Welcome to our lakehouse! Our 3-bedroom cottage is situated right on the water, with dock access just a few steps away. Fully renovated from the studs up, this 3-bedroom house can sleep up to 6 people. During the renovation, we made every effort to make the home feel comfortable and relaxing for your vacation, which includes full air conditioning! The master bedroom features a king sized bed with wonderful lake views. The second bedroom is appointed with a queen sized bed and a view of the canal that runs alongside the property. The third bedroom has twin bunk beds. Our main living space is open concept, with a full wall of windows overlooking the lake. The kitchen is brand new, with beautiful granite countertops, island seating, and a large dining table. We have two indoor seating areas. The first is wonderful for conversation and drinking coffee (or a cocktail!). The second has a wonderfully deep sofa for lounging or watching a movie on our smart TV. There is a fully functioning wood-burning fireplace for winter nights, and plenty to do outdoors during the warmer months! Our large patio is filled with plenty of outdoor furniture and a propane grill. The side yard has a fire pit to warm up chilly nights, and a hammock that is perfect for afternoon naps. Our secluded bay is surprisingly close to most of Chautauqua's main attractions, such as the Chautauqua Institute, which is just about a 5 minute drive by car (or 10 minutes by boat!). You are welcome to dock your boat at the community dock where we have one dedicated space, located directly in front of our property. There is a public boat launch conveniently located, just around the corner at Prendergast Point. Come and enjoy a relaxing stay on Chautauqua Lake!

- "Our 3-generation family stayed in this wonderful, large, well-appointed house in mid-August, along with our 2 dogs. From before our stay started, Patti was communicative and extremely helpful - finding us a dog sitter, buying beach chairs when asked if she has some, and responding to all my questions, and in a very timely way! The house and property are even nicer than the photos - including the grounds and equipment - volleyball net w/ball, basketball hoop w/ball, hammock and the lovely pool and pool deck. The fire pit was perfect for making s'mores and even has lights so we could stay into the evening. The house had everything we needed - bedding, towels, kitchen items - and some bonuses like the Simpsons video game, and full laundry room. Our grandkids said it was the best vacation we ever had because of the house, the pool, the video games, and the property! Great house, great property, and great hosts, who left us a fabulous welcome package of snacks and a great bottle of wine!"

- "We really enjoyed our stay at this quaint cottage we were very comfortable. The only thing I would add is maybe a fire ring and possibly a small stackable washer and dryer. This location/unit is definitely accommodating for boating and fishing.. Nice towns near by. We really enjoyed Bemus Point, the grocery store is very nice and has realistic hours of operation. Everyone is very friendly. My family enjoys Hogan’s Hut , the only bait shop this side of the lake. We went to the town of Lakewood, the downtown area unfortunately is a ghost town after 4:30. The only place open is the laundromat which is what we needed so no complaints there. This was our fourth trip to Chautauqua Lake and this was the best place we stayed at. We definitely will be returning! Thank you!"

This property is just before the North/Elm Lane entrance to the world famous Chautauqua Institution! As a guest you will have all the convenience of being just 25 steps to the North gate and a trolley/bus stop picking up every 15 minutes or short 5-minute walk to the heart of the Institution!

At the same time, you're not required to have a full day pass unless you want to pay for it! Pick and choose your times and days according to your schedule and desired activities as opposed to being required to have a pass just to get to your place of stay! Large yard with multiple sitting areas and ample parking included!

Welcome to our family's cottage. Originally purchased by our grandparents, it has been owned by our family for over 50 years. Our home was purchased from a Sears Catalog. Back in the mid-1900's Sears (yes, Sears & Roebuck) sold prefabricated homes from a catalog. Almost every style of home could be purchased and delivered to your site from a factory with all the wood cut to size and ready for easy assembly. Ours has everything you would want in a summer cottage.
This is a two story, wood framed home. It comfortably sleeps seven (7) people in three bedrooms plus two sleeping porches all on the second floor. There is a full bathroom and a separate storage room with washer and dryer.
The main floor contains a kitchen, breakfast nook and main dining area as well as a living room and full bath. The front porch extends the full width of the house, and is the seating area of choice during the daylight hours as are most porches at Chautauqua.

