Loon Lodge is a super cute 1-bedroom, 1-bath dog-friendly lakefront cottage on Van Etten Lake, just north of Oscoda and just inland from Lake Huron! The home features a private dock, lakeside bonfire ring, a propane grill, outdoor dining, and a lovely sunroom with a great view of the lake! The home also has Wi-Fi, streaming television, wall A/C unit, washer, dryer, and a beautiful recently-updated bathroom. Provides for a fun getaway to northeast Michigan for couples or small families!

NEIGHBORHOOD:

The neighborhood consists of lakefront homes, which are primarily vacation and second homes. A number of retirees live in the area. It is expected that guests will help to keep the neighborhood pleasantly quiet and peaceful. The home is only a 5-minute drive from downtown Oscoda.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

1) KAYAKS: The kayaks belong to the owners and are not to be used by guests.

2) PETS: Up to 3 dogs are permitted. More than 3 dogs or any kind of pet other than dogs is strictly prohibited. Please make certain that the pet fee is paid if bringing 1 to 3 dogs.

3) AIR CONDITIONING: The property has a wall air conditioning unit. Note that it does NOT have central air conditioning.

4) NUMBER OF GUESTS: Please note that our pricing is based upon the number of guests, with pricing being higher with each additional guest that is included on the reservation. Please make certain that the correct number of guests is specified on the reservation so that the pricing is correct.

5) EARLY CHECK-IN: Our policy is to allow early check-in on the day of arrival if the property is available for check-in. Travel down River Road scenic by-way named Michigan's most scenic drive by Big Seven Travel, which cuts through the Huron National Forest, with many stopping points such as Lumberman's Monument and gorgeous Iargo Springs. Our newly renovated cozy 2bdrm, 1 bath cottage is just a short distance from the beautiful beaches of Lake Huron. The River Sweet Cottage is a fully equipped, and well-maintained home with all the amenities to provide a memorable vacation. Coastal inspired décor surrounds you inside and out at the River Sweet cottage. New furniture, mattresses, tv’s, heat/AC, bathroom linens and bedding all provided. The comfort extends to the large partially covered deck with new furnishings, a large gas fire table to snuggle up too on the cooler evenings, solar lighting, gas grill and a picnic table. - "This home was very well appointed and located very close to town, right on the Au Sable river! We stayed here spring break/Easter weekend to do some fishing and get away and the best part of the trip was definitely this house. The weather didn't cooperate to allow our littles to get outside much (2 and 6 yo), but the home was cozy, stocked with board games, cards and puzzles, and smart TVs in both bedrooms and the living room. The kitchen was stocked with everything we could have needed, including coffee which was great when we realized we forgot to bring some. Even spices, extra cleaning and paper products, and some pantry staples which is rarely the case with vacation rentals! The hosts were super kind and loaned us some extra fishing tackle for the kids, left us some tasty treats in the house to welcome us, and even left some sweet little Easter baskets for the kids on Easter morning! Located at the end of a no-outlet street, Cottage Cove is tucked away from traffic and noise. Enjoy the private beach or walk along Lake Huron shore to the Oscoda boardwalk and public park with plenty of activities for the kids: a splash pad, playground, skate park, and even more sugar-sand beach.

Stay connected with reliable, high speed internet throughout the entire property. When the weather's not cooperating, chill out inside with a movie on the smart HDTV or games at the table.

ACCOMMODATIONS

LOCATION

The rental cottage is located on a short, no-outlet street on Lake Huron and is a part of Cottage Cove by Hunger & Ransom. As close as we are the water, it’s less than a mile walk to the downtown area where you can grab dinner, get drinks, cool off with some ice cream and even watch a movie at the local theater.

River Road—a national scenic bypass—runs into downtown Oscoda and has numerous activities along it’s 19 mile length: including, the AuSable River Queen Boat Cruise (gorgeous during Autumn leaves season), canoeing/tubing launches and Lumberman’s Monument Park.

Tawas is a short 20 minute drive from the resort and boasts additional restaurants, activities, and shopping. Like Oscoda, you'll have your pick of weekend events every week during the summer.

With the Huron National Forest on Oscoda’s border, there are hundreds of outdoor activities within close range. Whether you’ve been coming to the area for a lifetime or this is your first trip, there’s always something new and exciting to do.

I.e clean up after yourself and treat the property as if it were your own. We think this is a place you’ll want to stay again after you experience it the first time.

++WHAT TO EXPECT++

Each of our vacation rentals possess distinct traits, and we consider it essential for you to be aware of these prior to your visit. Our goal is to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience; understanding these differences from your home can contribute to a great stay.

++SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS++

SHARED SPACES: This cottage is part of a shared property. Consequently, the outdoor space and beach are shared with other guests. We anticipate everyone to respect others' enjoyment. Rest assured, the interior of your cottage remains completely private and personal throughout your stay.

