The complementary safari was great and the kids loved spotting the various animals. We ventured over to the sister wildlife park, Howletts, after we'd checked out and it was a great day out also. - "OK Lodge is just a name; what is is is a (nicely) extended and converted terraced house opposite a park; so now a few studio flats, with some common areas. Modern and clean but a couple of issues - like oven not even wired in; no table to eat off; and also whilst we booked for 3 adults and was confirmed; they called to say max was 2 adults & a child and would not refund the extra £50 for the 3rd adult (who couldn't now come of course) and I had to go through Expedia to get resolved. The hut was small but big enough for 2, I would think it would be too cramped with anyone else as there isn’t anywhere to store clothing otherwise but was perfect for us. The cabin has 2 bedrooms, a family bathroom, a pleasant open plan living area and an extensive decked area with outdoor furniture, bbq, fire pit and private hot tub. The cabin is situated on our 3-acre idyllic site with resident pygmy goats and chickens!

The space
The lodge caters for 5 people. An open plan living area has a well-equipped kitchen containing electric hob and fan oven, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge freezer, cooking utensils, a family dining area and a comfortable sitting area with wall mounted flat screen TV with freeview and DVD player. Wifi also available.

There are 2 bedrooms, a master bedroom with king sized bed and a separate family room with both a double and single bed.
There is a large decked garden area with BBQ, hot tub and fire-pit ideal for alfresco dining. The cabin is south facing and benefits from the sun from sunrise until sunset.

With excellent amenities close by including the local shop, large village green, outdoor play area, local village pub (all within a few minutes walk), stunning scenery leading to numerous beautiful walks and cycle routes, this cabin is ideal for a year-round family break.

Situated only 10 minutes from the historic city of Canterbury and on bus routes to Sandwich and the seaside town of Whitstable.
Howletts zoo is a few hundred metres from the cabin, you can regularly hear the sounds from the lions, monkeys and elephants. Wingham wildlife park is within a couple of miles.

The Cabin (23ft by 10ft) has been decorated and fitted out with a contemporary look and offers full heating throughout. The bedroom has a comfortable double bed, with an en-suite shower room. We provide toiletries, hairdryer, and a couple of towelling robes with matching slippers.

Enjoy even the chilliest of days at the cabin! Relax and soak in the scenery and local wildlife in the luxury of your own private hot tub.

After a day spent enjoying the outdoors, you might want to relax in front of the television or just enjoy the flicker of the flames created by our instant-heat electric fire. If you want to prepare your own meals, there’s an oven, microwave and hobs. We’ll even arrange for a food delivery if that’s what you want and store it in the refrigerator ready for your arrival.

Weather permitting, you will be able to sit out on your own private veranda that overlooks the North Downs and dine alfresco. You’ll find a barbecue in the shed we have provided, which can also house any bikes you might decide to bring. Fortunately, The Cabin is completely fenced, with its own entrance and land, so if you do bring a four-legged friend, you can all relax.

We can advise you on local walks and cycle routes, even those including our wonderful local pubs! This area is steeped in history so you might perhaps choose to visit nearby Leeds Castle and find out why Henry VIII stayed there. The shops are a short drive away.

If you are looking for a rural retreat, set at the end of a bridleway and surrounded by fields, why not use The Cabin as a base? The Hay Hut is a beautiful Shepherd's Hut surrounded by ten acres of peaceful countryside which is all yours to enjoy during your stay. As well as acres of outside space the hut has it's own bathroom, well-equipped kitchen, large patio area and private off-road parking.

The hut is comfortably furnished to make your stay a real treat. There's a double bed with the softest of sheets and under-bed storage. The bathroom has a WC, sink, shower, hot water, fluffy towels and complimentary toiletries. Your own well-equipped kitchen means you can make everything from a morning coffee to drink in bed to a delicious supper to eat on the patio on a warm evening. During colder months the wood burning stove keeps you cosy. The aim is to have all the fun of a shepherd's hut with the comfort of a boutique hotel room.

There's private off-road parking with a short clear path leading down to the hut, meaning you can access rural seclusion without a long muddy trek!
There is secure bike storage if you need it.

The hut is perched on a gentle slope leading down to a stream which borders mixed woodland, and the uninterrupted views are outstanding. Whilst the top of the field is cut for hay in the summer, the slope leading down to the stream and woodland is left wild, and as a consequence is a haven for nature, particularly birds and butterflies.

