Autzie’s - Beautifully updated, charming guest house rental in historic Hermann, MO. One bedroom, one bath cottage was built in 1850 and is just a very short walk to downtown Hermann where guests can enjoy wineries, museums, shopping and restaurants. Amazing view of the Missouri River, peaceful and quiet neighborhood when you are ready to relax and unwind. Breakfast at a local farm to table restaurant for a small fee, or bring your own groceries and take advantage of our full, modern kitchen.

Peaceful residential neighborhood allows guests to "get away from it all", yet just an easy, short walk to many popular attractions such as Hermann Farm ( our neighbors!), Hermannhof Winery, Tin Mill Brewery, Concert Hall Restaurant & Barrel Bar, Hermann Trolley, Missouri Riverfront, many antique stores and much more!

Getting around

Parking available at the cottage, short walk (5 min) from Amtrak station. Hermann offers several forms of public transportation, they will even personally pick up and drop off guests who make prior arrangements. Public trolleys run throughout the day - traveling between wineries, restaurants and downtown!

Other things to note

Fully equipped kitchen if you want to bring groceries and cook, BBQ charcoal grill, double chamber air mattress for a 3rd guest, three mountain bikes for exploring around town.
Autzie's Riverview Cottage was my grandparent's home for over 40 years from the mid 1940s to 1986. I have so many wonderful, magical memories of spending weekends and summers here, so when I had the opportunity to purchase the cottage in April 2017, there was no question in my mind I had to do it! We lost my grandmother in March of 2016, so the cottage has been lovingly decorated as a tribute to an amazing woman who touched the lives of everyone who knew her. Guests will enjoy stories and pictures of Autzie during their stay, as well as all the fun Hermann MO has to offer!
Although “official” check-in is 4pm, we can almost always accommodate an earlier check-in time.

Queen bed, microwave, mini-refrigerator, coffee pot, seasonal gas fireplace, satellite TV, WiFi, window AC, wall heater, 20 gal water-heater and street parking. We can not accommodate children (which includes babies) or pets. We have two different units so be sure it is the COTTAGE you want to book. *There are security cameras and lights OUTSIDE ONLY. Locations are: the Exterior front of the main home, on the Exterior side of the main home over the steps, and at the Exterior back of the main home covering the patio, backyard and alley entrance. They record video and audio 24/7. They will be on during your reservation. There are NO cameras in personal or indoor spaces. Host lives on site. NO food service. Upon arrival a registration form will need to be signed. Guests may bring a bike lock and lock bikes to a pole out front, take them up the steps to the patio or lock them on your vehicle but they are never allowed in the cottage. The Ivy Cottage is a magical & eclectic private getaway for partners, two friends, or extended stay for remote work, writing, reading. Take a mental health break away from the hustle & bustle of your busy life. Our cottage is walking distance from downtown Hermann restaurants/bars/ live music. Hermann has a vast selection of biking/walking trails, wine, coffee, food, and vintage shops. This is our home away from home, we live here half of the year.

***Please keep in mind all three house rules prior to booking, as they are strictly enforced. 1.) This is a NON-SMOKING property. Absolutely no smoking or vaping on the property, in the cottage, or on the decks. A violation of this will be an additional $500 damage cleaning fee, and an immediate cancellation of your reservation. 2.) This is a two person property, per the permit through the city of Hermann. There is no more than two people allowed at the cottage and on this property at all times. If additional guests show up, you and your guest will be asked to leave. 3.) No pets. I am immunocompromised and this is my family home. Thank you in advance for respecting these three rules.

- "This cottage is absolutely charming. The photos and description truly do not do it justice. Everywhere we looked there was obvious attention to detail from the art on the walls to the well-stocked kitchen. You can see in the photo the is a patio beneath the deck. What you can't see is the steel sheet under the patio that keeps the deck dry and comfortable, even in heavy rain. It was heavenly relaxing in the evening while listening to the rain and wildlife all around us. This is just an example of the careful thought that has gone into the details of this cottage. The cottage truly is a short walk to downtown Hermann. We were able to walk to town every time the urge struck and never felt we needed to take the car whenever we felt like exploring. The comfort, sense of privacy, and convenience balanced into a fantastic experience. It was a pleasure working with our hosts. Alexandria was delight. I'm not exaggerating when I say we were planning our next visit before we had even unpacked our bag."

Heat is provided with a wall heater OR gas fireplace. Air conditioning is a window unit. The hot water heater is 20 gal, but plenty for a couple to shower or bathe. The bed is a queen Serta.

Guests may use the shared back patio with table and chairs. They may enjoy the beautiful rock and flower garden.

If you ignore the no smokers request and show up with smoke on your clothes, you will be turned away without a refund. The Cottage has a wall heater, which if you do not like the sound, can be turned down and you can use the gas fireplace, which keeps the cottage nice and toasty. The air conditioner is a window unit. The hot water heater is 20 gal, plenty for a couple to shower or bathe. The clawfoot tub and shower combo requires that you be able to lift your legs to get in and out. Please note cooking is not allowed in either room. You may reheat food in the microwaves and make coffee, which is provided. Registered guests only in rooms and on property. We cannot accommodate children or babies as the cottage is not child proofed and should not be considered a safe environment for children or babies.)We cannot accommodate pets. Host lives on site. Originally a stable for the Main House (our other listing), the Garden Cottage was built new in 2007 and has since been stylishly designed as a relaxing, private retreat in the BEST location in Hermann's historic district.

A patio with chiminea is between the two and because there is also a fire pit in front of the house, we prefer main guests to use it, saving the back area for the cottage guests. If you make friends and want to share it or don't see anyone else using it, feel free :)

Other things to note
We are located next door to the German School Museum, which has a 130 year old clock tower bell. It chimes every hour, on the hour, depending on the time. (2 chimes at 2am, 3 chimes at 3am, etc.). Many of our guests find it charming, but if you are sensitive to noise, you may not. We do have ear plugs available in case you need them.

The Stone Cottage is a beautiful, spacious 3 bed, 3 bath house that has been completely renovated. It is decorated in Gorgeous Shabby Chic decor. Conveniently located on 6th street. We are a short walk to all the shops, restaurants, & bars in downtown Hermann, less than a mile from Stonehill and Hermannhoff Wineries & are on the trolley route. We comfortably sleep 6 & have additional area for 2 guests. Roku TV for you to login to your favorite streaming service (no cable). Contactless check-in!

Other things to note
The base price is for up to 6 people (2 people per room). For more than 6 people, there is a $25 per person, per night extra guest fee.

The Schroeder Violin Shop offers a very unique experience and is a small private cottage with a California King bed, a stone and brick bathroom, and a front porch with views of Frene Creek and the southern part of town.

The Violin shop has a very narrow, steep set of stairs leading up to the second level where children (or smaller adults) may utilize two twin beds and bean bag chairs.
