We were able to go to the beach multiple times a day because we could head back to the cottage for a rest and cool off period. We also went to the farmers market, many of the neighborhood parks and the museums. It was just enough space for 3 adults (66,37 & 34) and 2 toddlers (4&2). OUR PROPERTY
Everything you need for the perfect vacation on the shores of Lake Michigan.
Private & newly renovated two bedroom cottage on Lake Michigan in between North Muskegon and Whitehall. The main bedroom has a queen size bed, and the smaller bedroom has bunk beds. The sofa in the living room converts to a full size bed.
Cottage is fully furnished, with all the ammenities you will ever need to cook a meal, make your morning coffee, grill out, sleep well (linens), and enjoy the beach (towels and beach chairs)! Board games, Cable TV, and books are provided as well.
For those hot summer days we have central Air Conditioning! Make sure your vacation goes off without a hitch, we have a generator incase a thunder storm knocks out the power!

THE AREA
We are just minutes away from Whitehall, which offers quaint shopping, an extensive bicycle trail, and many dining choices. We are walking distance to the Red Rooster Tavern, and also just a short distance from Michigan's Adventure amusement park, and Whitehall Lighthouse and Museum, Muskegon State Park and Winter Sports Complex. And of course right on the Lake!

One main improvement would be to add central air or at minimum a second window air conditioner in the 2nd bedroom. Sleep was interrupted due to the room being too hot. Master bed room is ok as it has a small window air conditioner. But not having the 2nd bedroom cool enough on hot days would deter us from returning most likely. Everything else was wonderful."

Tastefully and professionally renovated and decorated 2 Br cottage with public access to Spring Lake and just across the bridge from Grand Haven. Relax indoors or out on the private fenced deck or stone patio. A short walk down the (conveniently located) bike path will lead past marinas and Old Boys Brew Pub/restaurant. The cottage has a fully equipped kitchen, new washer and dryer and bath and bed linens. Everything for a relaxing stay and close to all activities on the lake shore.

- "Three friends returned to Spring Lake/Grand Haven this year. We loved enjoying the enclosed front porch for coffee/cocktails and meals. We spent the evenings there just talking and enjoying each others company. It especially came in handy on Sunday when it rained all day, we never used the living room area. The house was perfect for us and was exactly as listed. Since we do cook and eat some meals in, a few more dish towels and kitchen clothes would have been helpful, but there were plenty of bath towels to go around. Having the washer and dryer is wonderful for doing laundry mid-week. The kitchen floor could have been cleaner (but we did discuss this with the owner when he arrived to do some yard work so that he could address this with his cleaning crew). But everything else was clean and we had no issues. BTW, we loved meeting our host! The beds were very comfortable too and having a house gave us plenty of room to relax. Definitely will come back the next time we head to this area."

Adorable private cottage perched on a small hill overlooking an 'all sports' lake in west/central Michigan. Property is heavily wooded and peaceful.

Primary activities on the property for guests are relaxing, boating, sitting around a firepit, barbequeing, games, and visiting local activities. While children are welcome, the cottage is generally more suitable for adults seeking a relaxing place to 'get away from it all'.

Country-style cottage offers large modern kitchen, dining area with 'office nook', and comfortable living room - all with lake views. During the fall of 2012, the living room was enlarged as well as the outdoor patio to allow more space for relaxing.

Cozy bedrooms offer queen-size beds and and living room offers full-size sofa bed. Central air-conditioning, cable TV, WiFi, complete laundry, and soft-water are extra conveniences. Cottage is fully equiped - kitchen has all major tools - linens are also included.

Sunny patio with picnic table and charcoal grill can be found just outside the living room facing the lake. Gradual steps meander from patio area down to lake front, fire-pit, benches, and dock. Paddle boat, canoe, kayak, and rowboat are included for guests with life-vests. If desired, guests may moor their own small power boat at the dock..

The distance from the cottage to the waterfront is about 90 feet. The water front has a wooden sea-wall, dock, and a sand area (about 12 ft wide) to walk into the water. Water is warm in summer and shallow - about 3-4 feet in depth at end of dock. The lake bottom is solid and shallow for about 8-10 ft out and then there will be some weeds in the water. Very safe for paddling around, floating, and small boats. Water color is greenish brown due to tanins from numerous oak trees. Beyond dock is a no-wake zone to enter into larger lake. Lake is categorized as an 'all sports' lake.