Relax in total rural seclusion and drink in the views and fresh air or use the hut as a base to explore the local area as Kent and East Sussex are on your doorstep. This area is incredibly special and has so many places of interest and things to do it can be hard to decide how to spend your time. A footpath runs through the hayfield, so you can literally step out of your front door and begin your adventure.

Aldington sits just above Romney Marsh, one of the most exceptional areas in England. Miles of flat country lanes make it a haven for cyclists, and the coastline bordering it boasts everything from Derek Jarman's famous cottage in the shadow of Dungeness, via the traditional seaside amusements of Dymchurch, to the gourmet and artistic delights of Folkestone.

The border with East Sussex is nearby, so you can take in the fantastic shops, cafes and cobbled streets of the historic old town of Rye before enjoying the miles of white sand at the famous Camber Sands beach. Port Lympne Safari Park is a stone's throw away, so if you've tired of the abundance of British wildlife on your doorstep you could always go spend the day with a giraffe.

Neighbouring Tenterden and Appledore provide you with countless antique shops, boutiques, cafes and restaurants, and there are many National Trust and English Heritage sites nearby, as well as The Rare Breeds Centre. The Royal Military Canal meanders through the neighbouring village of Bonnington, with miles of walking, canoeing, and paddle boarding opportunities leading to historic churches and places of interest. The Saxon Shore Way radiates out from Aldington, and The Hay Hut is therefore the perfect base for walkers.

Although the hut provides you with all the facilities you need to self-cater there are numerous cafes, pubs and restaurants in surrounding villages and towns, so you could enjoy a scallop and bacon baguette on the seafront at Hythe for breakfast, have a different world cuisine from every stall on Folkestone's Harbour Arm for lunch, and a slap-up traditional dinner at a village pub for dinner. The fish and chip van visits the village on a Tuesday.

Standing on the coast on a clear day you can see France, and with Dover an easy drive away why not hop over for a day trip? Or visit the recently expanded Ashford Designer Outlet for shopping and dining, stopping off at The Curious Brewery on the way.

Aldington itself has it's own general store and Post Office, pub, butcher and fishmonger, as well as the fantastic egg vending machine, which has to be seen to be believed! And it doesn't just sell eggs. You can snap up some brownies, bacon, milk, veg and whatever the farmer happens to have put in it that day, and it's just a short walk away across the fields.

As hosts we are only two minutes away, so we can be at hand to help with anything should you need us, but you have the hut and land around it to yourself.

Aldington is just outside Ashford, meaning it is easily accessible by car from the M20, and is served by Ashford International train station which is a mere 36 minute journey from central London. The Hay Hut is a 20 minute drive from the station.

It is 30 minutes to the Eurotunnel and 34 minutes from Dover Ferry terminal, making it an ideal stopover on your way to or from the continent.

Cyclists could explore the local area with ease, with miles of flat lanes crossing the marsh.

The exterior of this cabin is built in a traditional log-cabin style, with a plastered interior. The property is purpose built, single story, with wood effect flooring throughout. Two double bedrooms offer 2 double beds, with a charging point built into beds, televisions in both bedrooms as well as the lounge. Your kitchen area is equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine and fridge.th small freezer compartment.

The property itself is situated in the heart of Kent with a nearby traditional pub selling excellent food and refreshment. On the Greensand ridge / Pilgrims way, a hot spot for walking, bird watching and beautiful scenery. The south-west part of the Greensand ridge and hills is in the South Downs National Park.

A 10 minute drive will take to you Leeds castle, a historical castle with a moat, activities for kids and families alike, with the Go-Ape attraction nearby. Easy to get to Eurostar and Dover within a 35 minute drive. The historic Canterbury cathedral is also a short drive away.

Lots of annual events to occupy families, however this property is not suitable for hen / stag parties.

