There is a community shared dock very closely located within walking distance, but it is quite high during low water times and can be a little challenging for entering and exiting a boat. You are welcome to beach your boat at the shoreline for easier access getting in and out. We allow a maximum of two watercraft to be there. Please be respectful of the neighbors and understand that their dock and floating platform are not ours and not for guest use.

If you have a larger group, we also have a second 2 bedroom / 1 bath home that also sleeps 4 located adjacent to this one. The second house is only available when renting both houses together, so there will be no one renting it if you rent the single house in this listing. There's so much to do in and around the Ocala National Forest! A favorite is to boat (by paddle or motor) Salt Springs Run, which comes from Salt Springs. The spring flows 52 million gallons per day and is a constant 72 degrees year round. The water is beautifully clear and the bottom is white sand. If you don’t have a boat, you may rent one at Salt Springs Marina, or just swim the springs at Salt Springs Recreation Area, just 2 miles from the cabin!

You may also choose to never leave the cabin with beautiful Lake Kerr steps away from the cabin doors. Enjoy long afternoons and evenings on the expansive patio with fire pit overlooking the lake or indulge yourself in the Hot Springs Grande hot tub on the deck. Commune with nature in our outdoor shower. Inside you'll find hardwood floors and granite countertops along with all the comforts of home. Enjoy your favorite shows on the new 60" television and sleep well in the ultra comfortable bedrooms. Wonderful waterfront view, with Canal access to Lake Kerr. The property sits on a ¼ acre with large windows offering nice views of the water and sunsets. Deer, otter, and a variety of birdlife, including Sandhill cranes and hummingbirds are often visible. Recreational activities may include hiking, fishing, canoeing, boating and water skiing. Lake Kerr covers 2,830 acres of deep water roughly 2 miles by a mile wide. Shoreline unblemished by developers abounds.
The home is cozy, and comfortable. Sleeping arrangements include a bed and futon upstairs, or convertible couches downstairs. The kitchen is well equipped including a microwave and dish washer. Central air/heat keeps you comfortable, whatever the season. An upstairs balcony overlooks the lake and various board games are provided to fill in-between outdoor activities.

Salt Springs is nestled in the center of Ocala National Forest off SR 19, just West of Lake George, Florida’s 2nd largest lake. This is the area that inspired Marjorie Rawlings to write The Yearling, an academy award winning story about a boy who befriends an abandoned fawn.
Salt Springs offers two small restaurants, bait shop, grocery store, ice cream stand, Dollar General, and a Subway at the gas station. Palatka and Silver Springs are about 20-30 minutes away for shopping and golf. Nearby Mount Dora is a noted haven for artists and antique shops are salted around the community as well. Most weekends feature a flea market offering various regional souvenirs and goods.

It's a quiet place down a well maintained dirt road. It's definitely a cabin like house similar to glamping. It has a window ac unit in main area and fans located in each room, shower outside of the home,and a kitchen with hot plates,electric frying pan, and other electric cookware to cook with, a full size fridge and grill outside! Enjoy grilling outside while you watch your family around the campfire. Salt Springs Recreation is near by for swimming , Silver glen and Lake Kerr is near for kayaking and boating. The yard is huge so bring your boat or kayaks!

Beautiful Park Model Cabin with large outdoor patio up front and huge deck out back perfect for grilling and chilling. It's just a short golf cart ride or stroll to the lake to catch the sunset or throw a fishing line! Huge Upstairs Kids Loft (low ceiling) with 2 double beds and large play area.
Our Cabin includes daily use of a private golf cart, 2 kayaks, 2 stand up paddle boards, corn hole boards and pickle-ball equipment! There is a second Golf Cart available, message for details!
The Resort has 2 heated pools and hot tub, along with 4 pickleball courts, shuffleboard and horseshoes. There is a small playground for kids. Enjoy the huge lakefront for swimming and kayaking. There is a boat ramp and fishing dock as well.

Bring your boat, jet skis, ATVs, and Side-by-Sides! There are over 100miles of trails in the Ocala National Forest. There is a large amount of space for trailer parking right at the cabin. Spend the day snorkeling at Salt Springs that is right across the street or a short drive to Silver Glenn and numerous other springs.
Come relax at the lake with your family, swimming all day and grilling and star gazing by night!