Cottage is convenient to village of Newaygo (about 5 miles) and within 60 minutes of larger-city environments and Lake Michigan beach.

Manistee State Forest 200+ miles of forestland with a 92 mile nature trail (walking, biking, etc)

Grand Haven waterfront and Coast Guard Festival (nationally recognized - starts end of July). One of the most famous waterfronts in Michigan and charming small town. The official Coast Guard City of the United States.

Muskegon waterfront and 'Timberland Museums & Mansions' (highlighting the history of logging in West Michigan. Several interesting historic 'mansion tours'.

Holland - internationally famous for the Tulip Festival (in May). Area has beautiful beaches, restaurants, destination shopping, an authentic Windmill from the Netherlands, and many other attractions. Dutch museum, historical homes, and upscale downtown shopping.

Saugatuck Village and Venetian Festival (July). Historic Saugatuck harbour with riverboat cruises. Film festival (Venetian) celebrates independent cinema. Village has the feel of a historical New England community with fine dining and excellent shopping.

Traverse City -one of the most beautiful cities in Michigan, famous for Grand Traverse Bay, sailing, skiing, restaurants, and its location next to the Lelanau Penninsula and Sleeping Bear Dunes. These areas are well known for the beautiful scenery, beach areas, wine country, and the internationally known Cherry Festival (early July).

Mackinaw Island and the Mackina Bridge. The bridge is the longest in the NA and spans the straights of Machinaw connecting the lower penninsula with the upper. The island is a turn of the century Victorian experience - visitors get they by ferry and no cars are allowed on the island. Horse carriages and bikes are available on the island for rent. A visit to Mackinaw would require about 3-4 hrs (one way) so the day would be long, but very worthwhile.

Local area and support available:: The area is definitely casual . . . local area restaurants offer a country and western feel/music . . . jeans are the most appropriate. Bring comfortable shoes and a sweater/light jacket in summer. Also be prepared for water activities such as fishing, canoeing, and tubing down the Muskegon River (if desired).

Many conveniences within 5 miles including grocery store, pharmacy, and discount stores, and acess to Muskegon River activities. All the basics are available.

There is a hospital within 20 miles.

Importants rules to consider:: This cottage is immaculate. We work very hard to provide a modern, clean, and 'cute' cottage that provides all of the amenities of home, but overlooking a medium/small lake. In order to maintain that level of quality, we must insist on some rules be adherred to. Most of our guests have been outstanding, but occasionally our standards for cleanliness are considerably higher than what some guests are comfortable with. We expect guests to maintain the cottage in excellent condition and be reasonably concerned with cleanliness. We must be honest . . . if maintaining a reasonably clean environment is a burden for you, please find another place to stay. The rules are:

No more than six people may stay overnight.
The cottage must be maintained with light housekeeping. Leaving a messy, dirty cottage behind is not acceptable and result in loss of security deposit. Even 'excessive' cleaning to restore the cottage will result in loss of part or all of the deposit. .
If you use our supplies, replace them. We put them there only to help you get started, not as gifts.
No large parties are permitted. Family gatherings are fine, but please respect the neighbors.
Absolutely no smoking, drug use, or excessive drinking.
Absolutely no damage will be tolerated and will result in loss of security deposit.

Logan's Run has been a vacation cottage to hundreds of people over the past 8 years and has many return guests. Logan's Run is a great cottage on the Mukegon river close to Newago, Michigan, with fishing right out the back door. After a long day fishing, river rafting, tubing, kayaking, or hiking you can be assured to sit back and relax and have a campfire, grill your favorite meal (kitchen is well stocked with supplies because wife loves to cook), or watch your favorite sports on a large tv. It is our favorite place in Newaygo because it is right on the river and the house is cute, well stocked, and just relaxing. We always sit out at the fire by the river and just escape from our hectic life styles. We turned the TV on once just to watch a college football game, but only parts of it. We have friends that live close by so having them over to enjoy food, a fire, a relaxation was great. WE love going to Nelson's Apple Farm to get the delicious Michigan apples-they actually taste like apples should taste. Thanks again Ryan!"

