- "Great location, quick walk to downtown Excelsior. The house is super cute! I was worried it would be a little crowded with 9 of us girls, but it was perfect. My sister ran into some of the neighbors and said they were so nice! A few things that would be a nice addition in comparison to what I’ve seen at other rentals I’ve stayed in are a larger full length mirror, brighter lighting in the main floor living room and bathroom, extra sleeping pillows and an organized central location for extra towels, sheets, etc. Most of closets had a random extra towel or sheet here and there but most of them weren’t folded so we didn’t know if they were clean or dirty and ended up doing laundry. I also was hoping for a more detailed instruction list on how to clean before we left, there were only instructions for taking out the trash. Overall though, I would recommend staying there and probably would again!"

Beautiful newly remodeled home right on Lake Minnetonka! This 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom lakefront home has everything you need for an amazing getaway. This home is in the town of Tonka Bay, just 3 miles to all the shops and restaurants of downtown Excelsior and Wayzata. It sits right on the water with sunset views of some of the most gorgeous bays on Lake Minnetonka. The home has its own dock to use for your water sports and adventuring on the lake during your stay.

LAYOUT:

This home comes with access allowed to its 3 car finished garage. The driveway is big enough for additional parking.

The home has a master suite on the main floor, with its own en suite full bath with 2 sinks and a walk in shower. There is an additional bedroom on the main floor with a twin over full bunk bed perfect for a kids room, but comfortable enough for an additional adult couple. The living room boasts a newly remodeled modern décor, fireplace, and open floor plan with a large dining area and kitchen. The dining table sits 8 with additional seating at the kitchen island. The kitchen is newly remodeled with high end appliances, solid surface counter tops and a large island for hosting and gathering. The kitchen is fully stocked with a four-burner gas stove, dishwasher, and all the amenities needed for some gourmet cooking.

The back of the home has a spacious three seasons room with comfortable seating to enjoy yet more views of the lake.

The second floor has an additional two bedrooms, each with its own king bed, a loft area with its own reading nook, and an additional bonus room with extra sleeping space, games for kids, and a movie room. The bonus room is stocked with video games, board games, kids books, and plenty of space for the kids to play and enjoy themselves while leaving the rest of the house for the parents to enjoy. The second floor has its own deck with its own seating area to enjoy spectacular views of the lake.

The home also has a third floor bonus room with 360 degree views of Lake Minnetonka. This vista room is set up to be used as an office, workout room, or sitting room. It’s the perfect place to catch up on some computer work, read, get a spin workout in, or enjoy a visit over a cup of coffee all while enjoying unbeatable views of the lake. An additional queen blow up bed and full-size futon is available upon your request!

Nestled above Hwy 7 and 41 which is a perfect location for Minnetonka East Schools and shopping, this beautifully appointed home has a 2 story family room (built in 2017) with custom remote controlled blinds, white kitchen with grey and white granite counter tops with a hint of blue open to the main level. Deck is on the main level as well.

Master is on the main with 10' ceilings, and oversized shower. There is an office in the main level and upper level. Three bedrooms and a loft on upper level, master bedroom in main level, all custom blinds installed. Lower level has a gigantic family room/game room area and a bedroom.

We recently updated to fiber optic internet (400MB download speeds) and have a wifi 6 nest system through the house. Which would be prefect for working, 4K streaming and connecting multiple devices at the same time - 2/4/2022

Fun things to do:

Walkable
North coop restaurant has really good food like chicken and waffles, great brunch, cocktails and beer. It’s a 3 minute walk from the house. You could see it from the deck. There is a taco place right next to it called BB papi’s tacos that has some of the best tacos in town as well.

Downtown Excelsior
Checkout downtown excelsior for the shopping and dining scene. If you are into breweries we would recommend Excelsior brewing (hailed as one of Minnesota’s best breweries). Everything is walkable in downtown excelsior so you could walk from the brewery along Water street.

Some upscale restaurants include Coalition (American and best old fashions) and Yumi Japanese Restaurant & Bar.

Lakefront dining is best at lord fletchers or Maynard’s. These are iconic lake restaurants that can tend to get very busy in the weekends especially during the summer. Plan to make reservations ahead of time if summer.

If you’d like to rent a boat during the summer. Most marinas have boat rentals. We recommend the your boat club establishment. There’s two locations on lake Minnetonka: smiths bay or browns bay.

The heated, in-ground pool is open from mid-May through mid-September (weather permitting).

The primary bedroom (upper floor) has a king bed, loveseat, fireplace, TV and adjacent full bathroom.

Bedroom 2 (upper floor) has a queen bed, two twin beds and ensuite bathroom with 48" shower.

Bedroom 3 has a queen bed and TV. It is located on the main floor.

Bedroom 4 has a queen bed. There is a full bathroom with shower and bathtub down the hall. This bedroom is on the lower level.

There are three separate group gathering areas and cozy quiet areas when you need some space. There is a private, quiet office/workout room in the lower level where you can get some work done or stream your favorite yoga class.

There is video surveillance outside the house. If you or anyone else in your group is uncomfortable with exterior video surveillance, we kindly ask you to book elsewhere.