The bathroom and shower were wonderful, with an amazing tap for the basin - like a waterfall! There's a little patio area at the front, it's visible from the other cabin but screened from the farmhouse. It's a hilly area, so be prepared if you decide to go walking. We walked a lot as there are many footpaths right from the road the farm is on - no need to go searching in the car for places to walk. Do take a torch (one is provided) if it may get dark while walking locally - no street lamps of course, and v thick tree cover in summer. Be aware the local roads are single track with passing places, so leave plenty of time for journeys when driving or walking - and put your patient head on! The Keepers Retreat felt spacious and relaxed. Only occasional sounds from farm traffic. Heidi was very friendly and welcoming but left us in peace. Our only disappointment was that we didn't get to eat at the nearby Pepper Box pub because it was closed on Mondays and that was the day we chose to visit! But it would be walking distance - maybe 15 - 20 mins pleasant stroll along country lanes. We hope to visit Keepers Retreat again, then we'll definitely eat at the Pepper Box. Apparently, they do takeaway now too. With that in mind, the nearest grocery shopping (apart from tiny convenience stores at Kingswood and Headcorn) is a Co-op in the beautiful village of Lenham - just the other side of the M20. Don't expect superstores unless you travel to Maidstone! Or takeaways (except Pepper Box.) Go prepared to cook, have picnics, or spend whole days out, eating before turning homeward. We had a very relaxing and yet invigorating time at Keepers Retreat. Slowing down, enjoying fresh air, exercise and simple food. I hope you do too."

This 2 bed cabin has a hot tub and also a 55 inch TV (Netflix, Prime etc.) and a 42 inch Internet TV in the bedroom. It is perfect to relax in after a day exploring.

An ideal location for cyclists, nature lovers especially bird watchers, Cambers beaches, Hythe, Rye and many local events including the Rye Bonfire and Hythe Regatta are easily accessible from this location.

The whole plot is private to the three well-spaced properties. You are within easy reach of the village centre with 2 pubs and a shop/post office. Please consider that the lakes are unfenced so young children must be supervised at all times and there is a walk from the private off road parking area. Modern design features in this new for 2020 detached lodge. The property is accessed by a few steps , but once inside you are on one level. Set below the Ben Lawers and Tarmachan mountain ranges close to the spectacular Loch Tay, the self-catering cosy & compact Rowan woodland lodge is perfectly positioned within peaceful and tranquil surroundings consisting of waterfalls, streams and woodlands. Wildlife is in abundance whether it be red deer, red squirrels, birds and so much more. You may even catch a glimpse of the local ospreys and other birds of prey.

The Gean Lodge (sleeps 8). It has 4 bedrooms (two double bedrooms, one with twin beds and the other with full size bunk beds) and bathroom with shower over bath. There’s space also for a travel cot for a baby if requested.

This is a very well-equipped lodge which is perfect for larger groups or families. The fully equipped kitchen has an electric oven/hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer, toaster/kettle. The dining area comfortably sits 8. There's a large lounge area with three large settees, flat screen TV, Free sat box, Blueray/DVD player, and a CD player.

Outside there's a newly renovated deck area with table and chairs and a brick-built barbeque to the side. This is a semi-detached south facing lodge and the views immediately from the lodge are somewhat restricted by the lodges across the courtyard. The open view at the front of the park is to the hills on the south side of Loch Tay.

The Clarence is a unique hideaway that prides itself on offering small luxuries whilst being immersed in nature. Nestled in wilderness, the hut sits comfortable on the brow a hill with a beautiful valley view.

Located in the heart of the North Downs AONB, we are in arguably the remotest part of Kent with no light pollution or noise. We have a footpath running through the heart of the wild meadow that leads into a beautiful valley taking you to the village of Doddington (30 mins) where there is a terrific pub. Or a longer walk (1.5 hours) in the opposite direction to the village of Stalisfield where The Plough pub always serves the most delicious food.

Many of our guests enjoy day trips to Faversham and Whistable where they can collect some fresh fish for the BBQ, you will also find an award winning butcher in Doddington.

Our hut is a cosy escape. It’s larger than most huts and we try to give a hotel room experience the best we can. Whilst the kitchen has everything you could need please do not expect a huge space for big scale cooking.
The hut has lots of dvds to choose from, some games and books.

We have tried to make it as homely as possible, so please treat it as a home from home .

Guests will arrive at the entrance to the family home and you are welcome to park anywhere in front of the house. The house is red brick at the front and coming from the road you will have seen a flint/ castle looking wall , this is us :)

Please bear in mind we are very remote so using "What Three Words" is essential when finding the location which will be sent to you on booking.

In the winter and when arriving in the dark, please bring a torch (we used to supply these but people kept taking them by accident). The hut is in a field which gets muddy. Wellies will be needed in the winter months.

Other things to note
Please note this is an introductory rate whilst landscaping around the main house/ driveway is completed. The hut itself is secluded from the house and you will have total privacy and the landscaping will not impact your space.

The Space:
The Cabin is a private annex attached to the owner's home. Offering a welcoming and comfortable place to stay in the centre of Canterbury, the space has everything you could need for a self-catering break.

