- "I have stayed at this hostel many times but always before with other people-= so it was especially great to have a room to myself - with everything you could need for a comfortable stay. The buffet breakfast was good and coffee was too .The last time i stayed the road outside was being converted for the tram lines-but now that the tram runs almost to the door from Waverley station and the airport it is excellent. The room was clean modern and a lot better than the hotel I stayed in for the rest of my holiday near Loch Lomond. I will be back but for a longer stay next time"

The pods have screens, light and USB connecting port. The staffs were very friendly. I was invited to a beer tasting session and it was very interactive one. JC did the beer tasting session and he was very friendly. He helped me a lot right from check in and whatever query I had, JC helped me with it. The high street area was very nearby. There are lots of options nearby for food. There are lots of pubs nearby hosting live music session. This is the best place to stay if you are looking for somewhere nearby city and it also helped me to meet new people from different parts of the world. This is one of the best stay I had and I would chose this hostel again. "

The staff were friendly and helpful, in the foyer there was a comfortable seated area where you could enjoy the Olympics on a large screen. The room was fine for my needs, a nice ensuite shower, the bed was a bit short but fine for a short stay, there was a desk also, no tv in room but i didn't mind. There was one in the shared kitchen and again comfortable seating to watch it from. There was the option to cook in the kitchen, which was good. It's just round the corner from Hibs ground too, so a possibility to see an SPL game. I booked just a few days before I went up and unfortunately prices go up a lot for the fringe, as handy and pleasant as I found it I wouldn't want to pay that much again, if I decide to go next year I'll book earlier and hopefully get a better deal."

The little square that it is on directly is very nice, with a great bar / restaurant right across the street. And it is just a few hundred meters from the Royal Mile and very convenient to the Waverly rail station so it is wasy to get to and from the airport. We had an utterly fantastic time in Edinburgh and everyone at KickAss Hostel was very friendly. The breakfast is fine. It's consistent enough from day to day that there comes a point where it's not necessarily exciting, but as breakfasts included with a stay it is far better than average. We were on our first trip to Scotland and in retrospect there are two things I would do differently. Pur basic trip was start in Edinburg, train up to Inverness, train to Glasgow, and then train back to a hotel nearer the airport the night before our flight out. I would in retrospect change two things. We stayed overnight two nights in Glasgow. That was more time then Glasgow requires IMHO. If I had to do it over again we would have just had our southern part of the stay all in Edinburgh and we would have made Glasgow a day trip. The Hostel could use a couple of more washer/dryers for laundry. But on the whole: this was just fantastic."

Originally designed as the Edinburgh police chambers, the building contained both holding cells and courtroom facilities that have been transformed to add modern comfort while keeping the historic nature of the rooms intact.

Nestled in the centre of the medieval Old Town, our hostel is in the perfect location to reveal Edinburgh’s magical charm combined with an underground party scene unlike any other city. With incredible sights such as Edinburgh Castle, the Scottish National Galleries and the Royal Mile just a short stroll away from your bed there’s no excuse not to get out and about! Our Edinburgh hostel is also a very convenient 2 minute walk from Waverley station.

The space
Enjoy a spacious triple bunk room in our charming Edinburgh hostel. Nestled right in the heart of this mysterious medieval Old Town, you could not be better placed to explore the amazing sights on offer. You can literally roll out of bed and onto Edinburgh Castle’s doorstep! This room comes complete with privacy curtains, USB ports, reading lights and lockers to store your things.

Make the most of our daily food and drink discounts for hostel guests which you can use on our legendary Belushi’s burgers! If you’re after a party we have pub crawls running every night from our 24hr reception so finding new backpacker friends before taking on Edinburgh’s insane party scene could not be easier!