Cottage #1 is in Salt Springs Resort on the shores of Little Lake Kerr in the Ocala National Forest. You’ll be among oaks draped in Spanish moss with a view of the sparkling lake in the distance. Sandhill cranes will visit. Sunsets over the lake are legendary. The cottage has a full kitchen, TV, WiFi, and sleeps four to six. There are pools, hot tub, fishing pier, and boat ramp. In nearby Salt Springs swim at any time of year. Silver Springs with its glass-bottom boats is a half hour away.

The space
The Country Cottage was built solid in 1945 and features solid wood ship lap walls, ceilings, and hardwood floors throughout the home.

It recently received a complete remodel/renovation in 2023 and features all the modern amenities that you would expect a new home to have such as central heat & air, free Wi-Fi, 65" big screen with 5.1 theater surround sound, all new LED lighting and dimmer switches, side-by-side refrigerator with ice maker, electric range, dishwasher, microwave, garbage disposal and large easy access shower.

The home includes 2 master suits each with queen beds, night stands, small dressers, ceiling fans, and 40" smart TV's. One of those suits have access to the master bathroom. There is one bedroom with 2 single beds, night stands, and ceiling fan and we also have a bedroom that includes a full size bed as well as queen bunk beds, night stand, and this bedroom is also attached to the master bathroom.

Our guests have full access to the entire home except 1 locked closet that we keep bulk supplies in.

Other things to note
A few features of the Country Cottage to note as you are making your decision to stay are:

1) There are 2 standard height steps to enter the home located at the front porch and also at the carport entrance. We have provided grab bars to assist when needed.

2) The hall to the master bedroom and queen bunk bed room is slightly narrower than standard hallways. However, our guests with walkers shouldn't have a problem.

3) The Country Cottage has its own water well. The water is sourced from underground aquifers. There have not been any known problems with the water quality, smell, or taste. However, if an additional filtration is desired, filtered water is provided and can be accessed via the refrigerator water dispenser.

4) The Country Cottage has its own septic system. Please refrain from flushing items such as:

Band-Aids, Bleach, Cat litter/ excrement, Chewing gum, Cigarette butts,
Coffee grounds, Condoms, Cosmetics, Cotton balls/swabs,

This cute cabin has two bedrooms (1 queen, 1 full) and a full-size sleeper sofa. It has 1 bathroom. The living room has a rustic cabin feeling with a sleeper sofa, recliner, rocking chair and an electric fireplace. The full kitchen has a stove, microwave, refrigerator, and a coffee pot. Coffee, tea, and condiment available to get your weekend started. The cabin has A/C and heat, a washer and dryer, gas grill, boat ramp, floating dock, and 2 carports to cover your toys. This cabin is located off Little Lake Kerr cove and has a private canal access to Little Lake Kerr and Lake Kerr. The 1/3 acre property is covered in beautiful oaks. Enjoy the fenced back yard with your furry family, picnic table, fire pit, and the floating dock. There is a canoe available for your use and kayaks upon request. The perfect place for a quiet weekend away in the middle of the forest.

Remember you are in the middle of a National Forest with many creatures from insects to animals. Wildlife you may encounter include deer, bear, fox, raccoons, alligators, many different species of birds, and yes, insects.

Very Beary Cabin on Crystal Lake is in an Ocala National Forest community sitting in a hardwood hammock of oak, pine, magnolia, and hickory trees. This listing is for the whole cabin plus glamping A Frame with access to Crystal Lake. The property is 1 acre including lake/beach acces easment. Fire pit on the lake beach, Covered Cedar Dock on the lake, private beach on sand bottom spring fed Crystal Lake (BearFoot Beach), ample parking, 10' x 40' furnished upper deck, 10' x 40' furnished screened room, full sized washer/dryer, outside shower, too much to list. The detached garage/workshop remains locked.
Our small private lake beach "Bear Foot Beach" has low night time lighting, has a peddle boat, canoe, Bon-firepit, Covered Cedar Dock, beach chairs, and Adirondack chairs to enjoy nature watching with morning coffee, beautiful sunsets over Crystal Lake, and star gazing/wine tasting at night time and a private outside hot shower plus dressing area.
Two Jimmy Buffet themed Cruiser Bicycles are available to explore the paved forest roads in the area.

Other things to note
The area is a lake community surrounded by the Ocala National Forest. About half of the lots in the area are forest and the rest comprised of seasonal/vacation homes, retirees, and local residences. A number of mom and pop restaurants and shopping are less than 10 minutes from the cabin on route 40 (Scenic Black Bear Byway) and 314-A... a shopping area called Forest Corners. Silver Springs is about 25 minutes away and has major restaurants and shopping ... Walmart, Outback, Bob Evens, etc.
