The construction outside is tolerable. The windows really do make a huge, huge difference. I was rarely bothered despite the skyscraper being built. Your hosts are Dan, a Marine of four years, firefighter of 20 years and 9/11 first responder and his partner Jarret, an interior designer and not for profit board member.

Jarret, originally from Oahu, attended Punahou School. He also spent two semesters at Waseda University in Tokyo. He graduated from USC and moved on to DC where he did fundraising for the Smithsonian and HRC. He then moved to NYC where, 18 years ago, he began his own interior design business. He continues his not-for-profit work to this day. he sits on the board of Womankind, the organization helps to get women, children and some men out of domestic violence, sexual slavery and human trafficking conditions in NYC. He also works with two different animal rescue organizations. Jarret works to help some of the more vulnerable communities here in our city. Jarret also speaks fluent Japanese for our Japanese guests.

Dan, originally from Long Island, enlisted in the Marine Corps at 18 and spent four years as a combat engineer. He then entered the fire department, his dream as he is a 3rd firefighter. He spent 20 years as a firefighter, before being forced into medical retirement because of his 9/11 illnesses. He worked at the Trade Center as a firefighter on 9/11 and for a month afterward. He now belongs to two veterans service organizations (local and national) as well as a 9/11 advocacy organization. He does advocacy in NYC and DC with these organizations and has helped get national and local legislation passed.

Together, they have lovingly brought this formerly abandoned house back to life, and Jarret has completely redone the Airbnb apartment, which encompasses an entire 650 square foot parlor floor for your private use. We hope to make your stay as wonderful as possible.

There is a huge supermarket just around the corner. They carry everything from meat to vegan, and everything in between.

If you rent longer then 4 weeks we ask that you get the apartment cleaned every two weeks and pay the cleaning person $100 per cleaning (beyond the 2 cleanings covered in your rent).

There is street parking available, but we recommend using Subway trains as main means of transportation all over. Train station is right around the corner :) we don’t recommend bringing a car to New York as public transit is easier and faster.

There is free street parking on our street however it is depending on availability. Personally, 95% of the time I find a parking spot right outside the house, however, sometimes I have to drive around the block a couple of times, it depends on if it's a busy season in NYC...

This room is designed with a single bed and a dresser, hardwood flooring . Please note there are no windows in the room, but there are windows in the kitchen.. Clean linens and towels are provided. The Kitchen is fully equipped with a refrigerator, stove with oven, a microwave, a coffee maker, a toaster oven and all the kitchen supplies. As stated this is a very simple room, for the traveler who will barely be in and just there to sleep / shower or recoup. This is a big room is 30 min from Manhattan located in Bedford–Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. You will be sharing this apartment with me and other guests. The building has been just renovated, but managed to keep its old charm.

Other things to note
if you flight takes off late. In this case I am happy to have you leave your bags and take the keys and return simply to pick up the bags to get to the airport or train station etc on time. It is all part of the service with no charge so you dont have to pay to store stuff, lug it around with you and you get chance to enjoy the city till the last moment.

The space
Welcome to your cozy and well-appointed room! This space offers everything you need for a comfortable stay. The room features a full-size bed with a comfortable mattress, fresh linens, and fluffy towels to ensure a restful night's sleep and a refreshing start to your day.

It's important to note that this room does not feature an external window. However, the ceilings are very tall at 14 feet.

Our loft is spread across three floors, offering a unique living experience. We have two shared full bathrooms for your convenience. The number of roommates in the loft can vary, typically ranging from as few as two to as many as eight individuals, depending on the season.

Our residents come from diverse backgrounds, including Pratt students, aspiring film directors, working jazz musicians, and international youth backpacking the world, to name a few.

Every room in the loft is private, ensuring your personal space is respected.

The shared living space promotes a friendly and communal atmosphere. While many of our residents are often out working, traveling, or simply going about their daily lives, they are all super nice and welcoming. We kindly ask our guests to be considerate and respectful of shared spaces.

You'll have access to the kitchen, two full bathrooms within the apartment, the patio, and a convenient laundry room in the building (operated with a card) without the need to step outside.
