The rooms were rustic but beautiful and very clean. We had access to the kitchen, dining, livingroom area of the lodge for morning tea and coffee. Fully appointed kitchen that we did not really use. The stone terrace outside was superb. This was one of the best travel experiences I’ve had in a long time. Can’t wait to go back. "

Cabin on 45 acres part of which is an active Christmas Tree Farm and the rest is wooded mountain. The property is bucolic, featuring an old barn, seasonal mountain stream and pond. Beautiful views of the Green Mountains. There is a fire pit w. plenty of wood and tongs for roasting marshmallows. Ideal for hiking, snowshoeing then relaxing by cozy new wood stove in the great room. Or relax in one of the hammocks listening to the creek meander by.
A new covered rear porch has a swing and great views of the pond , trees and mountain .
A short ride to Quaint Old Bennington and Charming Manchester. Antique stores, premium outlets, museums and skiing all within a short drive.
Please note that this is an active Christmas Tree Farm so there may be a farmer or two tending the trees and animals while you are there- but you probably won't even notice them. #MountMeMo
- "My husband and I decided that we just wanted to go on a vacation where we could disconnect and do some writing every day. So we picked Vermont and to stay on this farm, and it was a nice vibe! We enjoyed watching the chickens and goats. The house itself felt pretty spacious. It was hot (went early July), but we mostly wrote in the morning, and decided to leave the house most afternoons to go to nearby Bennington or other small-town attractions, so we avoided the worst of the humidity and heat most days (there's only one window unit air conditioner in the downstairs bedroom). We had trouble with the washer, but it wasn't a big deal, and Susan helped us resolve the issue during our stay. Enjoyed falling asleep to the sounds of the small waterfall feeding the pond in the backyard at night. Overall, it's good if you want an escape from any hustle and bustle."

Our cabin is on 11 acres, and we have only one neighbor in the summer only. The cabin is on the side of a private mountain at 1300 feet elevation so there is an entire mountain to hike or snowshoe(all sizes available for your use). Our porch overlooks a brook that passes right by the house. Because it is remote, cell phone service is spotty at the cabin, but you can use WIFI calling or the land line, we stream TV and have a ROKU and smart TV if you have Netflix/Amazon Prime/HULU etc. subscriptions. WiFi is good unless you are streaming and on phones and computers at the same time. There are sleds , snow shoes and snow tubes as well.
The Cabin is 10 minutes from Great Sugar Houses (Maple Syrup Weekend end of March), and Artisan and Dairy Farms (There is a Vermont cheese weekend and the dairy farms give tours). In 20 minutes you can get to Manchester (18 miles), Bromley Mountain is 25 miles, The Norman Rockwell Homestead in Arlington and another terrific general store are about 15-20 minutes away. In Dorset there is a great marble quarry for swimming; about 15-20 minutes.
Saratoga Springs is about 35-40 miles and the drive is not bad if you want to see the horse races or go to the mineral baths.
There are all types of board games and a pool table in the lower level. There is also a laundry room in the lower Level.
The kitchen is fully applianced right down to coffee grinder and garlic press.
Bedroom on the main level has a queen bed, the Lower Level bedroom has two twins and the upstairs bedrooms have 4 twins in each but comfortably sleep two adults in each. Because we are on the side of a mountain, the lower level is a walk out and bedroom has a window.
Our driveway is long and steep, so we recommend an AWD vehicle in the winter months.
We are sure you will enjoy the cabin as much as we do.

- "A wonderful cabin, peaceful and relaxing" - "Steven , the cabin and property were all great. We learned a lot about the region on this trip. If not from around the area do some research for the area. Map/atlas would be useful. The phone service for trying to do anything spontaneous on the move including eating out was frustrating." - "So enjoyed our stay at the cabin. The screened in porch was very relaxing. The cabin was stocked with everything we needed & the beds were very comfortable .The location is great for visits to NY & beautiful small towns in Vermont."

