plan. There are 2 bedrooms upstairs. But to get to one of the bedrooms you either have to walk through the other bedroom _or_ the only bathroom. No prob for me, but might be awkward for large groups. The kitchen was well equipped, but there’s about a yard of counter space. I’m glad I wasn’t preparing many big meals :) But overall it was great! Clean, everything as advertised. I really enjoyed my stay."

- "Our family of five loved staying at The Colby House for a retreat in Belfast. We’re midwesterners who frequent Belfast and especially loved the comfortable beds, stylish decor, pristine kitchen and bathrooms and the relaxing outdoor area to kick back. We love doing day trips around Midcoast Maine but found ourselves retreating to the cabin for relaxing afternoons in the hot tub. Perfect for cool and foggy Maine days! We’ll be back! "

Take it easy at this unique & tranquil oasis. Enjoy the gardens & wooded trails or use as a base for nearby attractions & coastal towns. This peaceful stream-side cottage is just 4 miles from Belfast with its “groovy” energy, dining, schooner trips, park events, fishing trips and hiking trails on the ocean! Borrow my bikes for a ride on the rail trail or go for a swim in the stream behind the cottage. Enjoy the Camden Hills or take in Rockland's galleries & museums. It's only 1 hr. to Acadia!
The space
The cottage is cozy and comfortable. Surrounding the cottage are lush gardens with trails through the woods on 33 acres. The cottage is well appointed with a full kitchen and everything you will need to cook. If there is anything that you may need that I might have forgotten to include, please let me know. I am right next door and friendly.
An important feature to note is that the loft bedroom is accessed by staircase with a crawl-in doorway that leads to a full-height ceiling loft. The bed is queen sized and very comfortable. It is a sweet space up there with lots of windows. The stream is below and will lull you to sleep. There are sensor lights to light your way to the bathroom at night. The access to the loft is important to consider if you are very large or inflexible. However, there is the couch downstairs that flattens out to be a twin bed that is also an option.
Outside there is an open picnic area, trails and a swimming hole at the stream.
I have not installed the key code lock yet so prior arrangements are made via text for the key pick up. This is a very safe neighborhood.