With a cosy cottage feel, the kitchen is traditional in style and features a kitsch gingham curtain. Fully equipped with modern appliances and cookware, you’ll be able to prepare home cooked meals during your visit.

Head to the bedroom and you’ll find a tranquil space. With a large sash window looking out to the garden, you’ll feel relaxed here in no time. Enjoy long lazy mornings with a cup of tea watching the TV from the comfortable double bed.

The annex has a private shower room with a walk-in shower, WC and basin.

Guest Access:
Guests have access to the annex via a private entrance to the side of the main building. The keys are accessed via a key safe box, and full details will be provided prior to your stay.

Please note the annex is attached to the owner's home, however there is no access into the main building from the annex and visa versa. Please also note that the owner’s dog may bark upon your arrival but she is very friendly! There is a spacious garden that you are welcome to use but please be aware that this is shared with the owner.

There are a number of pay and display carparks nearby and details will be provided prior to your arrival.

Just a short walk from Canterbury High Street and only 10-minutes from Greyfriars and Westgate Gardens, you’ll be perfectly placed to explore the city.

Discover Canterbury Cathedral which is one of the most iconic landmarks in England and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With stunning architecture, intricate stained-glass windows and a rich history, it’s no surprise it has over one million visitors per year!

You can also visit The Westgate Towers Museum and Viewpoint where you can enjoy spectacular views of the city from the top of the largest surviving medieval gateway in England and learn all about the city.

Canterbury West rail station is a 5-minute walk from the property where there are regular journeys to Margate, Ramsgate, London St Pancras and London Charing Cross. Plus, the journey into London is under 1 hour with Southeastern trains which is handy!

If you’re travelling by coach, the National Express coach stop is approximately a 5-minute walk from the property.

The nearby towns of Ashford, Broadstairs, Dover and Margate can be reached via car under 45 minutes so Kent can be explored easily. If you fancy heading to the seaside, the beautiful town of Whitstable is a short 20-minute drive away.

If you intend to explore by bus, the nearest bus stop is within walking distance and serves the University of Kent, Whitstable, Herne Bay and Margate.

The garden kitchen area is located on the back of the hut and includes a double gas fuelled burner and grill, cool box (freezer blocks available at check in area), utensils, cutlery, crockery and gas stove kettle all supplied.

There is also a washing up area with bowl, with fairy liquid and tea towels and hot water.

The Shower Room Hut

WC - which by all accounts is the smartest compost loo ever made. No whiffs no fuss. Uses wood shavings to vacate below the hut. Very clever!!

The garden area shares an enclosed sheep proof paddock with one other hut (Mist). Your superbly positioned hut has a covered balcony with views (you wouldn't know or see your neighbours beside you). On the lawn seating area with wooden chairs and table and fire pit.

The check in zone is approximately 200 yards away inviting those arriving to collect their freezer blocks as well as entry keys. Note the farm owners replace spare freezer blocks and kindling, and also drinking water daily for guests to collect as required.

Parking zone is also 200 metres away for 1 car.

You can let Moss in addition (look up Take Time Shepherds Hut) which sleeps 4 and private use of the paddock.

Ashford’s High Speed, (38 minutes) train station to London is a 12 minute drive. The A28 is a mile away and this will take you to Margate via Canterbury or down to the South Coast at Hastings. Leeds Castle is just 20 minutes and the must visit Rye with nearby Camber Sands just 25 minutes in your car. Ashford’s recently enlarged Designer Outlet is 10 minutes from this location. So if you want some fishing in well stocked lakes just outside of your door or day trips out then this cottage is ideally situated.

Our two beautifully designed and located glamping pods are hidden in the grounds of our stately home - surrounded by stunning gardens and farmland in Kent.
Just an hour from London, it's ideal for exploring the countryside and Kent coast, with fabulous walks and cycle rides from the doorstep.
Open all year, the pods are perfect for two or a family of four - featuring a comfy double bed, sofa bed, kitchen, bathroom, private deck and seating area and fire pit and hammock for alfresco living.

