The bed, pull out couch and cot were all comfortable. Thank you for a great stay! " - "have stayed at this hotel many times and enjoyed each time. have never had and issue. Staff is friendly and helpful, Love joseph at the front desk he is so nice and helpful! " - "It was really nice, the employees were nice, the pool area was beautiful, they helped out with everything we asked for! I loved it I would definitely go again. The only bad thing I would say is that it was “quiet time” after 10. I believe on the weekend having a ten clock curfew while your on vacation time is a little ridiculous… "

- "Clean quiet cabin on an exceptionally clear lake. Great for relaxing, swimming, kayaking and fishing. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys water activities with their family. Nice restaurants and shopping close by." - "This lake cottage was perfect for our family of four for nearly two weeks this summer. By the end of our stay, the house truly felt like home. Jane was a wonderful host who was very responsive. The house itself is older and has some wear, but honestly this adds to its charm (save for a few issues that were promptly addressed). Our family also fell in love with Alexander Lake, and hope to return next summer. The lake is peaceful and wonderful for swimming and kayaking. The house has no AC but we were hardly ever without a wonderful breeze coming off the lake, and rarely got hot. The grill does need some attention- we could only ever get one burner to light which made it a bit hard to cook out. Overall, my only hesitation in writing this review is concern that the house will become harder and harder to book. We already plan on returning next summer. ❤️"

Get away from it all when you stay under the stars. This retro cabin feels like the times of yesterday. Rustic interior brings to mind summers of our childhood. Open beams, simple living, a place to get away and daydream, visit with friends and family or restore your life force. Enjoy the spacious screen porch that overlooks the Camp. Listen to the owl that hoots at night. Hike on the trails nearby or float on the pond.
- "Perfect " - "The cabin was adorable. Was originally going to be 4 of us sharing it but ended up only being two of us. It was just the right size for 4 people though as I worried based on photos. Very quiet and the owner was friendly and helpful. " - "Once we finally found the cabin, we loved it. It's not marked very well as there are other cabins that are similar. We had to get the pic out to look at the details of the cabin (windows, doors, etc). Once we saw which one it was, trying to get to it was a bit tricky but we made it. The cabin is super cute inside! There is a separate shower that is in one of the bedrooms (literally next to the bed ;) ) Fishing wasn't great as there was too much milfoy or whatever it was up near the beach area. Took the canoe out and the same. Maybe way out in the middle, it would have been fine, but it was getting late and we gave up. The cabin is very open (not ceilings - just rafters) so you hear EVERYTHING! We set out on the covered porch for breakfast and it was lovely! You are fairly close to the road so you do hear road noises but it wasn't bad. The beds were comfy! Would definitely come back here again!!"

The kids loved it, and we all slept comfortable every night. We were lucky enough to stay during the 4th, and the fireworks display over the lake was amazing and completely unexpected. A great bonus that we will remember !! And if that wasn’t good enough, the owners went out of their way to make our stay even better by dropping off supplies and always being available. - "We absolutely loved our stay it was everything I wanted and more. We plan on staying again." - "What a wonderful weekend our book club had staying in the beautiful lake front house! So relaxing, and quiet! Great little town with charming little places to enjoy. Our visit to the local winery was so much fun and the gals there told us to check out a local town celebration which we enjoyed going to. I can’t think of one thing that would have made this weekend any better! We would definitely recommend staying here, and look forward to possibly making this a yearly destination."

The kitchen was well stocked with pots/pans and other cooking utensils which made meal prep very easy. The owners live on the property and were very respectful of my privacy. The studio is a short drive to downtown Putnam where you can walk around, have a meal, or sit in the park. Really charming place."

- "Excellent place to stay to relax. Quiet and well appointed. " - "It was absolutely beautiful! Very clean and exactly like the photos. Super quiet and peaceful. The only issues were needing a boost to get in the bed because they are high and im quite short. A stool would be helpful. And the shower is quite small but we made it work. The stay was so great we didn't mind these 2 things enough to bother about it. I would stay there again if I'm in the area!"

