The cottage is set on 20 acres of undulating landscape. There are vistas over the reserve and water (dependent on rainfall) and ample stars on clear nights. There are over 100 species of birds recorded on the property. A pair of Wedge-tailed Eagles often glide over. Come and enjoy the tranquil environment that is near Portland.

- "Property not suitable for me.As far as the agency is concerned they are very good," - "The property was a nice representation of the time period in which it was built. Comfortable beds, clean linen, adequate kitchen supplies and comfortable lounge. The central location was very convenient for shopping and exploring the township on foot. HOWEVER it has an odd musty smell throughout, it lacks a nice outdoor area, and being woken at 5am every morning by banging from both the baker and butcher was very annoying."
