- "Lily pad could be wonderful. Its setting is beautiful. I was really looking forward to staying. However the lodge is damp and the heating is wholly inadequate, the macerator in the shower room had leaked under the laminate floor and was still leaking on my arrival. The property was a health hazard. It stank and the noise of the macerator and vent was horribly noisy. Paymán expected me to stay let a handyman try and fixit.he was due to get to me in an hour. I had arrived at 5:40 at 6:50they suggested they send a handyman. I was staying for one night. Not something I was prepared to do. The attitude of Paymán was despicable. They have still only issued a partial refund. Good luck if you have to deal with them. Hotel.com are unable to help unless Paymán agree? They have clearly had issues in the past with previous guests. Ask to see the terms and conditions before you part with money. They take a hefty deposit before you get a key."

- "I didn't receive any instructions for self check in until I called the letting agent. The property is dark and dingy. It smelled damp and was cluttered with unnecessary furniture (large sofa foot stool, 4 armchairs, 4chairs, fridge freezer & non working fridge, for a double room). The decor is very worn with signs of damage. The carpets are stained. The external area was very overgrown with weeds. The TV remote didn't work and there was no TV ariel connected. The undercounter lights flashed on an off at random. When I checked under the bed before leaving I found clumps of dust, showing it hadn't been vacuumed for some time. Parking was extremely tight for my car with only one space for 2 rooms. On my last night I was unable to park in the allocated space."

An awarded Airbnb Superhost and with Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence, Number Eleven is possibly the only 170 year old labourer’s cottage with an outdoor sauna! Located in the quintessential village of Great Gransden, the cottage provides a luxurious base with which to explore Cambridgeshire and the East of England. Number Eleven also makes an ideal base for visiting academics or parents to Cambridge University that don’t wish to be in the middle of town.
We want to ensure that you have the best possible stay here. Number Eleven is run by Andy next door. It’s my job, not a hobby or an investment so I want to do it properly. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help. I try to be as ecologically minded as I can be and make Number Eleven as interesting and comfortable as possible.
Number Eleven is different. You probably only need to remember your PJs and toothbrush! Pamper yourself with locally made natural soap, a Faith in Nature shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom. Or relax in the sauna........
Have a look at the design collections through the decades in the cottage, and revel in the analogue world of the mix tape! For all 80's audio boffs, there's a Pioneer amp and speakers, and Technics cassette deck for use. Go, on dig out your mix tapes and bring them with you. Your phone doesn't care about you and your iPod's dying. (Plug in aux facilities for your phone are available.....)
Downstairs is a cosy living room with an inglenook fireplace almost the depth of the house and nearly the height of the room! A fire pack is ready to go upon arrival, and logs/coal can then be purchased separately from local shops for the remainder of your stay. The whole house is also heated by Fischer Future Heat radiators. A 43" TV in the lounge also streams the web with access to your Netflix account.
The kitchen is custom fitted with a ceramic hob and bright red resin worktops. Fridge/washing machine, iron/board are all included. Drying facilities are available if required. Filtered water on tap. Bespoke hand made crockery is from the Isle of Skye made by Edinbane Pottery; ask us about how it came to be.
Both bedrooms have double beds with high count quality bedding, storage, hanging facilities, bedside lights, chairs, DVD players, radios with aux facilities, charging cables and make up/shaving mirrors.
The bathroom has a powerful digital shower, bath, sink, toilet and a bar of naturally locally made soap. High quality shampoo and moisturisers are also provided along with cotton wool pads and buds (not plastic!).
Babies and children are well catered for with cot, changing mat, bath, stool, toys and games galore.
Please note that guests 5 and 6 will be accommodated on a comfortable sofa-bed in the lounge. There is a £20 charge for this to cover extra laundry costs and it must be booked prior to arrival. The amount will be requested from you once you have booked and paid, online or on arrival.
Dogs are welcome with prior notice given at the time of booking; throws, towels and bowls are provided in the Pooch Pouffe in the lounge. Please keep them off the furniture (who chose that sofa?). If Fido's not 100% happy with this arrangement, please use the throws provided in the Pooch Pouffe!

