My three Lapland cabins are situated 250 km above the Arctic Circle, in the centre of the small ski resort Saariselkä, surrounded with the beautiful mountain landscape and wildness.
My cabins, E39, E40 and F44, all almost identical, locating in the same housing company, are fitted with all modern essentials, open plan kitchen-lounge area, with log burning fire place, private sauna adjoined to shower room, guest toilet, free WiFi.
The cabins are provided with a large, full high loft, which is divided with a partition wall/slide door in two bedrooms.

All amenities are in walking distance: supermarket, shops, restaurants, safari offices, slopes, toboggan run, ski tracks. Car is not needed.
Safari companies arrange all kind of winter activities: husky sled trips, snowmobiling, visits to reindeer farms, fishing tours. Downhill slopes offer different degrees of difficulty, from beginners to world- class. Well maintained cross country ski tracks are free for all. Toboggan hill, ca. 2 km long, is really beloved by children of all ages. A well-stocked equipment rental store and top-class skiing school are at your service, too.
You can visit Santa Claus in his willage, in distance of 10 km. In dark and clear nights you have the best possibilities in Northern Europe to admire the Nothern Lights, even in front of your cabin, but also on arranged Northern Light hunting tours on the top of mountains.
In Inari, distance 80 km, in the museum and centre of Sami culture Siida you learn about Sami way of living. In Lapland there are about 3000 Sami people living on reindeer farming.

The distance to the nearest small town Ivalo is 30 km and to Ivalo airport 25 km.
The airport bus transfer takes care of all transports between Saariselkä and airport.

Are you looking for a cosy stay in a peaceful surrounding, but no luxury? Kuksa is an idyllic cottage (48m2) located perfectly between Saariselkä skiresort (7km) and Kiilopää fell area (12km). The cottage has two small bedrooms with double bunk beds, a well equipped kitchenette, TV and heating stove. Fresh drinkable water straight to sauna (no shower). Heated and odourless composting toilet. Ski tracks and hiking routes within a short distance from the cottage. Relax your mind and soul here!

Note!
Kuksa-cottage is a traditional finnish cottage and it is suitable for you if you enjoy doing things yourself (for example washing dishes, carrying water from the sauna to kitchenette and toilet and wash yourself in sauna without a shower) and you don´t mind that there is no wifi. In wintertime it can be really cold outside and in summertime there can be lot of mosquitos outside.

However we have peaceful surroundings in beautiful Lapland nature, where you can relax :)


LOUNGE, BEDROOMS
Kuksa is an idyllic cottage with two tiny bedrooms and a small lounge. The lounge includes a dining set, a heating stove and a small TV. The heating stove along with radiators will keep you warm even during winter time. Bedrooms are equipped with double bunk beds (under bed 140cm, upper bed 110cm). There are plenty of covers and pillows for guests to use.

Note!
Please bring your own linen. You can store your clothes etc on the upper bed, since there is no wardrobe in the bedrooms.

KITCHENETTE, SAUNA, WATER AND TOILET
The kitchenette is well equipped: an old oven, stove, kitchen hood, refrigerator, freezer, microwave, coffee maker, electric kettle, frying pans, pots, tableware etc. Fresh, cold and drinkable water comes straight from the well into to sauna (the only water spot in the cottage), where you can fill up your water canisters for the kitchenette. The kitchenette has a sink and a drain so washing dishes is easy. Sauna has an electric stove, a water boiler (no shower) and a window. There is a heated, odourless composting toilet with a sink next to the front door. Firewood can be found in the warehouse outside.

SURROUNDINGS, SKI TRAILS AND HIKING ROUTES
There is a low stream behind the cottage where you can take a dip at summer time. Ski trails and hiking routes can be reached by skiing or hiking through the forest (about 1km) starting point at the end of the road, or by driving a short distance to Laanila, Saariselkä or Kiilopää. Or just go into the forest and make your own routes!

Note:
The house next door has several sled dogs outside, who can bark and howl from time to time. We haven't been disturbed by that.

There are a few cottages nearby but the area and the environment is peaceful, since the cottage is located in forested area.

FINAL CLEANING UP
Due to budget price, the final cleaning up and possible snow removal (surrounding the cottage) during the time of your stay is on each guests own responsibility. You can find a vacuum cleaner and detergent in the cottage.

INTERNET/PHONE
The cottage has no wifi. Internet connection is working most of the time and remote work has also been done at the cottage. However, sometimes phone visibility might be disturbed indoors depending on weather and your telephone subscription (Telia works best). So feel free to but your phone away and read books or enjoy the Siberian jays outside the window, free of charge!

PETS
Housebroken pets are welcome. Please keep your pets leached outside, due to reindeers and the neighbours dogs. Please also collect any remains from the courtyard and make sure your pet doesn´t harm the interior of the cottage.

Guest access
Please note that there is not that much public transport in the area, so the best way to get to Kuksa-cottage is by your own/rental car! You can heat your car engine in the winter time (not electric car). The whole cottage is in your use only the time of your stay.

Other things to note
No tobacco products are allowed to be used inside the cottage. It is forbidden to make fire outside in the nature.

Facilities
The ground floor is approximately 80 square meters and includes a living room with a kitchenette, 2 bedrooms, a sauna, a bathroom, and a toilet. The upstairs is the size of the entire cabin and features a partially open loft divided into sleeping areas by partition walls.

The cabin is fully equipped with an electric stove/oven, refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher, coffee maker, kettle, toaster, tableware for 8 people, television, iron and ironing board, washing machine, clothes drying cabinet, radio/CD-cassette player, and hairdryer. Wi-Fi is available.

The cabin is about 100 meters from skiing and outdoor trails. In the summer, the trails are suitable for joggers, hikers, and mountain bikers. In the winter, the trails are used by skiers, snowshoers, and fat bikers. There is also direct access to winter walking trails from the immediate vicinity of the cabin.

In the yard, there is a storage building with car heating sockets on its outer wall. Charging for electric vehicles must be arranged separately.
