The home is secluded and warm but with all the modern amenities. It sits in the middle of four wooded acres, with no other house in sight, but is only 1.8 miles from the center of the town of Woodstock. I bought it in the summer of 2013 and have enjoyed many relaxing weekends away from NYC.

The original interior is full of warm, knotty pine walls, hardwood floors, and a wood-burning fireplace. In the fall of 2013, I converted an adjoining artist studio to a Great Room. It now has cathedral pine ceilings, wood beams, and light pine floors. It also houses a down-filled Room & Board sofa and chaise, a ping-pong table, a gas woodstove, and a 55' television with cable TV.

The home has two bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and a washer and dryer. The Master bedroom features knotty pine cathedral ceilings, Russell Wright furnishings, a quality king mattress, and its own private second-floor deck. The second bedroom also features cathedral ceilings, painted knotty pine walls and ceiling, a Queen Bed, and a day-bed that can be converted to a king. The bed mattresses are all high-quality and very comfortable.

The kitchen has it all: gas stove, large refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, and all the cooking tools, pots and pans, and dishes you could need. The kitchen leads to a serene screened-in back porch that looks onto the blue stone patio and off into the woods.

The front yard is beautifully landscaped with blue stone walkways and steps. About 100 yards to the side of the house -- still on the property -- is a mountain stream.

The home is permitted by the Town of Woodstock for short-term rentals. The registration number of the house for the Town is 21N-132.

Guardian as per your notes, and found that secret vantage point where you look out at Cooper Lake... Hiked overlook mountain yesterday - the views were astonishing - though we were not brave enough to go the distance to Indian Head. We also found our way to the swimming hole and absolutely loved it... As I'm sure you can tell, we love it up here and wanted to see if you'd be interested in renting the house to us Columbus Day weekend... Certainly a bit of a shock to be back in the city after our days on Mt. Guardian.

I think we saw a bobcat although I confess to being ignorant of North American wildlife. We saw it reasonably close to the house. In any case, we loved staying in your charming forest getaway. More if the comforts of home than typical small Catskills cabins. 5 minutes to Woodstock city center with lots of great restaurants. Hot tub was a great addition. The only minor challenges were the living room couch which is not the most comfortable but it’s not a huge issue if you’re spending most of your time exploring out of the house. And the gas fireplace stove makes a loud noise when it kicks on and off and made me think the house was being broken into. Once I realized that was not the case, we got used to it and it just became background noise (pretty standard for us city folks). That being said, the stove plus the portable radiator in the bedroom kept us warm and cozy on a few 20 degree nights. Would definitely recommend this place."

Maple House was built in 1916 and is one of the original homes on Maple Lane, a quiet side street that borders Mower’s Field. One of the last surviving American maple trees that once lined the street stills stands in front of the house! On summer weekends, Maple Lane is transformed from a sleepy residential neighborhood into a hub of activity when the famous Woodstock Flea Market takes place in Mower’s Field every Saturday/Sunday from May-October. You can join in the fun and hunt for bargains/collectibles, or observe the festivities from the comfort of your covered front porch. Or you can retreat to the peace and quiet of the house interior or your spacious backyard surrounded by a tall privacy fence ~ and you’ll never know the market (or anything else) is there!

In its 100-year history, Maple House has only had 4 owners, and all have been artists or musicians. (The internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter Tom Pacheco shot the cover for one of his albums in the backyard.) The current owners are artist-designers, and they have lovingly and expertly restored and upgraded the house to include modern conveniences and luxury amenities, while still retaining its original character and charm. The wood floors, woodwork, windows, staircase and fireplace have been restored to their original like-new condition, while the 2 bathrooms and the kitchen have been totally renovated and updated.

The living area features a rustic wood slab coffee table surrounded by new leather lounge seating with oversize throw pillows, where you can snuggle with a book, watch a movie on the wall-mounted flatscreen TV ~ or simply take a nap! In the wintertime, you can flip a switch to instantly light a fire in the gas-fueled fireplace and create a cozy romantic atmosphere (no wood-chopping or fire-building skills required!).

