Legacy Lodge was a perfect place for us because of the simple but comfortable accommodations and the multitude of fun onsite activities for the kids. There was no boredom, just fun at every turn. The setting is very rural, beautiful, and peaceful. Everything was in very good working order. Kitchen equipment is basic but adequate. We did have not have a good way to boil water for pasta, etc., for example. But we adapted and we would certainly stay here again if in the area."

The space
The extensive renovations of this circa 1930s home, just completed in March 2020, are a nod to styles of the era. The NC-Preservation-approved contractor made conscious and strategic choices in keeping with the styles, trends, and availability of materials during this time period. The kitchen is equipped with a refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher, washer & dryer as well as basic dishes, flatware, coffee maker, and gadgets. Dining space is provided in the kitchen around the peninsula, which is an original feature of the home. Granite countertops have been added to provide a more up-to-date feeling. Bedrooms are furnished with comfy sheets, cozy comforters, fluffy pillows, and luxurious towels. In addition, each bedroom has a wall-mounted, smart TV. The full bathroom has a tub and shower. A smart TV is provided in the den along with comfortable seating for a great place for travelers to relax.

We have classic cars that you may request for a chauffered spin around the block or a ride to dinner at one of our local restaurants. Eventually, we plan 1/2 or full day river tours and airplane rides.

- "My family and I stayed here for the weekend for my daughter's volleyball tournament and it was a great stay. The host sent the check-in information the day of with all the details ee needed. The house was in a quiet, cute neighborhood that was close to restaurants, grocery stores, and most importantly the Rocky Mount Event Center. The house was very clean, decorated tastefully, and felt homey. The kitchen included paper towels, trash bags, dish soap, coffee, and dishwasher tabs. The bathrooms had plenty of towels, shampoo and body wash and toilet paper. I have stayed at several VRBO homes and have never seen one so well stocked. I already looked to see if the property was available for our next tournament weekend and unfortunately it is not, but I would definitely stay here again if it were."

- "We stayed here while my mom was in the hospital. We needed a place that was pet-friendly. Kourtney helped us out with a late check-out so that we had somewhere to keep them as we moved locations. The place was convenient to the hospital and a good place to rest for the night." - "I have stayed at multiple Vrbos and AirBnb’s, this was by far one of the worst stays. The cleanliness of this home was not good. I’m SO glad I travel with disinfecting wipes and spray because I had to clean the bathrooms and bedrooms. There was dust everywhere and the floors were dirty as if the place was not touched in months. There were stings of hair in the bathrooms that needed to be cleaned as well. One of the fees included, to pay 160 in cleaning fees and the place was not clean to begin with. The comforter in the back room needs to be replaced as it was so old and dingy I barely touched it. The sleep on the beds were extremely uncomfortable, I ended up sleeping on the sofa for relief to my back. While there is a deadbolt on the front door the bottom lock to the front door was broken and would not lock. Overall my stay was not pleasant and I will not return. "

The space

A casually clean house that feels like you're visiting friends.

Willow, the dog, will greet you barking noisily at the door until you come in and she gets to meet you, she's a lovebug. While we adore her, you are absolutely welcome to lock her and her cat siblings out of your room or you may find them all in your bed. They believe everyone is here to visit them and them alone.

Once you make it to your room, you'll find a cozy queen sized bed with fresh sheets and a clean, SHARED, "Jack and Jill" bathroom with any toiletry you might need at hand. Flat screen tv with subscriptions to Netflix, hulu and amazon prime is also in your room along with wi-fi. Tucked in the corner you'll find a coffee bar with an updated selection of a few brews you may enjoy, a Keurig and all the usual coffee fixings. Also, in your room, is a mini fridge available for your convenience.

Occasionally, our parrots will remind you they too are a part of the back drop by breaking up the silence - VERY LOUDLY. If uninterrupted silence is what you're after, this is not the place for you.

Overall, this is a casual place to stay if you find yourself in the area. The parrots are sometimes loud and the bathroom is occasionally shared depending on if another guest is staying at the same time. But, we'd love to welcome you and hope your stay with us is amazing!

Relax with the family at this peaceful place to stay. The Getaway located between Enfield, NC and Scotland Neck, NC in the Dawson community off I95 Halifax County, NC offers you the opportunity to get away from it all in a serene, clean place. You’ll stay off the 18th hole at Scotfield Country Club. Catch the best sunsets from the mailbox, relax on our large back deck and soak in the peaceful sounds of country life away from it all. We’re the only mobile home in this small getaway community.

The space
You’ll enter with a code through the porch on the front to the entry foyer which doubles as an office. To the right is the master bedroom with a single and double platform bed. A pack and play is available but bring your own linens. That bedroom includes a large bathroom with a step in shower. The middle of the home is the open kitchen, dining and living area with a table with 5 chairs, microwave, toaster, full sized refrigerator, Roku television with a Peacock subscription, a love seat, and a couch. The back door leads to our deck complete with twinkle lights, an umbrella table with four chairs, and a picnic table that seats six on the lower deck platform. The back yard goes to right behind the water bearer statue. Back inside, the hall bathroom includes a tub and shower massager. The second bedroom includes a double bed and a Roku tv. There is a fire pit beside the back deck.

Guest access
You have full access to the home, front yard, and back yard that goes to the water bearer. You can park in the two car gravel parking place or in front of the home (3 car limit) The private path makes a great walk to the mailbox. We recommend sunset watching there.

Other things to note
Weekly linen exchange may be possible for longer stays for $35. Please ask. We are situated just across the pond from Scotfield Preserve, a fabulous wedding and event venue and Scotfield Country Club.
