THE SPACE

Welcome to "Bewitching Salem Suite"

Your temporary "home away from home" is a charming, historic 3-story townhome, built circa 1897. Fabulous location just off Salem Common, bordering the historic district, 3 houses up from a small neighborhood beach & walking path & a short stroll to everything that makes Salem fun.

Cozy, clean and bright w/21 (!) windows and all wood floors. I like to think it's got a "homey" vibe while still being fresh & uncluttered.

I'm a frustrated interior designer at heart (my not-so-secret dream is to have my own HGTV show) and had a lot of fun furnishing the home with repurposed antiques and other fun pieces to create a welcoming & comfortable guest suite.

THE LAYOUT:

1st FLOOR (shared space when owner is in town): LR/ Kitchen

2nd FLOOR: Large Bath w/Tub (shared), Owner's Bedroom

3rd FLOOR: Your guest space is on its own floor, which makes it very private. As you climb up the stairs to the 3rd floor, you'll enter directly into a little bedroom I like to call "The Library" (no door at the top of stairs.) This is one of my favorite spots in the house: a cozy mahogany daybed under two windows that overlook historic Salem rooftops- the perfect spot to curl up with a cup of tea and a good book.

From this room, there are french doors leading into the spacious adjoining master with an extremely comfortable queen-sized aerobed bed (mattress w/adjustable firmness) 3" therapedic topper & high-quality linens) a large executive desk with excellent WIFI, romantic faux fireplace w/remote, & 6 windows (one w/a peek of the water.)

The space you will be occupying is technically ONE bedroom (but is divided into 2 adjoining rooms - each of which has a bed in it) .

This is a true home away from home, and you will have access to everything with the exception of owner's room.

Your suite is on the 3rd floor. The 2nd floor bath and 1st floor common areas are shared with your hostess. You will have a dedicated private medicine cabinet and large storage cabinet for your toiletries in the bathroom.

Full kitchen use with all pots/pans/supplies provided (please avoid bringing products containing pork or shellfish into the house.)

Plenty of easy, free street parking available.

During your stay
I truly enjoy hosting. Happy to socialize or to give you your space- your choice.

Other things to note
Since this is a longer-term situation and I reside in the home, some communication is required to establish compatibility before booking. References as well as a copy of your Driver's License may be requested and depending on length of stay, you may be asked to sign a rental agreement.

Guests are welcome to watch the large flat screen TV in the living room (I have a Roku player w/tons of free programming & movies) or stream from your own laptop upstairs (there is no tv on the 3rd floor).

Your space is quite private as it's on its own floor. There is no door from the 3rd floor landing into the small bedroom. French doors separate the small bedroom into the large master.

Located 1.2 miles from all the fun in downtown Salem on a small peninsula surrounded on three sides by water. Harbor is across the street. Family restaurant, Roast beef fast food place, across the street. Coffee shop, liquor store and mini mart one street over, Recreational Dispensary across the street. Quiet neighborhood on a small dead end street. Public on street parking or in driveway.

Alchemist’s Library where you can read the Paper, Chat, play games or have Breakfast with a 24 hour coffee and tea bar. Garden (in season).

During your stay
I live on the first floor in a private wing but always available for sight seeing or eating suggestions as well as any other needs.

Other things to note
Quiet hours must be followed 10pm-10pm. No idling of cars in the street. No loud conversations outside. If these rules are not followed you will be asked to leave the premises and not refunded.

No candles, incense, smudging or fire of ANY kind. Our house is wood and was built in 1846. We do not have a sprinkler system.

No weapons of any kind are allowed inside the inn, our home.

For the comfort of our other guests, no children under the age of 5 years.

No drink coolers with ice. No cases of beer. Alcohol consumption should be kept to a bottle of wine, a fifth of bourbon or a six pack of beer. We have a guest fridge in the dinning room for your convenience.

If you need to cancel, we offer a refund of your deposit, minus a $25 cancellation fee (per room) up to one week before your first night’s reservation (except for reservations for the month of October*). If you cancel within the final week, you will lose your deposit. Early departures are considered cancellations and the cancellation policy applies. *If you cancel your October reservation AFTER August 31, you will lose the ENTIRE amount of your stay, not just the deposit. We advise you buy travel insurance.

We offer free parking. We have 2 spots next to the inn and 4 spots in the City Of Salem Parking Garage, one block from the inn. We will provide one spot per room only. If you arrive in 2 cars, you are responsible for any fees associated with parking the 2nd vehicle. During Halloween, spaces may become limited in the parking garage. We do not guarantee you a spot, but in most cases, it’s not an issue.

If you arrive early or wish to stay in Salem after check-out, parking in the Museum Place Garage is $0.75/hour and in the Harbor Garage, it's only $0.25/hour.
This being an old house, there is no elevator. None of our guestrooms are located on the ground floor.

Insurance: We highly recommend that you secure some travel insurance just in case of an emergency or if your reservation needs to be cancelled due to inclement weather such as hurricanes and blizzards. We are not responsible for cancellations due to bad weather.