- "Check in was straightforward and easy. Nikki very generously offered dry goods and food from the pantry and fridge. The view was magnificent from the master bedroom and living room and her couch was so comfy that I actually slept on it one night. Walking the property and taking a dip in the water recharged my batteries for my upcoming final exams at University. It was quiet enough during my stay to admire the singing of various birds. I played music and did yoga from her TV while gazing at the water. The peace and serenity derived from doing so was cathartic. Without getting too personal in the details, I was able to meditate and spiritually heal from troubles in my past by simply admiring the view and her gorgeous landscape painting in the living room. I’m so blessed to have been Nikki’s guest and the value that I received from my trip at her property is immeasurable."

Folks from all backgrounds and identities are welcome at The Farmette.
Ideal for couples, solo travelers, a small family, or friends. Please include all individuals (& pets) in your booking.
This is an 1800s saltbox replica with large windows overlooking pine, oak, and red maple trees, as well as a wall that shows off the foundation stones. The in-law studio has a private entrance on the ground floor with a small private deck, full double-sink bathroom with a unique spa-like shower, a coffee maker, a water bubbler, a microwave/air fryer, and refrigerator. There is one queen bed with a very comfortable bamboo mattress and down duvet. The kitchenette area has a table that can double as a place to work remotely (with great wifi). There is a large closet, as well as a cozy couch where you can watch Netflix and live TV, or look out at the beautiful scenery. You also have private access to a grill. The (unheated) pool and hot tub are surrounded by trees and are accessible 24 hours (pool is open April-October). The three-floor barn is home to chickens, ducks, goat, sheep, a mini horse, and pigs, our animal rescues through our small non-profit, The Farmette Sanctuary.
This is a great place to rest and rejuvenate during your stay while never leaving the property (Doordash delivers!), or take advantage of the many things to do nearby - go on a hike at the Thompson dam or a local state park, visit Old Sturbridge Village (the largest living museum in the Northeast), or listen to live music at a brewery or pub.
My wife, dogs (Bentley, Sparkle, and Polly), and I live on the other floors of the house and love welcoming folks to our space. We are happy to give you a tour and share about the property, or give you space to have a private getaway.
You will have private access to the studio. The unheated pool, hot tub, garden, barn, and trail are shared use.
Hosts live on the main/second floor and will be around and available to answer questions or help as needed.
Let Sandra know if you’re interested in a private hourlong yoga practice. $25 for one person, $30 for two. Accessible to all levels of yoga practitioners, including if it’s your first time.
There is no lifeguard on duty. The pool area is gated off - please exercise caution and safety and swim/enjoy the hot tub at your own risk. Note that the wood planks around the pool are wobbly, please walk carefully and use caution as you enter/exit the pool. Additionally, please use extreme caution if using the outdoor rock steps to get to the studio entrance (please note that there is only one step if you enter by the garage side).
Please be sure to include in your booking if you will bring a child or a pet with you on your visit. We set up the space slightly differently if we are expecting children or dogs, and it’s important for us to know who is staying in our home. Please note there is a $50 pet fee and we have a Pack and Play available for young children.
Please note there is no stovetop in the space - no stovetop cooking is allowed as there is no exhaust fan in the kitchenette. You have private access to an outdoor grill, and a cast iron skillet and saucepan are provided for your use on the grill as well as oil, salt, pepper, and basic cooking utensils. Be sure to use the oven mit when holding the handles as they get very HOT on the grill. Dirty dishes can be placed in the basket and left outside if you would like us to wash them overnight (please inform us if you would like this service. You can also wash them using the dish soap provided in the bathroom).
The Farmette is in a Rural Residential Agricultural District. That means there's a local mix of residences and farms (livestock and agriculture). While you get a rural feel, we're only a few minute drive away from grocery stores, shops, etc.
Guests will need a car as there is no local public transportation. The farmette is only 3 minutes from Exit 50 off of interstate 395, so you can quickly get to Thompson center, Putnam, or Webster (grocery stores, Target, restaurants, etc within 10-15 min). There is plenty of parking space available on the farmette, including for trailers.
- "Location was beautiful, and the property was well kept and high quality! Pool and hot tub were fantastic. Communication was great and anything needed was met with no problems at all. Highly recommend if you're looking for a woodsy get-away!" - "Beautiful and quiet location" - "What’s hidden gem! From the wildlife to the barn animals! It was simply a slice of heaven! The hosts were equally off the charts amazing as well! For that alone, will bring me back for sure! It was an awesome stay! Wish it were longer!"