Property is located 9 miles from Grand Haven/Lake Michigan, and 11 miles from Grand valley University on a quiet street. There are parks and trails close by for walking, cycling etc.. . The place is relaxing, private, and has amazing views of the sunrise and sunset on the Grand River and wildlife such Bald Eagles, Sandhill Cranes, swans and herons. You can enjoy nights under the star lit skies spotting satellites in front of the campfire. Ideal for couples and families.

The space
Our place is relaxing with great views of the river and sunset. In spring 2018 a new paved cycle path opens 1/3 of a mile from the house ( do not need to cross a main road). You can cycle 6 miles and vist Riverside Park, Bass Creek Recreational area and Connors Bayou park. (Please note house is not suited for wheelchairs, there is 2 steps to enter, narrow hallways, and narrow doorways.)

Cozy and all season, rent this to lounge on the beach, hike the woods, swim, bike, or kite surf, and then return to relax, grill and make a fire.

Relax listening to the water flow over the dam or bring your fishing poles and fish right off the deck and at the dam, next to the cabin! Bring your kayaks and venture down the channel to the lake. Sip coffee in the morning right on the deck and enjoy the private view. The cabin has a queen bed in one bedroom and two twin beds in the second bedroom. This cabin is great for a family with two children, or a couple looking for a quiet get away!

The space
This has been our family cabin for many years and has had some new renovations (new ceiling, paint, bathroom and kitchen flooring, cupboards, counter, sink, toilet, etc.) but, also has some old cabin charm. It is not insulated but we have a newly installed heater/air conditioner. Small water heater, so you may want to keep it a quick shower! Also, cell reception is not very good inside cabin, but can get some signal outside. Another thing to note, is that it has a shallow well with decent water pressure, but is a bit "irony". We provide bottled water. Bedrooms are small, but it is a cozy, great getaway cabin with big windows to allow for a beautiful view of the water, dam and creek down below.

You may be given the gift of catching sight of a bald eagle soaring above or a family of ducks or swans gliding along the pond. You’ll feel the cares of life just melt away in the beauty of nature.

The cabin is small (450 sq ft). It consists of a main living area with a seating area, tv, small eating area, and fully functioning kitchen. It has two bedrooms - one with a queen bed, and the other with a bunk bed. The cottage has one small, but serviceable bathroom (see photos). We provide clean linens, dinner ware, and basic utensils, pots and pans for cooking. Outside the cabin, under the awning, is a picnic table and a couple Adirondack chairs – a perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee.

The community space is available to all guests. It has a platform that overlooks the water, a wooden swing for relaxing, and campfire pit with bench seating.

Downtown Croton is 2 miles away and has a couple restaurants, gas station, and grocery store. We are about 10 miles away from beautiful Newaygo with more shops, restaurants, and parks. We are minutes away from North Country Trails and the Dragon Trail - popular with both hikers and bikers. Do you want a day at a beach instead? The Hardy Operator’s Village Park is a couple miles away, just east of the Hardy Dam, and offers hours of fun with its sandy beach, playground and picnic areas.

The living area has a window air conditioner. The bedrooms do not, however, the bedrooms are right off the living area and so the cooler air distributes well into those rooms.

Please provide your own campfire wood. Several places nearby offer campfire wood to be purchased.

Our rustic family Back cottage on it's own private beach on Lake Michigan. This is about 200 ft from the beach, set back in the pines behind the Front Cottage. Nothing fancy, but the beach is beautiful, water is clear, and you can spend all day in the sand.
(Kite Boarders paradise, as the wind is always north south.)
We have two tandem cottages on the private beach, this one is the one closer to the road.

The space
The Tighe Cottages are located directly on the a private stretch of Lake Michigan, near Whitehall Michigan. They have been in the family for over 50 years, and have been a source of joy for generations. The Front Cottage is occupied by the Tighe families, with the Back Cottage available for weekly rentals to friends and future friends in the summer months. Approximately 200 ft from the beach, the Back Cottage preserves the woodsy and rustic cottage charm of a Lake Michigan summer.

The Back Cottage has 3 bedrooms+ :One Queen bed, one Full, and two twins, accommodating 6 people in total. Since the cottage has old pipes, we prefer not to exceed 6 guests. There is a kitchen, living-room, bathroom, and back deck with BBQ for outdoor cooking and star-gazing.
It is rustic, but if you like having a 30 second walk to a private beach, this is for you.

