This home is a labor of love. This has been a family home for 90 years. This newly refurbished home is meant as a quiet retreat for non smokers. All amenities are included. Please be respectful of this historic home. Only two 3-inch steps opens to an easily accessible house, all on one floor. New dishwasher available. I'll provide coffee. All other food must be provided by guests. There is a small grocery store in town. Enjoy the area! You will love it.

The open concept main floor is bright and cheerful. It boasts an equipped kitchen with island, dining area, seating area, bathroom, and king size bed. The loft can also be rented to sleep four additional guests. Guests can enjoy an evening outside on the patio and will have access to a BBQ grill, a fire ring, and yard games.

Space
For extra guests in your group (after 2) the loft may be rented for $30/night per guest. (Taxes and cleaning are included in the pricing.). There are four single beds in the Loft. Ceiling fans are on both floors. The Cottage has DISH Satellite TV. Enjoy the quiet country with a morning cup of coffee on the patio! And later use the grill or roast hot dogs and marshmallows at the fire ring. Save time to have some fun competition playing "bean bag toss" or "croquet" in the back yard.

Just four miles from Marshall, you will be minutes from shopping, restaurants, and Missouri Valley College.. Also experience the beautiful Courthouse on the Marshall Square, Jim the Wonder Dog Park/Museum, Nicholas Beezley Aviation Museum, Indian Foothills Park with golf and swimming. Not too far is Baltimore Bend Winery, and Peach and Apple Orchards/Markets in Waverly. There is Blind Pony Conservation for fishing near Sweet Springs and Grand Pass Wildlife Area for hunting near Miami. Always a treat is The Lyceum Theatre in historic Arrow Rock.

I hope to meet the guests, but the check-in is easy if that isn't possible. We give our guests their privacy but we are available anytime they need us.

Neighborhood Overview
My husband and I live up the hill from The Little Red Cottage. Pets live on the property. A Bassett hound (Rita) who is friendly and curious, but will not bother you. If you prefer, she can be contained. A yellow cat (Frank) that may hang around. It seems they both like the front porch when we have guests! You may hear an occasional LOUD train whistle! The tracks are very close to the Cottage and the hum of train going by can be soothing.

The garage is normally not for guest use and the Cottage is not equipped with a dishwasher, washer, or dryer.

We ask that guests clean up after themselves, emptying the trash in the trash barrel and washing the dishes before checking out. Leave the linens and towels! We will take care of those. Smoking is allowed OUTSIDE ONLY and please clean up after yourself. Please be respectful of the neighbors and don't engage in any loud or disturbing noises.

The space
This is a large farmhouse, built in 1890, and fully updated. It has been in our family for generations. We use it often for family gatherings so it's well appointed with everything you need for a comfortable stay.

Note that there is no Wifi or TV in the house. But there is good cell phone service, so you can stream through your phones if you want.

The Latch House is one of the oldest homes in Arrow Rock. This home was built in 1829 as a town store home. This property is centrally located one block to the Boardwalk and three blocks to the Lyceum Theater. In 2018, the Latch House was completed renovated and restored. The Latch House is a beautiful 2-Bedroom home that offers a galley style kitchen with state-of-the-art appliances. The Latch House has a beautiful open yard with flower gardens.

Arrow Rock is a small rural town with many attractions. Arrow Rock is home to the Lyceum Theatre and offers many festivals throughout the year. Located on the Boardwalk is merchant's shops and restaurants. If you are looking for a scenic view the Arrow Rock State Park is a beautiful park with a visitor center, picnic areas and hiking trails.
There is not a grocery store in Arrow Rock so you will want to acquire your provisions prior to arrival.

He was super sweet and friendly and knew right away that I was a Dog Mom. The house had a ton of room and cute decor/antiques. The fridge had food in it and I was told that I was welcome to it. The patio was excellent and had a very nice breeze. The temps were in the 80s but the house stayed very cool with ceiling fans in almost every room. This is a working cattle farm and there were lots of cows which added to the ambiance. Very cool place. I highly recommend."

Welcome to the Upside-Down cabin nestled right in the heart of historic Arrow Rock MO. Our adorable historic town is a national historic site located just 1 hour an 45 minutes from Kansas City and just 45 minutes from Columbia MO. This town has so much history and beauty you'll love it as much as we do. There is plenty of space to get outside cute shops and museums and lots of time relax & reset and have fun. The cabin is an easy walk to the Lyceum Theater and boardwalk. Dog/Kids Welcome.

Parking is very easy the cabin has a long drive way & carport which can easily fit 4-plus cars. Other things to know about driving in Arrow Rock there are historic gutters along main st. They are very beautiful but can be rough on the bottom of vehicles, so when going over them drive slow and at an angle. If your car is very low we recommend going around the gutters all together which you can easily do when you come to town take a left on 1st or 8th st. and either st. will take you right to high st. and then right to the upside down cabin without going over a single gutter if you don’t wish to do so.
