This property is just before the North/Elm Lane entrance to the world famous Chautauqua Institution! As a guest you will have all the convenience of being just 25 steps to the North gate and a trolley/bus stop picking up every 15 minutes or short 5-minute walk to the heart of the Institution!

At the same time, you're not required to have a full day pass unless you want to pay for it! Pick and choose your times and days according to your schedule and desired activities as opposed to being required to have a pass just to get to your place of stay! Large yard with multiple sitting areas and ample parking included!

- "We decided to go to Jamestown to visit the Comedy Hall of Fame. We decided on this condo and community as it was near the lake. Also was close to wine country on Lake Erie. Both were worth the visit. The owner Samuel was very helpful during our stay plus giving us suggestions for Dinning out." - "Upon arrival we were greeted by a great staffer then everything changed when we opened the door to our rental. First AC was not working, TV was not working and the disposal. There were large gouge marks in the 1970’s vinyl flooring in entry and Kitchen area and the bathroom vinyl flooring was pulling away from the walls and tub and on either side of the toilet. The refrigerator is old and has ice so thick it’s pushing on the freezer door. The carpet is soiled. I am not the only one who had problems with this unit, the complaints go back to 2018. The bed was great, The location was good. This unit sadly shows lack of updates and care. I will not be using Vrbo again."

Our garden (basement) apartment was newly constructed and furnished with touches from Meg's Swedish heritage in 2010. We hope you will love it as much as we do, and we try to provide everything you will need for a comfortable and memorable Chautauqua vacation. This is a great neighborhood for everyone from grandparents to kids, with neighbors who are friendly yet considerate of everyone's privacy. The buses and the trams stop just steps away at the corner. A/C and radiant floor heat are both available in the garden studio, which is on the lower level (basement), entered down a stairway at the rear of the double house. Twelve feet of windows on a light well give the apartment a bright and spacious appearance

Unit #315 is a quiet efficiency apartment on the third floor on Ames Avenue. Just cross the Plaza is the Post Office, Chautauqua Bookstore, Library, Afterwords Cafe. Our one bedroom apartment , one full tub shower bathroom apartment and kitchenette is centrally located to all of Chautauqua Lake's attractions, while peacefully tucked away in a private neighborhood. The apartment is a second story space with a beautiful view of Chautauqua Lake. We have lake access just a few steps away with a space for your boat!!

The Garden Studio (basement, down one flight of stairs), new in 2010 and nicely furnished in a relaxed contemporary Swedish style is bright and airy with 12 feet of windows on a light well.

NOTE: During the program season (June 26 - August 27 in 2021) you must purchase a GATE PASS from Chautauqua Institution.

Our Garden Studio (basement, down 1 flight of stairs) is brand new in 2010 and fully furnished in a relaxed modern style with Swedish touches by my wife, who's family are of the Jamestown Swedish community. Välkommen! Everything is kept sparkling clean by our long-time helpers, and Meg and I take a lot of pride in helping our guests have a pleasant and rewarding time at Chautauqua.
37 Foster has a prime location in Chautauqua, 1 block from the Brick Walk, mid-way between the Amphitheatre and the Hall of Philosophy. It's just a few blocks to the lake. The tram stops at our corner, and the Children's School bus stops nearby.
The Garden Studio has it's own outdoor sitting area upstairs in the yard, A/C, floor heating, WiFi, Flat screen TV, Streaming TV, all the modern kitchen conveniences, and an oversize shower, We provide all linens, towels, kitchen utensils, dishes, silverware, everything you need to just unpack and enjoy.
There are many dining places a short walk away, from the 19th century elegance of the Athenaeum Hotel, to the casual dining of the Brick Walk Cafe. In addition, you can find a a wide range of restaurants, including some lakeside dining places, a short drive away.
If there is any way we can be of help, we look forward to hearing your questions. During the Chautauqua Season we rent by the week, Saturday to Saturday. If you are new to Chautauqua, we recommend its web site, which you can find by searching "Chautauqua Institution" for information about the fabulous entertainment, culture, and education available during the summer season.

Parking during the Program Season is in a reserved spot that we provide in the South Lot 2 blocks from the house. Otherwise, parking is usually available at the house. Confirm that with us.

Located at the North (Elm Lane) entrance to the world reknowned Chautauqua Institution this home is just 25 steps from the gate and trolley pick up and a short 7 minute walk thru the gate to the center of the Institution.

That means you have all the convenience of being in the Institution and all of the flexibility of being outside! This home is the only one on planet Earth that boasts this feature!

The Collingwood was built in 1882 and boasts quintessential Chautauqua charm. Inside the Chautauqua Institution, the house is one block from the lake, with porches for enjoying the gentle breeze off the lake or golden hour light through the trees.

This apartment is a favorite for families or couples who enjoy the privacy of a ground-floor patio.

Dogs are allowed for an additional $30 cleaning fee (per dog, up to 2), and guests must disclose upon booking that they wish to bring a dog.

The master bedroom has a queen bed, and the second bedroom has two twin beds and window AC units. Because this apartment is built into the hill, it stays cool on hot days. Both bedrooms have wall sinks and built-in closets. All rooms have full size windows and ceiling fans.
