One bedroom self catering cottage surrounded by indigenous trees, beautiful plants and a huge paradisiacal garden. The cottage has a private garden and an outdoor sitting area with table and two chairs, where you can relax ,read a book or enjoy your morning coffee as you listen to bird chirping. The neighborhood is very secure and very peaceful to enjoy morning/evening walks/jogs. We have a badminton pitch and rackets that you can use.
The space
The cottage is in a serene environment midst beautiful trees. Occasionally you will hear wild noises of bush babies and tree hyrax at night. We have monkeys coming to the compound occasionally . It is advisable to leave doors and windows closed. The neighborhood is safe and quiet. It is lovely to take a walk or a jog-leave valuables at home. We are very close to ; Nairobi National park ,David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and giraffe center.
We connect volunteers with projects close by. There is a women safe house and a dog shelter where volunteers can offer their skills and impact the community positively. You can also volunteer with our sports for Change Maasai families . They need designers for their beads work , teachers to volunteer in their schools and teens education

Guest can access the laundry which is in a different area. There is a house keeper to help with house cleaning. laundry and cooking is arranged at ax extra cost..The kitchen is well equipped , guests can ask for extra utencils if needed.

One spacious bedroom rustic cottage on a serene garden compound full of indigenous trees/flowers. It is a haven for bird watchers and nature lovers. The surrounding area is in a very safe and quiet neighborhood ,excellent for quiet morning, evening strolls or even a jog/run. The bedroom has a veranda where one can relax, work and enjoy the lush garden.

This is a beutiful one bedroom rustic cottage complete with a loft tv room that is equipped with a sofa , couch bed, comfortable office desk and chair all to make your stay comfortable and memorable.
The sitting area has comfortable sofas and antique dinning set. The kitchen is well equipped, just bring food.
There are two routers to cover the whole house. You will enjoy unlimited wifi for your work or movies.
There are three other cottages within the compound comprising a mixed cultural international blend of inhabitants, with everyone being very social and friendly.
This cottage is adjacent our cottage, you are welcome to stop by for a cup of tea or just to say hello. We have a dog named Pendo.

Sometimes a few sneaky monkeys may visit the trees within the compound. Guests can interact with them BUT avoid feeding them. The equally harmless Tree Hyrax and Bush baby often come out at night, and their characteristic night conversations make such interesting listening to!

Giraffe centre is 15-20 minutes walk from the house. Best time to visit is 9-10am before it is crowded.
Ololua forest is 10 mins drive from us..you can do 1-2 hours easy beautiful walk.
Nairobi national park is 10 -15 mins drive from us.. morning drives are the best for sighting animals.
Elephant orphanage is also 10-15 mins from us..it is an nice experience to watch baby elephants been feed and learn how the Centre rescue and take care of them.

A lovely 1 bedroom house nestled in a serene & sort after area of Muthaiga. The cottage is set in the "green" area of Nairobi bordering the famous Karura Forest. We are located close to shopping malls, hospitals, schools & restaurants. Inside the cottage is an open plan lounge with wood burning stove, kitchen & dinning. The bedroom has a king-size bed & bay window with views over the forest. Attached to the cottage is a garden, perfect to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning.

The space
Hornbill cottage has its own private gate & parking which leads down some stairs & a path through the garden to a stand alone quaint Spanish inspired cottage. Inside there is an open plan sitting room, kitchen & dinning with sky-high ceilings with exposed beams. Large comfy sofas & a cozy fireplace with a wood burning stove are located at one end of the cottage. There is Netflix and Amazon Prime on a flat screen TV & the WIFI is installed throughout the cottage. Please remember to sign out of your account when you leave. There are also plenty of reading books for you to enjoy, please do not take these with you as they belong to the owners. If you wish to take one please speak to me directly. The other end is the kitchen with an attached pantry with fridge/freezer & a side door towards the outside BBQ. Hornbill has a fantastic L-shaped kitchen, that houses all your essentials to feel comfdotably at home. The kitchen itself is well equipped with all cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery you may need. There is a gas stove with gas oven. There is also a toaster, kettle, blender, microwave and stove top coffee maker. The bathroom is located off the sitting room area with a shower and plenty of fresh cozy towels. The bedroom has a large king-size bed, plenty of wardrobe space & a large bay window with amazing 180° views over the indigenous Karura forests & garden beyond. The bedroom also has a large mosquito net for that extra comfort. Crisp neutral bedlinen is guaranteed for that perfect nights sleep after long day at work or journey. Black out curtains in the bedroom are an extra luxury to help with that jetlag or just want to get a few more hours of sleep.
Laundry is included in the daily price. Please inform our house keeper if you would like it done and leave the items in the bathroom laundry basket.
We also have a back up generator in case of power outages. This will automatically come on if there is a power cut and this is done by the night and day watchmen. There may be a few minutes of delay whilst this is coming on, but this is supplied 24/7 in case of power outages.

Muthaiga is located close to all amenities. It is a fantastic neighbourhood for walks with the family or getting that run done which you have missed out of.

Other things to note
The cottage shares the property with the main house but it is completely separate and private to it. On occasion you may be visited by some very friendly dogs. This is only when the owners are there, but it is their holiday home so this is not often. The dogs will of course be kept away, but they may “escape” just so they can come say hi!