One bedroom contains a twin bed. There are also two bedrooms each with a double bed and also two sleeping porches (with floor to ceiling screens on two sides) that sleep one person on a twin bed. At the back of the house is located the bathroom with stall shower.
Weeks start on Saturday with check in at 1:00 pm thru the following Saturday with check out at 10:00 am.
Rental includes:
Furnishings, linens, towels and normal kitchen appliances and utensils.
Cleaning of the cottage before and after rental period is included.

- "We loved our stay at the “tree cottage!” My husband and I were there to attend a wedding, (at the Hall of Philosophy, right across the street) and we invited some music buddies along to make a long weekend of it. The beds were comfy, the shower was delicious, and everything was very much authentic, old Chautauqua, before everything became so condo-ized. Real wood everywhere, and an ancient tree, given the respect it deserves, by letting it grow right through the porch. We played music on the porch, and cooked together and had a lovely time. Thank you for keeping and sharing such a wonderful place!"

The space
Come inside Gracewood to experience total relaxation in this spacious estate home! Lovingly renovated in 2022, this 1800s house is full of character, charm and countless whimsical features. Enjoy the fully stocked kitchen, complete with plentiful accommodations for both cooks and their guests to chat over morning coffee or cocktails at night. Enter the formal dining room with seating for 16, then pass through the wood-paneled main hallway to the cozy living room complete with tv, a dedicated work space and piano. The main stairway leads to the upper alcove, complete with a futon and a comfy chair to read a book while you view the pines on the back hillside. The three spacious bedrooms include a king, four queens, bunkbed and sleeper sofa and tv's. You’ll also find two full bathrooms on this level. Head over to the second floor loft which features four twin trundle beds and a TV with gaming system. Pass the arched window looking out to the carriage house and your path will take you down the back stairs and find yourself again in the family-friendly kitchen.
Guest access
Gracewood is set back 1/4 mile from the road up a long drive, nestled among towering pines, oaks and maples with plenty of room for parking your toys. The main house includes three porches, all of which are attached and a fire pit on the back lawn. The property is located on six acres which you're free to roam, and includes a pond, carriage house, potter's kiln and barn (although these buildings are off-limits to guests). The house has a view of a large meadow with vistas in every direction. You can enjoy views of the sunset and sunrise from the porches, and you'll see plenty of flora and fauna from the big bay window in the kitchen. We often watch deer in the front yard while we eat dinner in the kitchen.
Other things to note
We lovingly restored this house in 2022, and named it Gracewood after our mothers. They taught us the value of gathering, and we're excited to share this wonderful old house with our family, friends and new guests. We hope you'll enjoy this place as much as we do, and make new memories here with your own families and friends. While the interior of the home is nearly fully updated, the grounds and other buildings will remain a work in progress for some time, as we continue to improve the property and restore the natural beauty of this amazing place.

- "Gracewood has been beautifully renovated while still retaining the charm of the original structure. Our party consisted of five adults, six children and one pooch. There was ample space to play and relax both inside and out. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you may need. We spent a good portion of our time baking and were pleasantly surprised to find everything we may need. Mark was an excellent host and maintained speedy response times throughout our stay. We will definitely book again!"

Lenna Performance Hall, Fletcher Music Hall, McKnight Performance Hall, and Turner Educational and Fitness Facility are all within a 3 - 5 minutes walk. Tram bus stops at the corner just off the green space by the dance school.

- "Hosts were incredibly gracious and helpful. We had our own patio and were able to eat outside every night which was lovely. Kitchen was very well equipped. The basement level meant it was often cool enough not to need to use the AC, though having the central AC as opposed to noisy window AC units like we had last year at Chautauqua was a huge upgrade for us when we needed it. Plenty of closet space , lots of linens, easy and efficient laundry. Lovely week!"