- "We spent our Xmas week at this Dorset gem and loved every minute. The owners were very nice and supportive. They even had a 10 Ft. Christmas tree for us to enjoy. Kitchen is huge, has wonderful appliances and tons of utensils etc. Property is secluded and peaceful. We highly recommend this home." - "Our stay at the Headwaters in Dorset Hollow couldn’t have been better! The home is beautiful and situated on a wonderful, private, secluded location at the base of Dorsey Mountain. The hosts (Brad, Esther, and Ira) were tremendously gracious and accommodating, helping us to add our dog to our trip when I forgot to add him initially. They were also excellent communicators, sharing their wealth of local knowledge so we had a wide variety of activities to choose from during our stay. I’ve been a regular visitor to VT for 25 years but this was my wife and kids’ first visit and they loved every second! From hiking Dorset Mountain, swimming at the quarry, bluegrass festival at Hunter Park, outstanding dining and shops Dorset and nearby Manchester, day trips to Killington, and evenings by the fire, this vacation had it all. Highly recommend staying here at Headwaters or any of Brad, Esther, and Ira’s properties."

- "We loved our stay in this gorgeous cabin. The pictures don’t do it justice. The interior is really pretty. The loft was very roomy, and the kitchen was big enough for us to comfortably cook all our meals. My favorite spot was the deck." - "Great location, lovely clean home. My only suggestion is that it would be nice to have a place to put clothing rather than living out of a suitcase for a week. Owner very responsive and left clear instructions for everything. "

This cabin in southwest VT, is privately situated in a serene rural setting. It can accommodate up to 10 guests in 5 bedrooms. There are queen beds in 4 of the bedrooms and 2 twin beds in the 5th one. Amenities include a large living area on the main floor with plenty of room for a houseful of guests. There’s also a separate den area on the ground level, which is about half the size of the main living room. It's a cozy place that comfortably seats 4 guests to sneak away to watch a game or movie, or to sneak away and curl up to read a book. The kitchen is fully stocked, with gas range, dishwasher, microwave & fridge/freezer. It is well stocked with an abundance of cook- & dish-ware. You'll probably see deer, wild turkey and an abundance of song birds during your stay, possibly even an owl, fox, porcupine, or black bear….the last 4 are rare, but know, they're definitely around. There are hiking trails behind house, allowing for hours of time to explore the woods. The dirt road is great for quiet country walks. Plus, there numerous other area activities to enjoy during your visit.
- "Beautiful setting, rustic wood paneling, great kitchen, fine touches all around. Loved the deck, great view of the mountains, sunsets." - "The best supplied/appointed property I have rented; it's got everything! Somewhat remote which provided a quiet privacy. Animal sightings & beautiful sunsets from the porch. Plenty of room to spread out. Bedrooms are large with dressers & closets. Plenty of hot water for 10 of us. Cell service can be spotty, but you can go through the Wi-Fi. Grocery shopping is 30 minutes away, so stock up. Owner is very conscientious & responsive. Highly recommend."

It really made our trip comfortable and cozy. We got 36 inches of snow while we were there but were not snowed in at all. The owners made sure that we were plowed out and checked in regularly to see if we needed anything. We enjoyed a lot of family time together playing in the snow. The well equipped kitchen let us make cozy meals at home together and we were still able to get out for meals in town as well. We highly recommend this cabin in the woods!"

With two bedrooms and one bonus loft, guests can enjoy the comforts of our cozy cabin, including a full kitchen, bathroom, outdoor shower, HOT TUB, fire pit, WiFi and FREE EV CHARGING.
The entire cabin, which originally dates to 1934, was totally remodeled in the summer of 2020, and it strikes the perfect balance between “old” and “new”.
Between our carefully selected furnishings and the cozy appeal of old wood floors, we think you will sink in and never want to leave! The Owls Nest is fully modernized, so comfortable and holds all the rustic charm of a bygone era. Relax, listen to vinyl records while the fire crackles, and let the stress melt away.
- "We had such a great stay at the Owl's Nest- the cabin is amazing; so bright, cheery, comfy, and cozy. The cabin has so many great touches; from the cool artwork, and the record collection, to the loft and the outdoor shower! We also love this area and had a great time hiking, swimming, and exploring." - "We absolutely loved our stay at the Owl's Nest! The location was great. It was under a 35 minute drive to Stratton, passing Bromley on the way. The owners do note but maybe don't emphasize enough the need for all wheel drive/4WD in the winter. The long hilly driveway did get plowed but not sand or salt. The cabin was warm & cozy with comfy beds and an amazing shower. We made fires, streamed movies (on tv in living room, no wifi issues) listened to records (& sonos), made popcorn, cooked dinners in the roomy kitchen and hiked the trail behind the house. Don't miss stopping at the charming JJ Hapgood General Store for coffee/pastries, sandwiches or gourmet food staples. Thank you Will & Sarah!"