SUMMER FUN AWAITS! Located just 100 yards from the Lake Michigan shoreline and 6 miles from downtown Montague you'll find our cozy, little cottage situated on the backside of a wooded dune. Our cottage offers 2 bedrooms, each with a queen sized bed, 1 bath, a full kitchen, and a living room complete with a smart tv. This wi-fi equipped cottage provides a getaway for those looking to enjoy beach life and amazing sunsets, local wineries, golf, bike, or work remotely in a simple setting.

The space
Let's be real...our cottage is tiny and simple. At just 500 sq. feet, it's comfortable and cozy but the spaces are tight in the bathroom and around the beds in the bedroom. If you have difficulty with close quarters, this cottage may not be for you. It is, however, a great place to unwind after a fun-filled day outside. *Please note: We've updated some cottage features this spring. We have a new water pump for increased water pressure, a new roof, and we've painted the exterior mint green (new pics will be added this spring!)

Guest access
Guests will be able to enjoy the full living spaces of the cottage, the exterior shared space of the 8 acre property (including shuffle board, disc golf, and fire pits) and the large, private Lake Michigan beach. Our beach steps offer a close access to the beach, but please know there are about 100 steps down to the beach. If you prefer an easier beach access, there is a public access 1,000 feet south of our property. We do have a storage loft in the cottage that is not for guest use.

Other things to note
-Please note: this property is considered beach front property, however there are no lake views from the cottage itself.
-We do not have laundry in our cottage, however, laundry is available for use in unit #1, just opposite the fire pit.
-There are about 100 steps down to the beach. If you prefer an easier beach access, there is a public access 1,000 feet south of our property.
-The beach pictures in our listing were taken in June 2022. The Lake Michigan shoreline can fluctuate from year to year. We will update beach photos once this spring.
-Please note that the week of July 4th tends to have more beach traffic. Although our beach is still considered private, our cottage neighbors do invite guests more frequently that week.

FiFi's is a 1950s lakeside cottage that takes you back in time. Nestled under evergreen trees in the Manistee National Forest, it has 120 feet of frontage and 180-degree views of Utley Lake. The private, no-wake lake is perfect for kayaking or fishing. Watch the sunset from the screened-in porch or nestle by the fireplace. Hike the North Country Trail or bike the Dragon Trail. Float down the Muskegon River or shop in the quaint little river town of Newaygo. Outdoor activities are abundant!

The space
The primary bedroom has a queen bed and full-size closet with a dresser and vanity/desk. It also has a wall AC/heater unit. The second bedroom has a full-size bed and small closet with a space heater and fan. The kitchen has an oven and stovetop, microwave, toaster, and coffeemaker. There's a small dining table and writing desk. The updated bathroom has a bathtub/shower; towels are provided. Good cell phone reception to tether to, but no Wi-Fi. There's a gas fireplace with a TV/DVD player above it. There are DVDs and a large library of Reader's Digest books from 1950-2000. There's a hill with several steps leading down to the dock. There are two picnic tables out front on the patio. The screened-in porch has two Adirondack swivel chairs.

The house is accessible except for one small room that is closed off/locked for storage. The garage is locked for owner use only.

The space
Location! Location! Location! Corner Cottage is located on a "corner" lot of Brooks Lake with 165 feet of wraparound lakefront. Overlooking the lake is a beautiful deck under a canopy of trees. There is a dock, fire area, 2 adult, 1 double and a child's kayak and a stand up paddle board (SUP) for your use. The cottage itself is small, approximately 650sq ft. It is best suited for two adults. There is one bedroom with a full size bed, and a day bed with trundle and a pull-out sofa in the living room.
The location is in a great area of Western Michigan. It is located off the main road, on the main body of Brooks Lake surrounded on two sides by water. We have a large deck furnished with a couch, two swivel chairs, high back chairs, a dining table and chairs and a grill. At the waterfront there is a sandy bottom for swimming. The dock is L-shaped so you can fish or sunbathe. There are several kayaks and a paddle board for your use. Brooks Lake has a public boat ramp allowing you to bring along your watercraft. It's an all-sports lake so both tubing and fishing are great! Several bass fishing tournaments are held on the lake every summer.
*The cottage is small, approximately 650 sq ft. One bedroom, a bathroom, a laundry area with washer and dryer, a kitchen and a sitting area with television, sleeper sofa, table & chairs, two lounging chairs and a futon with trundle. Quaint. The outdoor balcony, waterfront and views are awesome!