- "We decided to go to Jamestown to visit the Comedy Hall of Fame. We decided on this condo and community as it was near the lake. Also was close to wine country on Lake Erie. Both were worth the visit. The owner Samuel was very helpful during our stay plus giving us suggestions for Dinning out." - "Upon arrival we were greeted by a great staffer then everything changed when we opened the door to our rental. First AC was not working, TV was not working and the disposal. There were large gouge marks in the 1970’s vinyl flooring in entry and Kitchen area and the bathroom vinyl flooring was pulling away from the walls and tub and on either side of the toilet. The refrigerator is old and has ice so thick it’s pushing on the freezer door. The carpet is soiled. I am not the only one who had problems with this unit, the complaints go back to 2018. The bed was great, The location was good. This unit sadly shows lack of updates and care. I will not be using Vrbo again."

Unit #315 is a quiet efficiency apartment on the third floor on Ames Avenue. Just cross the Plaza is the Post Office, Chautauqua Bookstore, Library, Afterwords Cafe. Also Brickwalk Cafe and Coffee Kiosk in season. A few more steps and you will enjoy all that the Amphitheater and Hall of Philosophy have to offer.

The cabin has a cozy, updated feel. Original knotty pine woodwork throughout, with all the amenities you can ask for. Enjoy the smart Roku TV to stream your favorite apps, and a DVD player. Or pull out one of the multiple board games provided for you. The garage has space for all your fishing, boating, snowmobiling equipment. Enjoy our coffee bar, with multiple ways to brew coffee. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, cooking utensils, dishes, slow cooker, anything that you would need to feel at home.

Bedroom 1 boasts a comfy, memory foam queen mattress, with a dresser and bedside lighting. Large closet that has room for anything you need to hang. You will also find extra linens, pillows, a space heater, high chair, and pack n play if needed.

Bedroom 2 has a convenient, full size day bed that has a twin size trundle pull out. Keep it packed away, or pull out and place anywhere in the room for extra sleeping. Weight limit for both the full and twin are 250lbs. Bedroom 2 includes a smart Roku TV, dresser, and charging station night stand.

Other things to note
We have well water in the home. It's tested and perfectly safe to drink. Our water does not smell of sulfur. Although the water is safe, we have provided a Brita water filter in the fridge for your preference.

We are a pet friendly cabin. We love that you want to travel with your furry friends! We do charge a small pet fee to ensure our cabin is cleaned more thoroughly in between guests. We just ask that all pets stay off the beds and furniture.

For those with trailers- Our driveway is about 45ft long and is double wide. We do not allow vehicle parking in the garage. If you need more space, let us know and we can make arrangements. The nearest marina is Snug Harbor Marina at the end of the road, or Prendergast public boat launch less than a mile away.

The space
Your stay here is guaranteed to be quiet and peaceful. You may also enjoy spotting wildlife, visiting our livestock nearby, walking our trails, enjoying our pond and checking out our organic mushroom grove in the adjacent woods. From this location you are just one mile away from the Mt. Pleasant State Forest, which offers wonders of hiking, skiing, and snowmobiling trails. They are also open lands for hunting.

This is truly a rustic cabin experience- there is no electricity or running water here (yet!). Instead, we use battery-powered lights, which keep the space bright. You can also use the gas-powered generator for running an electric lamp, fan, and chargers. You are welcome to use the wood stove for heat. You are also welcome to use the grill and smoker for cooking. There is a working flush toilet using rainwater. We can help with any of these things if you are inexperienced.

This is a great setup for hunters! Please let us know if you are interested in hunting on our property of 30 wooded acres. You are also free to access the vast stateland just a walk or short drive away.

Other nearby attractions include Chautauqua Institution, Peak N Peek Ski Resort, Chautauqua Lake, Lake Erie, and numerous local wineries and breweries.

Guests have access to the entire cabin, which includes and open room with a queen bed, a table and chairs, a separated bathroom, and an open loft with a twin bed. Guests are free to enjoy the property, including the pond area, gardens, trails through the woods, and our organic mushroom grove.

We are happy to make accommodations whenever possible. While we assume that 4 people would sleep comfortably in the cabin, you are welcome to bring tents and make other arrangements if you want to bring more people.

