The space
The cottage has an air source heat pump installed in the summer of 2023, which, together with a circulating fireplace, provides a pleasant warmth throughout the cottage in the cold. Underfloor heating in the kitchen and bathroom.

The cottage is great for working remotely, with Wifi connected to the mobile phone. 600m to the base station. 100x60cm folding table that fits a monitor + a large mouse mat.

There are 1 parking spaces, there's a heating plug, not on the ceiling. No pets (there is bargaining) and no smoking indoors (no bargaining).

The barn in the yard has a ski maintenance table and equipment, own lotions. Men's and women's bikes for summer use. The barn is shared with a neighbor.

Skis and supplies get in a lockable space on the deck. There are random equipment to use, such as snowshoes.

Wilderness cottage accommodation offers Lapland exoticism at its best. Modestly equipped cabins for 1-2 people stay in bunk beds and the stove keeps the cottage warm.

The cabins have no electricity or running water. Toilet and shower, as well as wireless internet access, can be found in the main building of the adjacent Karhunkierros nature center. Guests can enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner for an additional fee in the Arctic Circle Café.

Welcome to the quiet, round log cabin in the tranquility of the Naruska River. The cottage is suitable for year-round holidays, the car can always access the yard, except for the late May garbage weeks. Pets are allowed.

The square is 40m2, sleeping places for 4 people. There is a fully equipped kitchen in the downstairs kitchen, a sofa bed for two on the side of the living room, and an electric desk where you can follow the life of the Naruska River when working remotely. Behind the kitchen is a separate bedroom with a bed that can accommodate 1 person. Next to the fireplace, the stairs go up to the loft, whose plush double bed ensures a good night's sleep. The cottage has a 47" smart TV.

The interior is mainly heated by an air source heat pump, for sudden heat or an atmosphere in the living room. Electric radiators take care of the rest of the heat needs in the worst frosts. An air source heat pump makes the cottage cool in the hottest heat if needed.
The main building has its own entrance with a wood-burning sauna + dressing room. The sauna can comfortably accommodate four saunas on the deep top table, the sauna has a 50-liter hot water stream with its own wooden nest.

There is a compost toilet and a litre in the outbuilding of the yard. There are firewood on the side of the litre, as well as the necessary outdoor equipment of the cottage (kaira, ice saw, shovels, axes, masonry pans, sausage sticks, etc.). There is a fire pit in the yard.

The distance from the cottage's porch to the Naruska River is 30 meters away. The trail runs all the way to the water's edge to a rock where you can land in the river during the melted water. In the winter, the swimming area is a self-made opening to the river's ice. There's a bench on the beach that's good for coffee.

The water comes from either the river or the natural spring along the cottage road. It is possible to get tap water from a nearby property.

The getaway is especially suitable for a peace-loving nature enthusiast. The surrounding nature and the nearby Tuntsa wilderness offer something for everyone, including fishing, nature photography, mushroom picking and berry picking, skiing, hunting, snowmobiling, hiking, kayaking and rafting, hiking are the hobbies of those who enjoy here.

The space
The house was built in 1983. The floors in the common areas are plastic carpet and in the bedrooms there is newly laid laminate flooring. The walls in the common areas are wood panelling and in the bedroom there is wallpaper and paint.

The small toilet has a retro style sink and toilet.

The house is clean and fresh, there is a little more wear and tear in places.

The house is heated primarily by electricity. The house has a waterborne heating system, the water in the system is heated with electricity or wood.
You can also make a fire in the large oven in the kitchen, for a more cosy feeling.

There are two saunas, one inside and one outside. The sauna inside the house is heated with electricity and the outdoor sauna is heated with wood. There is no access to water for the outdoor sauna during the winter. If you want, you can carry water from the house to the sauna.

Guest access
You will have access to the whole house for yourself. You have an outdoor wood-burning sauna for your use, which you share with another tenant who does not use it.

Water is not available for the wood-fired sauna during the winter.

If you need a travel cot, highchair etc. let us know and we will arrange it. There is a stroller with large tyres for use, rolls well on all terrain.

The space
Our cabin is called Örtsylä. Cabin Örtsylä is located in the touristy centre of Sallatunturi. The address is Honkakuja 19a in Sallatunturi.
Örtsylä is a semi-detached house built in 1991. On the ground floor is the living room with complete kitchen, bedroom, bathroom+toilet and sauna. The bathroom is functional but not modern. A major renovation of the bathroom will take place soon. Upstairs are 2 x double bedrooms with 2 extra beds available in 1 room. A total of 8 people could sleep in the cabin. Adjacent to the main bedroom is the 2nd toilet. Upstairs is also an extra relaxation area with TV where you can retreat for a while.

Distances:
Directly behind the cabin, 20 meters, there is a hiking trail (UKK) and mountain bike trail in summer. From the cabin there are many short and long hiking trails that go directly into the National Park Kansallis Puisto.
The lake with a public swimming beach with toilet and walking path surrounding the lake, is 1 km away.
In winter, the cross-country ski trail behind the cabin offers direct access to the ski slope. So skiing away from the cabin.

At Hotel Holiday Club Salla is a small supermarket. The big supermarkets are 8km away in Salla. At Salla Ski&Active you can rent an electric car to drive to Salla.

South of Sallatunturi, the Oulanka National Park is 70 km away.
Kuusamo Airport is 100km from the property. Rovaniemi Airport is 155km from the property.

Villa Sallanpesä is available for rent all year round. There is a «kota» on the yard (as well as firewood for your use) and on the back porch of the villa you will find a hot tub for six (6) persons (fee of 210€/week). There is also a fence on the yard for your furry friends. Sallanpesä is located right by excellent opportunities for snow mobiling and hiking. The wilderness areas of Tuntsa and Naruska are not too far away. The fall colours of the region have earned lots and lots of compliments.

Kuusamo Airport has a shuttle bus service from almost every Finnair scheduled flight to Salla. Norwegian flies to Rovaniemi in addition to Finnair. By train you can get to Kemijärvi with roundtrip transportation to Sallatunturi except holidays from Kemijärvi Salla there is no transportation

By car train, you can easily get from Southern Finland to Kemijärvi, from there by car, continuing 75 km to the cottage in Sallatunturi. Restaurant cafe Kaira Cafe 30 m, Program services and restaurant 200 m (including the Arctic Circle Safaris, Restaurant Kiela and Papana Pupi), Spa Hotel Northern Lights 600 m, Sallatunturi slopes 700 m, Sallan Reindeer Park 3.5 km.