- "Beautiful, relaxing, amazing property!" - "Great family retreat, the grounds are magical" - "This was a beautiful property - much larger than the pictures would make it seem. The backyard was great, with an awesome creek to dip our feet in. It's in a rather remote area which was nice and peaceful, but an easy drive to Manchester. Loved it!" - "Great yard and deck. The river was cool and plenty of bathrooms" - "This was a truly amazing setting for our very large gathering... The property is beautiful & secluded, and the nearby river (to our delighted surprise) somehow became the centerpiece of most of our activity during our stay. It's a special place. All bedrooms were well-kept and located away from common areas, meaning any of our guests could catch a break or sleep in peace whenever they wanted to. Each with an ensuite, comfortable beds. The kitchen & dining area were well-equipped and provided ample space for us to prepare & enjoy meals together. We had a number of things we needed to address with the owner, Brenda, prior to our arrival (I'd say we were even a bit "needy"), and she was always very welcoming & accommodating to all of our inquiries. During our stay she made sure to check in on us and was very pleasant to talk to. All-in-all, I am very happy to have made this the venue for our special occasion... Would wholeheartedly recommend!"

- "Breathtaking views!" - "My family had a wonderful stay at the Skyline Cabin this past week. Peter, the owner was so easy to work with and provided an easy to use app with useful details from arrival instructions to activity recommendations, and appliance instructions. The cabin was clean and the owner even had a basket of snacks waiting for us on arrival. We loved the fire pit and Mountain View’s and appreciated the quiet neighborhood. We would definitely stay here again! 5 stars all around. Thank you Peter! "

**FOR HEAT IN THE EVENT OF A POWER OUTAGE - READ BELOW**
FOREMOST: NEVER ATTEMPT TO LIGHT THE STOVE WITH AN OPEN FLAME OF ANY KIND.
Fireplace operation if power is out: be careful of surfaces if stove is still hot and ensure the stove is without power! If looking at stove, position yourself from the right side and on the floor. Look between stove legs and locate black and red wires. These wires connect to a plastic box. CAREFULLY lift and pull out this box; it is fixed with velcro and the wires are short. Slide open the box, install 4 AA batteries, and return it to the holder. The new batteries will allow the pilot to ignite. NOTE: Run CPI mode on the remote in cold/heating/winter months; otherwise, run IPI mode; toggle the up and down arrows and power button on the remote to switch between these modes.

- "Just an amazing place to relax and chill out. Very clean, nicely decorated and extremely comfortable. Short drive to Stratton, so easy to get a day at the mountain in. Host is very accommodating and easy to get in touch with. We stayed here four weekends during the ski season, kids, parents and dog all loved it." - "A great cabin to enjoy VT. Perfect for a weekend at Stratton. Looking forward to staying here again." - "This cabin as depicted is what you will see when you arrive. It's very charming and comfortably appointed and clean. The beds were comfortable. The description says sleeps six but we stayed with two adults and two teenagers and it was teh right size. A larger party would have been tight but I suppose the kids could have shared beds. I have two room for improvements: a sheet pan would have been a nice thing to warm our pizza. The owner kindly recommended a great pizza place - Sam's Wood Fired Pizza and it was outstanding. We needed to warm it when we got to the place and made do with various foil pans etc. But this is minor and for the rest of our meals we had everything we needed, though very basic. The more important thing was the water from the tap which was brown and I'm sure quite fine but we had to go out and buy some plastic bottles. The owner assured me she had it tested multiple times and I am sure she did, but just come prepared and bring some bottle water. I would have appreciated this heads up. Boiling the water didn't change the color. One last thing is the driveay is steep and icy so beware. Overall the stay was excellent and has a lovely fireplace with lots of owner supplied wood and many blankets. This is a great spot for a weekend or 3 nights. Thanks Carmen."
