- "Spent 4 days discovering Augusta. The accomodation was a traditional older style small 2 bed cabin in a group of 12. Neighbours pretty close by. Cabin was renovated with new kitchen, bathroom fittings, electrical upgrade and aircon. Comfortable in an away from home in the country sort of way. Nice bed, living room furniture a bit tatty, wooden chairs a bit hard. Location quite good though a drive to anywhere. It fitted Augusta’s low key atmosphere. I’d come back."

Nestled on the banks of the mighty Blackwood River, Riverscape, is a short walk to throw a line in, launch your kayak or SUP, an easy walk to town to shop, have coffee or dinner out, also a very short drive to the Colour Patch and the pristine waters of Flinders Bay. The small boat harbour is 4 kms.

The space
The perfect location for families with all that nature and the outdoors have to offer, but also close to the Augusta skatepark and BMX track, kids are safe to have their own adventure on bikes or exploring the banks and shallows of the river.
The cottage (recently refurbished) has a new modern well-equipped kitchen, dining and lounge area with smart TVs & free wifi.
This cottage has a shared BBQ in the central pergola area. The cottage has 2 queen bedrooms, and 1 single bedroom. There is a separate bathroom and WC.
There is a fireplace and bags of wood can be purchased from local business around town in the winter months.
The grounds of Riverscape offer that good old fashioned holiday feel, with a lawn area and shady peppy trees, there is also a communal bbq outdoor dining area and onsite laundry facilities.
There are no laundry facilities in the house. There is a laundrette located on site.
You can enjoy alfresco dining on the front balcony or in the gazebo. You can walk to the river in less than 2 minutes and town in 10 mins.

The Sawmillers Rest is a family beach cottage / part time holiday accomodation in the rugged coastal town of Augusta in the Southwest of Western Australia. We are approximately a 3.5. - 4 hour drive from Perth city( depending on which way you decide to drive ).

The space
The Sawmillers Rest is a little old 1950’s cottage on a large open block, opposite bushland and not far from the beach.

We are situated on the main road out of town heading towards the Cape Leeuwin lighthouse. Capture some stunning views of the Southern ocean with a 10 minute stroll via Brennan and Trigg street to the beach or a quick two minute drive to the beautiful Flinders Bay.

We like to think of our cottage as imperfectly perfect. She is old and sometimes a bit quirky but we love it like that and hope you do too.
You do need to be a little gentle with her.

We welcome pets, and the property can be closed off by shutting the front gates. Please take note of the gaps in the gate ( this may not suit small dogs) to determine the appropriateness for your pet. Please reach out if you have any questions prior to booking .

Fireplace
You are welcome to use the fire during the cooler months, we supply firelighters and matches however you will need to purchase your own wood. You can purchase wood by the bag at most fuel stations (Karridale and Augusta) or a few places sell on the side of the road on the way into town. Please only use if you are confident in the lighting and use of slow combustion fire. We alternatively have reverse cycle air conditioning for your convenience.

TV/Wifi
We have chosen to have no TV and no Wifi at the Sawmillers Rest on purpose, it is a place to unwind, unplug and connect with family and friends and enjoy time together. Please feel free to use the board games, cards and books during your stay.
Mobile reception is very good at the property if you need to hot spot or stream on your own devices and we have a Bluetooth speaker onsite to use at your leisure.

Guest access
You have access to the entire cottage.

Other things to note
We have chosen to have no TV and no wifi at The Sawmillers Rest on purpose. It is a place to unwind and unplug with friends and family and enjoy quality time together. Please feel free to use the board games, cards and books during your stay.

Travelling with kids under 2? We get it, it can be a mission travelling with little ones!
We can provide a porta cot, high chair, and baby bath for your stay if required. Just let us know when you book.

Accommodating 6 people this is a home that offers everything you need for a relaxing holiday. Sit back and watch the sunset over the ocean or the whales at play in the bay from your wine deck.

The space
Accommodating 6 people there are 2 separate bedrooms featuring Queen beds, and another 2 areas with a set of bunk beds in each. Jecks also features a fully equipped kitchen and laundry, bathroom plus separate shower and toilet facilities, and an inviting lounge/dining with views across the cottage garden.
*****An electric log fire is located in the lounge/ Dining area and an electric heater is located in both master bedrooms ****

Guest access
A 20 second walk will have you on the beach.
Turn left or turn right.
Turn left and a leisurely 5 minute stroll along the ocean boardwalk is the river mouth, where you can fish on the Jetty or grab a cuppa at Colourpatch cafe whilst watching the children play on the beautifully landscaped foreshore.
(Which offers free wifi)
Turn right and you'll reach the picturesque historic township of Flinders Bay. Take a swim in one of the secluded beaches along the way. It's spectacular.
Just in general spend time exploring the attractions in town
Make sure you keep an eye out for the local Pelicans and Dolphins that abound in the river. If you're an early bird, don't miss the sunrise over the river mouth.
As you comb the beach you will enjoy the abundant sea and bird life that make their home along this coast line. You may even be lucky enough to spot the whales during their migration. A perfect spot for this is the strategically placed seat located at the “Landing Place”. Check out the stone monument whilst there, and absorb the full history of this iconic area.

To maintain a good standard for our guests we require certain conditions to be complied with. We appreciate most will respect our property but the occasional abuse requires that we state the following conditions.

Number of Guests should not exceed the number stated on the Confirmation Notice or subsequently agreed in writing or email. Fees will apply for excess guests not agreed with the owners in advance.


Bond is payable at the same time as the balance amount. The bond will be refunded within 14 days in full subject to the above conditions being met. It is designed to cover any additional costs incurred including but not limited to, any breakage, damage or excess cleaning requirements, extra guests beyond those declared ..etc.

You’ll find the house fitted out with all the creature comforts you need for a truly relaxing and restorative holiday, but what you’ll also notice is the deliberate exclusion of a television.

For our family, we’ve found this is the best way to bring conversation, laughter, moments of connection and pockets of quiet and tranquillity to our stay. We hope you find the same.

There is a locked shed on site for housekeeping supplies.

The house has two bedrooms, both with queen size beds. The second bedroom also has a petite day bed which is slightly smaller than a standard single bed - suitable for children or small adults.

The beds are decked out in cloud soft linen, complete with hotel grade mattress toppers and pillows to ensure you have the most relaxing sleep possible.

Small-medium well behaved pets are welcome, with prior approval, on the condition that they are not left unattended inside or outside at the house during your stay.
Please bring your fur-baby's bed and bowls with you, and pick up all poops in the yard before you leave.

The driveway is narrow so not suitable for trailers or motorhomes.
