Easy walking distance to many restaurants including a great spot we found (basically one block over) called Fire Engine Pizza (Brick oven....YUM) Great food and great people. This is an older home in a quiet neighborhood that is racially diverse, mixed industrial/residential, and in some areas not as well kept as others. However, the apartment is clean, rather spacious, and stocked for longer stays. Seaside Park is the main attraction for our out of town visitors and provides excellent walking, jogging, biking, and lounging at beach.

One night (3am) we were woken up by a lady talking very loudly (screaming) on the phone. She was in the parking lot of the store next door facing directly to the bedroom windows. Also, this is a building where other people live. Someone in the other unit must smoke and the cigarette smell sometimes would be very strong, especially in the bathroom. We weren't in the apartment much so it was tolerable but this would not be ideal for a person who suffers from asthma or sensitive to these types of smells. We thank Ms. Jay for hosting us!"

The room was nice and the house was always clean, but you do stay with others in the house with you so you share the common areas. Communicating with the owner is easy and they love to get to know their tennants. The house rules are posted in the fridge which does include that you can't use it after 11pm. I would stay again now that know how the place is."

History of the house:
Between 1838 and 1843, David Smith, a housewright from Greenfield Hill, built eight (mostly multi-family) houses along a street he had just opened up: Smith’s Lane (now Calderwood Court) in Black Rock, Bridgeport. This planned development also included a carriage factory and a school. The houses were transitional between the Federal and Greek Revival styles. The first of the houses to be built, in 1838, was the the William Bouton House at 4 (aka 25) Calderwood Court. The front porch is a twentieth-century addition.

This third-floor room has a comfortable full-sized bed (not queen) and wood dresser, desk and bedtable. The large bath (shared with one other guest) has both an old fashioned claw tub that you are welcome to soak in, and a shower. The room is warm in winter and has AC in summer. You have access to a mini-fridge, microwave and hot plate during your stay, and are provided dishes, pots and cooking items. The house has high speed internet, a large yard, and off street parking.

This historic home is well located only a short walk from a large grocery, bank, and numerous shops and restaurants. It is perhaps 10 blocks from Beardsley Park and 5 minutes from the Merritt Parkway, 5-7 minutes from both University of Bridgeport and Sacred Heart University, and 5 to 10 minutes from Trumbull, Stratford, and Blackrock. A major bus line runs in front of the house and connects with the train station.

The apartment is located on the first floor. Upon entering, you'll find the living room leading to three bedrooms. The spacious king room includes a queen bed, a full bed, a twin bed, and a desk. Our home is located in North End,a good neighborhood in Bridgeport,CT. We are near to major hospitals, university/colleges, major transportation (Train Station, Jefferson Ferry), easy access to I-95, Merritt Pkwy, shopping malls, restaurants and supermarkets.
We are glad to open our home to those who are looking for a place away from home. Our house has three bedrooms ,each with smart Roku- TV, wood floors, with 1 1/2 bath, fully equipped kitchen with stainless steel appliances.

Household Rules :

-A $100 one time cleaning fee will be charged for a guest that will stay for 28 days or more.

-No outside footwear (sneakers, boots, sandals, etc.) in the house at all. You are welcome to use the provided house slippers.

-For long term guests , she/ he is responsible for providing her/his own essentials (laundry soap, toilet paper, hand soap, shampoo, etc.). Host/Landlord provide an essential starter pack to last a few days.

-Common Areas​ - Everyone is to clean up after themselves or any guests in the common areas.
Personal Rooms​ - Should be cleaned . No food or food wrappers/trash is to be kept in the rooms at all.
Bathrooms​ - Should be cleaned out after each use and when needed.
Keep the sink counter clean and free of clutter. Don’t flush the toilet tissue in the toilet bowl , it will clog up the drain. Wipe down the toilet seat. Don’t leave tissue paper on the floor, put it in the garbage. Don’t leave hair in the bathtub.
Kitchen​ - Should be cleaned after cooking. Dishes and cookware should be cleaned after used , dry, then put in proper area. No dirty cooking ware/ kitchen utensils should be left at all in the sink.
Dishwasher​ - If used, dishes should be rinsed off before putting in in a one full needs to be turned on. When dishes are dry they need to be put back up.
-Turn off appliances/lights when not in use. Can not leave the AC running continuously unattended( Turn off AC, lights when leaving the house)

Property -
Any form of permanent alteration on the property is not permitted like nailing/thumbtacking on walls, etc.
-We have Ring doorbell at the front door and floodlight with camera in the driveway.

-Property is a co-ed, meaning both males and females may possibly be housemates.

-Smoking cigarettes or any type of smoking is not permitted at all in the house. If smoking outside, all the cigarette butts need to be properly disposed of in a trash can.

- Alcohol is not permitted at all in the house.

- Drug Use -
Any type of illegal drug is not to be brought around or used in the house.
Any violation of this rule and the authorities will be contacted, and the
tenant will be evicted.

-Music/TV -
Noise should not be loud enough to bother anyone in the house or for the sound to travel out of the room with the door shut. If it does, when asked to turn down the volume the first time should be done immediately and not raised again.

-Pets -
No pets are allowed in the house or in the backyard whatsoever.

-Parking -
Park in the driveway in a way that if someone else needs to get out they can.

-Privacy
No installation of any form of surveillance camera inside the house.
As required by law, the landlord may enter the tenants room only for the following reasons: (a) in case of emergency; (b) to make necessary or agreed-upon repairs, improvements, supply necessary agreed-upon services, or exhibit the dwelling unit to prospective or actual purchasers, mortgages, tenants, workers, or contractors; (c) when the tenant has abandoned or surrendered the premises; (d) pursuant to court order; (e) or to inspect living area