The space
Step into comfort with our timber-framed glamping pods designed in an open-plan layout. Enjoy the convenience of a private, enclosed bathroom equipped with a hot shower, flushing toilet, and wash basin. The inviting living area boasts a super cozy large double bed, a versatile sofa bed, and a well-equipped kitchen with a 2-ring induction hob, toaster, kettle, small fridge/freezer, and sink. Guest access
We have two glamping pods located in an open field and nestled between our gardens and fruit farm. The pods are adjacent to each other but screened off on one side for privacy. The pod field itself and the parking immediately outside the field is to be shared with your glamping neighbours. All of our glamping guests are free to explore our ten acres of stunning gardens at any time of year during daylight hours, and walk through the fruit farm ensuring they stick to the main tracks and paths.

Other things to note
Our glamping pods are immediately adjacent to our gardens which have areas of deep open water. Children must be supervised in the grounds at all times and access to the gardens is only available during daylight hours for your safety.

The gardens themselves are open to the public from 11am-5pm on Wednesdays to Sundays and bank holidays from April to September with some occasional autumn and winter openings. Whilst the pods field is private you will be sharing our ten acres of gardens with our visitors during opening hours and with our B&B and holiday let guests from the main house at any time. With ten acres to explore you’ll have plenty of open space!

On the other side of the pod field is our family fruit farm and the pods overlook a commercial cherry orchard. During the cherry season, you may wake up to the sound of tractors and fruit pickers hard at work.

This unique place has a style all of its own - a detached self contained annex within generous and private outdoor space that is only a 10 minute walk from the station and a 15 minute walk from Dreamland , Margate main sands and all that the old town has to offer.
There are plenty of lively bars and restaurants to visit nearby but if you fancy something quieter the beach at Westbrook bay is only a 5 minute walk .

CABIN SIZE:
32 x 8.5ft / 10 x 3 metres.
OUTSIDE attached shower/toilet room size: 6ft x 7ft

SLEEPS (3 options):
A: 2-4 adults.
B: 2 adults & 2 children.
C: 2 adults & 3 young children (shared beds).

HEATING:
We use 'infrared' heaters for cosy instant heat. There's a portable heater & a large fitted one in the lounge. Electric blanket on the double bed and extra thick duvets and throws provided. The outside shower room has a sensor heater as you enter.

THE SPACE:
Located in Hosts garden, though cabin is completely private. It is one long space, with a double bed at the back end & an extra pull out single bed if needed, this bed can be raised high (making extra space for co-sleeping) or low. Also a further single floor mattress is available in the lounge. There is a skylight (with blackout blind) over the bed to watch the moon & stars. Curtain hanging rail for clothes. Curtains can be closed to section off the bedroom.

Kitchen is in the middle, fully equipped with oven, hob, combi microwave/oven/grill, fridge and running hot water, sink & surface for food prep. Kettle & toaster with all basic essentials, dining area with table to seat 4 people. Also outdoor bbq, firepit & seating lit by hanging lights in the evening.

Following through to the lounge with a 3 seater sofa & second single bed if needed & TV with Netflix, Disney, Prime etc. Double doors open out overlooking pool (in summer) & back garden.

WASHROOM: There is an outside toilet/shower right next to the cabin, which has an infrared heater on a sensor & bluetooth speaker mirror. Fluffy towels all included.

GARDEN:
Outside desking leading to outdoor shower/toilet room & steps down to the garden with the 'cold unheated' pool (July-Sept ONLY) There is a HUGE garden, shared with the main house which follows down to an open paddock where you can meet free roaming hens, children's play area with play kitchen, slide, monkey bars & swings, sandpit, trampoline & basketball hoop.

We welcome full use of garden furniture for outside dining, including firepit & bbq. Please supervise younger children at all times as the garden is wild.

PLEASE WRAP UP WARM FOR BEDTIME. It is NOT an insulated building as we don't want to lose the rustic charm but does have double glazing.

Guest access
Guests have full use of private cabin & outside shower/toilet (next to cabin). The garden is a shared place with the host.

Other things to note
We decorate celebrating seasonal events including Easter, Halloween & Xmas.

Heating:
Do wrap up warm in the colder months though we do heat with infrared heaters, 3 in the cabin and 1 in the bathroom. Also included double heated mattress with dual controls.

Safety:
Do supervise children at all time, the garden is large and wild. We have a building project at the very far part of the field, this is under construction and not for playing in.

Note: Some farm smells and noises in the summer months as we are located by a farm.

Animals can be shut away if they are not your thing, just let us know if you prefer & we can accommodate your wishes.

Please consider that the lakes are unfenced so young children must be supervised at all times and there is a walk from the private off road parking area. The lakes have good numbers of Carp, Tench, Bream, Perch and Roach which can be fished for a fee payable on site.