This charming retreat, housed in a historic residence in the exclusive Salem Willows neighborhood, is the perfect place to unwind and take in the sights and sounds of the seaside. While still close enough to downtown Salem to enjoy all the witchy ambiance the city offers, your home-away-from-home provides the perfect balance of seclusion and accessibility. Get downtown in minutes with convenient access to the seasonal Salem Trolley (Salem Willows stop) or bike rentals (bike station: T32002, Salem Willows Park).

The entire first-floor apartment has five windows with views of the ocean. The unit is completely separate from the main house, and two entrances are secured with locks.

Other things to note
The kitchen and bathroom in this apartment were recently updated, ensuring you'll have all the comforts of home. Even if you decide to dine out at one of the many fantastic restaurants, pubs, or cafes in the area, you'll still have a cozy space to return to (we highly recommend coffee and wine on the private terrace!).

Massachusetts Route 1A, Massachusetts Route 128, and U.S. Route 1 are close by, or you can take the MBTA's Newburyport/Rockport Line from Salem station and make it into the city in a half hour. Based on traffic, Logan Airport is between 40 minutes and an hour away.

You can stroll to Winter Island, Juniper Beach, and the seasonal Salem Willows Arcade or visit the Peabody Essex Museum and the Salem Witch Trials Museum to delve deeper into the city's rich history.

Is the place haunted? Paranormal activity is not guaranteed, but the house's age (123 years old), the area's rich history, and the eerie fog over the Atlantic Ocean create the potential for an intriguing experience.

The second-floor, cozy three-room apartment in my home is located steps away from all the historic and cultural attractions you will want to experience and enjoy in the "Witch City." Whether it is the world-class Peabody-Essex Museum, a trendy witch shop, lunch at so many fine restaurants and cafes, strolling along historic Derby Street, taking the Boston/Salem ferry, or just relaxing...you will have a wonderful time here!

These three large sunny bedrooms and large family room are located on the second floor of our home. We are in a beautiful quiet neighborhood just a short walk to downtown and all of Salem's restaurants and wonderful attractions. We have plenty of free parking (which can be a challenge in Salem). Coffee and juice as well as a variety of snacks are provided.

The space
While you will enter through our front door, you will have the entire private second floor with a full bath and family room to yourself. While there is not a full kitchen, we offer a small refrigerator stocked with water, juice and yogurts. Oe offer coffee and breakfast snacks to help start your day.

You enter through the front door which leads directly to the upstairs suite. It is very private, but we are open to interaction as well.

We have 2 great cats! Mama (Ally) and her kitten (Paisley). Our home was built in 1915, and while it is not in the historic district, we love the details that this house offers.

Our home is on a private residential street at the end of a dead-end road and abuts Forest River Park - a beautiful park with ocean access, walking trails, fields, playground, etc. We are approx 1.3 miles walk to the beginning of Salems Downtown area which is very walkable. Pickering Wharf, Essex Street, and all area attractions are right down the street! We are also super close to Marblehead (right across the bay!) and Swampscott. Both awesome quaint seaside towns to explore in addition to Salem.

We do have cameras on the exterior of the property only including doorbell cameras and floodlight cameras on all entrances and other cameras covering most of the exterior of the property and yard. There are no indoor cameras.

The space
Silsbee's is operated by the Daniels House Inn and was once the barn for the Silsbee/Daniels family, it was converted to a home in 1843 and has just undergone a complete restoration that highlights Salem's 19th century voyages to China and the 'far east'.

Featuring original wide-pine floors, exposed beams, victorian furnishings/decor and original brick fireplaces.
Centrally located and within walking distance of historic sites/attractions, restaurants, the ocean, bars/pubs and live music.

Guest access
Guests will come into a common front door and enter into the Silsbee's suite located on the first floor of the home. This suite includes a newly renovated kitchen with marble counter tops, high end appliances, fully stocked with everything you will need to cook and entertain, you will have a living room with 43 in smart tv and pull out sofa bed , bathroom with tub/shower and a bedroom featuring a four poster queen bed. Hand picked victorian furnishings including wallpapers, brass light fixtures and velvet curtains. The entire first floor is yours as you relax after a long day of walking around the historic district of Salem. This suite also features a private gated back yard with outdoor dining table, perfect to relax after a long day or have a cup of coffee in the morning.

During your stay
Silsbee's uses a guest portal to communicate with guests and you will be sent all the information necessary for your stay including a unique door code for your access, parking instructions, house rules, discounted tickets for local attractions. We have staff next door at The Daniels House in the case that you need anything or have questions but you will have a private suite taking up the entire first floor of the home with plenty of privacy.

Other things to note
Breakfast is served in the Daniels House dining room c1667 located just next door. You will be given a door code to enter the front door and instructions before your check-in.


We use a guest portal with a pre check-in process. You will be asked to upload a copy of your ID and answer some questions that we need to verify as per our policies and stated as rules to the lodging license issued by the town. Once the pre check-in process is complete, you will have access to our guest portal until after your stay. In the portal, you will find all the information you will need for your self check-in and stay including house rules, parking, discounted museum vouchers, early check-in requests (for an additional fee), celebration packages, tea service to your room and additional info about the Inn and Salem.