2 BATHROOMS
Maple House has two spa-like bathrooms, one on each floor. Both are newly remodeled, modern and heated. The downstairs bathroom features a frameless glass shower with a rain head. The upstairs bathroom has an extra deep soaking tub (also with a shower head and a quartz seat). Once you draw your bath, the tub will automatically heat and gently recirculate the water to maintain the temperature you set, so you don’t have to refill. Instead you can just lay back, close your eyes, and float away ~ perhaps to the sound of music playing on the bathroom bluetooth speakers (for your own personal spa-cation experience)!

2 BEDROOMS
There are also two bedrooms on the second floor, both with midnight-blue painted wide-board floors, wood ceilings with exposed beams, queen-size platform beds with brand new Serta Beautyrest mattresses and luxury linens, black out shades, plenty of wardrobe space, full-length mirrors, and rustic furniture that captures the spirit of the Catskills.

HEAT/AC
The newly expanded thermostat-controlled hydronic heating system will keep you toasty warm during the winter months, and air conditioning units in both bedrooms and the living/dining area will keep you cool and comfortable in the summer.

BACKYARD
Your fully-fenced double-lot backyard truly is a private oasis in the heart of the village. It features a sunny lawn surrounded by perennial gardens, flowering shrubs, and a variety of trees, including 2 Japanese maples (which turn fiery red in the fall) and a crabapple tree (which is adorned with delicate white blossoms in the spring). Two rustic handmade “chairs” have been carved from the trunk of a fallen 100-year-old pine tree that once stood on the property. In the summer, you can retreat to the shaded lounge area with a cushioned loveseat and two armchairs under the trees. Or you can stretch out in the sun on recliners and soak up the rays. The bluestone patio next to the kitchen has a brand new Weber gas grill, Tikki torches, and a table that seats 6 for cooking and dining al fresco.

NO CAR NEEDED
Although Maple House has private off-street parking for 2 cars, you don’t need a car to get here. You can simply ride the Adirondack Trailways bus from NYC or NJ and arrive at the Woodstock Village Green (just one block from the house) in only a few hours!

All lighting is dimmable throughout the apartment and every room has a very efficient AC/ heating system for your comfort depending on the season.
Downstairs on the first floor there is a full laundry room/ mudroom where you can leave your jackets, shoes and ski gear.

The deck is very private from the main house and overlooks the woods. One has a sense of being in the treetops.You can dine at the outdoor table and chairs on the deck and soak up the sun on the chaise lounges, while reading a book or taking a nap.

There is a washer/ dryer located on the first floor for your convenience during your stay. You can close the door to reduce the noise.

The home is located on a mountain and in a Forrest so the terrain cannot accommodate guests with accessibility issues due to stairs, and the rugged terrain of the surrounding area. Likewise as seen in the photos, the home has carpeting which could be a hazard for certain guests. Please book accordingly.

The Maverick is equipped with a level 2 EV charger and automatic backup generator, which takes over in case of power outages.

The Maverick is fully set up for work from home scenarios with ultra fast internet, dual monitors and two separate work spaces. Wifi extenders and exterior outlets also enable you to work from our expansive wrap around deck.

The Maverick provides its guests with a fully stacked pantry with spices, pots, pans and cooking oil. The grill has a dedicated propane line so our guests don’t run out of fuel while grilling.

Coffee at the Maverick is dispensed via a French press and a Nespresso machine with beans and pods provided, respectively.

For the safety of our guests and our property, the Maverick is equipped with external infrared HD cameras. Inside the home there is a Minut sensor that monitors home environment, including noise levels, smoking of any kind including vaping, occupancy, temperature and humidity. It's 100% privacy-safe and helps us make sure our guests have a wonderful stay and our neighbors are not disturbed.
