I have to say that I was very impressed with this hotel and am glad we were able to book our stay there! From the popcorn machine in the lobby to the 530-7pm Kickback snacks/dinner and drinks (all free!), we felt like we were treating ourselves to a real weekend getaway, even with the tournament schedule! Pros: Very clean in room and throughout the whole property (including dining areas and pool); breakfast was fully stocked with choices in both hot (eggs, sausage, gravy, oatmeal, etc) and cold (cereals, milk/juices, yogurt) as well as fresh fruit and coffee. Cons: Really, there's only two I can think of and both can be worked out if there's time for planning ahead. 1) If it's a busy night/weekend, you will know right away by all the activity in and around the lobby. The pool was VERY popular the whole time we were there and it was BUSY. There was a staff member near the door keeping track of occupancy to manage that chaos to the best of her ability. She was friendly and did her job very well, even when she had to turn people away at times. Just be a good guest and follow the rules...and don't be rude and not give others a chance to enjoy the facilities. 2) Request a room on the lowest floor possible. This hotel has eight floors and the elevators are busy. We sometimes took the stairs when in a hurry (to/from sixth floor). The staff here were great and I'd stay again when in the area. "

The space
1/2 bathroom on the first floor. 2 full bathrooms on the second floor. All bedrooms are on the second floor. The living room couch folds out to make a bed. The loft couch folds out as well to make a bed. Laundry room is on the second floor.

The whole house is available for use minus the closet under the stairs and the garage.

Other things to note
The hot tub has a push button lock on the side of the cover arm. Before using please increase the temperature with the lid down. It will warm up faster for you. Close lid and return temperature to preset level. In rare instances previous guests have accidentally engaged the safety lock on the controls. Please contact us and we can walk you through how to unlock it.

Exterior amenities such as the charcoal grill are only occasionally checked to ensure ashes do not build up. Guests will need to scrape the grill for their use and provide charcoal. Limited grill utensils are provided as well.

As you walk in the main floor, relax in the cozy living room around the real wood-burning fireplace (there's nothing like that crackle), or watch your favorite show or sporting event on the 55” tv. Step out onto the expansive front deck to destress in the rocking chairs & watch your loved ones fish in the pond.

Our fully equipped kitchen will make your meal prep a breeze. Brand new stainless steel appliances (including a dishwasher!), baking sheets, and pots and pans are all provided. If you want to get outside and meander through Nashville or check out the state park, just 12 minutes away, there is much to do. Bloomington and the Indiana University campus are under 30 minutes on a scenic drive via IN-45, so your location is perfectly situated for campus visits for any reason. If the weather calls for a little less outdoor adventure, you can sit under the wraparound porch and read a book on the swing, dine on the screened-in porch after preparing a meal in the fully furnished kitchen, play a game, watch TV, or gather with those you are with and take time to catch up on life’s journeys.

There is plenty of space and area for everyone to stretch out and recharge. No matter what your day brings, you will enjoy being able to wind down lounging in the hot tub and sitting around the fire pit at night. Just don’t forget to bring all the fixings for s’mores!

We hope that Deer Dance Log Cabin can be a place where you will want to make special memories year after year. There are many updates happening now and planned for the near future. Internet is now available, but it is totally okay if you disconnect and don’t use it!

In addition to the king and queen beds, there is also a full-sized futon.

Deer Dance Log Cabin has a fairly steep drive. It is helpful if you have a front-wheel or 4-wheel drive vehicle. When going up the hill, maintain a steady speed; you should not have any problems.

PET-FRIENDLY PROPERTY: There is a $75 fee per pet. Moondance Vacation Homes proudly donates a portion to the Brown County Humane Society when you bring your pet and pay your pet fee.

All fireplaces are seasonal and available for use from October 1st to April 1st.