Välkommen! Everything is kept sparkling clean by our long-time helpers, and Meg and I take a lot of pride in helping our guests have a pleasant and rewarding time at Chautauqua.
37 Foster has a prime location in Chautauqua, 1 block from the Brick Walk, mid-way between the Amphitheatre and the Hall of Philosophy. It's just a few blocks to the lake. The tram stops at our corner, and the Children's School bus stops nearby.
The Garden Studio has it's own outdoor sitting area upstairs in the yard, A/C, floor heating, WiFi, Flat screen TV, Streaming TV, all the modern kitchen conveniences, and an oversize shower, We provide all linens, towels, kitchen utensils, dishes, silverware, everything you need to just unpack and enjoy.
There are many dining places a short walk away, from the 19th century elegance of the Athenaeum Hotel, to the casual dining of the Brick Walk Cafe. In addition, you can find a a wide range of restaurants, including some lakeside dining places, a short drive away.
If there is any way we can be of help, we look forward to hearing your questions. During the Chautauqua Season we rent by the week, Saturday to Saturday. The dock is seasonal. It is installed and removed at our discretion.
The washer and dryer availability is also seasonal. It is located in a separate room off of the breezeway, and therefore, if we have severely cold weather, we close it down to eliminate the possibility of waterlines breaking.

37 Foster-Left is a Chautauqua Institution half-double house built c. 1895 updated with all modern conveniences, nicely decorated and furnished with all your needs for a comfortable vacation. The sparkling clean house is in a central location. You will enjoy relaxing on the porch with wicker furniture and flower boxes in the true Chautauqua atmosphere.

The space
NOTE: It is necessary to buy a GATE PASS from Chautauqua Institution during the program season (June 26 - August 28in 2021). Entrance to the grounds is free at other times.

Our lodging is a Chautauqua Institution half-double house built c. 1895 updated with all modern conveniences, nicely decorated and furnished with all your needs for a comfortable vacation. It is located near the "Brick Walk" between the Amphitheater and Hall of Philosophy. There is a porch with wicker, WiFi, cable TV, a bright new kitchen (2010), shared laundry. 4-BR (Q,S,S,S) sleeps 5. 1 Bath. Chautauqua Lake is only a few blocks away, but our location above it on the same level as the program venues allows easy access, In the Program Season we provide reserved parking for one car 2 blocks away inside the Institution.

During the program season we pay for a reserved parking spot nearby in the South Lot 2 blocks from the house. Post Season there is usually parking in the driveway at the house. Please confirm that with us.

Chautauqua Institution offers a fabulous, nationally-known, program of culture, entertainment, education, and recreation during a 9-week program season (late June to end of August).
Our neighborhood attracts a mixture of families with children, seniors, and longtime residents, and the atmosphere is relaxed and congenial, with people who a friendly yet respect everyone's privacy. Days flow by in a regular rhythm as the kids swarm by on their bikes at 9 am headed to Boys' and Girls' Club day camp, then crowds amble over to the 10:45 am morning lecture by internationally famous speakers, e.g. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Chautauqua Lake calls for an afternoon of swimming and/or sailing, and the 8:15 pm evening program fills the historic Amphitheater with music from classical, to jazz, to rock.

You have everything you need to whip up gourmet meals in our sparkling new clean and well-equipped kitchen, but there are also restaurants from casual to fine dining within a few blocks, and a variety of lakeside dining places to reach by car. The Booksore, Library, Post Office, and a variety of shops on Bestor Plaza are just minutes away on foot or by tram.

During the summer program season we rent Saturday to Saturday for $2695. Outside the season there is a 3-night minimum for $175/night during holidays or at normal times for $155/ night, plus 5% county occupancy tax and $80 end cleaning..

Guests have complete private use of the house. We share a laundry on the lower level and a gas grill behind the house.

Other things to note
This is a No Smoking property. Unfortunately, we are not able to accept pets. We request our guests to wear house shoes/slippers/socks n the the house. There is a shoe rack at the door.