Children are welcome, however please be aware the home is not set up for young children. The home is not child-proofed.

Though we treat the house for pests including spiders, insects and mice, and employ a spray service to control mosquitos during the summer months, this is a reality of nature. Our space may not be a fit for those who are extremely phobic of these and other wildlife.

We were mesmerized watching families of ducks and geese swim and stroll through the yard. The house is huge with plenty of room for everyone. In addition, the house is located very close to the heart of Excelsior with plenty of great restaurants and shopping. Anna was wonderful and so helpful to us during our stay. The only thing I would mention to future renters is to be aware that there are a lot of bugs due to the proximity of the lake. Approximately half of our 742 acre lake is not occupied - we are known as a more "chill" lake than our nearby well known Lake Minnetonka - which we all love for different reasons. The roots of Lake Minnewashta vary in a different way! Our lake is known for waterskiing - complete with a resident managed water ski course along the north shore. We are also home to one of the most well know YMCA camps - Camp Tanadoona and most recently the fall / winter Sauna Camp which is an easy walk in the winter from Lakehus when the water is frozen.

LakeHus is located just minutes to downtown Excelsior 8 min, Wayzata 20 min, Lake Minnetonka 10 min, Hazeltine National Golf Club 10 min, in addition to a number of other well known private and public courses. We are also walkable to well known The MN Landscape Arboretum 1 mile and approximately 30m to Mpls / SP International Airport. There are boatclubs nearby as well if you choose to want to rent your own boat for a fun day excursion.

I'm usually around during breakfast and other times when I'm home. Sometimes I'll be busy with my own things. Feel free to chat when I'm available, or if you prefer some quiet time, that's perfectly okay too.

I’d love to greet you and show you around the house whenever possible. Please let me know your expected arrival time as soon as you can, and keep me updated if anything changes. This helps me plan my day accordingly.

Public transportation in my area is limited, so if you're arriving without a car, you'll likely need to use Uber or Lyft to get around.

Noise Level / Quiet Hours: The Parties are expected to keep noise down to a reasonable level during the day. Between 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM, noise should be kept to a minimum.

Fire Arms: Firearms of any kind, including handguns, rifles, and shotguns, are not allowed on the premises.

The Ches Mar Garden Flat is a cute and comfortable room that's perfect for girls' weekends to the nearby wineries, family trips to the nearby lakes, a cozy night in on a work trip, or a photogenic staycation.

With a private entrance on the side of our house, free parking, and enough space to breathe and relax, the Flat is a wonderful space for creativity and comfort. We are smack dab in the middle of dozens of local lakes, several wineries, beautiful farms, and lots of delicious restaurants.

You'll drive up to a white house with black shutters. Once you park near the orange cone, you'll walk across the back of the house towards the flat, which is located on the exact opposite side!

The Garden Flat is attached and a part of our home, but has a complete separate entrance and has been made private just for you.

You're welcome to enjoy the entire Garden Flat, the small patio space outside the Flat, and the pool if you're interested in sharing space with myself and my family.

The cottage has a full kitchen with stovetop, oven, microwave and refrigerator. The living/dining area includes a comfy sofa as well as a dining table that expands to seat six.

The bedroom includes a queen-size bed with high-quality linens and pillow top mattress cover, as well as an oversized closet.

The living room sofa converts to a full size bed (best for children or smaller adults).

The cottage's entry area includes a small mudroom for you to store your coats, shoes, and more. A full-size washer and dryer is also located in the mudroom.

In the warmer months, guests may enjoy spending time on the cottage's patio under the shade of one of the parcel's decades-old trees.

Mission House Cottage is located in an active neighborhood close to some of Excelsior's most popular events and activities, including those that take place at Excelsior Commons. Depending on time of year, you may see softball players on the way to a game at the ball field, concertgoers on the way to enjoy one of the free concerts in the Commons, or crowds bundled up to watch the annual dog sled race. And while the cottage has a full kitchen, guests are only two blocks away from Excelsior's main street, Water Street, where they will find numerous restaurants and shops.

The Apiary is a spacious one-bedroom apartment nestled in the heart of downtown Excelsior, MN. Discover the allure of the historic landmark known as the Beehive. Lovingly restored, offering you a tranquil retreat in a vibrant lakeside community.

Dating back to 1857, the Beehive proudly stands as Excelsior’s first two-story building. Throughout its renovation, I was especially mindful of honoring and preserving the integrity of its past while creating a lasting union with a modern future. Original beams, brick, and gorgeous textural stone walls were exposed, complemented by large expanses of glass, clean modern lines, wrapping the new addition in charred cedar (using the ancient Japanese technique Shou Sugi Ban).

Greeted by a spacious private patio, a serene space invites you into airy, open-plan living. Luxury finishes and ample natural light combined to embrace you in a warm and welcoming boho vibe. The fully equipped kitchen caters to your culinary needs, while the dining room hutch stands at the ready; stocked with all the essentials to whip up a favorite cocktail or decant a bottle of wine. The Apiary entrance is located at the back of the building. Upon arrival, either park in the driveway spot indicated in your Welcome Guide for direct access, or walk around to the back of the building via the alleyway to the right of the building. The Apiary is unit #3.
During your stay, we want you to feel right at home, and that's why we're delighted to let you know that you have unrestricted access to the entire unit. This includes the spacious patio, the inviting backyard, and all the wonderful amenities it offers, such as the fire pit and the "Grill and Chill" area. So, go ahead, make yourself comfortable, and enjoy the full experience of our Airbnb retreat.

