'The Main Street Guest House' is a charming vacation rental home located right in the center of Historic Main Street in St. Charles, Missouri, the site of Missouri's first state capitol and starting point of the famous Lewis and Clark expedition. Located at #422 S. Main Street, this family friendly home has 3 newly remodeled levels, with a total of 6 beds (2 king, 4 twin), sleeping 8 people, as well as a luxurious master suite on the lower level that is perfect for couples.
The main floor of the house that walks directly out on to Main Street, has an open floor plan with comfortable living room with a large gas fireplace to snuggle up to, large flat screen TV with DVD player, full kitchen with high end cabinetry, refrigerator, stove/oven, microwave, dishwasher, and plenty of seating for meals with a great view out to the Missouri River. Huge rough sawn walnut support beams decorate the ceiling.
The 2nd floor bedroom suite, with 12' vaulted ceilings and large walnut support beams, sleeps 6 people. There is a large dormer overlooking Frontier Park, the old Train Depot and cabooses, and a beautiful view of the Missouri River flowing north that includes the custom built in king bed. Across the room there are 4 individual twin beds (2 sets of custom bunks) that allow for everyone to have their own comfy bed. Every bed comes with their own private lighting to make guests feel as comfortable as possible. There is also a giant flat screen clearly viewed from every bed for all to enjoy a movie night or game night on the Nintendo Wii. Also on this level is a full bathroom including a tiled walk in shower with dual shower-valves, and a sitting area with mirror for extra space to get ready, and the dormer on the front by the vanity overlooks the cobblestoned streets of Main.
The lower level includes the private master suite with a king bed, another flat screen TV, and full master bath including a large walk in tiled shower with two shower valves. Enjoy a huge Jacuzzi whirlpool tub heated with 136 gallon water capacity with Shiatzu massaging jets, and Chroma therapy lighted water. Two large fireplaces are also includes in the master suite. One fireplace is located next to the king bed and another in the master bathroom completely viewable from both the large walk in shower and whirlpool tub to add to your experience. Also on the lower level in a separate room, is a full laundry area for our guest to use.
The historic home has been 100% completely remodeled in 2013 and designed entirely with vacation renters in mind. All modern amenities are included such as two 80 gallon hot water heaters so you never run out of hot water, two separate heating and cooling systems so separate floors can control desired temperatures, cable TV, Wifi, Keurig coffee maker, and so much more. The location is excellent. Walk out your front door directly onto the cobblestone sidewalk along the one of the largest historic districts on the national registry. Countless shopping and dining options await you, all within walking distance (less than a half mile in either direction). The best part, most are unique businesses that you won't find anywhere else, like Braddens restaurant, Lewis and Clark restaurant, Winery of the Little Hills (great outdoor seating with fire pits located right across the street),The Mother-in-Law House restaurant 98ft away, The Hobbit Hole Antiques, Moss next door for some of the latest fashion, Trailhead Brewery, Grandmas Cookies a few doors down, Kat and Me, and countless others. A personal favorite with our family of four small of children is Riverside Sweets located only two doors down where visitors of all ages can enjoy some of the best ice cream, homemade candy and fudge, caramel apples, and walls of candy and collectibles to choose from. A few blocks north, Picasso's offers a great cup of coffee and some live music at times. Grab breakfast at The Bikestop Cafe and rent a bike for a peaceful ride on The Katy Trail just a few hundred feet from the home. Ameristar Casino is also located within a mile of the home just outside the Historic area for those looking for a little nightlife. Two major malls, Mid-Rivers Mall, and St. Louis Premium Outlet Mall, are located 10 minutes in either direction. This problem only happens if temperatures are set below 70 F, so we limit it to 72 F.

The Lewis & Clark Guest House is a historic cottage that has been thoughtfully remodeled into a luxurious retreat while still keeping the feel of its colonial heritage- perfect for a romantic getaway or small group. This charming home was built in 1793 and once owned by the Commandant of St. Charles, Don Carlos Tayon. He lived here when Merriwether Lewis and William Clark arrived and met with him presumably in this house! The main entrance opens into a gorgeous master bedroom with king, 4 post bed, quality linens, and down comforter. From the bed you can view the large stone and brick hearth with gas flame stove, perfect for snuggling up on a chilly night. There is also two upholstered sitting chairs and a table for relaxing or reading and taking your morning coffee. A flat screen TV, and armoire are also included for your convenience.
A set of lovely double doors leads you into an amazingly luxurious and unique master bathroom. Stone steps lead you up to the oversized raised jetted tub with brick surround. Adjacent to that is the expansive tiled shower complete with two sets of shower systems including multiple rainfall shower heads and body sprayers. From the tub and the shower, you can see another fireplace set into a stone hearth and an additional flat screen tv above it. Also in the suite is a separate room with the toilet, an antique dresser made into the vanity, and large capacity washer/dryer behind two doors.
Off the back of the bedroom is a charming sitting room with a built in seating area with a twin mattress and numerous soft pillows for the ultimate comfort in lounging or extra sleeping space if needed. There is an additional tv in this room as well for viewing from your cozy retreat.

Amply outfitted with high end appliances, this full kitchen make dining in a joy. Head outside with your morning coffee to the beautiful fully privacy-fenced backyard. The historic brick patio welcomes you with comfortable seating amd tiki torches. You sit out under the enormous tulip tree, and enjoy the evening, cuddling by the fires.

- "We travel often and are always looking for a clean place to stay with all the bells & whistles. By far this place has been the best. It was just a few blocks from Main Street St. Charles. We brought our bikes and were able to ride the Katy Trail. The place had beautiful natural wood throughout the house with amazing lighting. Everything was updated. The bed I slept in was very cozy. The weather was great so we sat outside on the patio in the morning and evening. The neighbors were quiet and friendly. We would definitely stay here again!"

Historic loft centrally located along the St. Charles riverfront, on the north end of Main Street and just south of Frenchtown. Enjoy Frontier Park, shops, restaurants, and night scene - all within walking distance.

The newly renovated 2 bedroom and 2 full bathroom apartment can easily accommodate groups of six. The completely updated kitchen has granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and a dishwasher. Convenient in-house washer and dryer available for extended stays.

1) No visitors allowed unless discussed with owner.

2) $15 extra guest fee after 4 guests

3) Air conditioner minimum temperature is 72 Fahrenheit. All units have new air conditioners. But the red brick walls have no insulation and during the hot weather if the air conditioner is pushed too hard, it will create blocks of ice inside it then quit working until the ice melts. This problem only happens if temperatures are set below 70 F, so we limit it to 72 F.