Guests will have access to the entire house. You will also have a waterfront area, dock, kayaks, outdoor furniture, hose, driveway and a 300 acre lake with lots of fish waiting to be caught.

Other things to note
Brooks Lake is an all-sports lake with lots to do year-round. Summer is of course awesome, but there are many activities to enjoy the other seasons too! All year long you will find many hiking, biking, ATV and snowmobile trails nearby. The North Country Trail runs right through the county, with one of the trail heads just north of Newaygo. The Muskegon River is popular for paddling, and a good spot for Salmon, Steelhead, Brown Trout, and other varieties of fish fishing. Winter brings ice fishing on the lake, cross country skiing and if you clear a spot, ice skating. For more information on activities in the area, please visit www.newaygocountyexploring. You will enjoy our river cottage, located directly on the Muskegon River. Great fishing, tubing and kayaking. Best fishing spot is directly in front of our cottage! You can swing out over the river. Relax at night by the fire pit and enjoy the large outdoor space. Plenty of restaurants and unique shops near by . We have .a scenic winding gravel driveway in . It is easily accessible for all types of vehicles , even our small Prius.

The space
We can't wait to share the things we love about our cottage! Just steps away from the river. Everyone enjoys our large deck that extends out over it. It's a great place to relax. There are two beds , one pull out sofa bed and an electric air bed upon request.

Classic 3 Bedroom Victorian Cottage on the outskirts of Whitehall, MI. We have an 80 foot wrap around porch, plenty of parking, and a big yard for kids to play. Furnished vacation cottage rental in downtown Grand Haven. Park your car and walk to downtown, Chinook Pier, the Farmers Market, local restaurants, shops and live music. This 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom home was originally built in 1880. It retains a lot of it's old charm with a Clawfoot tub (with shower), pedestal bathroom sink, whitewashed wood ceiling and plaster walls. It has a full size washer/dryer, dishwasher, disposal, microwave, wifi.

This is a great vacation spot in the heart of Grand Haven. I love great linens and quality bath products and I provide the best to my guests as well. The queen bed is memory foam and the pillows are comfortable so you will be too.
There are window air conditioning units in the bedroom and living room. There is a new comfy leather sectional and smart TV in the living room.

Please note: This unit is on the second floor of a duplex. Because the home was built in 1880, the stairs were built on a more steep incline than modern steps. It is not a good option for children or people with mobility issues. There will be guests in the unit below you so we do ask that guests in each unit be courteous of one another.

This quaint river front home feels miles from town, but is located an easy 3/8 mile from downtown Newaygo for shopping and dining out. Sitting adjacent to The New Bridge boat launch, you can launch and fish, have guides pick you up, or tube right to the house. There is a fire pit in the back yard by the river.
Access to the river is best from the public launch adjacent to the property. Often fishermen will walk to the bridge and fish down to the launch wading the river.
Tubers and kayakers can launch at Thornapple and will have about a 4 hour float and take out at the launch next to us.

The space
PLEASE NOTE - like most homes in the downtown area of Grand Haven this house is over 100 years old, which means lots of character and a great location but also means things like steeper stairs, upstairs has a gabled roof, radiator heating which means window AC units not central air and while the kitchen is otherwise fully equipped there is no dishwasher. We hope to show as much about the house in the photos and descriptions as possible and please don't hesitate to ask more questions. Also as listed we do not have cable TV - but do have a new smart TV with Roku with a DVD player and do have Wifi. Our hope is that you will take advantage of time spent with others, enjoy our puzzles, games, books and creating memories together! We do offer longer stay off season rental often as well - please inquire.

Other things to note
Please note that while the kitchen has just about everything, it does not have a dishwasher - so dishes need to be washed by hand. Also note as seen in photos that the two upstairs rooms are separated by a curtain as it is not possible to have a door with the gabled roof. Any other questions?? Just ask!!

Our family has a long history with Grand Haven, the Vinks and other family immigrated to the area in the 1800's and have been in the area ever since. This house is named in honor of my beloved Grandma Ruth who passed away several years ago but is where my love of Grand Haven and hosting others came from. She grew up in Grand Haven - just a few blocks from here and my childhood summers were spent coming back with Grandma to see family and friends. Family and heritage was important to her and we have loved being able to honor her memory in many of the photos in the house. We hope you will enjoy a little of our family history as well!
