The Kitchen is very modern, equipped with stove, oven, dishwasher, fridge and a breakfast station with many appliances (toaster, kettle, coffee machine, waffle iron)
All the kitchen ware and also plastic ware for our younger guests.

Bathroom
Lodge has a lovely bathroom with rain shower, washing machine, toilet, hair dryer. All the washing lotions are provided (shampoo, conditioner and body lotion)

Sauna
Lodge has a big electric sauna, that is simple to use and control. There is also an access from sauna to the patio to cool down or even roll on the snow!

By request a travel bed for baby or small child can be arranged, as well as a babychair.

There is a big front patio, you can access it from the living room and bathroom, it is also an excellent place to view the northern lights

Aurora vieving point
Outside there is an aurora viewing point with outdoor fireplace, comfy seats and firewood. This spot is great for viewing northern lights, since there is not a lot of light pollution in the area. At this point the auroras are usually right in front of you if they are visible. In the cabin you can find manual on how to make a fire, feel free to ask for help as well!

In the yard of the residential building, you'll find a traditional Finnish wood-burning sauna that is heated in the evenings. Each cabin has its own 55-minute sauna shift. Sauna time will be arranged upon arrival. Next to the sauna, you'll find a *heroes bath where you can freshen up and feel the arctic touch.

This cottage is 25km from Rovaniemi so you need to rent a car (no e-car).
Weather in winter can be very cold, even -35 degrees. So remember to have proper winter clothes with you. The cottage is very warm and cosy anyway.

When weather gets cold (-20° to -30°) temperature in the cottage can cool down a little but we do have a fireplace and electric radiators
for your use to keep the cottage as warm as possible.

Sauna and washing possibilities in our sauna are limited during the winter:

Water can be taken from the lake by using a hand pump and it must be carried in a bucket in to the sauna. The lake freezes from the shore during winter so the hole needs to be drilled in the ice about 150m from the shore. ( We will provide you with washing water before you arrive )

Another option is to melt snow/ice in the boiler (80liter tank and it's heated by wood which we provide). It is located in the sauna so that you can get the washing water.

The sauna also heats up very well in winter time and it's a whole different experience which people have loved.

Please note that bathing in the winter beach sauna requires a bit of work. However, this is a traditional thing for Finnish people and we do highly recommend trying it out. We will be very active in advising and guiding if you have no previous experience of this.


The showering water is collected from a lake 40 meters away from our lakefront sauna. The same water is used for washing using buckets and washing cups in the sauna. There are several canisters for you to use for filling. I will always provide fresh drinking water for your company for your stay.

Atmospheric red cottage in the village of Rautiosaari by the river 16km from Rovaniemi city center.

Your own car is necessary. Parking space is easy to find in front of the cottage. Car heating is also possible.
From your own yard you can go directly to the river for outdoor activities and ice fishing. For the youngest in the family, there is a sledding hill (2 sleds) and the Rautiosaari ski trail starts 300m away.