BEDDING/TOWELS: Bedding and towels are not included in this rental. Each mattress and the provided pillows are protected with waterproof, zippered covers. Don't forget to pack bed sheets, pillowcases and blankets in addition to bath, beach and hand towels.

DOG-FRIENDLY: Cottage Cove welcomes dogs. Even if you're not traveling with a pet, expect to see dogs in shared areas. Bear this in mind when booking, especially if you have allergies or plan to bring your dog. Dogs must be on 6ft leashes whenever outside the rental (including the beach), and owners must clean up after their pets immediately.

CLEANLINESS: We prioritize offering a clean environment for your vacation. Every appliance, surface, and fixture is thoroughly cleaned between stays. However, there are some points to note.

• We are pet-friendly, so a few stray hairs may evade our cleaning.

• Our spacious, circular driveway is a great playground for kids and provides a smooth walking surface. However, it can lead to oil from the asphalt being tracked into the cottage: especially, when guests walk barefoot from the beach. Despite our diligent cleaning efforts, the asphalt can sometimes leave marks on the cottage floors and bathtubs.

• With the beach comes sand, which we endeavor to remove completely. However, if we miss a few grains, rest assured they've been mopped, sprayed, or wiped clean.

• We make every effort to keep our upholstered furniture and carpets clean. However, due to the nature of rental properties and limited time during our rental season, some stains may not be completely removable. We appreciate your understanding.

• Some appliances might not appear spotless due to exterior rust or old paint jobs. We replace appliances as time and resources permit, and ensure they are cleaned between stays.

• Please note, these points are not meant to excuse substandard cleaning. If you ever feel our cleaning is insufficient, let us know immediately, and we'll rectify the situation.

HOT WATER: This cottage has a smaller water heater than you may be accustomed to at home. Prolonged or extremely hot showers might be challenging, especially in cold weather. Spacing out showers, dishwashing, and other hot water use usually solves the issue. If this poses a concern, consider booking one of our larger cottages with more substantial water heaters.

COASTAL LIVING CHALLENGES: Our vacation rental homes are located on Lake Huron's shore, close to the Huron National Forest. Given our location and the age of our properties, please be aware of the following.

• Ants and other insects may find their way into the cottage, despite regular pest control efforts. You can help by maintaining food cleanliness and immediately cleaning spills/crumbs.

• Rarely, mice may get past our precautions, especially during cooler weather. It's unlikely but worth considering when deciding to book.

• The location's humidity and higher water table might introduce unfamiliar smells. We assure you, however, that these scents don't indicate mold, and your health is our priority. Every rental is regularly inspected. During especially humid periods, you may find a dehumidifier in your rental.

ACCESSIBILITY: Our cottages are not handicap-accessible. Most doorways are narrow, and some spaces may present obstacles for those with mobility issues. Please review all photos to assess suitability before booking.

PROVIDED ITEMS: To simplify your packing, we supply essentials for your trip, but with certain limitations to stay competitive.

• Sanitary Items: Expect roughly 1 roll of paper towel, 1 roll of toilet paper per bathroom, hand soap, dish soap and 2 trash bags.

• Kitchenware: We provide dinnerware to accommodate the maximum number of guests, plus basic cookware. e.g. at least 1 saucepan, 1 frypan and simple cooking utensils.

River Road—a national scenic bypass—runs into downtown Oscoda and has numerous activities along it’s 19 mile length: including, the AuSable River Queen Boat Cruise (gorgeous during Autumn leaves season), canoeing/tubing launches and Lumberman’s Monument Park.

Tawas is a short 20 minute drive from the resort and boasts additional restaurants, activities, and shopping. Like Oscoda, you'll have your pick of weekend events every week during the summer.

- "This location is UNBELIEVABLE, literally right on Lake Huron. We walked out all weekend to enjoy the views. Space is small and rustic…feels like staying at my grandma’s cottage but WiFi worked great and there was cable on TV if we wanted to be inside. Bike path along road that went all the way to town. We had an unseasonably cold weekend but blankets and space heaters kept us cozy. Hosts were quick to respond to our one minor issue (coffee maker wasn’t in the unit, they brought one right over). There were two bedrooms but it seems like it might have been small for more than two adults. But DH and I were cozy and really enjoyed our stay! Thanks!!!"

SHARED SPACES: This cottage shares beach access with our next-door property, Cottage Cove. Consequently, the beach is shared with other guests and the possibility of dogs.

CLEANLINESS: We prioritize offering a clean environment for your vacation. Every linen, appliance, surface, and fixture is thoroughly cleaned between stays. However, there are some points to note.