- "The barn was spotlessly clean, warm and very comfortable with the added cheer of a Christmas tree and welcome pack of a fruit bowl and milk. We weren't sure how a winter holiday just before Christmas would work out but we were blessed with mainly mild and sunny weather so managed to get out every day. We enjoyed the wild scape of Wicken Fen and saw Hen Harriers coming in at the roost, the Winter garden at Anglesey Abbey, Kingfisher Bridge nature reserve, Welney Wetlands (quite flooded) and a wander around Ely. We look forward to returning in the summer when hopefully we can enjoy sitting in the garden too. A very relaxing and enjoyable stay that exceeded expectations. Thank you! Unwind completely in this detached private lodge, overlooking a large natural pond, abundant with wildlife. Breathe the fresh air. Listen to the birds. Relax.
Within 10 minutes walk there are excellent food shops and award-winning cafes and restaurants. All this just 8 miles from historic Cambridge.
The lodge has a light and spacious living room overlooking the orchard and pond. It’s a fantastic place to relax and read, listen to music and just enjoy watching the wildlife. The pond attracts dragonflies and damselflies, finches, tits and many other small birds, and even a visiting kingfisher. It’s a wildlife haven, including newts and toads, woodpeckers, owls, and you may even see the occasional badger.
There’s a desk and chair for home working, and we have super fast wifi. There’s also an excellent variety of books, magazines and games to keep you entertained.
The kitchen is fully equipped with quality appliances and plenty of crockery. It’s a great place to cook, we have several nearby delicatessens and food stores and the lodge even has its own herb garden. There’s a BBQ and outdoor furniture for al fresco meals.
The bedroom is very comfortable and cosy, and beautifully lit. We supply hypoallergenic bedding and Egyptian cotton bed linen. You are virtually guaranteed a good nights sleep.
The en-suite shower room has a rain drench shower head and hand held attachment. It’s well stocked with quality toiletries and plenty of fluffy towels.
There's a small double sofa bed (really only comfortable for one person) in the living room, so three people can be accommodated if required.
During colder months the lodge is toasty warm with underfloor heating and constant hot water. There are plenty of warm, cosy blankets to make lounging around super snuggly.
The building is extremely well ventilated, with velux roof lights and windows to all aspects. Huge picture windows bring in lots of light and wonderful views at any time of year.
The lodge is situated in an old orchard with a large natural pond, with its own private garden. There's a stone patio with comfortable chairs and a separate lawned private garden with BBQ, table and chairs.
Guests are also welcome to walk through our gardens where we have some lovely sculptures and nice places to sit and relax. The meadow leads to a public footpath network with some wonderful walks around the village and beyond. There are some lovely longer walks along a brook and across open countryside to great pubs and restaurants.
In separate meadows we keep Coloured Ryeland sheep, one of England’s oldest breeds, dating back more than seven centuries. They are very cute and very friendly. In the spring and summer months we keep Gloucester Old Spot pigs. They’re very funny to watch, a great source of entertainment. We also keep rare breed chickens and there are hives with honey bees in a quiet corner of the meadow. Our guests are free to wander round and enjoy the animals, we just ask that you close any gates behind you.
If you’re in the gardens or meadow you will probably meet our flat coated retriever, Wilma. She’s very friendly and enthusiastic! And we love to meet our guests, so if you find us working or just chilling outside, please so do come and say hello.
- "Stunning space in a beautiful location. Quiet relaxing and calming. Lovely touches including automatic night lights, Christmas decorated tree outside (definitely going to steal this idea), very generous welcome pack. Fabulous shower and comfy bed. Lovely walks on the doorstep and a great local cafe for brunch. We could keep going with the positives! Alistair and Julie were very attentive and lovely hosts. Highly recommended. " - "Our recent stay at Rosemead Lodge was just perfect. An idyllic oasis, hidden away amongst the Cambridgeshire countryside, just a few minutes’ walk from the delightful village of Bourn. The Lodge is situated in the grounds of the owner’s home, in an extremely picturesque setting. While there, we had ample opportunity to see the varied wildlife and witnessed a constant stream of garden and woodland birds close-up. Robins, wrens, finches, magpies, woodpeckers and even a couple of owls! The modern interior design of the lodge made our visit very comfortable, and it was fully equipped with everything we needed during our stay. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful with tips on places to go and see, as well as recommendations for dining out. We will definitely be back…"

- "This is a lovely, spacious and well-appointed house. It was too hot to make best use of the duvets, but the beds were very comfortable. There was plenty of crockery and cutlery - and a dishwasher to avoid the washing up. The powered recliners were especially welcome after a day of much walking. Naturally there is quite a lot of farm activity in the area, but it was far enough away not to be intrusive, and the people on the farm were very friendly and welcoming. Definitely a property to remember."

Clopton Courtyard is set in the midst of the beautiful Cambridgeshire countryside. Alice Barn is one of a series of six barns that have been built with an eco conscience, with timber frame structures and recycled building materials. They are also fuelled by a biomass boiler using renewable energy (which keeps the underfloor heating toasty warm).
Alice Barn has the feel of a funky Shoreditch warehouse apartment, with up-cycled furniture, quirky prints and stunning views. It has its very own private hot tub, set within a semi enclosed garden, with gorgeous views across the fields.
Alice Barn offers two bedrooms and an open plan living, dining and kitchen space, plus a bathroom with walk-in shower. There is also plenty of shared outdoor space in which to venture and relax, with lovely undisturbed views of the open countryside. You can sit and watch the horses in the livery next door or read a book in the sun trap courtyard with a glass of bubbles.
With Cambridge only 12 miles away (20 minute drive), it is easy access into the centre by car for those wishing to explore this historic city, whilst also looking for a quiet and peaceful holiday or work environment, or somewhere lovely to celebrate a special occasion. There is also plenty to do locally including Burwash Manor, Wimpole Hall and lots of tasty gastro pubs a short drive away. With The Wood Grill Pub also accessible by foot along The Clopton Way (or more quickly via the road).
Clopton Courtyard is fully equipped for those looking for self catering accommodation but who want a little bit of extra luxury and peace. What makes this place special is the unique nature of the interiors, which have been designed to provide premium accommodation in a rural setting.
For more information, please get in touch and we'll be happy to help. We look forward to welcoming you to Clopton Courtyard and hope you like the barns as much as we do.

Sally generally keeps to herself but is on hand should you need anything so feel free to say hi. We invite you to explore the entire Garden and make yourselves at home.
