- "We and our five grandchildren spent four nights and did day trips to Kitty Hawk, Merchants Millpond State Park, and Jockey's Ridge State Park. Legacy Lodge was a perfect place for us because of the simple but comfortable accommodations and the multitude of fun onsite activities for the kids. There was no boredom, just fun at every turn. The setting is very rural, beautiful, and peaceful. Everything was in very good working order. Kitchen equipment is basic but adequate. We did have not have a good way to boil water for pasta, etc., for example. But we adapted and we would certainly stay here again if in the area."

The space
The extensive renovations of this circa 1930s home, just completed in March 2020, are a nod to styles of the era. The NC-Preservation-approved contractor made conscious and strategic choices in keeping with the styles, trends, and availability of materials during this time period. The kitchen is equipped with a refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher, washer & dryer as well as basic dishes, flatware, coffee maker, and gadgets. Dining space is provided in the kitchen around the peninsula, which is an original feature of the home. Granite countertops have been added to provide a more up-to-date feeling. Bedrooms are furnished with comfy sheets, cozy comforters, fluffy pillows, and luxurious towels. In addition, each bedroom has a wall-mounted, smart TV. The full bathroom has a tub and shower. A smart TV is provided in the den along with comfortable seating for a great place for travelers to relax.

We have 2 units completed, the Henry Ford and the Hot Rod Suites. We are currently working on the Muscle Car and Tesla Suites. We have classic cars that you may request for a chauffered spin around the block or a ride to dinner at one of our local restaurants. Eventually, we plan 1/2 or full day river tours and airplane rides.