• Our spacious, circular driveway at our next-door property, Cottage Cove, is a great playground for kids and provides a smooth walking surface. However, it can lead to oil being tracked into the cottage from the asphalt, especially when guests walk barefoot from the beach. Despite our diligent cleaning efforts, the asphalt can sometimes leave oil marks on the cottage floors and bathtubs.

• With the beach comes sand, which we endeavor to remove completely. However, if we miss a few grains, rest assured they've been mopped, sprayed, or wiped clean.

• Some appliances might not appear spotless due to exterior rust or old paint jobs. We replace appliances as time and resources permit, and ensure they are cleaned between stays.

• Please note, these points are not meant to excuse substandard cleaning. If you ever feel our cleaning is insufficient, let us know immediately, and we'll rectify the situation.

COASTAL LIVING CHALLENGES: Our vacation rental homes are located on Lake Huron's shore, close to the Huron National Forest. Given our location and the age of our properties, please be aware of the following.

• Ants and other insects may find their way into the cottage, despite regular pest control efforts. You can help by maintaining food cleanliness and immediate cleanup.

• Rarely, mice may get past our precautions, especially during cooler weather. It's unlikely but worth considering when deciding to book.

ACCESSIBILITY: Our cottages are not handicap-accessible. Most doorways are narrow, and some spaces may present obstacles for those with mobility issues. Please review all photos to assess suitability before booking.

PROVIDED ITEMS: To simplify your packing, we supply essentials for your trip, but with certain limitations to stay competitive.

• Sanitary Items: Expect roughly 1 roll of paper towel, 1 roll of toilet paper per bathroom, and 2 trash bags.

• Linens/Bedding: We provide each guest with 1 towel and 1 washcloth, based on the cottage's occupancy limit. Each bed is fitted with a flat sheet, a fitted sheet, pillows with cases, and a light quilt. In the bathrooms, you'll find 1 floor towel and 1 hand towel. The kitchen is equipped with 1 dishcloth and 1 dish towel. Please note that we do not offer towel exchange services, nor do we provide extra linens beyond what is mentioned here.

• Kitchenware: We provide dinnerware to accommodate the maximum number of guests, plus basic cookware. e.g. at least 1 saucepan, 1 frypan and simple cooking utensils.

One of six cottages in Anchorage Cottages & Retreat Center. Not direct lake view, but the water in only a few feet away. Wifi is spotty, so if you need to relax and disconnect, this cottage would be perfect for you. No pets allowed. There is some road noise, as we are right on US-23. We have limited beach space but the view is spectacular in any season!

This is a simple and clean, fully furnished, two-bedroom cottage that overlooks and accesses a sandy beach on Lake Huron. Watch the sun rise over the Lake from the kitchen or living room! Maximum relaxation and no crowds but your own!

With 1 queen side bed, one full size bed, one queen size sofa sleeper, and one single size sofa sleeper, this room can technically fit up to 7 people. Due to the single bathroom, however, we recommend limiting this to the equivalent of 4 adults; but the many sleeping locations offers great flexibility for children!

The property also offers the use of 3 additionally shared decks, fire pits, charcoal grills, a playground, volleyball net, basketball hoop, and convenient access to a party store (Pete's) within walking distance.

Surfside is located close to many outdoor activities; Tubing/kayaking/canoeing on the Au Sable, hiking in the Huron National Forest, taking a riverboat cruise on the Au Sable, or just taking a long walk on the beach.

A down to earth 4 bedroom, 2 bath home with central heat and air nestled in the woods that features a theater room, full kitchen, 2 eating areas, large gathering room, a huge covered front porch. Hideout Saloon with pool table, foosball, darts, and custom bar. Parking for trailers with RV hookup(xtra). 4 ft fire ring perfect for cooking, making s'mores, or just relaxing. Onsite washer/dryer. Tankless water heater. 1 mile from the beach and town. No bathtub, sleeps 11 in beds + 4-5 on couches

The space
This is our family vacation home that we enjoy and wish to share with you. The security deposit will be refunded upon post rental inspection. Please treat our place with respect and leave it as clean as you find it and keep in mind that the area is very sandy, so you may find sand on the floors.

You may find condiments and items in the fridge or freezer that belong to us. You are welcome to use them if you do not have any.

This place was built by our grandfather in the 1940's. It was remodeled to give some needed updates. All of the log beds were made by us from trees off the property.

There are separate sounds systems so that you can watch a movie on the projector in the Living Room and listen to music in the family room and/or kitchen areas. There are some DVD's onsite or bring your own. (Bluray player).

All bedrooms have smart TV or Blu-ray player.

The kitchen is equipped with coffee pot, dishware, cups, glasses, silverware, cooking utensils, pots, griddle, crock pot, toaster, microwave, stove, baking sheet, mixing bowls, measuring cups just to name a few items.

