Ravello Rose is a fabulous Grade ll Listed thatched cottage in the historic village of Barley, ideal for walking or cycling and close to Cambridge and Duxford Imperial War Museum. Situated in a peaceful lane a ten minute walk from the village centre and 2 pubs, the property has its own front door with entrance porch, well equipped kitchenette, modern shower and toilet, large lounge diner, inglenook and two double bedrooms. There is free parking for one car on our drive.

The space
We're not sure of the exact age of the property but we have documents dating back to 1650. The unusual cottage structure is made of 'cob', which is mostly chalk and which will have been excavated close by. The main roof is water reed topped with a long straw ridge.
Guests should be aware that some of the spaces inside the cottage, particularly the doorways upstairs, are quite low. Remember to duck when you get up in the morning!

The B&B is a self contained house with its own front door. We live next door and I'm usually around if you need anything, or want any advice on things to do locally or amenities and services. You'll find a pretty comprehensive House Manual when you arrive.
We have a large garden which has great views and which you can generally use if we're not. If you're lucky you may see the fallow deer who seem to like the taste of our trees, plus badgers, foxes, and many birds including a pair of woodpeckers. The garden faces north west so you may catch the sun setting over the uninterrupted view over the rolling Hertfordshire countryside.
You can also use our observatory at the top of the garden which has a heater and lights which turn on at dusk. A great spot to watch the sun set with a glass of wine.
We also have a number of beehives which are signposted and easily avoided.

Other things to note
The kitchenette has facilities including an air fryer, a single induction hob, combined oven and microwave, slow cooker, egg steamer, toaster and kettle.
The single parking space is directly in front of the house and to the right of the drive. Please don't leave your car on the main drive or park on the left hand side as this belongs to our friendly neighbour and is in regular use.
The fireplace has been decommissioned due to changed rules regarding the thatch, so cannot be used. There is a flame effect lamp in the stove which can be turned on via a switch to the left of the inglenook.

The Coach House is a large, spacious cottage (2,000 sq ft) with three double bedrooms which has been recently renovated . It is located between the villages of Long Marston and Wingrave in a quiet, rural location. It is close to Tring and the Chiltern Hills and London is easy to get to from Leighton Buzzard station (35 mins to Euston) which is 15 minutes away. Plenty of good pubs in the vicinity, varied walks, National Trust properties, Bletchley Park museum and Whipsnade Zoo.

The space
The Coach House to Boarscroft farm was converted to a house about 25 years ago and was comprehensively renovated 5 years ago. It is a spacious house (over 2,000 square feet) with three double bedrooms and two shower-rooms, one of them is en-suite.

Downstairs there is a large sitting room with an open fireplace and a piano, a play-room (which can also be used as an office) with games including table football There is a downstairs lavatory off the hallway. The dining area leads into the new kitchen which has an electric 4 oven AGA and a separate electric oven and hob, a microwave and a dishwasher. Off the kitchen is a utility room with a washing machine, tumble drier and fridge-freezer and all the usual domestic appliances. From the utility area the outside door leads to a garden with a large sheltered patio which gets the sun in the afternoon and evening.

Upstairs there are three double bedrooms; the largest bedroom has a king size sleigh bed and an en-suite shower room. There is another bedroom with a double bed and the third bedroom has two single beds. There is a separate shower room for the use of these two bedrooms.

The Coach House is next to Boarscroft house, with private access via an electric gate. There is dedicated parking for two cars next to the Coach House. If you are bringing more than two cars please let us know in advance.

The kitchen is stocked with the basics, please replace any items that you use up.

There is an electric oven and hob in the kitchen so normally the AGA isn't turned on to save energy. Let us know if you would like the AGA to be turned on so that you can cook with it.

We provide a full log basket of logs in the sitting room for each booking which is usually enough to have a fire on two evenings. If you are staying for longer and would like more logs then we can provide them at a cost of £10 per basketful.

Our bantam chickens roam the garden at Boarscroft during the day, but you are unlikely to hear them.

Please note, that we do not allow children under 12 to stay in the house as it isn't equipped for them and we have had problems in the past with children drawing on the walls, leaving food and sticky sweets on the carpets and other issues that are too unpleasant to mention.

We offer a reduced booking rate for longer stays. A discount of 20% for stays of one week to 27 days and a reduction of 50% for stays of 28 days and longer.

Cosy 3 bed grade 2 listed cottage attached to an Old Rectory, our family home set in over 7 acres of formal gardens and woodlands. The cottage has its own private garden area with tables and chairs, BBQ and fire pit.
We also have a newly refurbished tennis court which we are happy for guests to use by arrangement.
There are public footpaths accessed from the property.
Unlimited secure off road parking.
Close to Hitchin, Stevenage and Letchworth.
London and Cambridge 30mins by train.

The space
The Cottage comfortably sleeps 5 adults with 1 main bathroom with bath and shower . Plus an additional shower room and separate toilet. The master bedroom also has a sink. Travel cot available on request. Full use of Laundry (shared with owners but separate access for each party).

The Cottage is accessed up the main long drive way to The Old Rectory and is next door to our main residence.

We have a friendly golden retriever called Maggie and a black and white cat called Eric. We occasionally look after our daughters dog who is also friendly.