Alm the rules and policies were clearly laid out, and we had a great time using the canoes to go around the lake! Pool was clean and the campground was a great place to walk around. Definitely staying again!" - "The check in and out times were very strange. Also I’d suggest bringing your own wood you can buy theirs but they don’t dry it out and it doesn’t burn completely or correctly so the campfire was very very very small and mostly smoke. It is cute and the cabin was a lot smaller then expected but still had a good time didn’t get to enjoy it all because again it’s like there wasn’t enough time. "

- "From the start, Sighly was an amazing communicator as we messaged to make sure this would be a good fit. The house is thoughtfully restored, with modern amenities (kitchen is updated, AC is cold) but a classic New England feel. The original wooden floors give a familiar (at least for me) creak that gives it the old school charm, and they picked out some great, comfy chairs to relax and read a book in There's a church, library, and farm stand within walking distance - the farm stand is seriously worth a visit, the milk, ice cream, and beef we're all the best we've had. The neighbors are friendly, and the area is quiet. We were in the area to see family, but enjoyed some of Sighly 's recommendations and some we found in our own (The Vanilla Bean Cafe and Black Dog Bar and Grill were favorites, and we enjoyed take out from the Thai Basil while the kids had pizza from Woodstock Pizza & Grill). Downtown Putnam was worth a visit, and even the kids found some treasures in the antique shops, as well as visiting the nearby game shop. Well worth a visit!"

Our B&B is fully licensed by the Northeast District Department of Health and the Town of Woodstock, CT.

SURROUNDS
Located just 2-minutes from Route 169, ranked among the nation's "Top 10 Most Scenic Routes." The town of Woodstock is part of "Connecticut's Quiet Corner" and the "Last Green Valley." This part of the state is known for it's pristine farmland, rolling hills, fall foliage and gorgeous peaceful countryside.
Fairlane Farm, a gracious, preserved antique with scenic farmland, anchors the neighborhood. 103 Center Cemetery Road abuts the farm's fields.
Although the area is serene and breathtaking, there is much to see and do! Please see my complete list of suggested recommendations in "Other Details to Note" below.
INSIDE
The In-Law Suite has a separate entry off the back courtyard. Your east-facing Suite features fresh paint, new wall-to-wall plush carpeting & Serena & Lily furnishings.
Living Room with paneled, gas fireplace, coat closet plus double door access to the full-width three-season porch.
Kitchenette with oven, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, refrigerator, plenty of cabinetry. You'll find the Kitchen stocked with fresh local coffee, milk and eggs.
Bedroom with double closet and two windows. One overlooks a lilac tree, and the other looks out onto the Porch and lawn beyond. The plush, queen-sized adjustable bed offers Egyptian cotton sheets and Serena and Lily bedding.
Bathroom with large, tiled shower, handicap bars, linen closet, mirrored vanity and WC.
The 20' x 9' screened Porch offers the perfect area to read, relax and take in the grounds and country setting. Screens change out for glass panels during the winter.
All windows have easy-to-operate blinds and the Bedroom itself has "black-out" blinds.
The space is exceptionally quiet with 2"x6" construction and modern insulation.
There are 3 steps up to the porch and 1 step into the suite. The unit is wheel-chair accessible inside the unit.
OUTSIDE
You'll want to spend as much time outside as inside at this relaxing retreat. The lawn is cut weekly in season (May - October) usually on a Thursday morning.
Swimming Pool.
The salt-water, gunite pool is open May 1st - Oct 1st. Teak chaise-lounges and benches with umbrellas for you to relax in comfort.
Patio
The spacious bluestone patio offers inviting seating areas as well as high-end weathered teak tables and chairs for dining al fresco. Seasonal perennial gardens, featuring hydrangea, roses & honeysuckle, edge the patio. Large "market" umbrellas provide shade. A firepit on the patio with cut wood on the front porch and along the driveway at your disposal.
Lawn
At the far end of the Porch, you'll find lawn games along with lawn blankets, a picnic basket and yoga mats.

Not completely even, but a great way to work up a sweat none the less! Basketball is on your Porch.

🎆 No Fireworks: To ensure a peaceful environment for all, please refrain from using fireworks on the property.
🛶 Kayaks: If you use our kayaks, please do so at your own risk, and remember to always wear a life jacket (found in the green shed on the right side of the property). 🚪 Basement: The basement is off-limits as it’s used for personal storage.