Other things to note
Please note that there are two approximately 2-inch tall steps in The Apiary unit. One is located at the entrance to the hallway, and the other at the entrance to the bedroom. Kindly exercise caution when moving around to ensure a safe and comfortable stay.

The space
The whole house is yours to enjoy! It isn’t the Ritz but it’ll do! It’s a bit of a quirky house actually but it does boast a full kitchen & huge deck with a grill. It’s fully furnished with lots of beds and spaces. Don’t be looking for a Beautyrest bed but enjoy a place to lay your head and clean linens. We have some airbeds if needed.

You have one acre and 120 ft of lakeshore to enjoy. Bring a kayak or SUP and enjoy our 100 acre back yard of pure lake bliss! We have a dock and raft for your use. Feel free to bring your own yard games and lake toys! There's also miles of trails for biking and walking with access from our property. So bring your walking shoes, roller blades or bikes!

3 of the 4 bedrooms are in the lower level. If you have trouble with stairs, this may not be the place for you. You’re welcome to bring your own airbeds and sheets to set up in the living room or 4 season porch so you can wake up to a wall of windows looking out at the lake. If you sleep on the couch, you must put sheets on it to sleep on top of. If we find a guest has slept on the couch without sheets under them, we reserve the right to charge for furniture cleaning/shampooing.

The bathroom on the main floor is a half bath. The full baths with showers and tubs are in the lower level. There are also many stairs to get to the lake. If you have trouble with stairs, this may not be the spot for you.

Pets are welcome. Pets are people too. The listed pet fee is per pet per stay for our four legged guests. If you have more than one pet, we’ll need to approve that in advance. Please let us know details of your pet when you make your reservation request. If deposits are left in yard, you’ll be billed. If you have a tendency to not pick up da poppy, this may not be the place for you.

Please wash all dishes used during your stay! Dish soap is provided. Do not leave dirty dishes in sink or on counters. All dishes used must be cleaned and returned to their appropriate spaces? If you use the dishwasher, DO NOT use the "heat dry" option. Plastic plates and glasses may melt. Be sure to check that "Heat Dry" is turned off. There are notes in the cupboard where the dishes are located.

There are enough dishes for 12 people. It is not a bad idea to bring paper plates and compostable/ recyclable silverware and cups.

There’s a laundry. Please bring your own detergent if you intend to do your laundry during your stay.

There are two ovens. The top one has self cleaning. So if your dishes tend to overflow, we'd really appreciate you using the top oven and wiping up the overflow as best you can. Thank you.

There's a dehumidifier in the lower level. If it gets too humid or damp for you in the lower level, turn it on. It will pull the humidity out in no time!! Leave it on long enough and it will pull the moisture right out of your skin!

There's a fire pit. Bring your own dry wood. You may find plenty of wood around the property. However, it might not be dry. So best to stop at the gas station and get yourself a nice, dry bunch. We recommend getting some marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate while you're there. Be sure fire is out before you head in for the night.

Use of property and any lake toys are at your own risk. Return them to their proper homes when you have finished.

If you're a small party of two using a small portion of the home, let us know. We can work a reduced cleaning rate for you. It's a big house!

Events including additional guests above the confirmed reservation must be approved. Event fees of $40/additional guest will apply. Inquire and approve before your stay. If day guests arrive during your stay that have not been approved, an added fee/guest/day will be assessed at $50/guest. This behavior may result in immediate cancellation of your reservation without refund as is consistent with Airbnb policy. We allow events that are discussed, approved and payment agreed upon prior to a reservation. We do not allow events that are a surprise and not discussed and approved of ahead of time. Communication is key.

Parking is limited to 5 cars. If you expect to have more, we need to discuss and arrange for alternative parking solutions. There may be walking involved and an additional fee for additional cars. PARK on the gravel driveway. DO NOT PARK ON THE GRASS. And absolutely DO NOT park on the neighbors yard. There is a pink string along the property line. Tho shalt not cross the pink line! :-) We do not have room for trailers and there is no public access on our lake. If you plan to bring a boat and trailer for use on another lake in the area, discuss this at the time of reserving so we can help you plan and make this possible.

Other than that, have a blast! It’s a super cool spot!

Guest access
Park up to two cars by the garage as if you were going to pull into the garage. This way you can back out and pull straight out of the driveway. DO NOT Park cars on the decline of asphalt leading to the garage and front door. Any damage to cars hitting retaining wall are responsibility of the driver and car owner. Three cars can fit around the island of the drive way without blocking the decline of asphalt to the garage and front door. No parking is allowed on any grass areas or the island of the circle drive. If you’re on rock or asphalt, you can park on it. If isis permeable ground or grass, you cannot. Parking on anything but rock or asphalt may result in a fee to repair yard.