The Hideout Saloon is located in our big red pole barn and includes a sound system as well. Checkout the pictures as this is super unique amongst rental properties in the area.

Have friends or family that have an RV. Invite them along. We have a 30amp service out by the Hideout Saloon for just $25 a night. Be sure to bring a lot of hose as there is no water out there.

The sliding door to the bathroom and most of the wood trim throughout the house was wood that our Grandfather set aside in the 1950's.

Please make sure that you look through the rule book sitting on the murphy bar in the kitchen.

You will have access to the entire house with the exception of our locked personal storage area in the Family Room.

Our indoor game room aka Hideout Saloon, is now open. This space is available for you to use and has a pool table, foosball table, dart board, and custom made bar.
Please use this space, but do not judge our AirBnb review on this space as it is a bonus amenity and may not be the cleanest out there as it is located inside a pole barn surrounded by trees. Please clean up afterwards.
There are pictures of the space on our listing. We are fashioning it to look like a northwoods saloon where you might find lumberjack or railroad worker hanging around. It is a great place to pass the time rain or shine without leaving the property.

Other things to note
Parts of the house are wheel chair accessible. The living room, bathroom 2, and the kitchen can easily be accessed and feature 3 foot doors. Access to bedrooms 1 and 2 are manageable for someone who can walk a small distance. Bedrooms 3 and 4 are upstairs at the top of ungated stairs.

This adorable year 'round cottage features classic tongue and groove cedar interior and is located a quick 2-minute walk to 3-Mile Beach. It is a beautiful sandy beach on Lake Huron, with sandy bottom and crystal-clear water. Known as the "Sunrise Coast", it offers spectacular sunrises and a quaint town with all major amenities. It offers 3 bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms with 5 beds and 2 family rooms for gathering. There is a fee of $20/night/person over 6 guests.

The space
This adorable year 'round cottage features classic tongue and groove cedar interior and is located a quick 2 minute walk to 3-Mile Beach. It is a beautiful sandy beach on Lake Huron, with a sandy bottom and crystal clear water. Known as the "Sunrise Coast", it offers spectacular sunrises and a quaint town with all major amenities. Located just minutes from the beautiful AuSable River, It's a fishermans dream! You can try your luck at Salmon, Steelhead, Brown Trout, Lake Trout, Walleye and Perch to name a few. Bring your own boat or take advantage of the many Fishing Charters available in the area.
There are numerous hiking and biking trails in the area as well as canoe and kayak rentals for the outdoor enthusiasts.
The cottage offers 2 bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms with 5 beds and 2 family rooms for gathering. There is also a full-size bed/dresser in the laundry area. We don't list it as a bedroom but it does provide overflow sleeping.
The cottage is inviting, cozy and comfortable. We welcome you to kick back on the wrap-around porch or enjoy the evening around the built-in fire pit. There is a galley kitchen with an antique bakers table that seats 6. There are 2 family area's to enjoy and a beautiful stone fireplace in the living room. (Please note that it is not currently functional). There is a downstairs bedroom with a queen size bed and ensuite half bath. We recently added a 5th double bed downstairs. There is a full size bath with a tub/shower upstairs. There is another large bedroom upstairs that features 3 full-size beds. We provide all towels, linens and bedding, pots, pans, dishes, silverware - everything you might need to prepare your meals onsite. The cottage is well insulated and has a new furnace for chilly nights and central AC for warm nights. All bedding, mattresses, and sofas are brand new. We have made it easy to enjoy with everything you will need to make some great family memories. We also have 2 kayaks .

Guests will have access to the entire cottage, and it will not be shared.
The garage is off limits to guests.

Other things to note
The beautiful stone fireplace is operational this year but gas will be turned off for safety from March - September.

There is a fire pit in the back yard. Wood is available for your use. NO large fires and no fireworks allowed.

There is a hammock in the woods behind house for relaxing.

Wildlife disclaimer.

Coming to beautiful Northern Michigan includes the possibility of wildlife encounters. We have midges, spiders, mosquitos, occasionally black flies and an assortment of other insects. We spray regularly to keep them at a manageble level but we also don't want to damage the fragile ecosystem here. Note that where there is water, there will be spiders. They are very industrious and can build back a knocked down web within a day!
They are also great for controlling mosquitos and wasps, which we appreciate.

We treasure the wildness of the North and perhaps that is what attracts you.

Consider yourself lucky if you catch a glimpse of any of our other wild neighbors - black bear, wolves, deer, elk, coyote, fox, bobcats, porcupine, skunks, raccoons, eagles, hawks, squirrels, chipmunks and mice as well as a massive variety of birds.

We ask you to consider this before booking one of our cottages or cabins.

The presence of wildlife is part of the experience here and does not warrant a refund.
